Report: Raptors' DeMar DeRozan not expected to make road trip

(12/22/2014) As the Raptors embark on their upcoming six-game road trip which starts Monday at Chicago, the team will most likely be without guard DeMar DeRozan for the trip, reports the National Post.

DeRozan has not played since Nov. 28 after sustaining a groin tear. The first game after the Raptors’ road trip is Jan. 8 against the Hornets.

Before suffering the injury, DeRozan averaged 19.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 16 games.

DeRozan was initially expected to miss a month of action, according to a report last week, but has been deemed week-to-week after Friday's re-evaluation. He has averaged 19.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 33.6 minutes per game.

Originally, no timetable was set for DeRozan's return. The Raptors will have a more definitive timeline after DeRozan is re-examined in a week, according to Spears. 

DeRozan is averaging 19.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

There is no timetable for his return to basketball activities.

DeRozan injured himself while falling on the court. He was in obvious pain, and eventually went to the locker room with team trainers. The team announced DeRozan left with a strained left groin. He will not return to the contest.

(11/19/2014) Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan scored a team-high 21 points on 10 of 22 shooting in his team's 95-92 win over the Grizzlies Wednesday.

DeRozan played a team-high 38 minuts in the win, which pushed the Raptors to 9-2 on the season. His 22 shots taken represented his highest shot total in his last six games, and he managed to kick in five rebounds, four assists and two steals. The Raptors will look to stay hot Friday against the Bucks.

(11/9/2014) Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan scored a team-high 24 points on 8 of 12 shooting in his team's 120-88 blowout win over the 76ers Sunday.

DeRozan played just 26 minutes but was able to deliver his third straight 20-point effort as the Raptors picked up their fourth straight win to move to 7-1. He also tallied six rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block to round out the score sheet. DeRozan and the Raptors are set to face the Magic Tuesday.

DeRozan delivered a 26-point performance Saturday and upped his game just one day later, sinking 50 percent of his shots in both games of the back-to-back. He added four steals, three rebounds and one assist in 40 minutes of action Sunday. DeRozan and the Raptors are set to face the Thunder Tuesday.

(11/2/2014) Raptors guards Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan each got to the line early and often, as both players combined for 47 of Toronto's 108 points in a comfortable victory over the Magic in Orlando Saturday night.

Lowry scored 21 points on 5 of 12 shooting from the field, including 2 of 5 from downtown, and 9 of 11 from the free throw line. He added five assists, three rebounds and one steal while logging 33 minutes of game action.

DeRozan led the way with 26 points on 9 of 18 shooting, and 8 of 10 from the charity stripe. He chipped in with eight rebounds, one assist and one steal while logging 30 minutes of a 108-95 victory.

Both players combined for 21 of Toronto's 48 attempts from the free throw line.

''It's not just me being aggressive at getting to the free throw line, it's all of us,'' said DeRozan, per the Associated Press. ''If we get teams in the penalty situation early and take advantage of it, that plays a big part of us being successful.''

(10/29/2014) Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan scored 15 points on just 4 of 16 shooting while grabbing 11 rebounds and recording five steals in his team's 109-102 win over the Hawks in Wednesday's regular-season opener.

DeRozan played a team-high 35 minutes in the win while also tallying three assists and turning the ball over five times. He should have plenty more scoring power in the weeks to come after dealing with an off shooting night Wednesday. The Raptors will take on the Magic Saturday.

(10/1/2014) Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan said he spent a lot of time in the offseason working on his ball-handling skills in order to make him an even more dangerous player in 2014-15, according to the Toronto Sun.

"I kind of wanted to tighten up on a lot of things I didn’t feel comfortable with last year," DeRozan said. "I got a lot stronger, I really worked on my conditioning. … I could probably play a 40-minute game (now).

"I was trying to be more ambidextrous, somewhat, try to get more comfortable with my off hand, finishing with my off hand, doing a lot of little things that probably go unnoticed. I’m just trying to find new challenges, honestly, within myself to find something else to get better."

(3/19/2014) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan snapped out of a mini scoring slump Tuesday, albeit in a 118-113 loss to the Hawks in overtime.

DeRozan scored 29 points in 45 minutes, while shooting 8 of 18 from the field. He did much of his damage from the free-throw line, going 13 of 14 at the charity stripe, while filling up the box score well with 10 rebounds and six assists in the loss.

DeRozan had failed to reach 20 points in three of the team's previous four games, and is averaging his lowest scoring total for a month since December. He is averaging 21.6 points per game in eight March games, while adding 4.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

(2/2/2014) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan played in the second half of a back-to-back set Saturday, and showed that he is fully over his ankle injury in a 106-103 loss to the Trail Blazers.

DeRozan looked to be on his way to a pedestrian game early, as he finished the first half with just eight points and two assists. He came on strong after halftime, eventually finishing the game with 36 points and 12 assists, both of which were team highs in 41 minutes of action. He shot 14 of 29 from the field and turned the ball over just three times as a comeback bid fell just short.

DeRozan has been playing some of the best ball of his career recently, even earning his first All-Star invitation. He is averaging 22.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game, all of which are career-best marks.

DeRozan is returning from a two-game absence caused by ankle issues. Johnson suffered a minor ankle injury Wednesday but will not miss any time. Patterson missed Wednesday's game while dealing with a broken nose.

(1/31/2014) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan and forwards Patrick Patterson and Amir Johnson all took part in practice Friday but remain gametime decisions for Friday's game against Nuggets, Sportsnet reports.

DeRozan has missed two games due to a foot/ankle injury. Patterson missed the team's previous game while having work on his broken nose. Johnson suffered a minor ankle injury while putting up a double-double Wednesday. With all three active early Friday, it seems likely all will be avalable come game time.
