Sloan debuts in big, easy win

News: Hornets guard Donald Sloan appeared in his first game for the Hornets Friday, in a 104-92 win over the Timberwolves. Sloan failed to score in the game, but did dish out one assist in five minutes.
Analysis: Sloan will likely be used in just a deep reserve role off the bench while with the team, and he may not be there too long. He can be ignored in all Fantasy formats at this time.

Sloan back with New Orleans

News: The Hornets signed guard Donald Sloan to a 10-day contract Monday, his second stint with the team in the past two seasons. Sloan was released by the Cavaliers last month after managing just 12.8 minutes per game as a backup for Cleveland.
Analysis: Sloan also played three games with New Orleans last season -- one of three teams he landed a roster spot with in the lockout-shortened campaign. However, the 24-year-old is averaging just 5.0 points per game during his career and is not a viable Fantasy option.

Sloan waived by Cavaliers

News: Cleveland waived guard Donald Sloan on Tuesday and signed guard Shaun Livingston to back up at the point, reports the team's official site.
Analysis: All Sloan got for Christmas was waived by Cleveland. He didn't have much Fantasy value at any point with Cleveland and certainly has none now.

Sloan leads the way off bench

News: Cavaliers guard Donald Sloan led his team in scoring on Wednesday night against the Bulls. He scored a season-high 14 points in 24 minutes off the bench in the 95-85 loss. He went 4 for 8 from the field, including 2 for 3 from downtown, and converted all four of his free throws. Sloan also posted three assists and a rebound in the defeat.
Analysis: Sloan has seen his role increase since Kyrie Irving went down with an injury and is averaging seven points with 2.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds in the previous five contests. The 24-year-old has a long way to go before becoming a viable option in Fantasy, however, so continue to ignore him in the majority of formats at this point.

Sloan to see a boost?

News: With Kyrie Irving expected to be sidelined for at least a month, coach Bryon Scott told the team's official website that guard Donald Sloan will serve as the team's backup point guard behind Jeremy Pargo. However, Sloan did not see the court during Wednesday's contest against the 76ers.
Analysis: Sloan will supposedly serve as Pargo's main backup for the time being, but Scott decided to keep him on the bench Wednesday night. Sloan is averaging just 10 minutes per game thus far, but would be in line to see a boost in production if his minutes start to go up. However, until that happens, owners should continue to ignore the 24-year-old.

Sloan retains backup position

News: The Cavaliers named Donald Sloan their backup point guard to Kyrie Irving to begin the regular season after he edged Jeremy Pargo for the position. Sloan averaged 5.2 points and 2.2 assists per game during the preseason while seeing limited minutes behind Irving.
Analysis: Sloan initially made his NBA debut last year with the Hawks before being picked up by the Cavaliers for the remainder of the season in mid-March. The 24-year-old managed just 20.3 minutes per game last season and Irving is expected to command more playing time this year. Fantasy owners should leave Sloan alone in all formats at this point.

Sloan getting some starts

News: With Kyrie Irving missing four of the last five Cvaliers games, guard Donald Sloan has been starting for the team, and he had arguably his finest game on Sunday against the Nets. While he scored just six points on 3 of 13 shooting in the game, the rookie had a career-high 14 assists, while turning the ball over just twice, in a 122-117 loss.
Analysis: Sloan is the starter at point guard for the time being, as Irving remains out with a shoulder injury. The Cavs are still waiting on Irving’s return, however they will continue to run Sloan out there until he returns. Sloan will likely continue to see 30-plus minutes per game until that happens, so Fantasy owners can consider him a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats.

Sloan getting on the floor

News: Recently signed guard Donald Sloan has jumped right into the rotation for the Cavaliers, playing 20 and 11 minutes over the last two games. On Wednesday, he logged those 11 minutes in a 103-102 overtime loss to the Hawks, scoring just two points with two assists in his time on the floor.
Analysis: Sloan, on his third team of the season, scored 11 points on Monday while playing 20 minutes, showing some surprising skills. With the Cavaliers in need of some depth at the point guard position, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Sloan spend the rest of the year with the team as a backup, however he has no Fantasy value at this time.

Sloan signs with Cavs

News: The Cavaliers announced Friday that they have signed guard Donald Sloan for the remainder of the season. Sloan last played with the Hornets this season, appearing in three games in February.
Analysis: Sloan is on his third NBA team this season, but with the Cavs signing him for the rest of the year he now has some stability. Sloan will provide depth after the trade of Ramon Sessions, but will likely be buried on the depth chart for the remainder of the season. He has no value in any Fantasy formats.

Sloan inks 10-day contract with Hornets

News: The Times-Picayune reports the Hornets signed guard Donald Sloan to a 10-day contract on Wednesday.
Analysis: Sloan was released by Atlanta in late January. His signing with the Hornets indicates the team is looking for a little guard depth with Jarrett Jack sidelined by injury. Sloan could very well be a free agent again shortly, so continue to ignore him in Fantasy.

Sloan released by Hawks

News: The Hawks announced Thursday that guard Donald Sloan has been released.
Analysis: Sloan appeared in five games for Atlanta, averaging 1.2 points and 1.0 assists. He was buried on the depth chart and his release is not big news. Continue to ignore him in Fantasy.

Sloan makes NBA debut

News: Hawks rookie G Donald Sloan made his NBA debut on Wednesday, playing five minutes off the bench in the Hawks 96-84 loss to the Pacers. He helped close a big gap by scoring the first six points of his career on three-of-four shooting, while adding four rebounds.
Analysis: The 23-year old spent four years at Texas A&M and was with the Reno Bighorns during the 2010-11 NBA D-League season. He is one of the last guys off the Hawks bench and should not be on the radar of any Fantasy owners.
