He turned the ball over three times, however, in a 95-90 loss.
Analysis: After his early season struggles, Collison has emerged as the main option at the point for the Mavericks. Unfortunately, he is stuck in a bit of a slump, shooting just 38.9 percent from the field over the last 10 games. Dominique Jones too the start in his place.
Analysis: Collison seems to be slowly making progress and should be back to 100 percent heading into Week 9 (Dec. 24-30), so we'll continue to keep an eye on his status moving forward. Still, Collison is averaging 6.8 points and 2.6 assists per game over the last five games, and coach Rick Carlisle told reporters before the game that the point guard spot is "up for grabs". He is actually shooting the ball well recently, converting 47.2 percent of his field-goal attempts in 10 December games. Collisons Fantasy value has taken a hit with his move to the bench, so Fantasy owner will want to continue to consider him just a low-end option until he can take back the starting job.
News: Mavericks guard Darren Collison paced all bench players with 15 points and tallied two assists during Dallas' 119-96 rout of Sacramento on Monday night. Collison posted his third straight game with double figures as he drained 7 of his 9 attempts from the field (1 of 2 from long range). He also contributed three rebounds and two steals during 30 minutes of playing time while continuing to play off the bench.
Analysis: Collison has effectively moved past a minor finger injury that forced him to miss a game at the end of November and is averaging 11.2 points per game in December. The former UCLA standout, who is in his first season with the Mavericks, has started to grow comfortable in the new offense and shooting 50 percent from the field this month. He is starting to rebuild his Fantasy value and is worth starting in deeper formats.
News: With the signing of veteran guard Derek Fisher, the Mavericks moved guard Darren Collison to the bench Saturday against the Pistons. Collison scored just five points on 2 of 5 shooting, however he also added eight assists without a turnover in a 92-77 win. Collison added two rebounds and a steal in the game.
Analysis: Collison started the season off hot and made the Mavericks look like geniuses for acquiring him for little in return from the Pacers. He has cooled off considerably, and the team seems to have cooled on him as well with the addition of a veteran to start. Collison should still see the bulk of the minutes, but will see less time with the more talented first-unit offense. This can only hurt his Fantasy value, so consider him more of a low-end starting option at this point.

However, coach Rick Carlisle apparently wants to shake things up as he has even talked about playing both on the court at the same time. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on how things play out over the next few days. Collison's value would take a huge hit if he started coming off the bench.

When healthy, Collison remains a worthwhile Fantasy option in most formats.
News: Dallas tweaked the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's game at Philadelphia. In a surprising move, coach Rick Carlisle started Dominique Jones at point guard over Darren Collison. Collison played just 24 minutes his last time out against the Lakers and scored just two points on 1 of 10 shooting with four assists.
Analysis: Fantasy owners probably should consider this a short-term demotion for Collison, who clearly is being punished for his poor performance against the Lakers. Collison needs to be more consistent as the leader on the floor for Dallas. He was playing well early in the year, but his inconsistent ways have reared their ugly head again. Regardless, Collison remains a worthy Fantasy option in most formats.
News: Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said that point guard Darren Collison needs to improve on his defensive game, reports ESPN Friday. "Well, hes scoring, but defensively hes getting hurt," Carlisle said. "For a smaller guy, hes just got to make more of a stand. Weve got to help him out in a lot of those situations. Hes making strides overall with what we want him to do offensively. But defensively is where he can make the greatest gains."
Analysis: Collison is beginning to show signs of struggling with his shot and scoring consistently and that isn't good news when his coach is starting to talk about his poor defense. We know he plays defense poorly, but if he's becoming a liability and not shooting the ball his minutes could begin to fade. Right now he's worth starting in most Fantasy formats, especially as he continues to distribute. Hopefully he doesn't start to lose playing time.
News: Dallas guard Darren Collison has thrived as thrived as the Mavericks starting point guard this season. He has scored in double figures in all but one two of the 10 games he has started and is nearly 47 percent from the field. Collison will be counted on to carry some of the scoring load while Dirk Nowtizki remains sidelined and the 24-year-old has proved up for challenge thus far. As long as he can maintain his current production, Collison would be worth starting in most formats.

Analysis: Collison has been the ultimate leader for the Mavericks thus far and he might just have his finest season as a professional. With Dirk Nowitzki out the Mavericks need Collison to pick up some of the scoring slack and he has been more than up to the challenge after four games. We can only hope this continues but Collison can be active in just about all Fantasy leagues.

Collison dished out four assists and had three steals with just two turnovers as he helped lead Dallas to a win.
Analysis: Collison averaged just 10.4 points per game last year with Indiana but could be turning over a new leaf with Dallas. With Dirk Nowitzki out especially the Mavericks need Collison to pick up some of the scoring slack and he looked up to the challenge in the opener. A hot hand can fade, but Collison also led the Mavericks with 5.9 assists per game in the preseason. He is definitely an early candidate for a breakout season and an option in most Fantasy leagues immediately.
News: The Pacers and Mavericks came to an agreement Wednesday on a three-player deal that sent guard Darren Collison and forward Dahntay Jones to Dallas for center Ian Mahinmi.
Analysis: The Mavericks have been interested in adding a point guard, and they did so at seemingly little cost. Collison was a disappointment last season, eventually losing his starting spot, so a change of scenery should be good for him. He will be working with one of the best pick-and-roll big men in Dirk Nowitzki, which can only help his production. He also wont be splitting time at the point, so Fantasy owners might be able to expect more from him this coming season. He is still more of a No. 4 Fantasy guard, however this move improves his upside, making him worthy of a mid-round pick on Draft Day.

Collison, who had missed the previous two games due to a groin injury, will be moved to the bench for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs. Where weve struggled is with the second unit scoring and the hope is D.C. can come in and infuse some life into that unit and get this entire team playing at a level 10, take it even a step higher from where were at right now, Vogel said. Thats what Ive asked D.C. to do, to focus on energizing that second unit.
Analysis: Collison was able to return to the court on Saturday night, but now looks to have lost his starting gig to George Hill. Collison will now looking at around 20-25 minutes per night for Indiana, which will likely lead to a decrease in production. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on how Collison responds to his new role over the final few games of the season. Fantasy owners should consider the 24-year-old a viable low-end option in most formats now that he has been moved to the bench.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison missed his seventh game in a row on Thursday against the Bucks, as he continues to be sidelined by a persistent groin injury. The team continues to consider him day to day, however coach Frank Vogel has said he has encouraged Collison to shut himself down until the playoffs, especially with George Hill playing well in his absence.
Analysis: At this point, we have no idea when Collison may return, however it does not appear likely that he will get back to full strength by the end of the Fantasy season. He has been a solid Fantasy option for most of the season, however Fantasy owners at this point should not count on him for the remainder of the season.
News: As expected, Pacers guard Darren Collison was ruled inactive for Tuesday night's contest against the 76ers due to a groin injury. The Pacers announced on Monday that Collison would be shut down with his injury, but he insisted on trying to play against Philadelphia. I encouraged that (he shut it down), but he said he wanted to give it a try, coach Frank Vogel told the Indianapolis Star. They treated him today and he wanted to go out there and see if he could be pain free. If he can do that he wants to play.
Analysis: Collison seems to be getting a little nervous about losing his starting gig as he has pulled a complete 180-degree turnaround from his stance on Monday night. Instead of being shutdown, the Pacers are now listing the 24-year-old as day to day, so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward. However, Collison's inconsistent production makes him more of a low-end option in most formats when healthy.

Collison, who had missed four straight games with his injury entering Monday's contest against the Timberwolves, was held scoreless in 19 minutes in the 111-88 win. He doesnt have his explosiveness, Frank Vogel told the Indianapolis Star. He felt like it was pulling on him the whole night. He didnt have the explosiveness to go by big guys in the pick-and-roll game. Were going to give it a few more days to see if we can get him 100 percent.
Analysis: The Pacers did not like the way Collison was moving around on the court and now will be shut down until the playoffs start. The 24-year-old averaged 10.8 points, 4.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 57 games this year and shot 44 percent from the field. After two straight years of high expectations, it appears this is about how good it gets for Collison. Fantasy owners should consider him a viable low-end Fantasy guard in all formats heading into 2012-13 season.

Collison, who missed the past four games with a groin injury, was held scoreless in 19 minutes off the bench in the 111-88 win. Coach Frank Vogel told reporters prior to the game that Collsion would come off the bench for at least the next two games. He hasnt practiced or played basically in eight days, so Ive decided to bring him off the bench at least for the time being, coach Vogel said. Well start George and D.C. will play the backup minutes Then well see where were at from that.
Analysis: Collison was finally able to make his return on Monday, but only logged 19 minutes off the bench. The Pacers will be very careful with the 24-year-old moving forward as they want to make sure he is at 100 percent for the start of the playoffs. However, he should return to the stating lineup sometime over the next few days, making him a viable low-end option in most formats.
News: Prior to gametime on Saturday against the Bucks, the Indianapolis Star reported that Pacers guard Darren Collison missed his fourth game in a row as he continues to deal with a groin injury.

Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward to see when he will be able to return. Collison has to be considered an injury risk heading into Week 17 (April 16-26), however if he returns he can be considered a viable low-end starting option in most Fantasy leagues.

As long as that is present, we'll probably rest him."
Analysis: Fantasy owners in all leagues should continue to rest Collison, but hopefully he can play against the Cavs and get back to 100 percent soon. When healthy and active, Collison is a low-end Fantasy starter in the majority of leagues.

It was the second game in a row that he has missed with the injury. Collison participated in shootaround, however he was still too sore to test it in a game. Darren went through shootaround and I thought he would be able to go tonight, but hes still a little tender, coach Frank Vogel told NBA.com. We definitely want him back, but we need him to be 100 percent healthy when he comes back. George Hill will start in his place yet again.

