News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors has waited patiently for his opportunity to breakout, and it could finally come next season. Favors is set to enter his fourth season, and he should not longer have a pair of borderline All Stars blocking him in the starting lineup, with Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap set to be unrestricted free agents. The Jazz are expected to let one or both of those players walk, opening the door for Favors to step into the starting lineup. Favors is coming off his best season as a professional yet, averaging 9.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in just 23.2 minutes per game.
Analysis: Favors is averaging 14.0 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per 36 minutes in his career, which just gives you an idea of the type of production he is capable of if he can get into a full-time role. Favors is going to be one of the most popular breakout candidates in the league next season, though the same thing was probably true last season. If the Jazz do put him in the starting lineup, Fantasy owners should expect big things from him. He should be worth a mid-round pick on Draft Day, with tons of upside.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors came just one point shot of his second double-double in a row Wednesday, as he continues to see a decent amount of minutes off the bench. Favors snagged 13 rebounds and added nine points in 25 minutes against the Suns, while adding two blocks and two steals. The Jazz would go on to win the game, 103-88. Favors might see a boost in playing time in the next few games, as reserve center Enes Kanter was forced to leave the game with a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Favors has actually seen more playing time than Paul Millsap at times recently, though he is still very much in a timeshare. Favors is averaging 8.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game over the last five games, and remains more of a low-end Fantasy option in his current role down the stretch.
News: With Paul Millsaps return to the floor from a knee injury Wednesday against the Thunder, Jazz forward Derrick Favors was back on the bench. His return to that role did not stop his recent run of defensive dominance, as Millsap blocked five shots in just 25 minutes in the game. He added six points, three rebounds and two assists, in a 110-87 loss.
Analysis: Favors is averaging 6.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game over the last five, however he is also adding 3.8 blocks per game in that span. Favors has tremendous overall potential, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Unfortunately, the Jazz are healthy once again, which means he will likely be limited to around 25 minutes per game moving forward. Continue to consider Favors a low-end Fantasy starter, in his current role.
News: Jazz power forward Derrick Favors made his third straight start on Monday night against the Bucks and turned in another solid performance. With Al Jefferson (ankle) sidelined, Favors led Utah with 23 points and hauled in 15 rebounds -- with seven coming on the offensive glass. He also chipped in with an assist, a steal and a block in the 109-108 overtime loss. Favors went 11 for 20 from the floor and made 1 of 3 free throws while playing 30 minutes. He did not see the court in the final 17 minutes, however.
Analysis: Favors has doubled up twice in his three starts and is showing owners what he can do with an increased role. It was peculiar that he did not play down the stretch Monday but owners know that coach Tyronne Corbin can be inconsistent with his rotations at time. Keep an eye on Jefferson's health going forward to see if Favors will see more starts. If he does, the 21-year-old might be worth adding in more Fantasy formats. Favors should be considered as more of a low-end option as a reserve.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors received the start Wednesday night against the Hawks with Paul Millsap (ankle) out. He recorded his third double-double of the season by scoring 17 points and hauling in 15 rebounds -- including six on the offensive glass. He went 6 for 11 from the field, missing his lone attempt from downtown, and made 5 of 6 free throws. Favors also posted three blocks and three assists while playing 38 minutes in the 102-91 loss.
Analysis: Favors has proven in the past to be a double-double threat with playing time but gets blocked most nights by Millsap and Al Jefferson. He has made some solid progress in his third season out of Georgia Tech and hopefully will be able to get a chance to start next year. Keep an eye on his progress but given his current role, Favors remains more of a low-end Fantasy option at this point.
News: The trade deadline passed Thursday without the Jazz dealing either power forward Paul Millsap or center Al Jefferson, leaving intact a team that is seven games above .500 entering the stretch run toward the playoffs. Millsap and Jefferson have been considered trade bait because of their expiring contracts. The team has seven players with expiring contracts and only $25 million in salary commitments for next season. The 6-foot-8 Millsap was considered the most expendable, not because he wasn't producing but because third-year pro Derrick Favors is waiting in the wings. Millsap has started all 55 games for the Jazz this season, averaging 15 points and 7.4 rebounds. The 21-year-old Favors is averaging 9.4 points and 6.2 rebounds and is the team's top shot-blocker with 70.
Analysis: Favors will now remain a quality reserve Fantasy option since the Jazz decided to keep Millsap and Jefferson. He has shown flashes of his ability, but his potential might not be fulfilled until next season if Millsap and Jefferson leave Utah.
News: Jazz power forward Derrick Favors scored in double figures for the second time in the last three games on Tuesday against the Warriors. He finished with 14 points while playing 21 minutes off the bench in the 115-101 win. He went 4 for 7 from the field and made all six of his free throws. Favors also chipped in with four rebounds and two assists in the victory.
Analysis: Favors has made some solid strides in his third season out of Georgia Tech but his role in Utah continues to hinder his production. He averaged 9.3 points with 6.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks while seeing around 22 minutes before the All-Star break. There have been reports that the Jazz could move Al Jefferson before the trade deadline, which would likely allot the 21-year-old with more playing time. Keep an eye on the situation but Favors remains more of an option for deeper Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors played just 20 minutes off the bench Wednesday against the Timberwolves, as he continues to be stuck in a reserve role. Favors scored seven points on 3 of 6 shooting, while grabbing six rebounds and blocking a pair of shots. He might have earned more playing time, but he picked up five fouls in his 20 minutes. The Jazz would win the game, 97-93.
Analysis: As long as the Timberwolves hang on to Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson, Favors is going to be stuck on the bench, so the trade deadline looms large. If the Jazz make a long-rumored deal involving either Jefferson or Millsap, Favors would be placed immediately into the starting lineup and a larger role. Fantasy owners are still holding out hope that this occurs, as it would immediately boost Favors Fantasy value. Utahs trade deadline plans will be important to watch, but Favors remains a low-end Fantasy option for now.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors scored in double figures for the sixth time in the last nine games on Monday night against the Kings. He finished with 13 points and hauled in nine rebounds in the 98-91 win. He was an efficient 5 of 7 from the field and made 3 of 4 free throws while playing 24 minutes off the bench. Favors also posted an assist, a steal and a block in the victory.
Analysis: Favors continues to make progress in his third season out of Georgia Tech and has picked up his scoring of late. He is averaging 11 points with 7.87 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in the previous five contests on 53 percent shooting. The 21-year-old would be more productive with a larger role in Utah but remains a viable option in deeper Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors was fairly productive during Utah's blowout loss to the Rockets Monday night. Favors scored in double figures for the third straight game as he finished with 11 points in the 125-80 defeat on 4 of 9 shooting from the field. He made three of his six free-throw attempts and also added five rebounds, three blocks and two assists to his stat line, while logging 27 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Favors is on a bit of a scoring tear of late as he has scored in double figures in four of his last five games. He is averaging 12.6 points on 57 percent shooting from the field over that stretch and is also giving owners 5.7 rebounds and one block per game over that same span. While Favors will continue to come off the bench as long as Al Jefferson and Paul Milsap are still in Utah, the 21-year-old can be useful option in deeper formats -- especially category-based ones -- as he can be a low-end source for rebounds, blocks and points.
News: Jazz power forward Derrick Favors had another efficient night from the floor on Wednesday against the Wizards. He scored eight points on 4-of-8 shooting in the 92-88 win. Favors also chipped in with seven rebounds, a steal and an assist while playing 21 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Favors continues to see around 21 minutes off the bench for the Jazz in his third season out of Georgia Tech and has been shooting very well of late. He is averaging 8.2 points with 4.4 rebounds in the previous five contests on 56 percent shooting. The 21-year-old would be more productive with a larger role but as long as Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap are in Utah, that isn't likely to happen. That being the case, continue to view Favors as more of an option for deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors didn't miss a shot on Wednesday night in a win at Charlotte. Favors played 20 minutes in the game and went 5 for 5 to score 10 points. He added six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.
Analysis: Favors hasn't topped 10 points in a game in a while as he's seeing just over 20 minutes per night. He has been a cheap source of rebounds and blocks, but hasn't reached his full potential yet. He could be scary when he does, but for now remains more of a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors continued to play a small role Wednesday against the Timberwolves. Favors played just 16 minutes off the bench, in a 106-84 win. Favors scored eight points on 4 of 6 shooting, while grabbing six rebounds. He did make an impact on the defensive side of the floor, blocked three shots.
Analysis: Favors potential is clear, but as always, he is hurt by the presence of two All-Star caliber players ahead of him. Favors per-36-minute numbers could make him a Fantasy stud -- he averages 15.4 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks. The Jazz seem likely to trade one of the players ahead of him on the depth chart, which would make Favors a strong starting Fantasy option almost immediately. For now, he is worth stashing, based on his upside.
News: After scoring just four points his last time out, Jazz power forward Derrick Favors was able to get back on track against the Nets on Tuesday. He finished with 13 points in 25 minutes off the bench in the 92-90 win. He went 4 for 10 from the field and made 5 of 6 free throws. Favors also posted three blocks, two rebounds and two assists in the victory.
