(4/16/2014) James Harden and Chandler Parsons will get some rest Wednesday night when the Rockets play at New Orleans to cap off the season, the team website reports.

Parsons has logged 40-plus minutes in his last two outings, but missed a game inbetween against the Pelicans. Harden has logged 40-plus in two of his last three.

(4/5/2014) Rockets guard James Harden went off again on Friday, reaching the charity stripe 20 times and scoring a team-high 39 points in a 111-107 win over his former team, the Thunder.

Harden shot 9 of 22 from the floor, including 4 of 8 from downtown, and 17 of 20 from the free throw line. Two of his four treys came in the second quarter. He also contributed with nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals while logging 43 minutes of game action. He is averaging 29.8 points, 6.8 assists and 6.6 rebounds over his last five games.

76ers can't slow James Harden

(3/28/2014) Rockets guard James Harden took advantage of the porous 76ers defense Thursday, as he dropped his second career triple-double in an easy win.

Harden needed just 31 minutes to record the triple-double, as he finished with 26 points on 9 of 17 shooting. He added 10 rebounds and 10 assists, though he also turned the ball over five times in the 120-98 win.

Harden has continued his strong play in the second half of the season, and is now averaging 27.5 points, 6.8 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game since the All-Star break. 


James Harden carves up the Cavaliers

(3/23/2014) Rockets guard James Harden put together arguably his finest performance of the season Saturday, in a 118-111 win over the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers' backcourt defense had no answers for Harden all game long, as he scored 37 points on 9 of 15 shooting. He connected on 5 of 8 3pointers, but did much of his damage at the free-throw line, where he went 14 for 14. Harden didn't just provide scoring, as he added four steals, three rebounds and 11 assists, while turning the ball over just once in 29 minutes.

Harden has put together yet another strong season, and has arguably improved over his first season in Houston. He is averaging slightly fewer points per game (down to 24.8), but has improved his shooting to 45.9 percent from the field, while connecting on 36.5 percent from three-point range.

(3/21/2014) Rockets guard James Harden caught fire from behind the arc on Thursday, draining six treys and also stuffing the stat sheet in a 129-106 victory over the Timberwolves.

Harden scored 28 points on 9 of 16 from the floor, including 6 of 10 from behind the arc, and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with eight assists, five rebounds and one steal while logging 36 minutes of game action.

Harden has scored 28-plus points in three of his last five games. He is averaging 21.8 points, 5.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds over his last five games.

(3/9/2014) Rockets guard James Harden went off on Sunday, knocking down a career-high seven triples, including a game-tying shot that sent the game to overtime against the Trail Blazers.

Harden scored a game-high 41 points on 12 of 28 from the floor, including 7 of 12 from downtown, and 10 of 11 from the free throw line. He recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds, also adding six assists, six steals and one block while logging 47 minutes of game action in a 118-113 overtime win.

Harden has eight double-doubles this season. He is averaging 28.2 points, 7.8 assists and 5.2 rebounds over his last five games.

(3/8/2014) Rockets guard James Harden knocked down four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 28 points in a 112-86 win over the Pacers on Friday.

Harden shot 10 of 17 from the floor, including 4 of 7 from 3-point land, and 4 of 6 from the free throw line. He did all of his damage in 31 minutes of game action, also adding four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Harden has scored 20-plus points in four straight games. He is averaging 23.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists over his last five games.

James Harden nears career high in blowout

(2/26/2014) Rockets guard James Harden played just 31 minutes in a blowout win Tuesday, but still nearly matched his career-high in scoring against the Kings.

Harden was exceptionally efficient, even more so than usual. He scored 43 points, just three shy of his career-high, while shooting 11 of 20 from the field. He made six 3-pointers and missed just one of 16 free-throw attempts, while adding two rebounds, three steals and eight assists. The lone blemish on his line were his five turnovers, however they did not prove important as the Rockets went on to win, 129-103.

Harden is putting together arguably his best month of the season in February, with just a few days left. In 11 games, he is averaging 28.7 points and 5.5 assists per game.

(2/21/2014) Rockets guard James Harden's hyperextended right elbow has improved greatly on Friday, and may not require an MRI exam, according to the Houston Chronicle. Harden suffered the injury in Thursday's overtime loss to the Warriors. He has averaged 24.3 points, 5.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds through 47 games. His status remains uncertain for Sunday against Phoenix.

James Harden plays through elbow injury

(2/21/2014) Rockets guard James Harden suffered an elbow injury in Thursday's overtime loss to the Warriors, but he was able to play through the end of the game with the injury. 

Harden was able to play 45 minutes in the game, and suffered the injury in the overtime period. He finished the game with 39 points, four rebounds and five assists despite the injury.

Afterwards, he had X-rays taken, and he told the Houston Chronicle he has been diagnosed with a hyperextension of the elbow. He will be re-evaluated Friday, and is also set to undergo an MRI on the elbow. The Rockets have a couple of days off before their next game, set for Sunday against the Suns.