Analysis: Collison was finally able to get his scoring back into double figures on Monday night, which hasn't happened very often of late. The 24-year-old has seen his scoring take a serious hit this season, but has been able to hold on to his starting spot none the less. Despite his strong performance against the Heat, Fantasy owners should consider Collison merely a low-end option at this point in the season.

Collison also grabbed four rebounds in the game, however he continues to have problems.
Analysis: Collison hasnt lost his starting job yet, as has been rumored, however that could be attributed more to the competition failing to take it from him, as he has not done anything in the month of March to be worthy of continuing to hold the starting spot. Collison is averaging 8.6 points and 3.4 assists in the month, and his shot has abandoned him, as he is hitting just 38.8 percent from the field. Collison appears to be the guy at the point guard for the Pacers still, however at this point, he shouldnt be considered anything more than a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Indiana point guard Darren Collison did not shoot well on Tuesday against Portland but it didn't matter as the Pacers killed the Blazers. Collison saw 25 minutes and shot just 3 of 10 from the field to score eight points. Collison added just two assists and a steal in the performance.
Analysis: Collison is shooting 35 percent from the field over his last five games and that is going to be a big reason for his averaging just 7.0 PPG over that span. With just 3.8 assists and less than a 3-pointer, Collison is not playing like a high-end Fantasy guard. Fantasy owners in 10- and 12-team leagues should be benching him at the moment until he picks up the pace again.

Analysis: Collison was once again able to get his scoring into double figures, although Fantasy owners would have liked to see his point total a little higher. While Collison has shown occasional glimpses of his scoring prowess, the 24-year-old appears to be nothing more than a low-teen scorer. However, his 5.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game continue to make him a viable low-end Fantasy guard in most formats. Continue to view him as such moving forward.
News: Pacers point guard Darren Collison had a solid performance on Tuesday night in an overtime win over the Hornets. He chipped in with eight rebounds and six assists and also had a steal on his stat line. Collison has gone 3 for 4 on 3-point attempts in his last three games.
Analysis: Collison is not a big time 3-point threat, but he's picking and choosing his spots wisely of late. He's not a big time scorer, but he's doing that better over his last five games. Collison will consistently give Fantasy owners mid-range production. As long as you aren't looking for more, Collison can be utilized in most Fantasy formats.
News: After scoring in single digits each of his last four times out, Pacers G Darren Collison was able to get back on track against the Cavaliers on Wednesday. He is averaging 10.2 points with 5.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds in his last five contests, and is shooting nearly 49 percent over that span. While there are better options out there, Collison remains productive enough to consider a low-end guard in larger Fantasy formats at this point.

Collison shot 3 for 7 from the field and nailed his lone foul shot. He added a rebound and a block in his 31 minutes of action. Indiana would end up losing the game 113-109.
Analysis: While some Fantasy owners may be upset that Collison's scoring is down, the fact his assists have been up this scoring period is a good sign. Collison doesn't need to be the main scoring threat on the Pacers, but will be able to get his looks if he keeps the big men producing in the paint. He's averaging 12.0 points and 5.2 assists per game over his last five outings. Owners should consider Collison more of a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy guard option moving forward.

At times I can be aggressive and penetrate like I did."
Analysis: Collison has been playing well for the Pacers as his scoring is up over his last five games. At the same time his assist totals have been a bit inconsistent. He's averaging 15.2 points, 4.6 assists and 4.4 boards per game over that span. The Pacers are playing solid basketball right now and Collison is starting to play up to his potential. "I think the playoffs helped us and it carried over for this season." Collison has certainly helped Indiana's turnaround and entered Sunday's game averaging 10.9 points and 5.3 assists per game. Fantasy owners should consider him a quality mid-range option in most formats.
News: Indiana PG Darren Collison was decent over 31 minutes on Tuesday night in a blowout loss to the Magic. Collison scored 11 points on 5 of 10 shooting from the field. He grabbed four rebounds and did not have a single assist in the blowout loss.
Analysis: Collison saw less run on Tuesday with the Pacers being blown away. He's averaging 12.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game over his last five. The passing is down, but the scoring up slightly. Collison is not an elite Fantasy PG, but he's serviceable in many deeper formats.
News: Pacers G Darren Collison was able to score in double figures for the second straight game on Wednesday night against the Kings. He finished with 16 points and six rebounds in the 92-88 loss. Analysis: Collison dropped a season-high 17 points his last time out and nearly matched that mark on Wednesday. He is averaging 11.6 points with 4.4 assists and 4.2 rebounds in his last five games, but is shooting just 36 percent from the field over that span. His scoring will go up as soon as he becomes more consistent with his shot so keep an eye on his progress going forward. He can be a solid option in larger formats when playing well but consider Collison as more of a low-end Fantasy G at this point.

He went a perfect 4 for 4 from the charity stripe and also chipped in with four rebounds and four assists, while logging 32 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Despite Collison's decent performance against Boston, the 24-year-old has once again been a disappointment thus far. He is averaging just over 10 points and five assists on the season, while shooting a unimpressive 41.2 percent from the field. There are still many who think Collison has the tools to be a solid Fantasy contributor, although we can more than understand some owners running out of the patience with him. Consider the former UCLA standout merely a low-end end Fantasy option in most formats, until he proves otherwise. Especially with Indiana slated to play just three times during Fantasy Week 4 (Jan. 16-22).
News: Pacers G Darren Collison struggled to find his shooting stroke during Monday night's 96-86 loss to the 76ers. In fact, he is averaging just 11 points and 4.0 assists over his last five games, which is below his average from last season. While many think Collison has the tools to be a solid Fantasy contributor, we can more than understand some owners running out of the patience with the 24-year-old. Consider him merely a low-end end Fantasy option in most formats, until he proves otherwise.
News: Pacers G Darren Collison, who scored just eight points and added five assists in the season opener, had 10 points and 12 assists in the second game of the season, as Indiana defeated Toronto 90-85. While his shooting woes werent entirely correct, going three-of-seven from the field, he did make his sole three-point attempt in the game. He also added two steals to his line while only turning the ball over three times.
Analysis: While it took Collison 32 games in his first year in Indiana to record a double-double, he reached the mark in just his second in his second-season. There has been some talk of him losing playing time to George Hill, however Collison had double the minutes Hill did Wednesday night. For now, it certainly does appear as if the starting job is safely in Collisons possession, so continue to consider him a solid Fantasy starting option moving forward.
News: Pacers G Darren Collison got the start in Monday's season opener against the Pistons but did not shoot all that well. He went 3 for 11 from the field but made 2 of 3 from beyond the arc to finish with eight points in the 91-79 win. Collison, who played 37 minutes, also had five assists with two steals and a block. His backup George Hill scored four points in 24 minutes of action off the bench.
Analysis: Collison was able to keep his starting job out of camp but he likely won't hold onto it for long if he cannot start shooting better. Luckily Hill also had a poor-shooting day but owners should keep an eye on the situation going forward. Collison has shown the ability to score and can contribute with assists and steals but it is all tied into his playing time. For now, continue to roll with the 24-year-old as a viable option in the majority Fantasy leagues.
News: Pacers G Darren Collison was the team's starting point guard in Friday night's preseason opener against the Bulls. Collison finished with a 12 points and four assists in the contest, while logging 24 minutes. He shot 4 of 10 from the field and also chipped in with a pair of rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: There has been a ton of speculation about if Collison would be able to keep his starting job this season and so far it looks like he has. Collison averaged just 13.2 points and 5.1 assists in his first season as a full-time starter in Indiana, but should be able to build upon those numbers this year. The addition of David West will give him another true scoring option on the floor and many feel he could develop into a top-tier guard this season. While we aren't totally sold yet, owners should track his progress throughout the year. Those interested in drafting Collison, should feel free to snag him in the middle or late rounds.
News: Pacers president Larry Bird wasn't interested in drafting for potential anymore. He wanted an establish player he knew would help the team the second he stepped on the court. Bird and the Pacers got that when they swung a draft-night deal to bring guard George Hill back to Indianapolis. The Pacers acquired Hill from San Antonio for the for the rights to the No. 15 pick, San Diego State's Kawhi Leonard, and the No. 42 pick, European big man Davis Bertans. Hill will compete with Darren Collison for the starting point guard spot next season. Bird said who starts will be up to the coach, likely Frank Vogel. What the Pacers have in their favor is that Hill can be teamed with Collison in the backcourt because he's capable of playing shooting guard. "He's a big guard," Bird said of Hill. "He's got length and can defend. He's a great addition for us." Collison didnt seem too concerned about Hill joining the team, reports the Indianapolis Star. Itll be good competition, which will only make us better, Collison said. Hes a very good defender and he can play both guard spots. On Friday, the Pacers picked up the 2012-13 team option on Collison.
Analysis: We expect Collison to remain the starting point guard, but Hill will also see time there with the two playing together. Collison remains a No. 3 Fantasy guard coming into the season, and he's worth drafting with a mid-round pick in all leagues.
News: After putting up an impressive 18.8 points and 9.1 assists while filling in for the injured Chris Paul last season in New Orleans, many were quick to pull the trigger on Darren Collison in the early rounds of Fantasy Drafts this season when he was traded to the Pacers. However, Collison struggled during his first season in Indiana and put up numbers nowhere close to what he did in his rookie campaign. Collison averaged just 13.2 points and 5.1 assists in his first season as a full-time starter while shooting 45.7 percent from the field. His best stretch of the year came in January where he averaged a season-best 15.2 points per contest. Collison scored a season-high 30 points against the Clippers back on January 17, which would end up being his only 30-point performance of the season. Collison also only averaged just over two more minutes a game in Indiana, despite starting 47 more games than he did a season ago.
Analysis: Collison was definitely a disappointment during his first year with the Pacers and seemed to have a hard time adjusting to a new system. Many of his critics suggest Collison's numbers were inflated in New Orleans because the Hornets' offense is built around the point guard (Paul), which allows whoever is running the point more offensive freedom. The Pacers' offense goes through Danny Granger and even Roy Hibbert to a certain extent now, which requires whoever runs the point to be more of a facilitator. When you look at a couple to key stats it is easy to see why the 23-year-old may have had a hard time transitioning. Collison averaged 11.0 field goal attempts this season but shot nearly two percentage points lower from the field and seven percentage points lower from behind the arc than he did in his lone season in New Orleans. He also only recorded double-digit assist totals in four games this year after accomplishing the feat 14 times in 2010-11. Collison does have talent to become a top-tier Fantasy guard but his value heading into the 2011-12 season -- if there is one -- will likely depend on who is named coach in Indiana heading into next season. Collison's average draft position was 40.9 last season, although based on his lack of production, he is likely more worthy of a mid-to-late round selection in 2011-12, especially if Frank Vogel is in fact named the coach. Collison finished as the 34th highest scoring guard, in terms of Fantasy points in all CBSSports.com standard formats.