Analysis: Favors is averaging a career-high 9.1 points so far this season as he continues to see about 20 minutes off the bench in Utah. He has not been scoring as much of later but appears to be progressing after missing time due to plantar fasciitis. Continue to monitor his progress and Favors remains a viable option in deeper Fantasy formats. He is also worth a look as a handcuff option in case Al Jefferson or Paul Millsap go down with injuries.
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors returned to action Wednesday against the Spurs. Favors returned from sitting five games due to plantar fasciitis and has dealt with the injury for almost two weeks now. Favors' foot issue isn't completely gone, but he's playing through it for now. He saw 12 minutes against the Spurs in the win as he scored six points. Favors went 2 for 4 from the field and grabbed two rebounds with one assist and one steal.
Analysis: Favors is dealing with the dreaded plantar fasciitis and that never heals quickly. There is a chance he'll continue to deal with it for some time, even after he's able to initially return to action. When healthy, Favors is averaging 9.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game on the season while being held to just 22.8 minutes a night as a result of coach Tyrone Corbin's maddening rotation. It appears he's going to be eased back into action so owners must take that into consideration. He has value in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors continues to be a game-time decision for Wednesday against the Spurs, reports the Deseret News. Favors has a strained arch in his foot and has missed the previous five games for the Jazz.

News: After a previous report portrayed a positive outlook, Jazz forward Derrick Favors' status was bumped to a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against San Antonio, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. Favors has missed the past five games with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, but was cleared to play Sunday and prompting optimism he could return Wednesday for his first game during the month of December.
Analysis: When healthy, Favors is averaging 9.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game on the season while being held to just 22.8 minutes a night as a result of coach Tyrone Corbin's maddening rotation. The Jazz play three times during Fantasy Week 7 (Dec. 10-16), but with Favors still facing some uncertainty with his playing time, he is considered a risky option in the majority of formats for the duration of the scoring period.
News: After being medically cleared to return Sunday, Jazz forward Derrick Favors (foot) could be back on the court for Wednesday's game against San Antonio, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Favors, who has missed the past five game due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot, participated in pregame warmups Sunday, but opted not to play after some pain surfaced. "When I was out there, it kind of hurt a little bit so I decided to shut it down," he said.
Analysis: Favors has not played during the month of December as his particular injury has a knack for being a lingering issue. When healthy, he is averaging 9.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game on the season while being held to just 22.8 minutes a night as a result of coach Tyrone Corbin's maddening rotation. The Jazz play three times during Fantasy Week 7 (Dec. 10-16), but with Favors still facing some uncertainty with his playing time, he is considered a risky option in the majority of formats for the upcoming scoring period.
News: Jazz power forward Derrick Favors missed his fifth consecutive contest Sunday against the Lakers as he continued to deal with plantar fasciitis. Favors is averaging 9.3 points with 7.5 rebounds in 17 games this season.
Analysis: Favors' injury is clearly the worse case at the moment as plantar fasciitis tends to linger and keep players out longer than expected. Keep an eye on his status going forward but the 21-year-old is looking like a risky play for Week 7 (Dec. 10-16). When healthy, Favors should be considered a viable option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah big men Derrick Favors and Al Jefferson are game-time decisions for Sunday's game in Los Angeles against the Lakers, reports the Salt Lake Tribune Saturday. Favors (plantar fasciitis) and Jefferson (back) both practiced Saturday.
Analysis: Favors' injury is clearly the worse case at the moment as plantar fasciitis tends to linger and keep players out longer than expected. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status heading into his next game Sunday night at Los Angeles. If Favors is unable to go against the Lakers, he will be considered a injury-risk option heading into Fantasy Week 7 Dec. 10-16).
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors was held out of Friday's contest against the Raptors as he continues to deal with a plantar fasciitis injury. Favors has now missed four straight games with his injury, but remains listed as day to day.
Analysis: Favors says he is close to being able to get back on the court, but the team isn't going to rush him back this early in the year. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status heading into his next game Sunday night at Los Angeles. If Favors is unable to go against the Lakers, he will be considered a injury-risk option heading into Fantasy Week 7 Dec. 10-16).
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors missed Wednesday's game against Orlando due to his plantar fasciitis injury, reports the Deseret News. Favors missed his third straight game and is considered day to day at this point.
Analysis: Favors left last Friday's game against the Thunder and has not participated in practice since. Plantar fasciitis tends to linger and keeps basketball players out generally longer than expected. Favors appears to be falling into that category right now and should be considered an iffy play until he can return. Favors has been rotating with Paul Millsap at power forward for the Jazz and is averaging just 9.3 points per game. He has lower-end value in most Fantasy formats, when healthy.
News: Utah forward Derrick Favors is considered doubtful for Wednesday's game against Orlando as he continues to be bothered by plantar fasciitis in his right foot, the Deseret News reports. Favors has already missed two games with the issue and the Jazz currently considers him day to day. "It's a bigger hit on the defensive end than on the offensive. They're two guys that make their hay on the defensive end," coach Tyrone Corbin said about Favors and Marvin Williams (concussion-like symptoms) on Tuesday.
Analysis: Favors has not participated in practice since leaving last Friday's game against Oklahoma City. An MRI taken on his ailing foot Sunday was inconclusive, but an ultrasound done on Monday confirmed he has plantar fasciitis. Favors has been rotating with Paul Millsap at power forward for the Jazz and is averaging just 9.3 points per game. With his status uncertain, Fantasy owners should keep him reserved for Week 6 (Dec. 3-9).
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors could not play Monday against the Clippers after an MRI on his ailing foot was inconclusive, The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Favors, who has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, is scheduled to have more tests. He is day to day.
Analysis: Favors is currently listed as day to day, but it seemed highly unlikely he would take the court if more tests are on the horizon. The 21-year-old, who began experiencing pain in his ankle roughly two weeks ago, said he doesn't consider the injury to be a serious issue. Favors has been rotating with Paul Millsap at power forward for the Jazz and is averaging just 9.3 points per game. With his status uncertain, he should be left on the bench for Fantasy Week 6 (Dec. 3-9) despite Utah playing four games.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors will not play Saturday against the Rockets, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, due to a lingering foot injury. Favors was forced to leave Friday's game against the Thunder as a result of the injury, and he will undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury. He told reporters that he likely is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot, but will try to play through it Monday against the Clippers.
Analysis: We were hoping for a breakout from Favors this season, but he has been unable to stand out in a crowded front court. He is averaging a solid 9.3 points and 7.5 rebounds in just 22.8 minutes per game, but an injury will certainly not help him earn a bigger role. Fantasy owners should still consider him a solid low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports Jazz forward Derrick Favors has been dealing with a foot problem since Nov. 19 against Houston. Favors said he just couldn't continue playing Friday against Oklahoma City. Favors said it was too sore to keep playing. He is day to day.
Analysis: Favors had been dealing with knee and ankle ailments just a week ago as his right leg continues to act up. The 21-year-old was moved to the starting lineup but failed to thrive in that position. He is now coming off the bench again as of late. At this point, the Jazz will probably take a cautious approach with Favors, so we'll continue to monitor his status in the coming days. Consider him as a decent option in most Fantasy formats when healthy.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors, who has been plagued by a pair of injuries earlier this season, exited Friday night's game against the Thunder in the first half due to a strained right arch. He sustained the injury in the second quarter and failed to return to the game. He finished with just two rebounds and a block in nine minutes off the bench. According to the team's broadcast crew, Favors is doubtful for Saturday's game against the Rockets.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors was able to play through a pair of injuries in Friday night's contest against the Kings. Favors, who has been dealing with knee and ankle ailments, scored 16 points off the bench in the 104-102 win. He made seven of his 15 shot attempts and also added 14 rebounds and two blocks in 28 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Favors was moved into the starting lineup a few games ago but struggled in his new role. However, the 21-year-old turned in one of his strongest efforts of the season coming off the bench Friday, so the Jazz may move him back into his reserve role. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on how coach Tyrone Corbin decides to use him moving forward. Favors can be considered a decent option in most formats when healthy.
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors was unable to practice Wednesday due to a bruised right knee and ankle, reports the Deseret News. Favors is questionable to play Friday against the Kings.
Analysis: The young Utah power forward hasn't scored in double figures the last three games but is still averaging close to 10 points per game. He's having a decent year and can be active in most Fantasy formats, when healthy. We doubt he's going to miss much time.
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors came off the bench for some solid production in the triple-overtime win at Toronto Monday. Favors scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds with four blocks over 45 minutes. He shot 6 of 12 from the field and added two steals for the Jazz.
