Markieff Morris scores team-high 24 points vs. Timberwolves

(2/25/2014) Suns forward Markieff Morris scored a team-high 24 points on 9 of 20 shooting in his team's 110-101 loss to the Timberwolves Tuesday.

Morris has topped 20 points in three straight games, the second such streak he's had this season. However, the difference with Tuesday's performance was that 20 shots represented a season high for the forward. He also added three rebounds, two assists and one steal in 33 minutes Tuesday. Morris has averaged 13.1 points and 5.8 rebounds over 55 games played.


Markieff Morris scores 21 points again Sunday

(2/24/2014) Suns forward Markieff Morris made his presence felt off the bench on Sunday, scoring 21 points on 7 of 11 from the floor, and 7 of 9 from the charity stripe in a 115-112 loss to the Rockets.

Morris did all of his damage in 35 minutes of game action, also adding seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. He has scored 21 points in back-to-back games and is averaging 17.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists over his last five games.

It was the second straight game Morris led the team in scoring while going 15 for 22 from the field during that stretch. He had a well-rounded performance Friday, tallying five rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks in 25 minutes off the bench. Morris has averaged 12.8 points and 5.8 rebounds over 53 games played.

One night after recording his first double-double of February, Morris turned in his best scoring effort of the month while chipping in four rebounds and one assist. He has averaged 12.6 points and 5.8 rebounds over 52 games played.

(1/26/2014) Suns forward Markieff Morris went off on Sunday, as he scored a team-high 27 points on 8 of 16 shooting from the field, including 1 of 2 from downtown, and 10 of 12 from the free throw line in a 99-90 come-from-behind victory over the Cavaliers.

Morris did all of his damage in 33 minutes of game action, doubling up with 15 boards, with five of them coming from the offensive end of the glass. He also chipped in with two assists and one block. He has averaged 19.8 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists over his last five games played.

(1/17/2014) Suns forward Markieff Morris scored 23 points on 8 of 15 shooting while grabbing 12 rebounds in 32 minutes of action in his team's 110-107 loss to the Mavericks Friday.

It was Morris' fifth double-double of the season and first in nine January games, and he scored 20-plus points in consecutive games for the first time since early November over his last two games. He also dished out two assists and made two of his five three-point attempts in 32 minutes Friday. He has averaged 12.1 points and 6.0 rebounds in 38 games played.

Morris played only nine minutes off the bench and scored just two points on 1 of 5 shooting, with two rebounds and one assist. He has been held under 10 minutes in each of his last two games. He has averaged 6.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 17.2 minutes over his last five games.

Morris has been virtually unstoppable over his last four games, averaging 22.8 points and 8.0 rebounds over that stretch. He's a whopping 30 of 38 over his last three games. Morris filled up the stat sheet with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block Sunday.

Morris went 10 of 13 shooting from the field, including 1 of 1 from 3-point land, and 7 of 8 from the free throw line. His lone 3-pointer came from the left corner late in the fourth quarter. He finished the game with a team-high 28 points and 10 rebounds. He also chipped in with two rebounds and three steals while logging 34 minutes of game action in a 114-103 victory,

Morris has scored in double figures in each of his last three games. He has averaged 16.0 points and 7.2 rebounds through five games.

(11/6/2013) Suns power forward Markieff Morris had a monster performance Wednesday during a loss at San Antonio. Morris, who is playing alongside brother Marcus Morris, recorded a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds over 30 minutes off the bench. 

Morris shot 11 for 13 from the field and added a steal and an assist in the game. He scored 17 points his last time out and had been doing little prior to that for the Suns.

(11/5/2013) The Suns saw a nice contribution from their power forward brother tandem of Markieff Morris and Marcus Morris Tuesday during a 104-98 win at New Orleans.

Markieff played 29 minutes and shot 7 of 15 from the field to score 17 points with five rebounds. Marcus was 4 of 8 from the field with two 3-pointers to Markieff's one as he scored 16 points with nine boards.

Markieff had four assists and two steals to contribute, while Marcus had just one assist and one steal. Strangely enough, this was the first big contribution of the season from both brothers.

(11/2/2013) Suns forward Markieff Morris returned from his one-game suspension and made his season debut Friday night against the Jazz.

Morris, who was suspended one game for elbowing Serge Ibaka in the face in the preseason, logged 26 minutes off the bench, the most out of any reserves. He went 3 of 6 shooting from the field and finished with six points, six rebounds and two steals in an 87-84 victory.

Plumlee, acquired via an offseason trade from the Pacers, might end up being the team's starting center after the trade of Marcin Gortat Friday.

Morris will sit out the season opener against Portland on Oct. 30 before returning Nov. 1 against the Jazz.

(10/23/2013) Suns forward Markieff Morris had a disastrous start in Tuesday's game against the Thunder, but has been solid overall so far in the preseason. Morris was held scoreless in 13 minutes, while shooting 0 for 5 with two turnovers and five rebounds.

Morris is still fourth on the team in scoring in the preseason, averaging 8.3 points in just 19.3 minutes per game while shooting 48.9 percent from the field. He has started five times in six games, and seems likely to open the season as the team's starter at power forward.