Heading into 2011-12, plan on drafting Collison with a mid-round pick.

He didn't have the best day shooting though, as he struggled from the field going 2 for 11 -- 1 for 2 from beyond the 3-point arc. Collison also went 1 for 2 at the charity stripe, finishing with just six points. He added two assists, two rebounds, a steal and a block for Indiana. Despite his off performance, the Pacers were able to hold on for the 89-84 win over the Bulls.
Analysis: Collison didn't live up to the potential some Fantasy owners were hoping as they drafted him higher than he should have gone. The Pacers would lose another close one to the Bulls -- 88-84 -- as they are now looking at a 3-0 hole in this first-round series.

"With his energy, he makes Derrick play on both ends of the court. He's definitely a big piece of what they're doing.''
Analysis: Collison is definitely a big part of Indiana's game plan, so not having him will hurt. "I don't think people realize how good a team Indiana is,'' Griffin said. "We don't want to sell them short and say we're playing bad. I just think they're playing great. Give them credit. They pushed us to the limit twice on our home court. We'll try to return the favor and play well on their home court.'' If Collison can't play the Pacers will turn to A.J. Price and T.J. Ford to shadow Rose. News: After stepping on a cameraman's foot in the second quarter of Monday's Game 2 loss to the Bulls, Indiana guard Darren Collison's status for Game 3 on Thursday is uncertain. "Right now, it's just real sore and swelled up pretty bad," Collison said after the game. The two days in between games may allow for the speedy guard to suit up, but his coach knows how much of a blow to the team it is when the point guard is not out there. "You always miss your leader, just from a cohesiveness standpoint and everything," coach Fran Vogel said. "I thought those guys filled in admirably. So I mean they played well, but just from a cohesiveness standpoint, we missed him." "We don't care who we're playing, we're going to try to win."

Collison paced the team with four assists and added a steal in 29 minutes of playing time, less than one minute less than his season average.

Fantasy owners should stay in tune with the injury situation as it develops just in case it lingers longer than one night. Collison is a quality floor general in his second NBA season, averaging 13.4 points and just over five assists per game on the year. News: After some spotty performances so far in March, Indiana guard Darren Collison is beginning to pick up his game offensively. He made another case for that direction Sunday against the Knicks, when he scored 16 points on solid 6 of 10 shooting. Analysis: Collison looked like he might have been turning a corner in his last game against Dallas, but went right back to his old ways during Saturday's drubbing in Houston. For whatever reason the 23-year-old has struggled to regain his form of a season ago and has been one of the biggest disappointments of this Fantasy season. He is averaging just 10.8 points and 3.0 assists over his last five contests and should be considered nothing more than a low-end Fantasy at this point of the season.

Collison shot 7 of 14 from the floor on his way to 16 points. He added three assists and a rebound in 32 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Collison has now scored in double figures three straight times after the mini-slump offensively. His assists have been there throughout February, as he is averaging more than six per night -- easily the most of any month this season. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with the 23-year-old in all formats moving forward, as he has found a way to bounce back after some sub-par performances.
News: Indiana guard Darren Collison hasn't lived up to some Fantasy owners expectations this year, but he was a gamble on Draft Day. After filling in for Chris Paul last season many owners thought Collison would be a high-end guard this season with the Pacers. Collison started 37 of his 76 games for New Orleans in the 2009-10 season, averaging 18.8 points, 9.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds in place of Paul. While he's still producing solid numbers, a few people might be upset they drafted him at the beginning of Round 4. Under interim coach Frank Vogel, Collison has more freedom and is truly running the point. In nine games in February he is averaging 12.9 points and a season-high 6.2 assists per contest.
Analysis: Collison is currently ranked No. 38 in Fantasy scoring in CBSSports.com standard leagues. That translates into a low-end starting guard in the majority of formats. Still plenty of value, but not where he was taken. But Collison has a chance to change his current position. Everyone knows he has the ability to produce, it's only a matter of time until he reaches that potential. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with him in the second half of the season.
News: Indiana G Darren Collison has his best scoring performance in over a week on Saturday night against Milwaukee. He scored 22 points and dished out three assists in the 103-97 win. He went 6 of 13 from the floor, including 1 for 2 from downtown, and converted 9 of 11 free throws. "I think he's making it easier for us to play more to our strengths," Collison said of interim coach Frank Vogel. "For myself, he's making it easier for me to get to the paint and create for myself and others. For Danny, he's making it easier for him to get better shots. And Roy Hibbert, he's keeping him at the blocks. He's just simplifying the game for us." Collison, who played 37 minutes, also chipped in with three rebounds and a blocked shot in the victory.
Analysis: Collison scored just eight points in his last outing so it was nice to see him get back on track Saturday. He is averaging 14 points with 5.2 assists and three rebounds over his last five contests, and is shooting 40 percent from both the field and beyond the arc over that span. He has excelled since getting out of the shadow of Chris Paul in New Orleans and should continue to be a solid contributor for Indiana. With Miami and Detroit on the schedule for Week 17 (Feb. 14-20), continue to view Collison as a solid Fantasy guard in most formats.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison continues to contribute solid play for Indianapolis, scoring 15 points for the second straight night in Wednesday's 104-103 win over the Bobcats. He shot 7 of 14 from the floor, burying the only 3-point shot he attempted in the process. Collison assisted on five buckets offensively to compliment the scoring. On the other end of the floor, he pulled down a pair of rebounds, stole two passes and even blocked a career-high two shots in 33 minutes of floor time. He even contested the potential game-winning shot from Stephen Jackson, which was off the mark to secure a Pacers victory.
Analysis: We knew that Collison was a solid scorer and distributor with the ability to play solid defense, but two blocks in one night is a milestone in itself. Not only was it a career-mark, but the second-year man had all of three total blocks coming into Wednesday night's win. In more important stat columns, Collison has scored in double-figures in seven straight games after a three-game stretch in which he failed to twice. His assists continue to be there -- even on the upswing -- as he has distributed more in each of the last three months. Under new coach Frank Vogel his numbers have been getting better and better as he allows guards to play with freedom. We don't see any reason why they wouldn't continue to moving forward. Utilize Collison as a high-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star Pacers interim coach Frank Vogel is going to let his guards have more freedom to run the offense. "We've sort of changed the role of the point guard in this team's offense, and we're going to get the ball in their hands and they're going to be more responsible than they were in the past for running this team," Vogel said. "I'm trying to put this team in their hands. The true sense of the point guard is to be another coach on the floor, and that's what the role of our point guard will be." The changes are taking part in practice and probably won't make it onto the court just yet. While Vogel doesn't want change things too much, too quick, Darren Collison is ready to pick up the tempo. "I've been waiting to hear that," Collison said. "That's my game because it's easier for me to create for others and create for myself. This is how I wanted to play when they traded for me. I'll be ready for it."
Analysis: The Pacers want to push the tempo and set up the pick-and-roll moving forward. Collison seems excited about the change as he adjusts to his fifth coach in just under two years. Over his last five games, Collison has picked up the pace. He's averaging 15.4 points, 7.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds per contest over that span. In 37 starts last year, he averaged 18.8 points, 9.1 assists and 3.5 boards per contest. Collison has potential to be a high-end guard option in all Fantasy formats, and the way he's playing recently his stock is on the rise. Continue to monitor his play under new coach Vogel and see if his numbers keep getting better.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison has been in the league for less than two seasons, but is now on his fifth coach -- Frank Vogel. Vogel was named interim coach after the Pacers fired Jim O'Brien on Sunday. "It's crazy, the coaching changes," Collison told the Indianapolis Star. "System-wise, you have to be able to adjust. That was the biggest thing coming from New Orleans to here. From Jim to Frank, it's going to be different. We'll see what happens."
Analysis: Collison hasn't lived up to the hype that surrounded him entering this season, but has been a serviceable low-end starting guard in most Fantasy formats. Over his last five games he's averaging 12.0 points, 5.6 assists and 2.8 boards per contest. Collison should see around the same amount of playing time (30 minutes) under Vogel. It is unclear how long it'll take him to adjust to another new coach and their style of play, so owners should monitor Collison over the week. If he keeps up his current production, Collison will remain a solid low-end starting guard.
News: Indiana guard Darren Collison tallied 21 points and four assists in the Pacers' 111-96 loss to Orlando on Wednesday night. Collison managed 10 of 18 from the field and missed all three of his attempts from 3-point range but still finished with the highest point output in his last four games. "I think we've just got to stay with it," Collison said. "Every game, we're playing hard. We're right in it. We've just got to stay focused and keep that faith alive." He added two rebounds in 37 minutes as Indiana lost its sixth consecutive game.
Analysis: Collison drained 10-plus shots for the third time this season and second in his last five games. He continues to fire away from the field but the results have been fleeting as Collison is now 34 for 74, including 3 of 13 from 3-point range, in his last five games. Still, Pacers coach Jim O'Brien sounds committed to Collison in the startling lineup with his 13.7 points per game average. Fantasy owners should keep him active in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Pacers point guard Darren Collison did his best to get Indiana a win over the Clippers on Monday. Indiana found out you just can't stop the Clippers. Collison scored 30 points on 10 of 17 shooting over 39 minutes and the Pacers still fell as Blake Griffin had 47 points. Collison hit two 3-pointers and added eight assists in the performance. He also had three steals and one rebound.
Analysis: Collison can be highly inconsistent with his shot and scoring as he went just 4 of 16 on Friday and put up 10 points. He is averaging almost 14 points per game on the year but has that up to 18.2 over his last five contests. He's beginning to hit more 3-pointers and his passing has been superb. Collison is playing well and can be active in many Fantasy formats right now.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison turned in another solid performance in Tuesday's 111-103 win over the 76ers. Collison notched a double-double in the contest with 21 points and a season-high 13 assists. He shot 8 of 15 from the field in the victory and also chipped in with three steals and a rebound in 37 minutes. "He did a nice job," Pacers coach Jim O'Brien told the Indianapolis Star. "Going small is going to benefit Darren as much as anybody because it's hard to come off our perimeter. If we put him in enough pick-and-rolls, he's going to get good looks at the basket." Collison is averaging 17.2 points and 7.0 assists over his last five contests.
Analysis: Collison has been somewhat of a disappointment this season after his strong finish with the Hornets last year. However he has been playing much better of late, scoring in double digits in six straight games. Collison's increased scoring seems in some part related to the fact he has been more aggressive driving the lane. He has only attempted six 3-pointers in 2011 while getting to the free-throw line 15 times over that stretch. Fantasy owners should continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy guard for the time being, but Collison's value could increase if he continues to play well.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison has had at least five assists in four straight games after Friday's outing against the Spurs. Collison dished out six assists and scored 12 points in Indiana's 90-87 loss to San Antonio. He shot 3 for 11 from the field -- missing both his 3-point attempts -- and nailing all six of his foul shots. Collison added three rebounds for the Pacers in his 30 minutes on the court.
Analysis: Despite not playing as well as many Fantasy owners hoped, Collison is still producing enough to be a low-end starting guard. Over his last five games he's averaging 14.2 points, 5.2 assists and 3.8 boards per contest. Collison is also shooting 50 percent from downtown over that span. He has potential to produce better numbers, so owners can only wait and see. If he starts posting numbers like he did in New Orleans last season, he'll be worth using in more leagues.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison had his best game in a week on Friday against the Wizards. Collison shot 8 for 14 from the field -- going 2 for 3 from downtown -- finishing with 18 points. He added six assists, four rebounds and a steal in his 30 minutes of action. Collison and the Pacers would win the game, 95-86, ending a three-game schneid.
Analysis: Collison is averaging 12.2 points, 4.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds over his last five games. That's right around what he has been averaging this year, which is not what Fantasy owners were hoping for. Many people expected big things from Collison after he filled in for Chris Paul last season. Unfortunately, Collison hasn't live up to the hype, but he is still worth using in Fantasy leagues. Consider him a low-end starting guard for now, and hope he starts the new year off on the right foot.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison started and logged 28 minutes on Sunday against the Grizzlies. He had been dealing with an ankle injury during the week, but had enough time to play for Indiana. He shot 3 for 8 from the field -- missing his lone 3-pointer -- finishing with six points. Collison added five rebounds and four assists. The Pacers would lose to the Grizzlies, 104-90.
Analysis: Collison has been a disappointment to many Fantasy owners this season. Expectations were high after his solid performance last year when he filled in for Chris Paul. Collison is averaging 12.2 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per outing over his last five games. Those numbers aren't bad, but not what some Fantasy owners thought they were getting when drafting him. Heading into Week 10 (Dec. 27-Jan. 2) owners should view Collison as a No. 3 or No. 4 guard option in standard leagues. The Pacers play four games during the scoring period -- against Boston, New York and Washington twice.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Pacers G Darren Collison (ankle) was able to practice on Tuesday. Collison said after Monday's game against the Hornets that his left ankle would be fine. He twisted it after stepping on a teammate's foot in the second half of Monday's game. He tried to tell coach Jim OBrien that he was okay, but his coach instructed Brandon Rush to go in for him. I subbed him because he was limping, OBrien said. He said he was okay, so I said, Why are you limping?
Analysis: Collison has been a major disappointment this season considering the expectations he developed by putting up huge numbers last year in place of Chris Paul in New Orleans. However, games like Monday's 18-5-5 stat line indicate he can still be quite useful in Fantasy. View him as a viable low-end starter and play him based on matchups. Over his last five games, he is averaging 12.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds.