Analysis: Favors doesn't put up consistent production and can sometimes draw minimal minutes due to his inconsistencies. He is Utah's backup at power forward but his upside is vast. As long as he's bringing home nearly 10 points and eight boards per game with 2.3 blocks, Favors can be active in plenty of deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Jazz power forward Derrick Favors endured a rough shooting game off the bench during Saturday's contest against the Spurs. He could not get it going offensively and finished with six points in a 110-100 defeat. Favors shot 3 of 5 from the floor and chipped in with two rebounds and an assist in 23 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Outside of his 10-rebound performance, Favors has not been able to do much off the bench for the Jazz, given his playing time. He has scored just 16 points and hauled in 21 rebounds in his first three games as he is trying to improve from his 8.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game average from last season. Fantasy owners should continue to view him as a low-end option in deeper formats moving forward.
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors was dealing with a slight knee issue this preseason but has since gotten over that problem, reports the Deseret News. Favors played Saturday with six points, seven boards and a block over 18 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Favors has played in five preseason games and made two starts this preseason as he is attempting to win a job in the starting lineup for Utah. It appears that he will be behind Paul Millsap on the depth chart at least to start the season. The youngster still has plenty of learning to do after averaging 8.8 points and 6.5 boards for the Jazz last year over 65 games and nine starts. Favors should be considered a low-end Fantasy forward to begin the year with solid upside.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors impressed the coaching staff last season by emerging as the team's top defensive big man, and that emergence has him locked in a battle with Paul Millsap for a chance to be the team's starting power forward, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Favors, just 21 years old, took a step forward last season, averaging 8.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, and clearly has a long-term spot on the team, with Millsap entering the final year of his contract.
Analysis: Millsap is the better all-around player at this point, however Favors is clearly the teams best defensive option, which could end up giving him the edge next to the lead-footed Al Jefferson. Favors is a pretty limited offensive player, with more than twice as many turnovers as assist, while shooting just 31.1 percent on 353 field goals outside of the immediate basket area in his two-year career, but he could do enough else well in a starting role to be a Fantasy contributor. He clearly has plenty of upside heading into his third NBA season, and is worth a late-round selection as a sleeper Fantasy candidate on Draft Day.
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors was limited in his production on Wednesday night in a loss at Boston. Favors scored just six points on 3 of 9 shooting over 23 minutes. He grabbed seven rebounds and chipped in with an assist and steal in the performance.
Analysis: Favors has scored 10 points in his last two games combined since being in double figures over a nice stretch. Favors has his moments, but always seems to go back to mediocrity. His rebounding keeps him consistently viable in deeper Fantasy formats, but that is about it unless he's going well.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors turned in another monster performance during Saturday night's contest against the Warriors. Favors, who started in place of Al Jefferson, finished with 23 points and a career-high 17 rebounds in the 99-92 victory. He made seven of his 13 field-goal attempts and also added two assists, one steal and one block to his stat line, while logging 34 minutes of game action. "Most coaches will tell you need to just play your game and don't try to do anything you can't do. But when it got down to crunch time, I told myself, `I'm going to try and win this game," Favors said.
Analysis: Favors is showing what he can do with major minutes, but those aren't really available with Jefferson and Paul Millsap playing in front of him. On the season, he is averaging 8.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in just 19.6 minutes per game, while shooting just under 50 percent from the field. However, unless he sees a serious spike in minutes, owners should continue to view the 20-year-old as a solid low-end option with a ton of upside.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors established a new career high in rebounds on Thursday, grabbing 16 rebounds in just 23 minutes against the Timberwolves. Eight of Favors boards came on the offensive glass, which lead to nine field-goal attempts, however he made just two of them for four points, as he was not effective offensively. Still, he also blocked four shots, as he managed to make his presence felt even on an off night offensively.
Analysis: Favors continues to ooze potential, however a lack of consistent play and consistent opportunities makes limits his Fantasy value. On the season, he is averaging 8.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in just 19.6 minutes per game, showing he could be an effective contributor if given the chance. However, with the trade deadline passing on Thursday, the Jazz are set with their current roster, keeping Favors in his reserve role, barring injury. He is a solid low-end Fantasy option, however in his current role, he cant be considered much more.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors was once again not much of a factor during Monday night's contest against the Pistons. Favors finished with just six points in the 105-90 win, on 3 of 4 shooting from them field. However, he missed both of his free-throw attempts and also failed to grab a rebounds in 16 minutes of game action off the bench.
Analysis: After getting off to a great start this month, Favors has turned in a few stinkers his last couple games. However, the 20-year-old continues to earn rave reviews from his coach's and teammates, but is stuck playing behind Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson, which limits his production and minutes. While Favors looks like he has the tools to be a solid Fantasy contributor down the road, for now he is merely low-end option whose value lies in deeper formats.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors was able to get his scoring back into double figures during Saturday night's contest against the Mavericks. Favors finished with 14 points in the 102-96 loss, on 5 of 11 shooting from the field. He went 4 for 7 at the free-throw line and also added five rebounds and three steals to his stat line, while logging 18 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Favors was finally able to find his scoring touch on Saturday night, after failing to hit double digits in seven straight contests. While the 20-year-old continues to show flashes of his potential, he continues to play behind Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson, which limits his production and minutes. Leave Favors for deeper formats at this point in the season.
News: Utah power forward Derrick Favors started and played 29 minutes on Wednesday in a blowout win over Houston. Playing with Paul Millsap injured, Favors responded by shooting 3 of 5 from the field to score six points. He grabbed seven rebounds and added three assists and two steals in his performance.
Analysis: Favors recorded seven points and grabbed 11 boards on Tuesday in the first game after the All-Star break, also with Millsap out. Favors should continue to see plenty of minutes until Millsap returns and that will definitely help his immediate Fantasy value.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors had a hard time putting the ball in the basket on Sunday against the Rockets. He finished with just five points on 1 of 7 shooting in the 101-85 loss. He went 3 for 6 from the charity stripe while playing 14 minutes off the bench. Favors also chipped in with four rebounds, two blocks, a steal and an assist.
Analysis: Favors had been playing fairly well of late so owners should not let Sunday's performance sway their view of the second-year player. He is averaging 9.4 points with 3.6 rebounds and one block in his last five contests, and is shooting 48 percent over that span. While he would be more productive as a starter -- like he was earlier in the year -- the Jazz appear content with Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson starting in the frontcourt at this point. That being the case, leave Favors for deeper Fantasy formats.
News: With Paul Millsap struggling in a loss to the Hornets on Monday night, Utah PF Derrick Favors picked up some of the slack. Favors tied for the team lead in scoring with 14 points over 25 minutes off the bench. Favors went 6 of 11 from the field and grabbed five rebounds with a blocked shot in the performance.
Analysis: The 20-year-old Favors continues to display a world of talent shrouded by a plethora of instability. Averaging 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and little else per game over his last five, Favors should only be active in a small amount of Fantasy formats. He should be owned for his upside, though.
News: Utah PF Derrick Favors didn't have his best performance on Monday night in a loss to the Knicks. Favors was overpowered by Tyson Chandler and company as he managed just eight points in 19 minutes on 3 of 8 shooting. Favors added three rebounds and an assist in the performance.
Analysis: Favors has been erratic for the Jazz this season. He's averaging 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game for the year, but hasn't been rebounding well lately. Utah jumbles his minutes and Fantasy owners have not been able to count upon his production in most formats. For now, Favors remains limited to usage only in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah PF Derrick Favors got a start and played 42 minutes last Wednesday against Toronto. He scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in that game. Favors has just 15 points and eight boards in the two games since as he's seen just 16 minutes per night in those contests. His last game was Saturday against the Kings. He went 3 for 7 from the field over 15 minutes and scored eight points with five rebounds.
Analysis: Favors continues to show massive upside while consistently playing mediocre and limited basketball for the Jazz. Utah just doesn't seem comfortable playing him big minutes consistently. As long as Fantasy owners are OK with a consistent upside of around 8-10 points and 5-7 rebounds per game, possibly with a block, Favors can be used in the deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah forward Derrick Favors started in place of Al Jefferson on Wednesday night and he did not disappoint the Jazz. He recorded his third double-double of the year with 16 points and 12 rebounds. He shot 6 for 14 from the field and knocked down 4 of his 6 foul shots. Favors added a block, a steal and an assist in his 42 minutes of action. The Jazz would lose to the Raptors, 111-106.
Analysis: Favors hadn't been playing well recently and even got tossed from a game last week. He normally comes off the bench, but with Jefferson sidelined, Favors got an opportunity to start. He entered Wednesday averaging 7.1 points and 6.0 boards per outing, so it's obvious he's still learning how to get the job done in the NBA. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end forward option unless he can turn things around and perform more consistently.
News: Utah F Derrick Favors was ejected from Thursday's game against Dallas after throwing the ball near the stands to protest a call following a minor dispute with Mavericks F Dirk Nowitzki. Backup Jazz guard Earl Watson stood up for his teammate and tussled with Nowitzki on the sideline, drawing the first Jazz technical. Thirty seconds later, Favors drew a technical and ejection when he was called for another offensive foul and tossed the ball into the crowd. "I was pretty frustrated," said Favors, who had two points. "I let my emotions get to me."
