Hawks will rest three starters in penultimate game

(4/14/2014) With the final spot in the Eastern Conference already clinched, the Hawks will give Paul Millsap, Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll a day of rest Monday against the Bobcats, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The team will trot out the following starting lineup for the penultimate game of the season: Jeff Teague, Lou Williams, Cartier Martin, Mike Scott and Pero Antic.

(2/21/2014) The Hawks signed forward Cartier Martin for the remainder of  the season on Friday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Martin was recently waived for the second time this season by the Hawks. He has averaged 6.7 points and 2.0 rebounds through 31 games with Atlanta.

(2/20/2014) The Hawks waived forward Cartier Martin on Thursday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The move was made in order to make room for newly acquired forward Antawn Jamison.

Martin was in his second stint with the Hawks after signing a 10-day contract earlier in the month. He averaged 7.0 points and 2.2 rebounds through six games during his second stint with Atlanta.

(2/18/2014) Hawks forward Cartier Martin is playing on a 10-day contract, but that doesn't mean the Hawks aren't willing to give him a solid role. Martin started Tuesday's game against the Pacers in place of the injured DeMarre Carroll.

Martin played 20 minutes in his starting role and put together his second double-digit scoring effort in a row. He scored 12 on 4 of 7 shooting with three 3-pointers, and added five rebounds, one assist and one block in a 108-98 loss.

Martin has appeared in 30 games for the Hawks this season, the last five of which have come while working on 10-day contracts.

Martin has appeared in two games since re-joining the Hawks in early February. He has scored 13 points in 21 minutes in those two games.

(1/20/2014) The Bulls are hopeful to sign forward Cartier Martin for the remainder of the season, head coach Tom Thibodeau told the Chicago Tribune on Monday.

Martin has only totaled 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal while averaging 13.7 minutes through his first three games with the Bulls after signing a 10-day contract on Jan. 10.

(1/18/2014) Bulls forward Cartier Martin appeared in his third game since joining the team Friday, as he played six minutes in a 103-78 win over the Trail Blazers.

Martin was scoreless in his six minutes of action, as he did not attempt a shot. He added one assist, his lone statistical contribution during the blowout.

Martin has played in three of six games for the Bulls since signing. He has scored 15 points, with three rebounds and two assists in those games.

Martin averaged 6.6 points on 40.3 percent shooting over 25 games played for the Hawks before being waived Tuesday, though he hadn't logged much time in recent weeks while dealing with an ankle injury. He has averaged 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 14.6 minutes over 186 career games.

(12/31/2013) Hawks forward Cartier Martin made his return to the hardwood Tuesday night against the Celtics, after missing nine consecutive games with an ankle injury.

Martin did all his damage in 14 minutes of game action, scoring six points on 2 of 4 shooting, all of which came from beyond the arc. He also chipped in with one rebounds and one steals in a 92-91 victory.

Neither player has a timetable for a possible return. Neither player was able to participate in Friday's shootaround, though Ayon did put in extra work aft Thursday's practice.

Martin shot 4 of 8 from the field, including 3 for 7 from 3-point range, and added 6 for 6 from the line to score his 17 points. He grabbed two rebounds and added a steal and an assist. Martin also committed three personal fouls during his limited minutes off the bench.