I subbed him because he was limping, OBrien said. He said he was okay, so I said, Why are you limping?
Analysis: Fantasy owners should still consider him day-to-day going forward. He has been a major disappointment this season considering the expectations he developed by putting up huge numbers last year in place of Chris Paul in New Orleans. However, games like Monday's 18-5-5 stat line indicate he can still be quite useful in Fantasy. View him as a viable low-end starter and play him based on matchups. Over his last five games, he is averaging 12.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds.
News: Indiana guard Darren Collison left Monday's game with just two minutes remaining with a sprained left ankle. He had a solid game before the injury as he shot 8 for 11 from the field to score 18 points in the win over the Hornets. He added five rebounds, five assists and two steals over 34 minutes. He is day to day.
Analysis: Collison is starting to shoot well again and is averaging 12.8 points, 3.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game over his last five. That is a bit of a struggle and now he's dealing with the injury. If he stands to miss any time, this could be an opportunity for T.J. Ford to get back into favor. Collison is worth using in most Fantasy leagues, when healthy.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison's struggles continued in Friday's 108-99 loss to the Clippers. Collison scored just five points in the contest on 1 of 4 shooting from the floor. He went 3 of 4 from the charity stripe and also chipped in with six assists and five rebounds in 28 minutes.
Analysis: Collison has now scored in single digits in three of his past five games and again was benched in the fourth quarter. Coach Jim O'Brien continues to defer in favor of T.J. Ford and Brandon Rush late in ball games, which obviously is hurting Collison's production. The Pacers only play twice during Fantasy Week 9 (Dec. 20-26), so Fantasy owners may want to sit Collison in the upcoming scoring period. He is only worth stating in the deepest of leagues at this point.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison scored just eight points and dished out five assists on Saturday against the Hawks. He played 24 minutes, but sat towards the end of the game, as Indiana was playing catch up. He shot 3 for 7 from the field -- hitting one 3-pointer -- and knocking down his lone foul shot. Collison grabbed three rebounds and made a steal in a game the Pacers just didn't seem to get going in. They would lose to Atlanta, 97-83.
Analysis: Collison has been averaging just 11.4 points, 2.8 boards and 3.6 assists over his last five games. All of those numbers are below his season totals and what some Fantasy owners were hoping he'd produce this season. Some were banking on his numbers to end last year when he was still on New Orleans. For now, owners should just hope they didn't reach on him on Draft Day and continue viewing him as a No. 2 or No.3 Fantasy guard.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison left early in Monday's game with a leg problem but was healthy enough to play well in a closely-contested loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday. Collison scored 17 points on 7 of 16 shooting with a 3-pointer in the loss. He added three rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Analysis: Collison continues to play well for the Pacers and the injury is not going to stop him. He's shooting well and contributing a nice number of steals. Collison is averaging 14.4 points and 3.4 assists and rebounds per game over his last five. He's not the best Fantasy guard out there, but he's also Indiana's starter. He's a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy guard at the moment.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison shot 6 for 7 from the field on Monday night against the Raptors. The guard scored 17 points in the game and grabbed three rebounds, but left with a slight leg injury after 25 minutes. With the Pacers comfortably ahead, Indiana chose to rest Collison the rest of the way. He is day to day.
Analysis: Collison was seen limping off the court and he never returned with the Pacers comfortably ahead on Monday. We don't believe he's that injured and is likely not going to miss any time at all. Collison has been playing well, averaging 13.8 points, 3.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game over his last five. He's not the best Fantasy guard out there, but he's also Indiana's starter. He's a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy guard at the moment.
News: Pacers G Darren Collison shot 5 of 10 from the field on Tuesday night in Sacramento, scoring 15 points. He added six assists and four rebounds. Collison is averaging 12.2 points in five games since returning from an ankle injury.
Analysis: Collison has not been lighting it up since returning from his ankle injury, but he is producing across the board. Collison's 13.9 points per game are well below the expectations Fantasy owners had coming into the season after his success as a starter last season for the Hornets. He averaged 18.8 points and 9.1 assists per game and still possesses that type of upside, but Fantasy owners should adjust expectations to view him as more of a No. 2/3 guard for now.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison struggled in his first game back from an ankle injury on Monday. Collison didn't struggle Tuesday against Cleveland, however. He played 34 minutes and shot 5 for 11 from the field to score 18 points. Collison had a great all-around game as he added seven assists, six rebounds and a steal. He also connected on his only 3-point attempt.
Analysis: Collison managed just four points on 2 of 8 shooting in his first game back but was much more in rhythm on Tuesday. This is more of what you can expect from him now that he's Indiana's main man at the point. Collison is worth getting active in a large amount of Fantasy leagues.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison returned to the starting lineup on Monday in a big win over the Miami Heat. Collison missed the team's previous three games after suffering an ankle injury on Nov. 13 in Cleveland. He returned to play 22 minutes and didn't fare all that well, despite being very active on the floor. While he definitely made a difference, Collison shot just 2 for 8 from the field to score four points. He added three assists, two rebounds and turned the ball over twice.
Analysis: Collison's assist numbers are well below those that made him a breakout star last season while replacing Chris Paul due to injury in New Orleans, but his 15 points per game, four assists and over a steal per game still make him a quality play. He struggled in his return on Monday but better days are to come for Collison.
News: Pacers G Darren Collison (ankle) is in the starting lineup for Monday's game in Miami, according to the Indianapolis Star. Collison missed the team's previous three games after suffering an ankle injury on Nov. 13 in Cleveland.
Analysis: Collison will be slated for four games during Fantasy Week 5 (Nov. 22-28) and Fantasy owners should consider him a safe play in weekly formats and daily leagues now that he's back in the fold. Collison's assist numbers are well below those that made him a breakout star last season while replacing Chris Paul due to injury in New Orleans, but his 15 points per game, four assists and over a steal per game still make him a quality play.
News: Indiana guard Darren Collison didn't play in his third straight game on Saturday night. The Pacers guard has been dealing with and ankle sprain. He is considered day to day by the team. T.J. Ford got the start again in Collison's absence.
Analysis: Collison is averaging 15.1 points per game in eight starts this season for Indiana. With his status uncertain heading into Week 5 (Nov. 22-28), Fantasy owners should have a healthy alternative ready just in case Collison can't go on Monday against Miami. When healthy, Collison should be viewed as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Indiana coach Jim O'Brien said guard Darren Collison won't be in the lineup on Saturday against Orlando, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Collison has now missed three straight games with an ankle sprain.
Analysis: Collison is averaging 15.1 points per game in eight starts. T.J. Ford got the start again in Collison's absence. Fantasy owners should continue to keep him reserved in all leagues until he's able to take the court again. Keep monitoring him before setting those Week 5 (Nov. 22-28) lineups. When healthy, Collison should be viewed as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: According to the team's official website, Indiana guard Darren Collison was not in the lineup on Thursday as he missed his second straight game with an ankle sprain. He had been expected to be back against the Clippers, but was not yet ready. Its a little worse than we thought, Pacers coach Jim OBrien said. I dont think its going to linger. Collison is averaging 15.1 points per game in eight starts. T.J. Ford got the start again in Collison's absence.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues will want to reserve Collison for Thursday's game and keep tabs on him. The Pacers play again on Saturday versus the Magic to finish up the scoring period. When he's healthy, owners should keep Collison active as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Pacers PG Darren Collison, who missed Tuesday's game after spraining his left ankle in practice Monday, is expected to miss Thursday's game against the Clippers as well, according to the Indianapolis Star. T.J. Ford figures to start in his absence.
Analysis: Collison hasn't been bad as the Pacers point guard, but he hasn't lived up to the lofty standards Fantasy owners set for him at the beginning of the season, averaging 15.1 points, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. When he returns, you'll want to get him active as a No. 3 Fantasy guard.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison was held out of Tuesday's game against the Hawks with an ankle injury. T.J. Ford got the start in his place at point guard. Collison is listed as day to day.
Analysis: Collison has been decent as the starting point guard for the Pacers but has been a little disappointing for Fantasy purposes, averaging 15.1 points, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He shouldn't miss too much time with his ankle injury although Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his progress to see when he will be able to get back on the court. Collison can be considered a No. 3 Fantasy guard, when healthy.
News: Pacers PG Darren Collison, who injured his ankle in practice Monday, will miss Tuesday's game against the Hawks, according to NBA.com. T.J. Ford will start in his place.
Analysis: Collison has been decent as the starting point guard for the Pacers but has been a little disappointing for Fantasy purposes, averaging 15.1 points, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He's still worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy guard, but you should obviously sit him for now.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Darren Collison injured an ankle in practice on Monday afternoon. He is now considered questionable for Tuesday's game against the Hawks. If Collison is not ready for Tuesday, T.J. Ford would make his first start of the season in his absence.