Analysis: Favors returned to the lineup after sitting out Utah's previous game with an ankle injury. However, his impact was minimal once again as he logged just 10 minutes and finished with less than 10 points for the fourth consecutive game played. He is also struggling on the boards after a successful stretch to open the season. Favors has a high ceiling, but he is becoming a sour Fantasy play and is just a low-end option for now.
News: Jazz F Derrick Favors returned to the court on Thursday against the Mavericks after sitting out on Tuesday with an ankle injury. Favors played just 10 minutes in the game, scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds with an assist in the 94-91 Mavericks victory.
Analysis: It's good to see Favors avoided a major ankle injury and was able to suit up so quickly. His points and rebounding averages are up, but Favors is still far from being a double-double machine. He has a high ceiling, but Favors remains just a low-end Fantasy option at this time.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors will return to action Thursday against the Mavs after sitting out Tuesday with an ankle injury. Favors was injured Sunday against the Nuggets.
Analysis: It's good to see Favors avoided a major ankle injury and is ready to suit up again. His points and rebounding averages are up, but Favors is still far from being a double-double machine. He has a high ceiling, but Favors remains just a low-end Fantasy option at this time.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday and hopes to play Thursday against the Mavs. "I'm going to try to get a work in today and I'll see how it feels. Give it a go," Favors said.
Analysis: Favors sat out Tuesday after getting injured Sunday. It seems, however, this could be a minor injury as long as Favors doesn't suffer any setbacks. Favors' scoring is slightly up in 2011-12, but he still lacks game-to-game consistency. Favors has a lot of potential, but he is not a must-start Fantasy option by any stretch. He is a low-end Fantasy start at this time.
News: Utah PF Derrick Favors missed Tuesday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers, reports the Deseret News. Favors missed the second half on Sunday due to his sprained left ankle and was seen with a walking boot at shootaround early Tuesday. He could not make it back in time for the game. Favors is considered day to day for the Jazz.
Analysis: Favors was a risky start for Week 4 (Jan. 16-22) as he's been likely to miss at least one or more games due to his injury. With Utah only getting three games in the period, Favors was probably best left on benches. Averaging 8.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game over 21.5 minutes, Favors is a low-end Fantasy option and a solid one in deeper formats, when healthy.
News: Utah PF Derrick Favors is considered questionable to play against the Clippers on Tuesday night, reports the Deseret News. Favors missed the second half on Sunday due to his sprained left ankle and was seen with a walking boot at shootaround early Tuesday. That said, Favors said he hopes to play against the Clippers.
News: Utah PF Derrick Favors has been labeled as doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Clippers, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. Favors left Sunday night's contest against the Nuggets with a sprained left ankle.
Analysis: Favors is sounding like a risky proposition for Fantasy Week 4 (Jan. 16-22) at this point since he's unlikely to play on Tuesday. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward. With Utah playing three games in the current scoring period, Favors should be best left on benches. Consider him a viable low-end Fantasy option with upside, when healthy.
News: Jazz F Derrick Favors left Sunday night's contest against the Nuggets with a sprained left ankle. Favors appeared to sustain the injury sometime during the first half and finished with two points in seven minutes prior to leaving the contest.
Analysis: Favors will be re-evaluated back in Utah over the next few days, so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward. However, with the Jazz only scheduled to play three games this week, the 20-year-old might be better served left on the bench for the scoring period anyway. While Favors has continued to show promise of late, his inconsistent production continues to limit his value in most formats. Consider him a viable low-end Fantasy option, with upside when healthy.
News: Jazz F Derrick Favors posted his first double-digit scoring performance in four games his last time out and was able to do so again on Tuesday against the Cavaliers. He finished with 14 points and hauled in five rebounds in the 113-105 win. He was an efficient 5 of 6 from the floor and made 4 of 6 free throws while playing 22 minutes off the bench. Favors also chipped in with a blocked shot in the victory.
Analysis: Favors has picked up his production recently as he is averaging 9.6 points with six rebounds and 2.4 blocks in his last five games. He is also shooting 61 percent from the floor over that span while seeing 21 minutes per contest. The Jazz continue to give him solid minutes off the bench and the 20-year-old is already on pace for a career campaign. But since Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap eat up some of his production, continue to view Favors as more of a low-end Fantasy F at this point.
News: Utah PF Derrick Favors just can't find any semblance of consistency, though he has showed flashes of brilliance after six games to the NBA season. Favors scored just six points on Tuesday in a win over Milwaukee over 21 minutes on the court. That said, he also blocked five shots and grabbed seven rebounds in that game.
Analysis: Favors scored 20 points and ripped down 11 rebounds with a block on Dec. 30 against Philadelphia. He had trouble totaling 20 points and 11 rebounds in his next three games combined. Thus far after six games, Favors is averaging 8.7 points, 7.7 boards and 1.3 blocks per game. Useful numbers, yes, but Favors has shown the ability for so much more. He has high upside, but is still recommended only in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Utah F Derrick Favors tallied two points and 10 rebounds in the Jazz's 117-100 loss to Denver on Wednesday night. Favors was back in the starting lineup for the second game in a row and connected on just 1 of 4 attempts from the field. He managed 17 minutes -- the fewest among Utah's starters -- and also committed three turnovers. Favors has totaled just 10 points during the first two games of the season.
Analysis: The Jazz inserted Favors into the starting lineup over last year's standout F Paul Millsap and he has struggled to produce early in the season. In fact, Millsap has been better off the bench than Favors and has played more minutes (49-36) while scoring more points (31-10). Utah has high expectations for the second-year Favors, but his scoring production will certainly have to increase to keep him in the starting lineup. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the timeshare and consider Favors a mid-range option for now.
News: Jazz F Derrick Favors started the second and final preseason game of the year, as the Jazz won 92-89 over Portland. Favors, the No. 3 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, scored seven points and added six rebounds four offensive in 18 minutes of playing time. He also blocked a shot and had an assist. Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin acknowledged that Favors is ready for an increase on the 19.7 minutes per game he saw last year, but might not be quite ready for a full-time starting gig. Hes shown that hes explosive on both ends of the floor, Corbin told The Salt Lake Tribune. Whether hes ready for an entire season the pounding and the consistent banging of playing 30-plus minutes a night well see. Hes still a young guy and theres a lot of room to grow. He has a tremendous upside. Well play it by ear.
Analysis: Favors averaged 6.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and .9 blocks per game as a rookie in 19.7 minutes per game. His low minute totals were partially a result of the Nets and Jazz trying to slowly work him into the rotation, and partly a result of his inability to avoid fouls, as he averaged 5.8 personal fouls per 36 minutes played. That is to be expected as he learns how to adjust to the NBA game, but Favors should be ready for an increased role in 2011-12. He is currently the first option off the bench at both power forward and center, and should see his minutes go up in a shortened season. He doesnt hold much value in yearly Fantasy leagues, but hes one of the most valuable pieces in the game in keeper leagues. Consider him a late-round sleeper on Draft Day.
News: Utah PF Derrick Favors came off the bench Monday night in the preseason opener against Portland. However, only Gordon Hayward saw more minutes and Favors may have been the most dominant player on the court. Favors went 10 of 15 from the field and 5 of 8 from the line as he scored a game-high 25 points with 12 rebounds. He found the time to add two assists while committing just one personal foul.
Analysis: Favors moved from New Jersey to Utah mid-season last year as a rookie. The second-year player is likely to start the season off the bench, but will surely still play a big role for the Jazz. He showed flashes last year and this could be his breakout season as Utah doesn't have many big scoring options. Favors is immediately viewed as a low-end option, but could blossom into something much greater this season.
News: Jazz F Derrick Favors will have a chance to earn a starting role, according to head coach Tyrone Corbin, who told a Salt Lake Tribune reporter on Thurday. Favors is part of a crowded frontcourt rotation that will likely include Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, and the Jazzs 2011 first-round draft pick Enes Kanter. Favors, who was acquired in a trade with the New Jersey Nets last February, saw his production tick upwards when he got to Utah, and his development could go a long way towards helping the Jazz figure out which frontcourt pieces they will hang on to. Corbin also told the Tribune that he is planning on hiring a big-man coach by the start of training camp to help Favors' and Kanter's development in the coming season.
Analysis: Jefferson averaged 6.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and .9 blocks per game as a rookie in 19.7 minutes per game. His low minute totals were partially a result of the Nets and Jazz trying to slowly work him into the rotation, and partly a result of his inability to avoid fouls, as he averaged 5.8 personal fouls per 36 minutes played. That sort of roughness is to be expected from a young big man, but Favors remains absolutely loaded with talent. He is unlikely to emerge as the starter with the more experience Millsap and Jefferson on board, but Favors is going to force his way into consistent minutes at some point, and if the Jazz arent contending, it could be sooner than later. He doesnt hold much value in yearly Fantasy leagues, but hes one of the most valuable pieces in the game in keeper leagues. Consider him a late-round sleeper on Draft Day.