Harden also managed six rebounds, six assists and one steal in 41 minutes as the Rockets posted their seventh straight win heading into the All-Star break. He has averaged 23.9 points, 5.3 assists and 4.7 rebounds over 45 games played.

Harden told reporters that his thumb is feeling better but it's still not back at 100 percent. The team will determine his status after his re-evaluation. Harden has averaged 23.7 points, 5.5 assists and 4.8 rebounds over 40 games played.

NBA reveals All-Star reserves

(1/30/2014) The NBA announced the reserves for this year's All-Star game Thursday on TNT.

Hawks forward Paul Millsap, Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan and Wizards guard John Wall are among the new faces in the Eastern Conference roster, each making their first career appearance. They'll be joined by Heat forward Chris Bosh (9th), Pacers center Roy Hibbert (2nd), Nets guard Joe Johnson (7th) and Bulls center Joakim Noah (2nd).

In the Western Conference, the only newcomer announced was second-year guard Damian Lillard from the Trail Blazers. He will be joined by his fellow Portland teammate LaMarcus Aldridge (3rd), Rockets guard James Harden (2nd), Rockets center Dwight Howard (8th), Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki (12th), Spurs guard Tony Parker (6th) and Clippers guard Chris Paul (7th).

Jeremy Lin is expected to step into the starting lineup, though Harden's absence could be a short one. According to the Houston Chronicle, Harden will be considered day to day moving forward, and is traveling with the team for Wednesday's game against the Mavericks. 


James Harden having trouble with Grizzlies

(1/25/2014) Rockets guard James Harden struggled through his second subpar game in a row Saturday against the Grizzlies, but he might have had an excuse this time around.

Harden was held to just 16 points, one night after putting up 10 against this same Grizzlies' team, but Saturday saw him limited to just 34 minutes while dealing with a thumb issue. He was able to play through it, but was kept out of the game for stretches in the second and third quarters. He finished the game with just four rebounds and three assists to go with his 16 points, as the Rockets fell, 99-81.

Harden is shooting just 40.8 percent from the field over the last five games, and his seen his scoring averaging dip to 18.8 points per game in that stretch. He is still sixth in the league in scoring at 23.9 per game for the season.

Harden has been shooting the ball well recently, a trend that continued Wednesday. He shot 7 of 14 from the field on his way to 26 points, as he added a 10-for-11 showing at the free-throw line. He also added seven assists, though he also turned the ball over four times in 41 minutes in a 103-100 win.

Harden has been playing some of his best ball of the season in the month of January, averaging 27.8 points per game, while shooting 49.0 percent from the field. 


James Harden stays hot with 38-point night vs. Lakers

(1/8/2014) Rockets guard James Harden kept his hot streak alive Wednesday, scoring a team-high 38 points on 14 of 23 shooting in his team's 113-99 win over the Lakers.

It was the third straight game in which Harden has posted 37 points or more, and it matches his season-high 38-point performance from Dec. 31. He was as successful from three-point range as he had been in previous games (just 2 of 7 from behind the arc), but he sank a season-high 14 shots en route to the huge evening.

Harden also kicked in a season-high five steals as well as four assists and four rebounds in 38 minutes of action. He has averaged 24.9 points, 5.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds over 30 games played.

(1/3/2014) One game after scoring a season-high 38 points Tuesday, Rockets guard James Harden followed up with a team-high 37 points on 10 of 19 shooting, including 5 of 10 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 102-100 win over the Knicks Friday.

This was Harden's best two-game scoring effort since racking up 82 points in the first two games of the 2012-2013 season, and he did it by going 10 of 21 from behind the arc and 22 of 23 from the chairty stripe. He added seven rebounds and six assists in Friday's win. Harden has averaged 24.4 points, 5.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds over 29 games played.

(12/31/2013) Rockets guard James Harden went off for a season-high 34 points on 12 of 26 shooting, including 5 of 11 from downtown, and 9 of 10 from the charity stripe but it wasn't enough as his team fell to the Kings, 110-106 on Tuesday night.

Harden did all of his damage in 39 minutes of game action, also adding 10 rebounds, one assist and two steals. He has doubled up for the third time this season. He has averaged 24.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists over his last five games played.


James Harden lives at free-throw line in win

Harden shot just 2 of 9 from the field with one 3-pointer, but was seemingly at the free-throw line every other possession. He attempted 25 free throws and made 22 of them, both of which are career-highs, to finish with 27 points. He added six rebounds, five assists and a block, while turning the ball over just once in 44 minutes in a 100-92 win.

Harden is now averaging 24.1 points per game, and getting to the free-throw line 9.1 times per game on average.

Harden missed the team's two previous games while battling ankle problems but came back to shine against Houston's in-state rivals. He added six rebounds, six assists and two blocks in 42 minutes of action. Harden has averaged 24.0 points, 5.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds in 24 games played.
