(1/21/2015) Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday will miss the next two-to-four weeks due to a stress reaction in his right lower leg, the team announced.

Holiday will be withheld from basketball activities until his symptoms improve. The guard is set to be re-evaluated each week. Holiday has averaged 15.2 points and 7.1 assists in 37 games.

Holiday has been dealing with an ankle injury which has kept him out of the last four games. In 37 games, Holiday is averaging 15.2 points and 7.1 assists.

(1/19/2015) The Pelicans announced forward Anthony Davis and guard Jrue Holiday have been ruled out of Monday’s game at New York.

It will be the third straight game Davis has missed while dealing with a sprained toe. Forward Ryan Anderson has been starting in Davis' place. Holiday has been bothered by a ankle injury which will keep him out of his fourth straight game. Guard Tyreke Evans will start at point guard in place of Holiday. 

The Pelicans are 7 1/2-point favorites.

(1/18/2015) Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis and point guard Jrue Holiday will miss Sunday's game against the Raptors, the team announced.

Davis (toe) and Holiday (ankle) both missed Friday's game because of the same injuries. Ryan Anderson will likely start for Davis and Tyreke Evans for Holiday.

The Pelicans are currently 8 1/2-point underdogs against the Raptors.

Holiday is averaging 15.2 points and 7.1 assists per game. Tyreke Evans is likely to start in his place.

(1/14/2015) After sustaining an ankle injury during Monday’s loss over the Celtics, Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday is considered day to day, reports NBA.com.

Holiday has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game at Detroit, but there is no timetable on his return. His next chance to play will be Friday at Philadelphia.

"We think it's day to day, but we're not going to put a timetable on Jrue," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said.

Guard Tyreke Evans is expected to start in Holiday's place and Eric Gordon and Jimmer Fredette could be in line for some playing time at point guard.

The Pelicans are 4 1/2-point underdogs to the Pistons.

Holiday will miss his first game Wednesday since getting hurt Monday against the Celtics. Holiday is averaging 12.6 points and 6.0 assists per game through five January appearances. He averaged 15.7 points and 8.2 assists per game in 17 December appearances.

The Pistons are 3-point favorites for Wednesday's game against the Pelicans.

Holiday's 75 percent success rate from the field was his most efficient performance since hitting nine of his 10 shots in a mid-November win over the Timberwolves. He also racked up seven assists, three rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes in the loss. His next matchup comes against the Suns Tuesday.

Holiday made it to 30 points for the second time in his last three games Sunday, and nearly managed a double-double like he had in his other 30-point effort, recording nine assists in addition to a season-high five steals, three rebounds and one block in 45 minutes. He'll square off with the Jazz Tuesday.

Holiday had topped 20 points just once in his previous six games before exploding offensively Wednesday, hitting a season-high five three-pointers after entering the game with just four makes on 14 attempts this month. He also managed three steals and one rebound in 35 minutes. Holiday will take on the Cavaliers Friday.

Holiday's 22-point performance represented his highest scoring total since Nov. 14, and the four made three-pointers were a new season high. He also racked up eight assists, four rebounds and one block in 35 minutes Sunday. The Pelicans move forward to face the Knicks Tuesday.

(11/29/2014) Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday scored 17 points on 7 of 18 from the field in Saturday's 83-80 loss to the Wizards. 

Holiday said after the game that "We just need to make shots. We've been playing some good defense the last two games. We've got to knock some shots down," according to Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com. 

New Orleans shot 37 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from 3-point range. They are shooting 45.4 percent from the field so far this season.

Evans averages 18.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists. Holiday chips in 14.0 points, 5.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game.

(10/28/2014) Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday is getting stitches above his right eye after a collision in Tuesday's regular-season opener, but he's probable to return to the game, Pelicans.com reports.

Holiday collided with Magic rookie point guard Elfrid Payton and headed to the locker room to assess the damage. He scored six points on 3 of 9 shooting and tallied three assists, two rebounds, one stael and one block in 23 minutes before exiting.

Though, it comes as little surprise since Evans started the final two preseason games at small forward, according to the team's official website.

The rest of the starting lineup will be Jrue Holiday at point guard, Eric Gordon at shooting guard, Anthony Davis at power forward and Omer Asik at center.

(10/28/2014) While Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday will play in Tuesday's season opener against the Magic, he admits he is not 100 percent going into the contest. It will be his first regular season game since undergoing surgery in January to fix a stress fracture in his leg.

"I’m maybe 80 percent," he said, per the team's official website. "I think I’m to the point where I can play and I can play hard, and I can give you some good minutes."


Eric Gordon, Jrue Holiday both get the start for Pelicans in preseason opener

(10/5/2014) Pelicans guards Eric Gordon and Jrue Holiday both got the start in Saturday's preseason opener against the Heat in Louisville.

Gordon made his first game appearance since having season-ending knee surgery last April. He was limited to 10 minutes of game action, scoring four points -- all on free throws -- while missing all four of his shot attempts, including two from downtown. He added two assists and one rebound.

Holliday, who had season-ending surgery to repair the stress fracture in his right tibia last January, also played 10 minutes but held scoreless on 0 of 2 shooting in his first game back. He chipped in with two rebounds in a 98-86 victory.


Pelicans being 'smart' with Jrue Holiday's practice time

(10/1/2014) The Pelicans are being cautious with point guard Jrue Holiday, limiting his practice time as he returns from surgery to repair a stress fracture in his tibia, The Times-Picayune reports.

"We are trying to be smart with his comeback," coach Monty Williams said. "After about two weeks of this, it's time to ramp it up and get going."

Holiday said he came out of Tuesday's and Wednesday's practices feeling good if a bit sore. "I'm sore," Holiday said. "Again I don't think I have pushed my body this much for a long time. It's good. All of our trainers and Monty had to kick me off the court yesterday because I didn't want to stop. But I am glad he did because I am feeling it today. Again that's a part of me still learning how to take care of my body and come back strong these next days."

Holiday didn't play a game after Jan. 8 last season and ultimately underwent surgery in February. He averaged 14.3 points, 7.9 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 34 games.

Holiday season-ending surgery to repair the stress fracture in his right tibia last January. He told the paper his leg is at about 70-to-75 percent.

"Coach and I have talked about how it is going to go," Holiday said. "It's going to go a lot slower than what it usually would be if I were healthy."

Holiday was sidelined since Jan. 8 with the injury, and was unable to return to practice. He played just 34 games for the Pelicans this season, averaging 14.3 points, 7.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 33.6 minutes.