News: The Jazz said Wednesday that they exercised the options for forwards Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward for the 2012-13 season. Favors, a rookie, averaged 6.8 points and 5.3 rebounds in 78 games for the Jazz and the Nets.
Analysis: Favors has the chance to be part of the power rotation in Utah, but the position is crowded now with the addition of rookie Enes Kanter. The Jazz now have Kanter, Favors, Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson and Mehmet Okur to share playing time, so Favors could get lost in the shuffle. Still, keep an eye on his progress this offseason, and he could be worth a late-round pick in deeper leagues.
News: After being traded midway through the season in the Deron Williams deal, Utah forward Derrick Favors is looking forward to the offseason after his rookie season wrapped up. He plans on getting started right away on several tasks. "Just work out. Keep getting better," Favors told the Deseret News. "Just continue to work on my game, work on specific parts of my game and continue to improve. I'll probably be (in Utah) most of the time." Favors finished up the season averaging 6.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game with just under a block each time out.
Analysis: Favors had an up-and-down rookie season. In New Jersey, he was eased slowly into the lineup, and the team struggled throughout the year. Then he was traded to Utah, and came off of the bench most nights. Favors did find a way into the starting lineup 27 times, and he averaged 7.1 points and about six rebounds per game on those nights. The rookie was an 11th round pick on average in CBSSports.com standard formats and showed flashes as to why he was drafted so high, but he averaged less than 20 minutes per game throughout the year. The limited opportunity, which was affected by foul trouble plenty of times, didn't allow him to produce as much as owners thought he would. With a change of scenery on a roster that will be shifted around, Favors may be in line for a better -- and more stable -- campaign in year No. 2 as a pro. Consider him to be a low-end guy for next season, with some late-round appeal on Draft Day.
News: Utah forward Derrick Favors might have had his best game as a member of the Jazz Monday against the Wizards. He made an impact on both ends of the floor, though the effort didn't lead to a win. Favors scored 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the floor, and he split his pair of free-throw attempts on the night. He added 10 rebounds in the loss, securing his first double-double as a member of the Jazz. Favors added three blocks in 23 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Favors is showing more and more flashes of his superior inside potential as his rookie season progresses, and he's getting more minutes because of it. The 19-year-old may be in line for even more run with the recent behavior of starting center Al Jefferson. He was ejected in Sunday's game and reportedly was seen laughing in the locker room after. Jefferson was then left on the bench late Monday, in favor of Favors. Keep an eye on the situation, but no matter what happens with big Al, Favors is earning more playing time as the season draws to a close. There are also some rumors about the Jazz beginning a "youth movement" in an effort to rebuild the roster. That also bodes well fro Favors, who should remain active in all formats as a low-end option with solid upside.
News: Utah forward Derrick Favors tallied two points and three rebounds in a 121-117 overtime loss to New Orleans on Thursday night. Favors played off the bench after missing the team's last game against Oklahoma City on Wednesday with an ankle injury. The 19-year-old rookie played 17 minutes and connected on just 1 of his 5 shots from the field. Favors also added a block and a steal, but also committed two turnovers as the Jazz lost its fourth consecutive game.
Analysis: Favors suffered the ankle injury during the third quarter of Utah's loss to Memphis on Monday. X-rays taken came back negative, but he was held back Wednesday as the Jazz likely did not want to risk an injury to the young power forward. His two points extended his single-digit points streak to three games -- matching his longest stretch as a member of the Jazz since arriving in a trade from New Jersey. Fantasy owners should only consider him a low-end option in deeper formats.
News: Though he was active Wednesday and didn't play coming off of an ankle injury, the Salt Lake Tribune reports Jazz F Derrick Favors is active for Thursday's game against the Timberwolves.
Analysis: Favors was a "healthy" scratch Wednesday, and he has a similar chance of the same fate Thursday. Fantasy owners in daily formats should know that there is plenty of risk going with the big man with no certainty of his playing status. When healthy and playing, Favors is a low-end Fantasy option across the board for his solid defensive play.
News: As expected, Jazz F Derrick Favors was active for Wednesday's game against the Thunder, though he didn't check into the game coming off of an ankle injury. He suffered the injury in Monday's game against the Grizzlies and left the game in the third quarter. X-rays taken came back negative.
Analysis: The team seems like they do not want to take chances health-wise on the 19-year-old, so Thursday's game becomes the new target fro a return. Favors has played well since being traded from New Jersey just before the deadline. He's been with Utah for exactly one month, playing a bit better than his season average thus far. Fantasy owners should monitor the rookie's progress towards the end of the season to see if he can finish strong one he gets back on the floor. Favors defensive ability and length warrant him low-end Fantasy value in the majority of formats.
News: Despite saying he was going to play Wednesday, Derrick Favors (ankle) will dress but won't play against the Thunder. Both reports came from the Salt Lake Tribune .
Analysis: Favors twisted his ankle in Monday's game against the Grizzlies and left the game in the third quarter. X-rays taken came back negative, so it appears the team is taking the conservative route with the 19-year-old. Fantasy owners should stay on top of the situation to see if eh can actually play Thursday against the Hornets.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports forward Derrick Favors (ankle) says he will play Wednesday against the thunder. He admitted the ankle was still sore, but the 19-year-old will test his progress as he goes.
Analysis: Favors twisted his ankle in Monday's game against the Grizzlies and left the game in the third quarter. X-rays taken came back negative. Fantasy owners should consider the rookie to be a low-end option because of his defensive ability.
News: The Jazz report that forward Derrick Favors (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's game at Oklahoma City. He twisted his ankle in Monday's game against the Grizzlies and left the game in the third quarter. X-rays taken came back negative.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution in case Favors is out for the game with the Thunder. He also has minimal Fantasy value even when healthy. Favors has averaged just 18.4 minutes over his last five games.
News: The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Jazz F Derrick Favors (ankle) said after Monday's game that he will attempt to play in Wednesday's game at Oklahoma City. He twisted his ankle in Monday's game against the Grizzlies and left the game in the third quarter. X-rays taken came back negative. I just came down wrong on it, said Favors. Turned it and just got hurt.
Analysis: Favors has averaged just 18.4 minutes over his last five games. He is not in a position to produce significant numbers and is more of a long-term keeper option than anything else right now in Fantasy hoops leagues.
News: Utah F Derrick Favors left Monday's game against Memphis with an ankle injury. Favors sprained his left ankle in the third quarter against the Grizzlies and did not return to the contest. He finished with six points and one rebound in 13 minutes prior to leaving with his injury. X-rays taken after the game came back negative and he will be re-evaluated on Tuesday.
Analysis: Favors is the latest member of the Jazz to go down with an injury, although the severity of it is still unknown at this point. He originally sustained the injury against Houston but re-aggravated it against the Grizzlies. Fantasy owners is daily formats will now have to monitor the rookies status moving forward to see how long his sprained ankle will keep him sidelined for. Favors can be considered a low-end Fantasy option, whose value lies in deeper formats when healthy.
News: With Paul Millsap still sidelined, Jazz forward Derrick Favors started his second straight game Wednesday against the Timberwolves. He again held his own, scoring 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting. The rookie also pulled down five rebounds and assisted on a basket in the win. Favors blocked three shots, easily the most since donning a Jazz uniform.
Analysis: Favors was solid in his first start as well, posting 11 points and six rebounds. The Jazz have also claimed victory in both games, and Favors' playing time was apart of each. His three most productive games since the trade are the only three he's seen more than 20 minutes of playing time in. That's no coincidence. The problem is the 20-year-old's constant foul trouble and coach Tyrone Corbin's unfamiliarity with him thus far. Those should both be adjusted game by game, but Favors might be rounding into form. Fantasy owners should play him when he's in the starting lineup, but he remains a risk otherwise.
News: The Jazz announced on Wednesday afternoon that F Paul Millsap (knee) had been ruled out for Wednesday night's game against Minnesota. Derrick Favors will continue to start in his absence.
Analysis: Despite the chance to start, Favors has been mostly underwhelming from a Fantasy standpoint. He is averaging just 8.0 points and 5.8 rebounds over his last five games and is not being asked to play more than 25 minutes per contest. He should remain out of most active Fantasy lineups.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors was back on the court for Saturday's 109-102 win over the Kings after sitting out the previous game with the flu. Favors scored four points in the victory on 2 of 7 shooting from the field. He missed both of his free-throw attempts and also chipped in with four rebounds in 13 minutes off then bench.
Analysis: Favors hasn't been getting too much run since being traded to Utah, much to the dismay of Fantasy owners. He has only been seeing around 15 minutes a game since being dealt and is averaging 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds over his last five contests. While the talent is there, leave Favors for long-term keeper leagues and deeper formats until he starts producing with greater frequency.
News: Jazz forward Derrick Favors was back in the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Kings after sitting out the previous contest with the flu. Favors is averaging 6.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 59 games this season.
Analysis: Favors seems to be over his bout with the flu and will be back in the lineup against the Kings. Still, he has been a minor contributor to the Jazz cause since coming over in the trade from the Nets. While the talent is there, leave Favors for long-term keeper leagues and deeper formats until he starts producing with greater frequency.
