Jrue Holiday undergoes season-ending surgery

(2/28/2014) Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday underwent season-ending surgery to repair the stress fracture in his right tibia on Friday, the team announced.

Holiday was sidelined since Jan. 8 with the injury, and was unable to return to practice. He played just 34 games for the Pelicans this season, averaging 14.3 points, 7.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 33.6 minutes.

Head coach Monty Williams said Monday that Holiday is no closer to returning to the lineup, and he remains out indefinitely. He has averaged 14.3 points and 7.9 assists in 34 games played.

(2/19/2014) Despite a report earlier in the week indicating that he might be nearing a return to action, Pelicans coach Monty Williams told reporters there is no update on guard Jrue Holiday's recovery from a stress fracture in his right tibia. Williams said Holiday is still out indefinitely as a result of the injury, and there is no change in his timeline at this point.

Holiday has not played since early January as a result of the injury. He was averaging 14.3 points and 7.9 assists in 34 games earlier in the season.

(1/10/2014) A source close to Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday told Comcast SportsNet Northwest that they're optimistic he'll return from a stress fracture in his right tibia in approximately a month.

Holiday was diagnosed with the injury on Friday and was ruled out indefinitely with the injury. In 34 games, Holiday has averaged 14.3 points, 7.9 assists and 4.2 rebounds on 44.7 percent shooting from the field and 39.0 percent from beyond the arc this season.

(12/22/2013) Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday had a hard time finding his shot but still managed to score in double figures during Saturday's loss to Portland.

Holiday went 6 of 14 shooting from the field, including 0 of 1 from beyond the arc, and 1 of 1 from the free throw line. He finished the game with 13 points, seven assists, three rebounds and one steal while logging 36 minutes of game action in a 110-107 defeat.

Holiday has only hit one of his last nine attempts from downtown over his last four games. He is averaging 13.8 points, 8.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds over his last five games.

(12/11/2013) Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday has played with a chipped bone in his elbow, head coach Monty Williams revealed before Wednesday's game, according to the Times Picayune.

Despite the injury, Holiday is shooting 44.5 percent from the field while averaging 15.2 points and 7.9 assists in 19 games this season.

(11/30/2013) Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday enacted some revenge on the team that traded him Friday, recording a big double-double in a 121-105 win over the 76ers.

Holiday scored 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting, and matched a season-high with 13 assists and just one turnover. He also approached a triple-double with seven rebounds, and added one block and three steals to fill the box score in his 41 minutes of action.

Holiday had an adjustment period in his first few weeks with the Pelicans, but he has found his footing recently. Holiday has scored in double figures in seven straight games, while shooting 51.6 percent from the field and averaging 15.9 points and 8.6 assists per game. 


Jrue Holiday doubles up in win over Cavs

(11/23/2013) Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday enjoyed another solid performance as he notched his third double-double of the season Friday night against the Cavaliers.

Holiday went 5 of 10 shooting from the field, including 1 of 1 from downtown, and 4 of 5 from three free throw line. His lone 3-pointer came from the top of the key late in the final quarter. He finished the game with 15 points, 11 assists and three rebounds in a 104-100 victory. He also chipped in with three steals and one block while logging 38 minutes of game action.

Holiday is averaging 13.8 points 7.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds over his last five games played.

Jrue Holiday delivers double-double vs. 76ers

(11/16/2013) Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday turned in a double-double against his former team Saturday, scoring 14 points on 6 of 9 shooting and adding 12 assists in his team's 135-98 win over the 76ers.

Holiday also had six rebounds in 29 minutes during the blowout victory. The double-double was his second of the season.

Holiday's 16 points were his most in his last five games, and he added seven assists and two rebounds to his line while turning the ball over five times. He should continue to post double-digit scoring lines as long as he's throwing up 10-plus shots a game.

(10/30/2013) The backcourt of Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon was very good on Wednesday in a season-opening home loss to Indiana. Despite the loss, Gordon and Holiday shined together for the New Orleans Pelicans.

The point guard Holiday played 36 minutes and shot 8 of 18 from the field with two 3-pointers to score 24 points. He was 6 of 6 from the line as he grabbed seven rebounds and added five assists. He also had a steal.

Gordon, the shooting guard of the Pelicans, went 8 for 19 from the field with three 3-pointers to score a team-high 25 points. He was 6 of 9 from the line and added three rebounds, two steals and an assist. Together, Gordon and Holiday had just three turnovers. 


Jrue Holiday fouls out in preseason opener

(10/6/2013) Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday had an up-and-down debut with his new team in Saturday's preseason opener against the Rockets. 

Holiday turned the ball over eight times and fouled out with under nine minutes remaining in the game. He finished with 13 points, three assists and two rebounds on 5 of 10 shooting from the field.


76ers send Holiday to New Orleans

(6/27/2013) The 76ers began their rebuild in earnest Thursday, agreeing to a Draft Day trade with the Pelicans to send guard Jrue Holiday to New Orleans. The 76ers received No. 6 overall pick Nerlens Noel and a top-five protected pick for the 2014 draft in exchange for Holiday and the 42nd overall pick. Holiday is coming off his first All-Star game appearance in season in which he averaged 17.7 points and 8.0 assists per game.

(4/20/2013) 76ers guard Jrue Holiday told the Philadelphia Inquirer that he wants to work on improving his mid-range game over the summer. Holiday, who posted career highs in points (17.7), assists (8.0), rebounds (4.2) and minutes (37.5) this past season, shot just 43.1 percent from the field 36 percent from downtown. "You can always improve, especially midrange," he said. "I don't think my three-point shot was that consistent, not like I wanted it to be. I feel like just playing a lot more, even in pickup, I have to stop turning the ball over and getting a better feel and stuff like that. I need to get a better overall feel for the game."

Holiday hits a new low

(4/3/2013) 76ers guard Jrue Holiday suffered through the worst shooting game of his career Wednesday, in a loss to the Bobcats. Holiday attempted 24 shots in the game and made just two of them, the first time in his career he has attempted at least 20 shots and not made at least five. He finished the game with just five points in 37 minutes, his second lowest scoring total of the season. Holiday did add six rebounds, eight assists and three steals to his line, in an 88-83 loss.