Analysis: Collison is averaging 15.1 points, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game through his first eight contests with the Pacers. Those numbers aren't bad, but are well below the expectations many Fantasy owners had for him when they drafted him as high as Round 4 in many drafts. The Pacers are slated for just three games in Week 4 (Nov. 15-21), which makes Collison a player you'll have to start at your own risk this week.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison played 24 minutes in Saturday's win over the Cavaliers. His backup, T.J. Ford, also played 24 minutes and matched Collison with five assists of his own. Collison went 4 for 7 from the field, finishing with eight points, so he still got the edge over Ford there. He also blocked a shot in the Pacers, 99-85 win.
Analysis: Collison didn't grab a board on Saturday -- a season low -- but improved off his zero assist night in Indiana's last game. Fantasy owners should be worried by Ford's equal playing time. If he keeps losing minutes because of his lackluster performances, his Fantasy value will drop. The Pacers play three games in Week 4 (Nov. 15-21), so owners should monitor this developing situation to see how it plays out. It may be wise to grab Ford, if available, just in case he takes over the starting job.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison took 14 shots on Tuesday in a blowout win over the Nuggets. Collison only missed twice on the entire night as he went 12 for 14, including 4 for 5 from deep, to score 29 points. Collison, who played 31 minutes, added six assists, three rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: Collison has been playing well but Tuesday's performance was another level. Basically, he hit a bunch of the shots he normally misses as he took as many as he generally does. Collison is averaging 16.2 points, 4.2 assists, 2.0 steals and a 3-pointer per game over his last five. He is playing like a guard worth using in all Fantasy formats.
News: Pacers guard Darren Collison scored in 19 points in Friday's 94-90 loss to the Bucks. Collison played 33 minutes and shot 5 or 13 from the floor in the loss. He went 1 of 3 from behind the arc and also chipped in with five steals, two assists, one rebound and a block.
Analysis: Collison has had no problem scoring so far this season, but is only averaging 4.4 assists through his first five games. He was drafted highly this draft season due to his strong production last season in New Orleans while replacing an injured Chris Paul. It might take a little while until Collison gets comfortable running Jim O'Brian's system, so we expect his numbers to increase as the season progresses. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy guard in most formats at this point.
News: Making his Pacers debut, Darren Collison put up a strong performance in Wednesday's game at the Spurs. He scored 19 points with seven assists in 32 minutes while also chipping in a pair of rebounds. He shot 7 for 13 from the field and 1 for 2 from beyond the arc.
Analysis: Collison was drafted highly this draft season due to his strong production last season in New Orleans while replacing an injured Chris Paul. These are the types of numbers Fantasy owners were hoping for, though there was some trepidation that he may not be able to follow up on his production in a new system in Indiana. So far, so good.
News: Pacers PG Darren Collison had his contract option picked up for next season on Monday. Collison joined the Pacers from New Orleans back on Aug. 11 after he averaged 12.4 points and 5.7 assists per game last season.
Analysis: Collison has started all five preseason games for the Pacers and is playing 27 minutes per game. With that time he's put up 13.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.8 boards and almost a steal per game. Fantasy owners should view Collison as a No. 2 guard as he'll get plenty of minutes to produce. He's still young and could be a liability in the turnover category, but is well worth snatching on Draft Day.
News: Guard Darren Collison scored 19 points for the Pacers on an 8-for12 (1 for 2 from downtown) shooting performance in Wednesday's preseason win over the Timberwolves. He made both of his free throw attempts and dished out three dimes. He committed four turnovers and is still adjusting to his new teammates. "He scored well," coach Jim O'Brien said. "He has a long way to go defensively, a long way to go." Collison did not record a steal on Wednesday.
Analysis: Collison filled in for Chris Paul last season and was a nice contributor for New Orleans and Fantasy owners. He averaged 18.8 points and 9.1 assists as a starter in 37 games last year while Paul was out of action. Collison has secured a starting spot in Indiana, as they've been missing someone to run the point for some time now. That's why the Pacers made the trade in the offseason and they hope he pans out. In Fantasy leagues, owners should view Collison as a No. 2 guard as he'll get plenty of minutes to produce. He's still young and could be a liability in the turnover category, but is well worth snatching on Draft Day.
News: Indiana PG Darren Collison debuted with his new team on Wednesday in the first preseason game against Memphis. Collison shot just 3 for 9 from the field -- he went 0 for 2 from deep -- to score nine points over 24 minutes. He dished out five assists and picked up two steals with three turnovers.
Analysis: Collison will get a real chance to flourish in Indiana after proving he could be a high-end Fantasy contributor last season when Chris Paul went down to injury. He averaged 18.8 points and 9.1 assists as a starter in 37 games filling in for Paul last year. He'll be the team's starter in 2010-11, but we caution owners not to invest too much of your Fantasy hopes in Collison repeating that level of production.
News: Point guard Darren Collison was traded from the Hornets to the Pacers in a four-team, five-player deal. "I think it helps out tremendously," team president Larry Bird said. "I think this was the piece that we needed. The vision I have for this franchise is to get the core group up and ready to go as quick as we can, and this piece here will accelerate everything."
Analysis: This is excellent news for Fantasy owners as Collison will get a real chance to flourish in Indiana after proving he could be a high-end Fantasy contributor last season when Chris Paul went down to injury. He averaged 18.8 points and 9.1 assists as a starter in 37 games filling in for Paul last year. He'll be the team's starter in 2010-11, but we caution owners not to invest too much of your Fantasy hopes in Collison repeating that level of production.
News: The Hornets official team Web site reports that rookie guard Darren Collison said he plans to attend the team's summer league practices this year in Las Vegas. Games for the 2010 NBA Summer League are scheduled for July 9-18. Collison said his biggest area of summer concentration may be on taking better care of the ball, after experiencing a few high-turnover games this season. Collison's assist-to-turnover ratio as a rookie was 2.1 (he totaled 432 assists and 202 turnovers). "Turnovers really haunt me," Collison said. "It really makes me angry as a point guard. ... I definitely will be more conscious of my turnovers next season."
Analysis: Collison had a tremendous rookie year with Chris Paul (knee, hand) missing most of the season with injuries. Collison played in 76 games and averaged 12.5 points, 5.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds. It's a good sign that he wants to improve his game, and next year he will likely go back to being a reserve with Paul healthy. Still, the Hornets could use Collison in tandem with Paul, and we like Collison with a late-round pick in all leagues in 2010-11.
News: Hornets guard Darren Collison continues to shine with Chris Paul (finger) out for the year. Collison had 17 points, 11 assists, five rebounds and three steals Sunday against Minnesota. He has scored at least 17 points in his past three games since Paul went down.
Analysis: Collison has played well to close the season and should finish the year strong. Keep him active in all leagues for the Hornets' final game of the year Wednesday at Houston.
News: Hornets PG Darren Collison will get back his starting job for the final four games of the season after it was announced Chris Paul is done for the year because of a ligament tear in the middle finger of his right hand on Wednesday.
Analysis: Collison was awesome when Paul injured himself earlier in the year and missed a bunch of time. In fact, he was so good, some wondered -- ridiculously, we might add -- whether or not the Hornets were better with the former Bruin at the helm. Collison is averaging 18.2 points per game as a starter over 33 games this season and that comes with nine assists and 3.5 boards. As a starter, he is a must-start Fantasy guard and a solid Rotisserie play in all leagues.
News: Hornets G Darren Collison had 17 points off the bench in Tuesday's game against the Lakers. He added three assists and three rebounds in just 21 minutes. The 21 minutes were his lowest total since Jan. 29.
Analysis: Jan. 29 was the last game Chris Paul was able to play in prior to missing 25 games due to a knee injury. In Paul's absence, Collison flourished as a high-end Fantasy contributor and has remained a very solid Fantasy option in Paul's first four games back. However, and despite the solid stat line Monday, this game was the first sign at a significant decline in playing time. Fantasy owners should still consider him a viable Fantasy option in just about every format, but be aware that a dip in production would be likely if his playing time continues to take a hit. Collison had played 30-plus minutes in Paul's first three games back.
News: Hornets G Darren Collison was a perfect 10 of 10 from the field in Saturday's game against Portland, playing 38 minutes off the bench. He also added five assists and a rebound, playing behind Chris Paul for a third straight game since his return.
Analysis: Collison has actually scored more points in each of the first three games since Paul's return and has not lost much of the Fantasy value he gained while CP3 was injured. Many Fantasy owners sat Collison this week in anticipation of a drop in numbers, which could still be coming as Paul returns to full strength and Collison may have to split minutes with Marcus Thornton. But it does not appear that if a drop comes, it will be as dramatic as once feared. With a favorable four-game slate ahead, there is room for all three guards to produce.
News: Hornets G Darren Collison had 17 points, seven assists and four rebounds in 31 minutes off the bench Wednesday against Cleveland. He outproduced Chris Paul for a second consecutive game since the guard returned from a 25-game absence due to a knee injury.