News: The Jazz reports that rookie forward Derrick Favors practiced Friday after missing Thursday's game against Denver with a cold. He is considered a game-time decision for Saturday against Sacramento.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution when setting their lineup with Favors since the Jazz could give him time off to rest. When healthy, Favors has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues.
News: The Jazz announced Derrick Favors was unavailable for Thursday's game against the Nuggets. He was sent home from shootaround with a cold before the game-time decision was made. He was sick, coach Tyrone Corbin told NBA.com. Cant penalize him for that. He tried to go through shootaround and he didnt feel good at all. Some guys can get through it, but I think he needed to shut it down for a little bit.
Analysis: Favors has been a minor contributor to the Jazz cause since coming over in the trade from the Nets, who drafted him No. 3 overall. The rookie has untapped potential inside, but shows some flashes defensively in his first pro season. At just 19 years old, Fantasy owners don't really know what to expect from such a raw talent. Favors is better left for deep Fantasy formats and long-term keeper leagues.
News: The Jazz report Thursday that rookie forward Derrick Favors was sent home from shootaround with a cold. He will be a game-time decision for Thursday night's game against Denver.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should use caution when setting their lineup with Favors since the Jazz could give him time off to rest. When healthy, Favors has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues.
News: Utah PF Derrick Favors once again showed his athleticism and upside on Monday in a loss to Boston. Favors has played three games for the Jazz since coming over from New Jersey. He's played either 15 or 16 minutes in each game and has been pretty consistent. On Monday, he went 4 for 5 from the field and scored nine points with four rebounds and a block.
Analysis: Favors has shot 10 for 13 from the field for the Jazz in his first three games. That said, he's playing limited minutes. Until he sees more time and a more important role for the Jazz, Fantasy owners can only use him in the deepest of leagues. Still, you can see the glowing upside.
News: Even with a change of scenery and uniform, Utah rookie forward Derrick Favors continues to underachieve on the hardwood. In his debut with the Jazz in Friday's win over the Pacers, he scored six points on perfect 3 of 3 shooting. He wasn't much more productive on the glass, pulling down just three rebounds on the night. Favors was able to record his first block as a member of the Jazz while seeing 15 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Favors was just under his season averages in minutes and rebounds, and his points were right on par Friday night. Though it means he won't have a drop-off with his new mates on first impression, it means he will likely have a similar role in Utah. The rookie has been average on defense, but cannot put together much of an offensive game. We don't anticipate much of a change just because he was traded. Continue to view Favors as a marginal option fit for deeper Fantasy leagues and as a long-term keeper.
News: Utah forward Derrick Favors is expected to make his Jazz debut Friday night against Indiana. Favors, along with guard Devin Harris, were traded from New Jersey to Utah on Wednesday in exchange for Deron Williams. Favors, who is averaging 6.3 points and 5.3 rebounds during his rookie season, has not scored in double figures since Jan. 19 against -- coincidentally -- Utah (12).
Analysis: Favors' situation certainly didn't improve with his trade to Utah. He was continuously battling for playing time with Kris Humphries in New Jersey and he'll likely face the same scenario with the Jazz. He is slotted behind Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson in the lineup so his Fantasy value will be limited for the remainder of the season. Consider him an option only in deeper leagues with added value in long-term keeper formats.
News: The Nets have agreed to acquire All-Star point guard Deron Williams from the Jazz for Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, and two first-round picks in a three-team trade that also sends Troy Murphy to Golden State, sources confirmed to CBSSports.com. In a swift and astonishing comeback from their failed pursuit of Carmelo Anthony, New Jersey also will get Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright from Golden State, which will buy out Murphy, sources said. Murphy is considering signing with Boston, Miami or Orlando once his buyout is complete.
Analysis: Favors will likely lose Fantasy value in this deal since he will now play behind Paul Millsap and Al Jefferson -- and eventually a healthy Mehmet Okur -- for the Jazz. Still, Utah obviously has plans for Favors if they sent Williams to New Jersey to bring him in. Fantasy in owners in standard leagues shouldn't get too excited with this deal since Favors is still somewhat of a project. But in keeper and dynasty leagues Favors is still worth owning since the Jazz obviously believe he's part of their future.
News: Just hours after coach Avery Johnson questioned the star-power and endurance of Nets rookie PF Derrick Favors, he put in one of his better performances of the season in Saturday's loss to the Knicks. He had a tough night offensively, shooting just 3 of 10 from the floor -- missing two easy dunks -- on his way to nine points. Still, Favors was solid in the paint, pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds including seven on the offensive end. He added a steal and a block defensively in 26 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Favors has been inconsistent in his rookie campaign, but on occasion he plays like he did Saturday and shows strong flashes of what made him the No. 3 overall pick in last year's NBA Draft. His rebounding has been spotty and his points scarce, but the rookie either used coach Johnson's words as fuel to play harder or he really took advantage of the Knicks playing without All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire in the middle. Regardless of how, Favors played much better in the loss and we hope it's a sign of things to come. His track record would suggest otherwise, however. Utilize Favors as a low-end Fantasy option moving forward but don't expect his play to remain at Saturday's level.
News: Nets PF Derrick Favors doesn't seem to have the confidence of his coach, at least for the moment. Coach Avery Johnson said to the Bergen Record that he doesn't believe Favors will be a stud anytime soon, not even next year. "Hes not going to be able to play 38 minutes. Who knows when? You see him every night. Hes not ready," Johnson said. The coach did indicate he believed Favors could be a "32-minute player" next year.
Analysis: Favors hasn't topped five points in his last five games. He is averaging 6.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game over that span, however. He remains serviceable in deeper Fantasy leagues while getting around 20 minutes per game. Johnson could be looking to spark his youngster, but it is also possible that Favors isn't going to get too much better the rest of the way this year.
News: The Bergen County Record reports that Nets coach Avery Johnson said Wednesday that he plans to run more plays for rookie Derrick Favors. Favors has averaged just 5.8 shot attempts over his last five games.
Analysis: The Nets want to see what they have in their young first round pick. He has shown flashes of potential, but has found it hard to stay on the floor due to foul trouble. Take this commitment from coach Johnson as you will, but it makes Favors worth monitoring in the short term to see if it bears any fruits.
News: Nets F Derrick Favors had another decent performance on Saturday night against the Bucks. He scored eight points and hauled in three rebounds in the 91-81 loss. The rookie was an efficient 4 for 6 from the field but missed his lone attempt from the charity stripe while playing 24 minutes as a starter. Favors is shooting 50 percent from the floor over his last five games.
Analysis: Favors has not done a ton of scoring lately but he is averaging five rebounds with 1.2 blocks and 1.2 assists over his last five contests while he still gets into the flow of the NBA. He has had an up-and-down rookie campaign thus far but New Jersey keeps giving him the opportunity to see solid minutes. Favors will face the Nuggets, 76ers, Pistons and Pacers in Week 15 (Jan. 31-Feb. 6) so continue to view the 19-year-old as viable option in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Nets PF Derrick Favors continues to start and helped New Jersey defeat Cleveland on Monday night. Favors shot 3 of 5 from the field over 17 minutes and scored eight points while grabbing nine rebounds. Favors also blocked three shots and added two assists in the nice all-around performance.
Analysis: Favors has only scored in double figures once in his last five games and is averaging 6.8 per game over that span. However, he's also giving Fantasy owners 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. With more minutes, Favors will begin to earn more Fantasy notoriety. For now, however, he remains someone with high upside who should only be starting in the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: New Jersey forward Derrick Favors tallied 12 points and six rebounds in the Nets' 103-95 victory over Utah on Wednesday night. Favors sank his first four shots from the field and finished 5 for 6 in 30 minutes of playing time. Favors also matched a career high with three blocks as New Jersey halted a six-game losing streak.
Analysis: Favors may have been using Wednesday's game to make a statement after reports earlier in the day stated the Nets would no longer pursue a trade for Denver star forward Carmelo Anthony. The third overall pick in last June's NBA Draft was rumored to be one of the key pieces in a deal for Anthony before New Jersey withdrew from trade discussions. Favors has been battling for playing time with fellow forward Kris Humphries and played seven minutes Wednesday more while earning the start. He is extremely talented for being just 19 years old and could contribute if given time to develop. Consider him only in deep and keeper leagues for now.
News: New Jersey forward Derrick Favors was held scoreless for the second time this season in the Nets' 100-88 loss to the Lakers on Friday night. Favors missed all six of his shots from the field and two attempts at the free-throw line in 20 minutes of playing time. The rookie out of Georgia Tech didn't contribute much else and finished with five rebounds and an assist in New Jersey's fourth consecutive loss.
Analysis: Favors likely didn't help himself in his battle for playing time with fellow power forward Kris Humphries. Favors played fewer minutes than Humphries (28 to 20) and also tallied 10 fewer rebounds. Favors, who was selected with the third overall pick in last June's NBA Draft, has immense talent but has struggled and is now averaging 12.0 points in his last three games. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his progress as he could become a shaky option in weekly leagues.
