(3/31/2014) Bobcats guard Gary Neal returned to action on Monday, and nearly scored in double figures in a 100-94 victory over the Wizards.

Neal scored nine points on 3 of 6 from the floor, including 1 of 4 from downtown, and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with six rebounds, one assist and one steal while logging 21 minutes of game action. He is averaging 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds over his last three games.

Neal missed the past two games due to knee and ankle injuries. He is averaging 10.5 points per game this season.

(3/26/2014) Bobcats guard Gary Neal will not play Wednesday against the Nets due to knee and ankle injuries, according to the Charlotte Observer. It is not known when he suffered the injuries, but coach Steve Clifford told the Observer he expects Neal to be out 2-to-3 games, until he is healthy enough to be effective.

(3/19/2014) Though he was benched last week, Bobcats guard Gary Neal has mostly remained on his best behavior since escaping Milwaukee at the trade deadline. He put together another solid game Wednesday, in a 104-99 loss to the Nets.

Neal dropped 17 points in just 27 minutes off the bench, shooting 5 of 9 from the field with three 3-pointers made. He added one rebound and one assists while avoiding even a single turnover in the loss.

Neal has now appeared in 11 games for the Bobcats, and has scored in double figures in all but two of those games. He is averaging 13.3 points per game since the trade.  


Gary Neal's benching just a one-time issue

(3/12/2014) Bobcats guard Gary Neal wouldn't give any details on his benching Wednesday, but he did tell the Charlotte Observer following the game it would not be an issue moving forward.

"I made a mistake," Neal said. "Me and coach talked about it and we'll move forward from there."

Neal has been playing well recently, averaging 11.2 points in 26.8 minutes per game over five appearances prior to his benching. According to coach Steve Clifford, this incident should not impact Neal's role when the Bobcats take the floor next, Friday against Minnesota.

Neal ran into some trouble with teammates in Milwaukee earlier in the season, but the Charlotte Observer reports he was on the bench interacting with teammates at gametime. The team will likely give more information on this situation following the game.

Neal shot 3 of 11 from the floor, including 2 of 4 from downtown, and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He also tallied five assists while logging 33 minutes of game action. He is averaging 12.3 points and 2.3 assists over his first three games with the Bobcats.

The Bobcats have been in the market for a shooter and appear to have found their man in Neal, who averaged 10.0 points and 1.7 rebounds per game for the Bucks.

It was Neal's best offensive performance since Dec. 13 when he also scored 17 points, and he last topped that mark all the way back on Nov. 12. He kicked in two assists and one rebound in the loss. Neal has averaged 9.9 points and 19.9 minutes over 28 games played.

Neal logged 18 minutes of game action and endured a tough shooting night. He was limited to only three points on 1 of 8 shooting, including 1 of 5 from behind the arc. A 3-pointer from the right wing in the third quarter was his only basket of the night. He also added three assists and two rebounds. It was his first game action since Jan. 4.
