Timberwolves' Ricky Rubio to meet with doctors this week

(6/22/2015) Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio will meet with doctors on Thursday to determine the progress he's making in recovering from his ankle injury. 

Rubio dealt with injury all year long and appeared in just 22 games. 

Rubio traveled to Los Angeles on Monday and will work out early in the week before his doctor's appointment, per the Associated Press.

Rubio, who underwent ankle surgery, is doing upper body work as part of his current rehab process.

(4/13/2015) Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio underwent ankle surgery Monday and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Rubio had arthroscopic surgery to repair his left ankle that he injured in a game on Nov. 7.

Rubio's season officially ended March 19.

(4/11/2015) Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle early next week, the team has announced.

Rubio severely sprained his ankle in a game Nov. 7 and has been trying to play through it this season. He finally shut it down for the year March 19.

The surgery is considered to be minor and Rubio is expected to be ready for the Wolves' training camp next season.


Wolves G Ricky Rubio may opt out of Spanish Team to focus on health

(4/6/2015) Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio said his top priority this off season is to get healthy and has not decided yet if he'll play for the Spanish National Team, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune‎.

“Of course I have thoughts (on playing for the Spanish National Team). But right now I can’t think about it until the season is over," Rubio said. "Of course the priority this summer is my health. I haven’t been healthy and I owe this team a lot."

Rubio was shutdown for the remainder of the season on Saturday because of recurring left ankle pain.

(4/6/2015) Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio, who was shut down by the team for the remainder of the season on Saturday, said that he will not need offseason surgery on his ankle, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Rubio finished with 10.3 points and 8.8 assists in just 22 games this season, another injury-riddled campaign for the Spanish star. 

"I have time. I want to get ready. I want to be healthy. I want to improve," Rubio said in a brief meeting with reporters. "The main thing this summer is to get healthy."

Coach Flip Saunders confirmed that Rubio wouldn't play again this season, per the Star Tribune.

(4/2/2015) Although Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio is close to returning, the team's medical staff is not ready to clear him, reports TwinCities.com.

"All they're saying is he's not ready to play at the level that he needs to play at right now," coach Flip Saunders said.

Rubio has not played since March 18 because of an ankle injury and Saunders said he may not be the same player when he returns.

"He's not going to have the explosiveness he had, just because you never catch up that when you get hurt in this part of the season," Saunders said.
