Johnson only used in garbage time

News: Timberwolves forward Chris Johnson played just the final three minutes of Tuesday's 105-82 win over the Pistons. Johnson snagged one rebound and blocked one shot in the game.
Analysis: Johnson has filled in for the Timberwolves when they were hit hard by injuries this season, but he has played just 11 minutes total over the last six games. Johnson has done well to earn a contract for the full year after being signed for just 10 days initially, but he is averaging just 3.0 points per game over the last 10. Johnson might have done enough to earn himself a look in free agency from someone looking for a big man, but he is averaging just 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game on the year and can be safely ignored in all Fantasy formats down the stretch.

Johnson stays with T'Wolves

News: The Timberwolves waived seldom-used forward Lou Amundson on Friday in order to clear a spot on the active roster, the team announced. Minnesota signed forwards Mickael Gelabale and Chris Johnson for the remainder of the season -- both were under 10-day contracts.
Analysis: Johnson has only appeared in two of the Timberwolves' past three games, but he has averaged 7.0 points in that span. The LSU product has been efficient from the field (75.0 field-goal percentage), but is not worth a roster spot in the majority of Fantasy formats for now.

C. Johnson gets another deal

News: The Timberwolves announced Tuesday they signed forward Chris Johnson to a second 10-day contract.
Analysis: Johnson has averaged 9.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in five games since signing with the Timberwolves. If he continues to contribute at a respectable pace, then the team might choose to keep him on the rest of the season. Still, Johnson's numbers aren't making a significant impact in Fantasy, so he continues to have marginal appeal.

Johnson shows up in debut

News: Given the state of the Timberwolves roster, recently-signed forward Chris Johnson was pressed into immediate duty Saturday against the Rockets. Johnson scored a career high 15 points on 4 of 4 shooting, as he went 7 of 8 from the free-throw line. He added six rebounds and a block in just 18 minutes, in leading the Wolves to a 92-79 win.
Analysis: Johnson is on just a 10-day contract, but a few more games like Saturday’s might earn him a job for the rest of the year. There is little reason to think he can keep this up, however, as the 27-year-old has averaged just 2.1 points in 41 previous NBA games. We will keep an eye on his production, moving forward, however Fantasy owners should still leave Johnson for the waiver wires in most formats.

Johnson gets 10-day contract

News: Minnesota signed forward/center Chris Johnson to a 10-day contract on Saturday. Johnson spent training camp with the Wolves this season.
Analysis: Johnson last played in the NBA last year with New Orleans and Portland. He played in 27 games and averaged 6.5 minutes per night. He has low-end Fantasy value.

Hornets cut ties with Johnson

News: The Hornets announced on Wednesday the waiving of center Chris Johnson, as a result of the Darryl Watkins signing. Johnson has missed the team's last eight games with a concussion.
Analysis: It seems very unlikely that Johnson will be able to catch on with another team with only a week left in the season. He has no Fantasy value at this point, and is unlikely to be worth much next season on Draft Day.

Johnson still dealing with issues

News: The New Orleans Times Picayune reported Monday that center Chris Johnson is still suffering from light sensitivity and headaches, as a result of a concussion suffered on April 1. He said he hopes to return by the middle of April.
Analysis: Johnson still has to pass a series of tests as part of the league-mandated concussion policy once he begins feeling better, so it is clear that he is still a ways from returning. While it won't be tough to know when he is able to return, as these issues are closely monitored, it won't make much of a difference, as Johnson barely plays. Leave him on waivers in all Fantasy formats.

News: Hornets center Chris Johnson was held out of Saturday night's contest against the Timberwolves as he continues to deal with a concussion. Johnson has now missed three straight games with his ailment.
Analysis: Johnson will have to pass a series of tests as part of the league-mandated concussion policy, so his progress will likely be closely monitored. While it won't be tough to know when he is able to return, it won't make much of a difference, as Johnson barely players. Leave him on waivers in all Fantasy formats.

Johnson ruled out vs. Nuggets

News: Hornets center Chris Johnson has been ruled out for Wednesday's contest against the Nuggets due to a concussion, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Johnson suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss against the Suns.
Analysis: Johnson will not play Wednesday night as he has yet to pass the league's mandated concussion impact tests. While it won't be tough to know when he is able to return, it won't make much of a difference, as Johnson barely players. Leave him on waivers in all Fantasy formats.

Johnson suffers concussion

News: Hornets center Chris Johnson played just four minutes on Sunday, as he was forced to leave the game against the Suns after suffering a concussion. He will be re-evaluated in the next two days, as the Hornets do not play again until Wednesday.

Johnson makes Hornet debut

News: Center Chris Johnson, who was released from the Trail Blazers last week, made his debut for New Orleans on Thursday, playing five minutes in their 97-90 win over the Clippers. Johnson scored two points on free throws in the game and recorded no other stats.
Analysis: Johnson played sparingly for the Blazers and did not see action every night. He's played in just 19 games this season and averages less than five minutes per night, and while the Hornets have some frontcourt injuries, it is unlikely that Johnson will see much more time for them. Continue to ignore him in all Fantasy formats.

Blazers to release Johnson

News: After a flurry of moves on Thursday left them with a crowded roster, the Oregonian is reporting that the Trail Blazers plan on releasing center Chris Johnson.
Analysis: Johnson played sparingly for the Blazers and did not see action every night. He's played in just 19 games this season and averages less than five minutes per night. Johnson has no Fantasy value even if he catches on with another team.

