Nets' Willie Reed looking to make most out of latest opportunity

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7/16/2015) Though Willie Reed has yet to appear in a regular-season NBA game, the 25-year-old forward is eager for his most recent chance after signing a $500,000 contract with the Nets last week.

Reed has been playing in the D-League over the past three years, getting a couple of call-ups by the Kings and Grizzlies over that time. But he never got a chance to play in a game during either opportunity. Now Reed is seizing his latest opportunity with the Nets.

"I’m very excited about this opportunity," Reed said, per the New York Post. "God makes no mistakes. I didn’t stick the first couple times, but he’s put me in the perfect position now."

The Nets are prepared to give Reed a strong look during the summer league, possibly as a center to play behind Brook Lopez.

"I think I can be a really good backup five to Brook," Reed said. "Playing with the second unit, we can play a lot faster, and bring speed.

"But whatever coach needs me to do, I’m happy to give him."
