Ayres is averaging 3.0 points and 3.5 rebounds over 55 games this season.

(3/6/2014) Spurs forward Jeff Ayres will sit out Thursday's NBA Finals rematch against the Miami Heat because of a sprained finger, the San Antonio Express-News reports. Ayres is averaging 3.0 points and 3.5 rebounds over 55 games this season.

Spurs work role players into blowout

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2014) With the Spurs up big over the Cavaliers Tuesday, a trio of reserve big men took part in the action. Matt Bonner, Aron Baynes and Jeff Ayres all plated in the 122-101 win.

Bonner and Ayres saw the most extensive playing time, each logging 10 minutes to Baynes' six. Baynes and Bonner both scored two points, while Ayres was scoreless without attempting a field goal.

All three have been little more than role players for the deep Spurs, and that is unlikely to change with 22 games left on the schedule.

Spurs reserve bigs providing little support

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/29/2014) The Spurs went deeper into their rotation of big men than normal to counter Rockets' center Dwight Howard Tuesday, but the tactic did not prove fruitful in a 97-90 loss.

Both Jeff Ayres and Aron Baynes came off the bench to provide some added support when the starters got into foul trouble, but neither made any kind of impact. Baynes fouled out after just nine minutes of action, finishing scoreless with two rebounds. Ayres was also scoreless in eight minutes, adding two rebounds and two assists as well.

Ayres has appeared in 42 of the team's first 45 games, averaging 3.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while Baynes is averaging 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 28 appearances.

Jeff Ayres does little with starting chance

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/8/2014) Spurs forward Jeff Ayres started his fifth game of the season Tuesday, in a 110-108 win over the Grizzlies. He didn't make much of an impact in the box score, finishing with two points, three rebounds, one assist and one block in 22 minutes.

Ayres is averaging just 2.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 32 appearances this season.

Jeff Ayres to start Tuesday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1/7/2014) Spurs forward Jeff Ayres will start Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Ayres will get the first crack at filling the hole left by Tiago Splitter, who is out for the foreseeable future due to a shoulder injury. The Spurs will likely employ a rotation to cover Splitter's minutes moving forward.

Jeff Ayres plays season-high 14 minutes, doesn't score

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/10/2013) Spurs forward Jeff Ayres played a season-high 14 minutes Saturday but didn't score in his team's 120-89 win over the Knicks.

Ayres missed all three of his shot attempts but did manage to post four rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in the win. His minutes will continue to be limited as long as the Spurs regulars remain healthy.

Spurs add Pendergraph

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(7/12/2013) The Spurs have agreed to sign free agent forward Jeff Pendergraph to a two-year deal, according to Yahoo! Sports. Pendergraph, 26, spent his last season with the Pacers, averaging 3.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the field in 37 games.