News: New Jersey forward Derrick Favors notched 12 points and six rebounds in the Nets' 115-92 loss to Milwaukee on Saturday night. Favors, who also recorded the same stat line in his last game at Washington on Friday, scored double figures in back-to-back outings for just the third time this season. The rookie out of Georgia Tech connected on 6 of 10 shots -- his most field goals in a game this season -- in 27 minutes of playing time. Favors added a season-high three blocks as the Nets lost for the seventh time in their last games.
Analysis: Favors has been in a dogfight with fellow New Jersey forward Kris Humphries for playing time all season, and certainly helped his cause with another strong effort Saturday. Favors received the starting nod against the Bucks and finished with two more minutes than Humphries (27-25). Both are strong rebounders -- Favors is posting 5.1 boards a game -- but struggle to consistently score points. Until one clearly out-plays the other, the timeshare will likely continue for coach Avery Johnson's team. Favors is a good option to have on your bench in deeper and long-term Fantasy leagues.
News: Making the first start of his NBA career Wednesday against the Bulls, Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors was not able to play as much as he or coach Avery Johnson wanted to. He picked up two fouls within the first four minutes of the game, and he again found himself on the bench for usual starter, Kris Humphries -- who finished with a double-double. Favors would re-enter the game at several points, picking up more fouls along the way. He finished the night with seven points on 3 of 4 shooting, including a highlight reel alley-oop from guard Devin Harris. Favors also pulled down five rebounds and registered a blocked shot in just nine minutes of action.
Analysis: Favors played Wednesday's game at an energetic pace, but it cost him four unfortunate fouls that hindered his playing time along with the strong play from Humphries. Ironically enough, he averaged less than 20 minutes per game coming into Wednesday, but he only could not manage playing half of that amount in his first start. In fact, the nine minutes were his third-fewest amount played this season. The fouls continue to be a concern, so Fantasy owners should be patient with him and not expect a lot all at once. Favors has immediate upside as a rebounder, but his offensive game will need to develop as he goes.
News: Nets coach Avery Johnson announced Wednesday that rookie Derrick Favors will replace Kris Humphries as the team's starting power forward. "This is just the right time to get him in the lineup," said Johnson. "Yeah, I think Im ready now to take the responsibility that coach gave me," Favors agreed. "Im ready for it."
Analysis: Favors has not been doing much lately in game action, averaging just 6.0 points and 3.0 rebounds over his last five games. It seems that Johnson has decided, with the Nets going nowhere this season, that it is time to get his first-round pick out there to start to develop him. Expect Favors to be put in situations to succeed and get a fair shake as the starter. But with Humphries playing well, there is also the luxury of being able to bring him along slowly. Given Favors' potential upside, he's a nice add off the waiver wire in any league. However, Fantasy owners should be patient with him and not expect a lot all at once. Favors has immediate upside as a rebounder, but his offensive game will need to develop as he goes.
News: New Jersey forward Derrick Favors played just 12 minutes in Saturday's 103-88 loss to Minnesota. He made both of his shots from the field, finishing with four points. He dealt with foul trouble and couldn't stay on the court long enough to make an impact. Earlier in the week, coach Avery Johnson said he needed his rookie to show him more with his court time to earn a starting spot.
Analysis: With Troy Murphy clearly out of the rotation, Favors has to out perform Kris Humphries or Travis Outlaw for a starting spot. Over his last five games, Favors is averaging just 6.0 points and 3.0 boards per contest in 18 minutes a game. It won't be easy to earn a starting spot with those minutes or numbers, but Favors has to start somewhere. Until he shows Johnson what he's made of, Favors is worth holding onto and stashing in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports that New Jersey would love to be starting Derrick Favors at power forward. Still, coach Avery Johnson wants him to show more with his time on the floor before he gives him the nod. "We need to see more consistency. He needs to dunk on three people in a night," said Johnson.
Analysis: Currently, the Nets are using Kris Humphries at the power forward spot, despite having the highly touted rookie Favors and the popular Troy Murphy on the roster. Incredibly, Humphries is holding his own. Still, the team wants to move in Favors' direction but the rookie is only averaging 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and half a block over 18.9 minutes per contest. Until he shows Johnson what he's looking for, his value is only low-end in Fantasy play.
News: Nets forward Derrick Favors shot 5 for 9 from the field on Wednesday night against the Hornets, finishing with 10 points. He added four rebounds, an assist and a steal in his 23 minutes of court time. He battled foul trouble on Wednesday as well, as he had five on the day. The Nets would end up losing the game, 105-91.
Analysis: Favors has been getting 18 minutes a game and averaging 6.2 points and 4.2 rebounds over his last five games. New Jersey has won three of those five games, losing the two that Favors produced his best outings in. The rookie has potential, but can't be depended on just yet. He's a long-term keeper right now and could be worth using in deeper formats as the season progresses.
News: Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors has been playing more minutes recently. He played 17 minutes on Friday night against the Raptors, finishing with eight points. He shot 4 for 6 from the field and grabbed four rebounds. The Nets would lose the game, 98-92, despite the rookies' contribution.
Analysis: Favors is averaging 7.5 points and 6.8 rebounds over his last four games. Both are over his season totals, but owners can't depend on the rookie in Fantasy leagues just yet. He has potential and could get a lot more playing time, but it all depends if New Jersey makes a trade. Owners should keep tabs on the rookie and his situation heading into Week 9 (Dec. 20-26). Consider him more of a long-term keeper and forward option in extremely deep leagues at this time.
News: Nets rookie F Derrick Favors returned from a thigh contusion to play in Sunday's game against the Lakers. He played 13 minutes off the bench, scoring eight points with five rebounds in the 99-92 loss. Favors went 3 for 5 from the field and converted both of his free-throw attempts. He also chipped in with a steal and a blocked shot in the defeat.
Analysis: There had been previous reports that Favors would be re-inserted into the starting lineup once healthy but that did not happen on Sunday. He had a decent showing and will likely produce more as his minutes go up. He is averaging 6.5 points with 5.3 rebounds in his rookie campaign. His value will likely increase once he becomes a starter so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on him during the upcoming scoring period. He is worth owning in deeper leagues and all-rookie formats but don't have him starting in a majority of leagues for Week 8 (Dec. 13-19).
News: New Jersey rookie PF Derrick Favors may join the starting lineup as soon as he's ready to return from a bruised right thigh injury. That means that Kris Humphries will be bumped, reports the Newark Star-Ledger Saturday. The change could happen as early as Sunday against the Lakers.
Analysis: Favors has averaged 6.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and half a block per game over 19 minutes as a bench player. As soon as he becomes a starter, his Fantasy value could definitely rise. Owners need to realize that and consider adding him for deeper formats immediately.
News: New Jersey forward Derrick Favors was not active for Thursday's game against Dallas due to a thigh contusion. Nets coach Avery Johnson has recently said that Favors could be entering the starting lineup soon. Basically, [its] where we are in the season, Johnson told the Bergen County Record. Were 10 games under .500 and I dont want to wait too long. So whether its the 40th game or sometime next week, I dont want to lose the whole year and this type of experience with him sitting on the bench. It will probably come before the 41st game.
Analysis: The Nets' 41st game is Jan. 17 at Golden State, so there is still a month and change that Favors may not play much. The one-hit wonder that was Kris Humphries is seeing less minutes and the Nets drafted Favors to be the running mate with Brook Lopez. It's only a matter of time until Favors develops into a solid Fantasy option. That time is not now though and should be kept on the bench for now. Once he sees significant playing time, Favors could be a viable forward option.
News: Nets coach Avery Johnson, who recently hinted rookie PF Derrick Favors could enter the starting lineup soon, didn't do much to clarify his comments Thursday, telling the Bergen County Record little more than that the team's previous goal of having Favors start by the 41st game of the season no longer applies. Basically, [its] where we are in the season, Johnson said. Were 10 games under .500 and I dont want to wait too long. So whether its the 40th game or sometime next week, I dont want to lose the whole year and this type of experience with him sitting on the bench. It will probably come before the 41st game.
Analysis: Well, that tells us ... almost nothing. The Nets' 41st game is Jan. 17 at Golden State, so you can rest assured Favors will be starting by then. But based on the way Johnson has talked recently and the steady decline in starter Kris Humphries' minutes, you have to think Favors' transition to the starting lineup will happen much, much sooner than that. The 19-year-old has plenty of upside as a scorer, rebounder and shot blocker and mostly just needs to work on limiting his fouls. He's worth stashing in Fantasy for when the inevitable transition takes place.
News: The Bergen County Record reports that Nets coach Avery Johnson hinted Tuesday that rookie Derrick Favors could join the starting lineup soon. Johnson was discussing Troy Murphys minutes and said hes behind two power forwards Kris Humphries and Favors. "And one of those two guys is probably going to [be] starting here sometime soon," Johnson said.
