Iman Shumpert can't find the mark in return

(3/26/2014) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert looked rusty in his return from an illness Tuesday, as he was held scoreless in a blowout loss to the Lakers.

Shumpert missed just one game but looked all out of sorts, missing all six of his field-goal attempts in route to his first scoreless appearance since early February. He added just two rebounds and two steals in 19 minutes off the bench, in the 127-96 loss.

Shumpert has struggled through his worst season as a professional, and is now shooting just 37.5 percent from the field. He is averaging 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 63 appearances.

Shumpert will end up missing just one game due to the illness barring a setback prior to gametime, his first game missed since late February. Shumpert is averaging 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game on the season.

Shumpert is averaging 6.8 points and 4.3 rebounds over 62 games. His next chance to play will come on Tuesday in Los Angeles against the Lakers.

(3/15/2014) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert showed a rare sign of life Saturday against the Bucks, as he ended an 11 game single-digit scoring streak in a 115-94 win.

Shumpert played 27 minutes off the bench and finished the game with 14 points on 5 of 12 shooting. He made a pair of 3-pointers and went 2 for 2 from the free-throw line, his first attempts from the charity stripe since Jan. 22. Shumpert capped off his line with four assists and four rebounds in the win.

Shumpert has been a big-time disappointment in his third NBA season, averaging just 6.6 points and 1.8 assists per game despite seeing his playing time jump up to 26.4 per game.

(3/2/2014) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert (knee) made his return to the starting lineup on Sunday, but showed some rust in a 109-90 defeat to the Bulls.

Shumpert was limited to just three points on 1 of 6 from the floor, including 1 of 3 from 3-point range. He also chipped in with five rebounds, one assist and one block while logging 20 minutes of game action. It was his first game back since Feb. 19.

(2/20/2014) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert is expected to miss approximately two weeks of action, after sustaining a sprained left MCL Wednesday. An MRI taken Thursday confirmed the diagnosis, an the team announced the timeline shortly after the trade deadline.

Shumpert's injury is to the same knee has had already has surgery on twice, including reconstructive ACL surgery two years ago. Shumpert is averaging just 6.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Knicks this season.

(2/19/2014) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert will not be traveling with the team to Orlando for Friday's game against the Magic, after suffering a knee injury in Wednesday's game. The team announced he will be returning to New York to undergo testing, including an MRI to confirm the extent of the injury.

According to a Yahoo.com report, Shumpert has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL in his left knee, the same knee he tore the ACL in two years ago. The MRI Thursday is needed to confirm the diagnosis, but this injury likely puts an end to rumors that Shumpert might be moved by Thursday's trade deadline.

(2/19/2014) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert has been mentioned as a possible trade chip ahead of Thursday's deadline, but an injury suffered Wednesday could throw a wrench in the team's plans. He suffered a sprain of his surgically repaired left knee in Wednesday's game against the Pelicans, and was unable to return to the game, finishing with two points on 1 of 6 shooting in 17 minutes.

Shumpert hasn't really been doing much to improve his trade value recently, averaging just 6.0 points on just 33.3 percent shooting in the month of February, entering Wednesday. His status moving forward is not yet known. 


Knicks, Clippers discussing guard swap

(2/19/2014) The Knicks and Clippers have begun talking a deal that would send Raymond Felton and Iman Shumpert to New York in exchange for a package that includes guard Darren Collison, according to Yahoo. 

The talks haven't materialized into a concrete offer just yet. The Clippers have been looking to upgrade their bench, while the Knicks have been dangling Shumpert on the trade market all season.

(2/18/2014) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert played through a hip flexor injury Tuesday against the Grizzlies, but struggled to make any kind of impact in the first game back from the All-Star break.

Shumpert played just 20 minutes despite getting the start, and he hardly deserved more. He scored just six points on 3 of 9 shooting, while adding two rebounds in the 98-93 loss.

Shumpert's development has stagnated for the second year in a row, as his shooting percentages are down across the board. The third-year guard is averaging 7.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

Report: Knicks eyeing all point guard options

(2/17/2014) The Knicks, who are investigating all point guard options and haven't been able to find a deal for Kyle Lowry, have shifted their focus on Hawks point guard Jeff Teague, according to a report from ESPN on Monday.

Eager to shed Teague's long-term contract, the Hawks should be interested in acquiring Iman Shumpert in return, according to the report. Andre Miller, who has been away from the Nuggets since Jan. 30, also appears to be another option for New York.

Teague has appeared in 49 games this season, averaging 15.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 41.2 percent from the floor. Shumpert is averaging 7.0 points and 4.6 rebounds on 38.2 percent shooting through 50 games this season. Miller was averaging 5.9 points, 3.3 assists and 2.4 rebounds through 30 games.

Iman Shumpert questionable to return Wednesday

(2/12/2014) Knicks guard Iman Shumpert suffered a strained left hip flexor in Wednesday's game against the Kings and is questionable to return, The Record reports.

Shumpert scored eight points on 3 of 7 shooting, including 2 of 4 shooting from behind the arc, in 22 minutes before exiting with the injury. The Knicks don't play again until Tuesday, so they may decide to play it safe and let Shumpert get a little extra rest heading into the break.

(2/11/2014) The Knicks are trying to reengage the Nuggets in an attempt to pu together a trade in which they would acquire forward Kenneth Faried from Denver in exchange for guard Iman Shumpert, ESPN.com reports.

The Nuggets have said that they won't trade Faried, but the Knicks or another interested team have a little more than a week to work out something acceptable. Faried has averaged 10.5 points and 7.6 rebounds over 48 games played, while Shumpert has averaged 7.0 points and 4.6 rebounds over 49 games played.

"I worked on certain stuff today — dribbling, shooting — and we’ll try more screen stuff before the game to make sure it’s alright," Shumpert said Monday morning. "Going off screens, I got to be able to go through screens. That’s how I hurt it. That’s how I want to be comfortable with."

Shumpert went 4 of 8 shooting from the field, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. Three of his four treys came in the third quarter. He finished the game with 12 points and nine rebounds, just missing out on a double-double. He also chipped in with three blocks while logging a season-high 43 minutes of game action in a 102-92 victory.

Shumpert has knocked down 17 of his last 28 3-pointers (60.7 percent) over his last five games played. He has averaged 15.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists over that span.

Shumpert went 9 of 14 shooting from the field, including a perfect 6 of 6 from beyond the arc, and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He finished the game with 26 points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal while logging 36 minutes of game action.
