(1/21/2015) Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings scored 24 points on 10 of 21 shooting while racking up a career-high 21 assists in his team's 128-118 win over the Magic Wednesday.

Jennings was able to post the best assist total of his career thanks in large part to an efficient shooting performance from the rest of his team, highlighted by a combined 21-for-30 effort from big men Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe.

''Finding guys, guys are getting easy shots, guys are making shots,'' Jennings told the Associated Press after the game. ''It was one of those nights where you're like, `I'm close to 19 (assists), I better get 20.'''

Jennings' double-double was his third of the month and his fifth of the season.

''(Jennings) was phenomenal tonight,'' coach Stan Van Gundy said. ''He was getting to the lane and making plays. He was making his shots when he got them.''

The Pistons will square off with the Bucks Saturday.

Sell high on Brandon Jennings if you can

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/6/2015) Pistons guard Brandon Jennings has enjoyed a revival of his Fantasy value in recent weeks, thanks to an extremely strong run of play recently. However, as I point out at the Fantasy Basketball Today blog, he's unlikely to keep this kind of play up too much longer:

"Jennings has taken just four catch-and-shoot jumpers over the last five per NBA.com's player tracking stats, compared to 51 off the dribble jumpers, but is shooting nearly 60 percent on those pull-up jumpers. That might be Jennings' favorite type of shot, but that kind of shooting simply cannot be sustained; he is shooting just 34.4 percent on off-the-dribble jump shots for the season, including this recent hot streak.

If Jennings was spotting up and taking shots in the flow of the offense, we might be able to point to his recent play as reason for optimism. He's actually been a good spot-up shooter this season, posting a 61.7 percent effective field-goal percentage, which accounts for 3-pointers being worth more. However, watching Jennings dribble into off-balance three's in transition isn't exactly promising."

You're in a tough spot as a Jennings owner, especially if you stuck it out with him through the bad times. The problem is, "the bad times" are pretty much the baseline for Jennings. The sheer volume of scoring, shooting and passing you get from him can overcome his deficiencies, but this recent hot streak doesn't change what you should expect from him. If you can sell high on Jennings, now would be the time to do it.