Analysis: Well, Humphries is already starting. So our great deduction skills allow us to come to the conclusion that that guy would be Favors. The No. 3 overall pick in this summer's NBA draft, he has a very high ceiling. He is just 19 years old, however, and is a player we recommend allowing to prove productive on the floor before going crazy over in Fantasy. He is definitely worth taking a flier on off the waiver wire where available.
News: Nets PF Derrick Favors hasn't played with as much energy lately, coach Avery Johnson told the Bergen County Record on Friday, and got only eight minutes of playing time in a triple-overtime loss to the Thunder on Wednesday as a result. Favors called the lack of playing time Wednesday a wake-up call.
Analysis: Johnson said he'd talk to Favors, so maybe this situation will work itself out. Johnson has taken a hard stance with several players this season, but Favors figures to play a big role for the Nets when all is said and done. He was the team's first-round pick, after all. He mostly just needs to cut down on his fouls. You obviously wouldn't want to use him right now in Fantasy, but he's worth stashing on your bench because of his upside.
News: New Jersey forward Derrick Favors scored just two points in a season-low eight minutes as the Nets lost in triple-overtime against Oklahoma City on Wednesday. Favors missed both of his shots from the field -- the second time this season he has failed to make a basket from the field -- and finished 2 of 4 from the free-throw line. He added two rebounds and a block.
Analysis: What's worse for Favors' playing prospects is that this game went to triple overtime, providing an extra 15 minutes of time the rookie could have played. Still, the Nets elected to give Favors the second-fewest minutes on the team following Damion James (four). Favors now has just 25 points total in the six games since his season-high 14 points against the Nuggets on Nov. 20. His potential upside makes him worth stashing in deeper leagues but Fantasy owners elsewhere should leave him on the waiver wire.
News: New Jersey forward Derrick Favors scored in double figures for the first time since Nov. 6 on Saturday night against Denver. Favors shot 4 for 6 from the field and connected on 6 of his 7 foul shots, finishing with a season-high 14 points. He added eight rebounds and an assist in his 25 minutes of work.
Analysis: Favors had not been playing at a high level over the past week or so as he's been averaging 6.0 points and 5.6 boards per contest over the last seven games. The rookie out of Georgi Tech has shown glimpses of his potential this season, but then falls flat in the next game out. For now Fantasy owners should view Favors as a work-in-progress. He's worth stashing in deeper leagues, but isn't worth starting in any format at this time.
News: Nets F Derrick Favors had the worst game of his young career on Saturday night against the Magic. He was not able to score a single point while playing 13 minutes in the 91-90 loss. The rookie missed both of his shots from the floor and was only able to pick up two rebounds in his time in the court. It was the first time Favors was held scoreless.
Analysis: Favors has shown flashes of what made him the No. 3 overall pick in the 2010 draft but his inconsistencies have outweighed the good. He entered Saturday's game averaging 8.8 points with 7.2 rebounds on the year but he was unable to find his rhythm against a tough Orlando frontcourt. Favors is expected to be a cornerstone in the Nets rebuilding process but he should be benched in a majority of formats until he starts getting his numbers back up.
News: Nets rookie Derrick Favors was held under 10 points for the second time in his last three games on Tuesday against the Cavaliers. He logged a season-low 16 minutes off the bench and finished with six points to go with seven rebounds and a block.
Analysis: Favors, who got off to a very strong start, has seen his production and playing time become erratic since the return of veteran Troy Murphy from injury. The Nets have big long-term plans for their No. 3 overall draft selection, but in the short term it appears his production could be capped to around 10 points and seven boards on most nights.
News: Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors continues to produce, whether he starts or comes off the bench. Favors scored 11 points on a 5-for-7 shooting performance and grabbed a team-high eight boards off he bench on Wednesday. He logged more than 23 minutes for the Nets as they lost 85-83 to the Bobcats. Veteran Troy Murphy got the start for the Nets as he made his season debut. Coach Avery Johnson said that he will "take it slow" with Murphy.
Analysis: Favors could see less action with Murphy back for the Nets. At the same time he'll likely be one of the first players off the bench. While the rookie has had a nice start to his NBA career, he will have to earn playing time among the veterans. Consider him a solid Fantasy start while he's producing, but as Murphy gets healthier, he'll continue to chip away at Favors' numbers.
News: Nets rookie F Derrick Favors notched his first career double-double in Sunday's game against the Nets. He scored 13 points and added 13 rebounds in just 24 minutes off the bench. Favors averaged 10.3 points and 10.0 rebounds during the first week of the regular season over three games.
Analysis: Favors has done a lot despite averaging just 21.3 minutes per game. His playing time figures to be cut into whenever Troy Murphy is healthy enough to return, but that remains to be determined. Favors is a high-end player long term, but remains a risky play in Fantasy given his limited playing time and the possibility of a decline once Murphy is healthy.
News: Nets rookie Derrick Favors made an impressive debut in Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Pistons. He picked up a team-high 10 rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench, adding eight points off 3 of 5 shooting from the field.
Analysis: With Troy Murphy sidelined due to injury, the Nets started Joe Smith at power forward. It was Favors who saw a majority of the minutes at the four early on, though, and he got off to a very quick start in the fourth quarter. He tailed off later on, but the young raw talent showed signs of promise. He is a must-own in keeper leagues and is worth stashing in deeper seasonal leagues, but is not a recommended play yet.
News: New Jersey rookie PF Derrick Favors had a nice game over 19 minutes on Tuesday against the Knicks. Favors, a rookie out of Georgia Tech, shot 5 of 7 from the field and scored 12 points. He grabbed seven rebounds and picked up two steals as well. This was a nice rebound game for Favors, who failed to score in his previous two preseason contests.
Analysis: Favors shot 6 of 8 in his preseason debut to score 14 points over 21 minutes. In the five games after that one, Favors shot just 6 for 26 (23 percent) and scored a grand total of 16 points. The rebounding will be there, but Favors is going to battle with consistency issues all year. At this time, he is more of a low-end player for deeper leagues with big upside.
News: Nets rookie Derrick Favors has not performed well in his last two preseason games. Playing in China against Houston on Saturday, Favors managed just eight minutes on the floor and did not score for the second consecutive game. He went 0 for 1 from the field and grabbed one rebound. Three days earlier in China, Favors played 23 minutes, shot 0 for 5 from the field and also did not score with five rebounds.
Analysis: Favors played 26 minutes on Oct. 9 against the 76ers and scored nine points with 10 rebounds and two blocks. In the two games since, he's played a total of 31 minutes and has shot 0 for 6 from the field with no points and six boards. We're not sure what that is going to mean for his regular season. Favors has the potential to contribute this season but his latest use by the Nets should be considered worrisome. Stay tuned to his continued progress before making a final decision on his Fantasy value.
News: Nets rookie PF Derrick Favors, the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft, will feel even more pressure to develop quickly now that Troy Murphy is out indefinitely with a strained back, reports the New York Times. "I'm hoping if he could not struggle with fouls so much, we could get him in a rhythm and keep him out there longer," coach Avery Johnson said after Thursday's game against the Celtics.
Analysis: Favors has struggled with fouls in his first three preseason games, picking up 14 despite playing a total of 58 minutes. He did have 14 points and nine rebounds over 21 minutes in his preseason debut Sunday, but he hasn't done much since then. The presence of Murphy was supposed to allow the Nets to bring Favors along slowly, but with the New York Times already speculating about replacement possibilities, you have to wonder if this injury could affect the veteran's availability for the start of the regular season. Favors obviously has the potential to make a huge contribution in Fantasy, and this expected increase in playing time is yet another reason to like him as a sleeper this year.
News: Nets F Derrick Favors scored 14 points with nine rebounds in his first preseason game against Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Premier League. Favors, the No. 3 pick in the draft, energized the Nets with three fast-break dunks in the opening period. He scored 12 points in the first half. "He was good," Nets coach Avery Johnson said. "He was in the right spots on defense and he was decisive on offense. He ran the floor well and got out well in the break. For his first professional game, he did some good things."
Analysis: The 6-foot-10 Favors had to deal with trade talk as camp opened, before a four-team deal that would have sent him to Denver and landed All-Star Carmelo Anthony in New Jersey collapsed. "It feels good not having to worry about trade rumors and all that stuff," Favors said. If things stay the way they are, Favors should be in line for excellent playing time as a rookie on a team looking for capable scorers. He is a late-round sleeper in seasonal formats and a must-draft in all keeper leagues.
News: First-round draft picks Derrick Favors and Damion James have signed with the New Jersey Nets. Outgoing Nets president Rod Thorn announced the signings Thursday, his penultimate day on the job. Favors, the Georgia Tech forward and third pick overall, will earn a total of $8.57 million in his first two seasons. The team has options on his third and fourth years.
Analysis: The ACC rookie of the year averaged 12.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 36 games. A trade that sent Yi Jianlian to Washington should open up a chance for good playing time for him even as a rookie. We like him more as a long-term option than a viable starter this fall, but he's looking at significant playing time.
