Lee has successful surgeries

News: The Timberwolves announced Wednesday guard Malcolm Lee had successful knee and hip surgeries this week. Lee had surgery Monday to repair his right knee and right hip surgery Wednesday. However, Lee is still expected to sit out the remainder of the 2012-13 season.
Analysis: Lee was averaging just 4.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game before exiting the lineup. He was more important to his real team than Fantasy owners. Continue to leave Lee off Fantasy rosters.

Lee also having hip surgery

News: Minnesota guard Malcolm Lee, already out for the season due to pending knee surgery, will undergo hip surgery as well, reports the Star Tribune.
Analysis: This sounds like the worst-case scenario for Lee, after the Timberwolves initially said he was out indefinitely. At this point, Fantasy owners should go ahead and cut Lee in any remaining formats. He has no Fantasy value at this time. Alexey Shved, J.J Barea, Luke Ridnour should continue to continue to benefit in his absence.

Lee out for season

News: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported Thursday that Timberwolves guard Malcolm Lee is out for the season. Lee will need surgery on his injury right knee after being diagnosed with a chrondal injury to the knee a few days back. According to the report, Lee may require micro-fracture surgery to repair the knee.
Analysis: This sounds like the worst-case scenario for Lee, after the Timberwolves initially said he was out indefinitely. At this point, Fantasy owners should go ahead and cut Lee in any remaining formats. He has no Fantasy value at this time. Lee out indefinitely with knee injury

News: The Timberwolves announced Friday that guard Malcolm Lee suffered a "chrondal" injury to his right knee and he will be out indefinitely. Lee was forced to leave Minnesota's win over the Nuggets Wednesday night with what the team called a hyperextended right knee.
Analysis: Minnesota said it is still in the process of gathering all of the information surrounding what exactly a chronal injury is, so Fantasy owners aren't the only ones in dark here. However, it sounds like Lee is going to be out for a while, so owners need to plan accordingly. Lee was averaging 4.9 points and 2.4 rebounds over 16 games and did not have much Fantasy value when healthy anyway.

Lee exits game early

News: Timberwolves point guard Malcolm Lee was forced to leave Wednesday's game against the Nuggets after just 10 minutes, as he suffered a hyperextended right knee. He was unable to return, and his status moving forward is not currently known.
Analysis: Lee has been in the starting for the Timberwolves due to injury, but he has been able to make very little impact. He was averaging just 5.2 points per game entering play Wednesday, so even if the injury does not prove serious, he can continue to be ignores in the majority of Fantasy formats.

Lee gets back in action

News: Minnesota guard Malcolm Lee returned from a groin injury to start on Tuesday in Philadelphia. Lee played 19 minutes as a starter and scored in double figures with 10 points. He went 4 of 4 from the field and 2 for 2 from 3-point range. Lee added two rebounds and one assist.
Analysis: Lee missed last Friday's game with his groin issue but was able to return on Tuesday. That said, he only played 19 minutes, though he looked good while on the floor. Lee averages around 18 minutes per game so this was a normal effort for him. He's scored 10 points in the last three games in which he's played but otherwise generally contributes on the lower-end of Fantasy statistics. He has low-end Fantasy value at this time for deeper leagues.

Lee set for quick return

News: Timberwolves guard Malcolm Lee is expected to return to the starting lineup for Tuesday's game after dismissing a minor groin issue, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. Lee missed last Friday's game with the injury, but was able to participate in the morning shootaround. "I think it happened because I got a contusion in one of the games, and I started compensating," he said. "And that’s how I pulled [the groin muscle]."
Analysis: With the Timberwolves dealing with several injuries in the backcourt, Lee has started nearly half of the team's games, though he has generated an average of 4.7 ppg. However, he has impressed coaches with his defensive prowess during his second season in the league. "I pretty much guard everybody the same -- force them to their weak side -- and I try to body them," he said, "I don’t like to give them room." Unfortunately, Lee is more valuable to Minnesota than Fantasy owners and is viewed as a low-end option for now.

Lee returns to practice

News: Minnesota point guard Malcolm Lee returned to practice Monday after missing Friday's game with a groin injury. Lee also didn't practice Sunday. He hopes to return Tuesday at Philadelphia.
Analysis: Lee had been starting for a few weeks, though he has been unable to make much of an impact. He is scoring just 4.7 points per game, and will likely lose his spot in the starting lineup once the Wolves get back to full health. He should be ignored in most Fantasy formats.

Lee sits with groin injury

News: Timberwolves guard Malcolm Lee was scratched from the lineup Friday against the Bucks, as his lingering groin injury flared up prior to game time. Jose Juan Barea took his place in the starting lineup.
Analysis: Lee had been starting for a few weeks, though he has been unable to make much of an impact. He is scoring just 4.7 points per game, and will likely lose his spot in the starting lineup once the Wolves get back to full health. He should be ignored in most Fantasy formats.