Foot doesn’t bother Johnson

News: Trail Blazers center Chris Johnson didn’t need much time at all to recover from a foot injury sustained on Tuesday, as he was back out on the floor for Wednesday’s game against the Knicks. Johnson played nine minutes in the game, scoring three points and grabbing two rebounds as the Blazers lost, 121-79.
Analysis: Johnson plays sparingly for the Blazers and doesn't see action every night. He's played in just 19 games this season and averages less than five minutes per night. Johnson has no Fantasy value even when healthy.

News: Portland center Chris Johnson suffered a right foot injury on Tuesday night in a game at Indiana. Johnson attempted to shake off the injury, but ultimately decided he was done for the night. Johnson played just four minutes and did not score. He had one rebound.

Portland keeps Johnson around

News: According to The Oregonian, the Trail Blazers have opted to keep forward Chris Johnson for the rest of the season, which means his contract is guaranteed. “I was just smiling from ear-to-ear,” Johnson said. “Just excited. It was definitely a goal of mine to stay here, be a part of this.” Johnson first joined the team last season on a 10-day contract and has stuck around in Portland. “He’s a young big who has length, who’s active,” Blazers coach Nate McMillan said. “We think he has a pretty good future. He’s a guy that we’ve liked the last year or so and have tried to tie him up.”
Analysis: Johnson appeared in 14 regular-season games and four playoff games for the Blazers last season. Johnson won the NBA Development League Defensive Player of the Year award last season for his play the Dakota Wizards before joining the Blazers. He gives them depth on the frontcourt, but has been getting just four minutes of action in his 11 games so far this year. While it's good to hear he'll be sticking around for the Trail Blazers, Johnson is not worth owning in any Fantasy format.

Johnson sees some garbage time

News: The Trail Blazers have kept C Chris Johnson on their roster all season, a feat he couldn’t manage last year. Despite that, he has barely had a role, appearing only in limited minutes in blowouts, as seen on Wednesday. He received five minutes of playing time in the Blazers’ 112-68 win over the Bobcats, scoring two points on 1 of 1 shooting while grabbing a rebound in garbage time.
Analysis: Even though Johnson has been on the roster all season, he has not been a part of their rotation at any point and should be ignored in all Fantasy formats.

Blazers to keep Johnson

News: The Trail Blazers have signed center Chris Johnson of the NBA Development League's Dakota Wizards for the remainder of the season, it was announced Monday. Johnson, 25, previously signed a 10-day contract with the Trail Blazers on Jan. 22 and appeared in two games, Feb. 1 vs. San Antonio and Feb. 2 at Denver, totaling four points and four rebounds in 16 minutes. In his first NBA season, Johnson (6-11, 249) also appeared in four games for Boston from Feb. 24-March 4, where he totaled six points, five rebounds and three blocked shots in 32 minutes.
Analysis: Even though Johnson will remain in Portland he has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all leagues heading into Fantasy Week 21.

Johnson to join Trail Blazers

News: The Oregonian reports that the Trail Blazers will sign F Chris Johnson for the remainder of the season. Johnson, who played in six games during his brief NBA stints earlier this season, averaged 16.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocks in 35 games this season in the D-League.
Analysis: Johnson will give the team some size and depth on the end of the bench, but he is not expected to see significant playing time. As a result, he should remain unowned in all Fantasy formats.

Johnson not re-signed by C's

News: The Boston Globe reports the Celtics will not re-sign center Chris Johnson to another 10-day contract because they needed to add veteran point guard Carlos Arroyo to backup Rajon Rondo.
Analysis: Johnson chipped in for the shorthanded Celtics when given the opportunity, but once they got healthy and/or made some moves before the trade deadline -- it was only a matter of time before Johnson saw the door. He contributed less than two points and rebounds in six appearances for Boston before getting let go. Johnson should be left on the Fantasy waiver wire even in he signs another contract soon.

Johnson fills in for C's

News: After Boston made two deals on Thursday they were left shorthanded. Enter center Chris Johnson, who the Celtics signed to a 10-day contract, to fill a void. He made his first shot and finished the night going 2 for 3 from the field. Johnson also hit both his foul shots, finishing with six points. He added one rebound and three blocks in his 17 minutes of action. The Celtics would lose steam down the stretch as the Nuggets went on a run and eventually winning the game 89-75.
Analysis: Johnson played two games for Portland before they let him go at the beginning of February and probably won't be around too long after his current contract. Once Boston gets the new guys in the lineup and get the O'Neals healthy, Johnson is probably headed back to the D-League. He can be ignored in all Fantasy formats.

Celtics bring on Johnson

News: Boston signed center Chris Johnson on Thursday to a 10-day contract. Johnson played two games for Portland before they let him go at the beginning of February.
Analysis: Johnson will bridge the gap until all the players Boston traded for join the team on the current road trip. The Celtics also have to get Shaq and Jermaine O'Neal healthy for the final stretch of the season. It's unlikely Johnson will stay on Boston's roster long, which means Fantasy owners can ignore him.

Blazers won't bring back Johnson

News: The Oregonian reports that the Trail Blazers will not re-sign center Chris Johnson. Johnson was signed to a 10-day contract on Jan. 24.
Analysis: Johnson was helping fill in for Marcus Camby, who should be back in a couple of weeks. Continue to ignore Johnson in all Fantasy formats.
