Hornets looking to see how Pargo, Neal play before making move

(1/28/2015) With Hornets guard Kemba Walker out for an extended amount of time, Hornets coach Steve Clifford said they would like to see how guards Jannero Pargo and Gary Neal play in expanded roles before a making a move, reports the Charlotte Observer.

Pargo has been out since Dec. 22 with a back injury, but is expected back soon. Neal is expected to receive more minutes at the point guard spot.

(1/17/2015) Hornets guard Kemba Walker was unable to practice Friday and was officially ruled out for Saturday's contest against Indiana because of a knee injury, reports the Charlotte Observer. Brian Roberts will start at point guard, with shooting guards Gary Neal (hamstring) and Lance Stephenson as his backups.

Walker is averaging 19.2 points, 5.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 40.8 percent from the field, and 32.8 percent from 3-point range through 40 games.

Neal has been bothered by a sore hamstring, but it has not caused him to miss any games. In 27 games, Neal is averaging 11.0 points and 2.7 rebounds.

The Hornets are 1 1/2-point underdogs.

(12/19/2014) The Hornets announced guard Lance Stephenson did not travel with the team to Philadelphia and will not play Friday at Philadelphia and Saturday against the Jazz.

Stephenson is dealing with a pelvis sprain. His next opportunity to play will be Monday against the Nuggets. In 25 games, Stephenson is averaging 10.2 points and 4.8 assists.

Guard Gary Neal is listed as Stephenson’s top backup and is averaging 12.2 points and 2.6 rebounds through 19 games. 

The Hornets are favored by 4 ½ points over the 76ers Friday.

(11/27/2014) Although Hornets guard Kemba Walker was able to play through injury Wednesday against the Trail Blazers, it doesn't appear he will be active Friday against the Warriors. The Hornets announced Thursday that Walker is doubtful to play Friday because of a right thigh contusion.

The Hornets also listed guard P.J. Hairston as questionable due to a sprained right thumb, guard Gary Neal as doubtful due to a left shoulder sprain, forward Marvin Williams as doubtful with a left shoulder strain and forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist as out due to a stress reaction in his right foot.

Neal was questionable to play Saturday with a foot injury but came off the bench to play 11 minutes before suffering his injury. He scored four points on 1 of 5 shooting while grabbing three rebounds. Neal will have to pass the concussion protocol before being cleared to resume action.