Lee not improved as starter

News: Minnesota point guard Malcolm Lee got the start on Monday night in Dallas as he helped lead the Wolves to a win. That said, Lee didn't really improve his stats despite seeing a boost in minutes as a starter. Lee played 23 minutes and shot 2 of 6 from the field to score four points with three rebounds and an assist. He added a steal and turned the ball over once.
Analysis: Lee is averaging 3.4 points per game over his last five and that comes with limited assists. If he isn't going to see much improvement as a starter his Fantasy value is going to stay put at a very low level.

Lee gets on the board

News: Timberwolves rookie Malcolm Lee scored the first points of his career on a driving runner in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Nuggets. Lee missed most of the first two months of the season with a knee injury.
Analysis: Lee has appeared in just four games since joining the Wolves from the D-League earlier in the year. Lee has spent much of the season recovering from offseason knee surgery, and at this point the rookie out of UCLA is unlikely to have a big impact. Unless he carves out a large role and excels, Fantasy owners can continue ignore Lee down the stretch.

Lee makes quick debut

News: With Ricky Rubio out for the season, the Timberwolves will likely need rookie Malcolm Lee to step up some, as he made his NBA debut on Saturday against the Hornets. Lee played just five minutes in the game, going 0 for 2 from the field for no points, though he did get a rebound, a steal and two blocks in his brief appearance.
Analysis: Lee was just recalled from the D-League on Friday, and he was thrust into action quickly with Rubio’s injury. Lee has spend much of the season recovering from offseason knee surgery, and at this point the rookie out of UCLA is unlikely to have a big impact. Unless he carves out a large role and excels, Fantasy owners can likely ignore Lee down the stretch.

Lee headed back to Minnesota

News: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman said rookie guard Malcolm Lee would be called back from Sioux Falls of the Developmental League for the weekend. "I don't know how much he'll play," Adelman said. ''It's for insurance, if we get in foul trouble or if something happens."
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Lee, but he has minimal Fantasy value. He is not worth using in the majority of Fantasy leagues.

Lee assigned to D-League

News: Minnesota assigned point guard Malcolm Lee to the D-League on Wednesday. Lee will play for the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Analysis: Lee was not a member of the rotation for Minnesota while up with the big club. He has no Fantasy value at this time.

Timberwolves recall Lee

News: The Minnesota Timberwolves promoted G Malcolm Lee from Sioux Falls of the NBA Development League on Tuesday. Lee averaged 9.7 points and 6.0 assists in three games for the Skyforce while rehabbing his knee after having surgery last December.
Analysis: Lee is another guard for an already crowded Minnesota backcourt, but the rookie is not expected to receive much playing time at first, especially while he continues his recovery. The former UCLA standout could be useful later in the season, but should be ignored in all Fantasy formats for now.

Lee begins rehab work

News: The Minnesota Timberwolves sent G Malcolm Lee to Sioux Falls of the NBA Development League on Monday. Lee was ticketed for the D-League as soon as he returned from left knee surgery. He is expected to spend a week with Sioux Falls while rehabbing his knee.
Analysis: While it is certainly good news for Lee that he could return soon, the rookie is not a candidate for much playing time even if he returns healthy. The Timberwolves are deep at the point guard position so he won't see many minutes. Continue to ignore him in all Fantasy formats.

Lee heads to the D-League

News: The Timberwolves are planning on sending G Malcolm Lee to the NBA Developmental League whenever he is ready to return from left knee surgery. Coach Rick Adelman told the Star Tribune that he is going to be ready to return soon, and will spend about a week in the D-League once he is ready.
Analysis: While it is certainly good news for Lee that he will be able to come back soon, the rookie was not a candidate for much playing time even if he returns healthy. The Wolves are deep at the point guard position, so this news doesn't have much, if any, Fantasy impact.

M. Lee undergoes knee surgery

News: The Timberwolves have announced that G Malcolm Lee underwent "successful" surgery to repair torn meniscus ligament in left knee. He is expected to be out for at least six weeks as he recovers.
Analysis: Lee underwent minor surgery in the same knee after his final season at UCLA last season, but apparently he has had a set-back. Lee was not a candidate for much playing time even if healthy as a rookie, so this news doesn't have much, if any, Fantasy impact.

Lee signs three-year deal with T'Wolves

News: Minnesota signed second-round draft pick G Malcolm Lee on Monday, according to SI.com. Lee reportedly received a three-year guaranteed deal from the Timberwolves.
Analysis: It's interesting Lee received such a lucrative contract as he is not expected to be a strong Fantasy contributor anytime soon. He should not be considered a worthwhile option in 2011-12 Fantasy drafts.

Lee lands in Minnesota

News: As part of a trade during the NBA Draft, the Timbewolves were able to acquire guard Malcolm Lee, who was drafted in the second round at No. 43 overall from UCLA. As a junior last year he averaged 13.1 points and 3.1 rebounds.
Analysis: Lee will compete to make the final roster in Minnesota, but he has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