Analysis: Collison out-played Paul, but he did see his minutes go down for a second straight game while Paul's minutes increased. Paul went from 21 minutes to 31 minutes while Collison has gone from 40, to 35, to 31 minutes in his last three games. Paul has retained his high-end Fantasy value even with Paul back, but Paul has been understandably rusty. It remains to be seen how Collison and Marcus Thornton could both maintain their high-level production once (or if) Paul gets back to full strength, but the good news is that the Hornets play some favorable matchups in Week 23 (March 29-April 4) that should lead to high-scoring games where all three guards could conceivably turn in good numbers.
News: Hornets G Darren Collison came off the bench in Chris Paul's return from a 25-game absence Monday night against Dallas. Collison played 35 minutes, however, and scored 16 points with eight assists and four rebounds. Paul played just 21 minutes and finished with only 11 points and three assists. Marcus Thornton played alongside both, scoring 28 points in 37 minutes.
Analysis: There are a few things to digest here. For one, Paul returned from a 25-game absence and looked rusty and in need some conditioning. He did not play a full game and we may not yet have seen the actual impact of his return on Collison and Thornton. Secondly, the Hornets were able to rack up 115 points against a good defensive team int he Mavericks. They aren't likely to score 115 points per night the rest of the way. Under more normal circumstances, the anxiety that caused many Fantasy owners to stay away from Collison and Thornton in Week 22 despite their success while Paul was out could still be warranted. As Paul gets healthier and in better game shape, he'll get the majority of the minutes at the point. That will leave Collison and Thornton to battle each other for minutes and touches alongside Paul, which could limit both players to being more low-end Fantasy guard options than what they have shown. Make the most of their remaining Fantasy appeal while it lasts, but don't think that this game means they're going to be this good going forward necessarily.
News: According to Mavericks play-by-play announcer Mark Followill and the team's official Twitter feed, Hornets G Chris Paul (knee) is in the starting lineup for Monday night's game against Dallas. Paul was considered a game-time decision for the game by the team. Paul will start alongside Marcus Thornton with Darren Collison moving to the bench.
Analysis: This is the moment Collison's Fantasy owners have been dreading. Collison will lose much of the Fantasy value he has enjoyed in 30-plus games as a starter this season. The Hornets still plan on playing him in heavy rotation alongside Paul, but he won't be able to maintain that high-end Fantasy value he enjoyed. He likely goes from a No. 1 Fantasy guard to a No. 4 caliber option. Adjust expectations accordingly.
News: According to the Dallas Morning News, Hornets G Chris Paul (knee) is considered a game-time decision for Monday night's game against the Hornets. According to the report, Paul is "50-50" on making his return Monday night. The Hornets' official Web site reported earlier Monday that the team would not make a decision on the availability of Paul until after the team's shootaround. Darren Collison has been starting in Paul's absence.
Analysis: The Mavericks and Hornets play on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET, which means a decision may not come until after lineup deadlines. If it does, we'll have it for you here as soon as it breaks, but Fantasy owners should be prepared to take a leap of faith. The Hornets play three games in Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28). As for Collison, the Hornets have said they'll look to play Collison alongside Paul and will continue to give him heavy minutes, but the chances that he maintains the high-end production he's enjoyed while Paul has been away are not good. He will likely go from being a No. 1 guard type to more of a No. 3. Adjust expectations.
News: According to the team's official Web site, the Hornets will not make a decision on the availability of G Chris Paul (knee) until after Monday's morning shootaround. The Hornets play the Mavericks on Monday night in New Orleans. Darren Collison continues to start in his absence.
Analysis: Fantasy owners will more than likely know about Paul's status for Monday prior to lineup deadlines locking Monday night. The Hornets are looking at a three-game slate in Fantasy Week 22 (March 22-28) and a rusty Paul coming off a long layoff to face Cavaliers and Trail Blazers is not a lock to start in all leagues, but if he is cleared to play in all three games he'll be activated in just about every format. When the official word comes from the Hornets, we'll have it.
News: For the fourth time in his last five games, Hornets G Darren Collison scored in the teens, getting 15 points in a loss to the Nuggets on Thursday. Collison shot 5 of 15 from the floor while adding six assists and three rebounds.
Analysis: Collison continues to play solid and consistent basketball. He is averaging 16.6 points and 10.8 assists over his last five games. He is a must-start Fantasy option. However, Chris Paul could be returning to the lineup within the next week or two so Fantasy owners should keep tabs on Paul's situation.
News: The Hornets on Wednesday at the Warriors were again without leading scorer Chris Paul, who underwent left knee surgery on Feb. 4 and missed his 23rd straight game. Paul is improving and could be back as early as Saturday against Utah, but coach John Bower said he's likely to keep Paul out until the team returns home Monday against Dallas. Against Golden State, Darren Collison continued his hot play with 20 points, 14 assists and six rebounds.
Analysis: Collison has been a star with Paul out, but this could be the last scoring period where Collison is a must-start Fantasy option. Keep an eye on Paul's status, but use caution when putting Collison in your lineup for Fantasy Week 22 since Paul will likely play against the Mavericks.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Hornets guard Chris Paul is now cutting and moving lateral during his pregame workouts after previously getting medical clearance to begin running last week. Though there is no set date for his return, Paul said he is getting closer toward returning to the lineup after requiring knee surgery Feb. 4. Paul could return this Saturday against Utah or on Monday night at home against Dallas. "It's amazing just weeks ago, I was like will I ever get back," Paul said. "But now to be almost there gives me a lot of hope and something to be excited about. I'm moving pretty good right now, but I still have a little ways to go."
Analysis: This is great news for Paul, and hopefully he's able to play on Saturday against the Jazz to see what kind of game shape he's in heading into Fantasy Week 22. Paul's return will limit the value for rookie guard Darren Collison, who has been great with Paul out. When healthy, Paul is a must-start Fantasy option, and hopefully he doesn't suffer any setbacks in his recovery.
News: According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Hornets G Chris Paul could return "later this week" against Denver or Utah, but he could make his return Monday against Dallas in New Orleans. He was able to run in Monday's practice. Darren Collison continues to start in his place.
Analysis: The report noted that Paul has been able to run without any visible signs of limping. He has been attempting shots in team practices and is traveling with the team on its current road trip. We don't think he'll be back until Saturday's game at the earliest, but that is just an educated guess at this point. There is also still the possibility of a setback which would likely end his season with the Hornets out of realistic playoff contention and Collison playing so well. Paul owners, as well as Collison owners, have no choice but to wait-and-see how this situation develops this week. We'll have you up to date with the latest as it happens.
News: According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Hornets G Chris Paul --who was medically cleared to begin running Friday -- could be a week to 10 days away from returning to action. Hornets Coach Jeff Bower said they will continue to evaluate Pauls progress to determine whether his work load will increase or stay at the same level. But Bower declined to give a set date on Pauls return. Darren Collison continues to play well in his absence.
Analysis: Paul's status remains highly questionable. With the Hornets out of the playoff hunt and with Collison playing so well, there is no real need to push him back into playing a few games down the stretch. The Hornets will have 11 games starting with their March 22 game against Dallas. CP3 owners should continue to keep tabs on his progress and hope for the best. Collison owners will need to pay just as much attention.
News: New Orleans PG Darren Collison is making the great Chris Paul look expendable right now. Collison, hoping to prove he should still get big minutes when CP3 returns, was amazing on Monday night in a win over Golden State. Collison dished out a career-high 20 assists and shot 7 of 12 from the field with two 3-pointers to add 16 points. He also had three steals.
Analysis: Collison decided to score at San Antonio in the Hornets' previous game and had 32 points with just two dimes. In the two games prior to that, he scored 10 and 17 points, respectively, but had 15 and 14 assists in those games. The game before that, he scored 35 points and had three dimes. Whatever he puts his mind to, he accomplishes and he can do it all for the Hornets. Until Paul returns, he will continue to be a must-start.
News: The Hornets official team Web site reports Monday that New Orleans GM/coach Jeff Bower expects injured guard Chris Paul (knee) to return this season. He just doesn't know when that will be. "Our plan is for him to return when he's 100 percent healthy," Bower said. "That's what he wants to do as well. That's what we are working toward." Bower said Paul's "next step is to begin running. He's not begun that process yet." He also added they don't have a target date for Paul to return, but Paul recently said he would be back by the end of March. But Bower said Paul isn't guaranteed to even start running this week. "We're hopeful," Bower said. "But I don't know that yet." With Paul out, rookie Darren Collison will continue to start at point guard for the Hornets.
Analysis: Collison will remain a viable Fantasy option while Paul remains out. Keep an eye on what happens with Paul in his recovery, but Collison should remain active in all Fantasy leagues as long as he continues to start for the Hornets.
News: Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Chris Paul is hopeful that he can return by the end of March. He iWs shooting the basketball and has been able to ride a bicycle, but has not begun to run yet. I dont care if I come back and there are three games left Im playing before the season is over, Paul said. Darren Collison continues to put up high-end numbers in his absence.
Analysis: While CP3 vowed to play again this season, he also mentioned that he would not come back until he is fully healed. "It would be pointless to come back, not be 100 percent and reinjure my knee, said Paul. This news means that Paul likely won't be ready to play a full week until Week 23 at the earliest. Collison eventually will take a big hit to his production once Paul returns, but that may not be for another two weeks.
