by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(2/5/2015) Knicks coach Derek Fisher said he is hoping to have forward Amar'e Stoudemire (ankle) and center Cole Aldrich (shin) back in action Friday night against Brooklyn, per the team's official website.

Stoudemire has missed 16 of the last 21 games for the Knicks while nursing his injured ankle. The team is taking a cautious approach with Stoudemire moving forward, so he could sit out the back end of a back-to-back set on Saturday, if he does play Friday. Stoudemire is averaging 12.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this season.

Aldrich has missed the last two games for New York while dealing with the shin injury. He is averaging 5.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season.

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(12/20/2014) The Knicks will be without forward Amar'e Stoudemire and guard J.R. Smith for Saturday’s game against the Suns.

While Stoudemire will not play due to rest, Smith is dealing with a heel injury which will cause him to miss his sixth straight game.

Guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is expected to receive more playing time because of Smith’s absence. Hardaway Jr. scored 23 points in 40 minutes Thursday while Smith sat.

With Stoudemire resting, center Cole Aldrich is expected to take Stoudemire’s starting spot. In 16 games, Aldrich is averaging 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Cole Aldrich steps up in rare start

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/13/2014) Knicks center Cole Aldrich acquitted himself very well in his first career start Wednesday, in a 116-92 win over the Celtics.

Aldrich recorded just the third double-double of his career, and he did so in just 25 minutes of action. He scored 12 points on 4 of 5 shooting and snagged 10 rebounds, while blocking three shots as well.

Aldrich was only starting because Amar'e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler were both out. Neither is expected to remain sidelined long, however, so Aldrich should return to his reserve role before long. He has appeared in exactly half of the team's games this season.
