Ty Lawson a solid buy-low candidate

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/12/2014) Nuggets guard Ty Lawson is off to a horrendous start to the season, and his Fantasy owners might be in a panic. This is good news for anyone looking to trade for Lawson, as I wrote at the Fantasy Basketball Today blog Wednesday:

"Lawson's average shot distance is 9.2 feet from the rim, the shortest of his career, and an impressive mark for a guard. You would generally assume efficiency rises as a player nears the rim, but Lawson is shooting just 40.0 percent from the field overall. He has a good chance to regress to the mean moving forward, though I would like to see him shoot more 3-pointers, as that part of his game seems to have disappeared early on. Lawson's start has been ugly, but it's easy to see him bounce back quickly."

Lawson put up comparable per-game numbers to John Wall last season, on a Nuggets team that was sorely lacking in shot makers. The roster around him is in better shape, so Lawson should be able to bounce back at some point. If you can get him for cheap, do so now.

The ankle issue didn't appear to limit him at all, as he tallied eight assists, six rebounds and two steals in a team-high 38 minutes of action. The 1-5 Nuggets have another game against the Blazers on tap Wednesday.