News: Hornets rookie point guard Darren Collison had 17 points, 14 assists and five steals Wednesday night against Memphis. It was his second double-double in a row and third in his past six games. Collison continues to play well with Chris Paul (knee) out, and there's no timetable yet for when Paul can return. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Paul, who is four weeks removed from surgery on his knee, has still not been given clearance to run. He still doesn't know when he'll get the medical OK to test the knee with at least straight-line running. "I don't know," Paul said. "It's day by day. It depends on how I feel. One day, I come in and feel great, the next day maybe not so great." The Hornets have 20 regular season games remaining, so it's unknown when Paul can return. "We're monitoring his progress. It will be a little while yet, " Hornets Coach Jeff Bower said of Paul. "He's moving along. We're pleased with where he's at now. But he has a way to go."
Analysis: It appears like Collison will remain a quality Fantasy option as long as Paul is out, so keep him active in all leagues. Paul could return soon, but Collison should remain active for Fantasy Week 20 since it appears like Paul will be out for at least another week.
News: Hornets PG Darren Collison dished out 15 assists on Monday in a loss to the Spurs. He added 10 points for his second double-double in his last five contests. Collison shot 5 for 12 from the field and added five rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Collison scored 35 points in the Hornets' previous game at Dallas and is averaging 21 points, 8.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and a 3-pointer per game in his last five. As long as Chris Paul remains out, Collison is a must-start Fantasy PG.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Chris Paul remains on schedule for a possible return in "about two weeks." Paul was ruled out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury sustained in late January. Darren Collison will continue to start in his place.
Analysis: This means that Paul won't be back until Fantasy Week 21 at the earliest -- and that is if he does not suffer any setbacks. Fantasy owners will continue to try to have to be patient. Anyone who is lucky enough to own Collison will get at least another couple of weeks worth of high-end Fantasy production.
News: Hornets PG Darren Collison continues to shine in the absence of Chris Paul, finishing with 22 points and nine assists against the Bucks on Wednesday. He's scored at least 20 points in four of his last five games, and seven of his last eight. In 42 minutes, he shot 7 of 16 from the field, 0 of 1 from 3-point range, adding three rebounds and one steal.
Analysis: Collison is doing more than an adequate job filling in for the injured Chris Paul. Over his last five games he's averaging 22.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 2.2 steals. Is five games too small of a sample size for you? How about averages of 20.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.9 steals through 11 games this month? He is a No. 2 Fantasy guard in any league.
News: Hornets young point guard Darren Collison was fabulous again with Chris Paul injured on Tuesday night in a loss at Cleveland. Collison scored 22 points and dished out 10 assists for his second double-double in his last three games. He added four rebounds and a steal and shot 9 of 19 from the field.
Analysis: Collison is averaging 23 points, just under 10 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game over his last five. Not to mention 2.8 steals and a couple 3-pointers as well. He is playing like a must-start Fantasy guard and this is no fluke. Get him on all rosters and get him active.
News: The plan called for first-round draft pick Darren Collison to spend his rookie season learning the NBA in a backup role behind Chris Paul. The harsh reality is New Orleans will miss the playoffs if Collison is unable to produce in Paul-like fashion while the Hornets' three-time All-Star remains sidelined with a left knee injury. Judging by the rookie's recent starts, the postseason may still be within New Orleans' reach in a couple of weeks, when Paul is expected to return from arthroscopic surgery he had on Feb. 4 for a meniscus tear. Collison has averaged 23.6 points and 8.7 assists in his last six games, during which the Hornets have gone 4-2 and moved one game behind Portland for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference - and two games behind San Antonio for seventh. "Whether they make the playoffs or don't make the playoffs, I think they had a heck of a draft," said Pacers coach Jim O'Brien, whose team lost to the Hornets last week when Collison recorded his first career triple-double. "Any time you have somebody out at the level of a Chris Paul and you're able to still maintain a certain level, I think it's a credit to their coaches and certainly a credit to the guy that's filling in."
Analysis: During New Orleans' last 10 games, Paul has been on the sideline in a suit, acting like Collison's personal coach. Paul is constantly in Collison's ear when the rookie comes to the bench. New Orleans plays four times during Week 18 (Feb. 22-28). At his current pace, that makes Collison a must-start in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Hornets rookie point guard Darren Collison added 26 points on Sunday, the fifth straight game he's had 24 or more. His driving floater with 34.6 seconds left put New Orleans up 96-89. He added four free throws and converted a steal into a fast-break layup in the final half-minute to close out a performance in which he also had nine assists. "I'm just trying to attack as much as I can," Collison said. "Whatever it takes to win games. If I have to use my speed to get inside the paint -- my teammates are all over me talking about trying to use my speed." Collison came in to the game averaging the most assists (8.2) in games started by rookies.
Analysis: Chris Paul remains sidelined, the Hornets play four games during Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 22-28) and Collison continues to play at an elite level. As long as Collison continues at this pace, he remains a No. 1 Fantasy guard and should be starting in all formats.
News: New Orleans G Darren Collison registered his first career triple-double -- the first he could remember at any level, in fact -- with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists, and the Hornets beat the Indiana Pacers 107-101 on Friday night. The first-round pick out of UCLA joined Chris Paul as the only Hornets players to record triple-doubles since former New Orleans point guard Baron Davis had one on Jan. 8, 2005. "It means a lot," Collison said. "I was just going out there and playing and my teammates were just telling me what I needed and being supportive. ... I hope I have a lot more in my career and I was fortunate to have one today. I was just trying to help the team win." Collison's previous high in rebounds was seven. He had 10 in the first half alone.
Analysis: At the pace Collison is going at, Hornets fans will be making Chris Paul a distant memory. Collison is averaging 23.6 points per game over his last five contests while dishing out 8.6 assists and grabbing 5.6 boards. With Paul not expected back for at least another three weeks, Collison makes for a No. 1 Fantasy guard in any format.
News: Rookie Darren Collison had 24 points and nine assists for New Orleans on Wednesday against the Jazz. Unfortunately, Collison hit just 39.1 percent from the field (9 of 23) and 25 percent from 3-point range (1 of 4) in 42 minutes. He kept the turnovers to a minimum (two), while adding four rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Collison has scored 20-plus points for four straight games and has nine assists in three straight. He is having some turnover issues, but what point guard doesn't at times. Collison has really ramped up the effort since Chris Paul went down and is a solid Fantasy start in the meantime. Paul isn't expected back for another three weeks.
News: New Orleans PG Darren Collison had an interesting game to say the least on Wednesday against Boston as the Hornets head into the All-Star break. Collison, continuing to start for the injured Chris Paul, shot 10 of 16 from the field for 25 points and he dished out nine assists. In fact, he was just one assist shy of a triple-double. Except the other stat he was in double figures in was turnovers. That's right. Despite the other solid numbers, Collison also coughed up a franchise-record 10 turnovers. Since the Hornets won the game, all was likely forgiven however.
Analysis: Collison, all kidding aside, has played well in place of CP3. He's averaging 20.4 points, 7.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 steals and over a three per game in his last five as the team heads into the second half of the season. He's also turning the ball over five times per game over that span, but who's counting? Collison should enter the second half of the year as a viable Fantasy point guard in just about any league.
News: Hornets point guard Darren Collison, starting with Chris Paul out with extended injury, went off for the second straight game on Monday at Orlando. The Hornets ended up losing the game but you can't disregard Collison's heroic effort. The former UCLA standout guard scored 27 points on 12 of 21 shooting. He hit a three and added nine assists, three rebounds and four steals.
Analysis: Collison has one nine-point effort in his last five games but is still averaging almost 19 points per game over that span. He's improving with each game and is also averaging 8.0 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and a three per night in his last five. With Paul out until well after the All-Star break, Collison will be a solid option in any Fantasy leagues for a while.
News: Hornets G Darren Collison scored a career-high 24 points as New Orleans defeated Charlotte 104-99 on Saturday. Collison played 42 minutes, shooting 9 of 17 from the floor while adding five rebounds, four assists, and a steal. "I have a chance to use my speed and quickness," Collison said. "Like (assistant coach) Tim Floyd told me, if you have a cannon, shoot it."
Analysis: Collison has been on a tear since filling in for injured G Chris Paul. The Hornets have not really missed a beat and in his last five games, Collison is averaging 16.6 points per game while also setting career-highs in assists and points over that span. He has been more than just a stopgap player and as long he keeps producing, he will remain a viable Fantasy option.
News: Hornets PG Darren Collison continues to play well in Chris Paul's place, scoring 17 points against the 76ers on Friday. It was the third time in four games as a starter he's scored in double figures. He shot 7 of 14 from the field, including 3 of 5 from downtown, adding two rebounds and four assists.
Analysis: Collison is averaging 14.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 11.3 assists in four starts since taking Chris Paul's spot in the Hornets' lineup. He is playing like a solid No. 2 guard, and should continue to do so for the next month or so Paul is sidelined.

