Cory Joseph steps up in start

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(2/7/2014) Spurs guard Cory Joseph tried to keep the injury-battered Spurs afloat Thursday, as he put together his best performance of the season in a 103-89 loss to the Nets.

Joseph scored a season-high 18 points on 5 of 12 shooting, as he made himself comfortable at the free-throw line. He sank all seven of his tries at the charity stripe, and did a good job filling up the box score otherwise in his 35 minutes of action. He added four rebounds, four steals and three assists while turning the ball over twice in the losing effort.

Joseph has appeared in 38 of the team's first 50 games, and is playing a much bigger role than in years past. He is averaging a career-high 4.7 points per game, while adding 1.3 assists in just 13.1 minutes per game.
