Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan to play Wednesday

(4/15/2015) Guard DeMar DeRozan, who was held out of Tuesday's game for rest reasons, plans to play Wednesday in the team's regular season finale against the Hornets, per TSN. 

The team has been resting the guard in preparation for the playoffs, but DeRozan said he wanted to get back on the court. The guard is averaging 20.1 points in 59 games this season.

The Raptors are 10-point favorites Wednesday.


Raptors' Amir Johnson is active for Tuesday's game; DeRozan resting

(4/14/2015) Raptors forward Amir Johnson is listed as active for Tuesday's game at Boston, the team announced.

Johnson has been dealing with an ankle injury, which caused him to miss the last four games. While Johnson is active, forward Tyler Hansbrough will receive the start.

Meanwhile, guard DeMar DeRozan will be held out to rest. Guard Lou Williams should see his minutes increase with DeRozan out.

The Raptors are 1-point favorites.

(4/8/2015) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan scored a game-high 18 points in Wednesday night's 92-74 win over the Hornets. 

DeRozan went 6 of 16 from the field and missed all three of his three-point attempts. He made 6 of 7 free-throw attempts and and tallied three blocked shots. DeRozan totaled seven assists and two rebounds as well. 

Since being held to 6 points against the Lakers on March 27, DeRozan has scored in double figures five consecutive games.

(3/30/2015) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan notched a career-high 42 points and tied a career-best with 11 rebounds in his team's 99-96 victory over the Rockets on Monday.

DeRozan shot 14 of 27 from the field and was 12 of 17 from the free throw line.

''The most important thing, not only the points, was his defense,'' Raptors coach Dwane Casey said of DeRozan.

The game was DeRozan's first with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds.

DeRozan shot eight of 14 from the field and hit all three of his 3-pointers. He added seven rebounds and three assists. 

The Raptors next host the Knicks on Sunday.

(3/19/2015) Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan went just 4 for 14 from the field Wednesday but sank all 12 of his free-throw attempts to finish with a team-high 21 points in his team's 105-100 win over the Timberwolves.

"It really doesn't bother me now like it used to when I missed shots," DeRozan said after the game, per the Associated Press. "I used to get frustrated. Now I know I can do other things, trying to get steals, getting rebounds, moving the ball. That helps a lot."

DeRozan contributed seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in 39 minutes in the win, the Raptors' third in the team's last four games. They'll look to stay strong Friday against the Bulls in Chicago.


Raptors' DeMar DeRozan nears double-double in loss Sunday

(3/8/2015) Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points on 11 of 22 shooting from the field in Toronto's 108-104 loss to the Thunder Sunday.

DeRozan also dished out nine assists and grabbed four rebounds in the contest. It was DeRozan's fourth straight game of 20-plus points and has shot over 50 percent in each of those games.

DeRozan hit 14 of 26 shots from the field, including eight-of-13 after the half, when he scored 18 points.

(3/2/2015) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan scored 35 points in his team's 114-103 win over the 76ers on Monday night. 

This is a season-high for DeRozan and is the second time this year that he's scored 30 or more points. It's also the 20th time he's scored 20 or more points during the 2014-15 season. 

DeRozan also brought down nine rebounds — all on the defensive side — and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line. 

Guard Lou Williams contributed 21 and forward Patrick Patterson scored 15 in the win for the Raptors.

(2/28/2015) DeMar DeRozan scored 14 points in a night when not much went well for the Raptors. 

The Warriors blew out the Raptors in Toronto, 113-89

DeRozan missed all seven of his shots in the first quarter, when the Raptors made just one of 19 shots and fell behind by 16. 

"They got hot and ran off with it," DeRozan said.

DeRozan hit just four of his 16 shots on the night. 

The Raptors next play Saturday night at the Knicks.


Raptors' Lowry, DeRozan on their recent struggles: We're 'both trash'

(2/27/2015) Raptors guards Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan owned up to their recent struggles, describing both of their games as of last as "trash," per NBA.com.

"Me? I'm trash," Lowry said following Thursday's practice. "I'm trying to figure it out right now, to be honest with you. I don't know (how to fix it), that's why I'm in here, working hard and trying to figure out what to do to get myself back on track."

The 28-year-old Lowry, who earned his first trip to the All-Star game in his nine-year career, started the season shooting 42.8 percent from the field, and 33.5 percent from downtown through his first 45 games. In his last 12 games, he's knocked down only 36.3 percent of his field foals, and 26.2 percent from downtown.

"Right next to the trash can (that Lowry's) is. Both trash," DeRozan said.

DeRozan, who missed 21 straight games due to groin injury earlier this season, is shooting 39.4 percent from the field this season. He is a career 44.2 percent shooter.

DeRozan's 21 field-goal attempts marked his highest total since Nov. 19, and he wasn't able to find success with the high volume, making a third of his shots or fewer for the fourth time in his last six games. The guard also racked up four rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes.

The Raptors bring a three-game losing streak into Friday's matchup with the Warriors.

DeRozan scored a team-high 24 points with nine rebounds and eight assists, as the Raptors erased a 20-point first-quarter deficit to win by 16. 

Despite coming one board and two assists shy of the triple-double, DeRozan led the team in all three categories for the first time in his caeer. 

DeRozan earned half of his points at the line, shooting 12-of-13 on free throws. He shot just 6-of-16 from the field. 

The Raptors next host the Spurs on Sunday.

(2/5/2015) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for making "excessive" contact with Nets' Bojan Bogdanovic during Wednesday's 109-93 loss to the Nets. DeRozan was ejected after he committed a flagarant-2 foul late in the fourth quarter.

"They got to rumbling like they were the No. 1 team in the East," DeRozan said after the game, per Sportsnet.ca. "I just wasn't going to let them get anything easy."

DeRozan is averaging 18.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 40.0 percent from the field, including 21.1 percent from downtown through 29 games.

DeRozan was ejected after he committed a flagarant-2 foul late in the fourth quarter. The Raptors lost 109-93 to the Nets and DeRozan finished with 13 points on 5 of 13 shooting to go along with five rebounds and six assists.

(2/1/2015) Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan is letting the game come to him lately, according to the Toronto Sun.

Since his return from a groin injury, DeRozan has been easing into each game. That's allowed him to see how teams are treating him, and adapt accordingly. This has led to some games where DeRozan racks up assists and rebounds instead of points. In the eyes of his teammates, that's not a bad thing. "That’s what a great player does," said Kyle Lowry. "That’s what an all-star caliber player does. He finds way to help his team win a game."

DeRozan said that he's trying to contribute in multiple areas just in case he doesn't have his shot on a particular night. "Just trying to still impact the game as much as I can, because there are going to be nights like that," DeRozan said. "My role is to just be able to do everything."

DeRozan is averaging 18.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

(1/31/2015) Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan scored 15 points on 5 of 16 shooting while hauling in 10 rebounds in his team's 120-116 overtime win over the Wizards Saturday.

The Raptors picked up a second straight overtime win and a sixth consecutive win in all despite DeRozan delivering his worst shooting performance in his last five games. In addition to posting his second double-double of the season, the shooting guard tallied seven assists and one block in 43 minutes. The Raptors will square off with the Bucks Monday.

(1/27/2015) Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan is starting to turn the corner. After missing nearly a month and a half with a groin injury, DeRozan has scored over 20 points in five of his eight games, including Tuesday against the Pacers.

DeRozan went for 24 points on 7 of 15 shooting, including 10 of 13 from the free throw line, in Toronto's 104-91 win.

"I'm getting more comfortable every single day," DeRozan said. "Just getting back to used to playing the game I'm accustomed to playing."