News: According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Chris Paul will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery Thursday to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee. The surgery will be performed by Dr. James Andrews. Paul will likely miss up to a month and not play in the Feb. 14 All-Star Game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. But coach Jeff Bower said Wednesday the time frame on Paul's return will not be set until after the surgery. Darren Collison will continue to start in his absence.
Analysis: Paul, who sat out eight games earlier this year with a sprained ankle, was averaging a team-high 20.4 points and an NBA-best 11.2 assists. He was the runner-up to the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant for league MVP in 2007-08 and finished fifth last season. Rookie Darren Collison will continue to start in Paul's place and is playing at the level of a No. 3 guard in any format. Marcus Thornton should also continue to enjoy a boost and we could see Peja Stojakovic go on another nice run like he did earlier this season when Paul missed time. Keep a close eye on the timetable the team sets for Paul following surgery, but it does sound like he won't be available to Fantasy owners until at least March.
News: New Orleans G Darren Collison had 16 points and 14 assists in a 109-100 loss to Phoenix on Monday. Replacing the injured Chris Paul, Collison played 36 minutes shooting 7 of 18 from the field and bringing in four rebounds.
Analysis: In Paul's absence, Collison has been no slouch dishing out 32 assists in his last two games and putting up back-to-back double-doubles. He is only owned in 56 percent of Fantasy leagues and Fantasy owners should heavily consider picking him up seeing that Paul will be out for an extended period of time. If Collison continues to play at this level, he makes a strong case for a solid No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: All-Star point guard Chris Paul hurt his left knee chasing a needless court-length pass by David West Friday night during a 108-106 overtime loss to the Bulls. As a result, Paul will have the knee scoped and is expected to miss at least a month, sources confirmed to CBSSports.com's Ken Berger Sunday night. Darren Collison will replace him in the meantime.
Analysis: When healthy, Paul remains one of the top five options in all of Fantasy hoops. Collison will get the playing time at point guard in Paul's absence and will become a popular pick up off the waiver wire. Collison scored 17 points and added a career-high 18 assists as the Hornets defeated Memphis 109-102 in overtime on Saturday. He has a ton of upside and will have the chance to contribute now that Paul is out. Don't expect Paul-like numbers like he put up on Saturday, but he should be a viable No. 3 or 4 guard option at the least.
News: New Orleans G Darren Collison scored 17 points and added a career-high 18 assists as the Hornets defeated Memphis 109-102 in overtime on Saturday. Collison replaced Chris Paul when the Hornets' leading scorer missed eight games earlier in the season with an ankle injury. New Orleans is 5-4 in games without Paul. Collison's assists not only were a career high, but also a franchise best for a rookie. The previous was 16 by Paul in 2006 against Golden State.
Analysis: Collison played an excellent game in Paul's absence. However, it seems likely that CP3 will be returning to the lineup for Fantasy Week 15 (Feb.1-7). If Paul comes back then Collison has limited Fantasy value, but if Paul is unable to go next week, Collison could be a nice start for Fantasy owners.
News: New Orleans got a bit of a facelift Monday when the Hornets traded shooting guard Devin Brown to the Chicago Bulls for backup 7-foot center Aaron Gray. New Orleans coach Jeff Bower said the move to obtain the 25-year-old Gray, who is averaging 2.3 points a game, "is an opportunity to add a tough player who adds something different to our front line." Bower said that by trading Brown, the Hornets are able to give rookie guards Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton increased playing time. In his first start of the season, Thornton hit 8 of 12 shots and scored 19 points in 38 minutes. "He's a guy with a lot of confidence that doesn't back down, so he's going to be just fine," West said of Thornton.
Analysis: Collison had nine points, two rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes against Portland. Keep an eye on his production and hope the increased playing time he'll get now that Brown is gone will improve his stat line. Collison has the potential to be a No. 4 Fantasy guard in deep leagues.
News: New Orleans G Darren Collison returned to action Friday after being hampered with a knee injury. In seven minutes of play Collison shot 2 of 2 from the floor for four points and one assist.
Analysis: Collison's appeal in Fantasy leagues remains limited and that won't change unless something were to happen to Chris Paul. Keep him off most Fantasy rosters until further notice.
News: New Orleans backup PG Darren Collison (knee) has a bruised knee and did not play on Wednesday against the Clippers. He is day to day with the injury.
Analysis: Collison's appeal in Fantasy leagues remains limited and that won't change unless something were to happen to Chris Paul. Keep him off most Fantasy rosters until further notice.
News: Hornets guard Darren Collison missed Monday's game against the 76ers with a knee injury and is considered day to day.
Analysis: Collison's appeal in Fantasy leagues remains limited and that won't change unless something were to happen to Chris Paul. Keep him off most Fantasy rosters until further notice.
News:Darren Collison has been ruled out for Monday's game in Philadelphia with a bruised knee. He is considered day-to-day.
Analysis: Collison's appeal in Fantasy leagues remains limited and that won't change unless something were to happen to Chris Paul. Keep him off most Fantasy rosters until further notice.
News: Hornets PG Darren Collison totaled two points, three assists and four rebounds in 11 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Jazz. Collison has gone 14 games since scoring in double figures on Dec. 1. He had 20 points against the Lakers on that night.
Analysis: It's no surprise that Collison's numbers have declined since he has gone back to the bench with Chris Paul returning. Collison had the good run in the last half of November because Paul was injured. Until Collison is back in the starting lineup, he remains more of a long-term Fantasy keeper and handcuff option for Paul owners.
News: With the return of PG Chris Paul on Friday, Hornets PG Darren Collison went back to the bench in a win over the Timberwolves. Collison finished with 5 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds in 18 minutes.
Analysis: Those of you who picked up Collison for use while Paul was out can now safely drop him, unless you have the roster room to stash him away in case Paul gets dealt or hurt again.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Chris Paul (ankle) was able to do some full contact practice on Thursday, opening the possibility of a return perhaps Friday night. "I think the best part of it was just actually being back out here," Paul said after practicing. "It wasn't the greatest but I played through some of the pain." In his absence, Darren Collison has stepped up his productivity.
Analysis: Paul seems to have drastically hit the fast forward button on his recovery, which is great news for Fantasy owners -- but not those who own only Collison. Collison has done enough to establish himself as a solid point guard, but he may have to buy his minutes out of the shooting guard spot with Paul healthy. In any case, his production is about to decrease.
News: New Orleans PG Darren Collison has been able to pick up the scoring pace of late with Chris Paul out of the lineup. Over the past five games, Collison has averaged 15.4 points per game with 7.2 assists and four rebounds. He is averagin 33 minutes per game during that span as well.
Analysis: Collison is starting to make an impact in his first NBA season and showing why he was deserving of the 21st overall pick by the Hornets. He is not yet producing at a high enough level to be worth using in standard formats, but he is a viable option in deeper leagues.
News: Hornets G Darren Collison continued his increased production Saturday against Atlanta. He had 22 points with 11 assists, 2 rebounds and was 2 for 2 from beyond the arc. It was his first career double-double.
Analysis: Collison is a rookie, but he will continue to see chances for increased production while Chris Paul remains sidelined. At the moment, there is not timetable for the return of Paul, but the most conservative estimates have him out for at least another week. Collison and the Hornets play just two games in Fantasy Week 5 (Nov. 23-29).
News: Hornets rookie PG Darren Collison, getting an opportunity to start with Chris Paul sidelined by an ankle injury, had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists against the Suns on Thursday. He shot only 4 for 15 from the field, however.
Analysis: Aside from the field-goal percentage, Collison had his best game as a professional Thursday and will get a chance to strut his stuff with Paul sidelined. He likely won't keep the job long enough to matter in standard leagues, but you can take a flier on him in deeper leagues.
News: New Orleans PG Darren Collison had his best game of the season on Friday in the same game that Chris Paul injured himself and might need to miss a few games. Collison scored 18 points on 7 of 14 shooting Friday in a loss to Portland. He added two assists and two steals.
Analysis: Collison could see a boost in minutes and production with Paul out in the coming days but it won't be enough to warrant adding him in Fantasy in anything but the deepest of leagues. Rookie Marcus Thornton is playing even better right now and looks like the more suitable backup to Paul.
News: Hornets rookie PG Darren Collison got a chance to lead the offense with Chris Paul out with an illness Thursday in a preseason game at Golden State. Collison played 31 minutes off the bench and finished with 17 points and five assists. He blamed himself for some of the team's offensive lapses, though. "It's communication, and it starts with the point guard," Collison said. "I thought we broke down the last 10 minutes, but the most important thing was the turnovers. They took advantage of it."
Analysis: Nice to see a rookie point guard take some responsibility, but from a Fantasy perspective, his numbers look pretty good. Unfortunately, he won't get much playing time behind a superstar like Paul, making him more of a project for the Hornets than anything else. Don't bother with him in Fantasy.
News: The Hornets selected guard Darren Collison with the 21st pick in Thursday's NBA Draft. Collison played four years at UCLA where he averaged 14.4 points and 4.7 assists as a senior.
Analysis: Collison will play a backup role behind one of the best guards in the league in Chris Paul. Fantasy owners should not expect much out of him in terms of statistical production, especially as a rookie.
