Hornets center Bismack Biyombo will play Sunday

(3/1/2015) Hornets center Bismack Biyombo is set to return to the floor Sunday after missing the team's last 11 games, reports the Charlotte Observer.

Biyombo, who is averaging 4.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in 38 games, is likely to come off the bench Sunday against the Magic. He is expected to play 7-8 minutes in each half.

The Hornets are currently 1 1/2 point favorites against Orlando.

(2/27/2015) Hornets center Bismack Biyombo will miss his eleventh straight game with a bone bruise in his right knee. 

Coach Steve Clifford said that Biyombo would be inactive on Friday, at the Celtics. There's a chance he'll be able to return for Sunday's game at the Magic, however. 

The Hornets are two-point underdogs.

(2/27/2015) Hornets center Bismack Biyombo took part in Thursday's practice, and there's a "small chance" he'll be cleared Friday against the Celtics, though his likely return may come Sunday against the Magic in Orlando, reports the Charlotte Observer.

Biyombo has been sidelined since Jan. 24 with a knee injury. In 38 games, Biyombo averaged 4.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.

(2/25/2015) While Hornets center Bismack Biyombo is making progress from a bone bruise in his knee, he has yet to go through an entire practice, reports The Charlotte Observer.

The knee bruise has kept Biyombo sidelined since Jan. 24. With Biyombo unable to practice in full, it appears his status for Friday's game is doubtful at best.

"From what I saw (Tuesday), maybe trying to get (him back) in Orlando (on Sunday) would be a more realistic goal," coach Steve Clifford said Wednesday, per the Associated Press.

In 38 games, Biyombo is averaging 4.6 points and 6.2 rebounds.


MRI shows improvement in Hornets' Bismack Biyombo's knee

(2/21/2015) An MRI showed that Hornets C Bismack Biyombo is making progress in his recovery from a bone bruise in his knee. 

The team announced that the knee is improving and he will gradually begin on-court impact activities. 

Biyombo is expected to miss at least another week. He's averaging 4.6 points and 6.2 rebounds this season. 


Hornets expect to have Kidd-Gilchrist available Saturday; Biyombo out

(2/18/2015) Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was able to go through the non-contact portions of Wednesday's practice and is scheduled to participate in all of Thursday's practice, the team announced.

If Kidd-Gilchrist does not suffer any setbacks, he is expected to play in Saturday's game against the Thunder. Kidd-Gilchrist has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. In 36 games, he is averaging 10.2 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Meanwhile, center Bismack Biyombo is still dealing with a knee issue and will have another MRI on his knee Saturday, reports The Charlotte Observer. Biyombo last played Jan. 24 and will miss the next few games, coach Steve Clifford said. 


Hornets provide updates on injuries to Kidd-Gilchrist, Biyombo

(2/8/2015) The Hornets announced an MRI taken on Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's right hamstring revealed a hamstring strain and he has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Pacers and Tuesday's game against the Pistons. He will be reevaluated after the All-Star break. Guard Jeff Taylor will start in Sunday's game in place of Kidd-Gilchrist.

Meanwhile, an MRI confirmed center Bismack Biyombo is still dealing with a knee bruise. He last played Jan. 24 and is expected to miss at least the next two weeks. Center Cody Zeller should see his role increase while Biyombo is sidelined.

The Hornets are 2-point underdogs to the Pacers.

(2/5/2015) Hornets coach Steve Clifford said that he's not expecting center Bismack Biyombo to return to action until after the All-Star break, according to Charlotte Observer.

Biyombo suffered the injury Saturday against New York. He was diagnosed with a bone bruise on his right knee on Monday and is expected to be reevaluated in seven days. The backup center is averaging 4.6 points and 6.2 rebounds.through 38 games. Jason Maxiell could step in as the Al Jefferson's backup for the time being.

Four Hornets scored in double digits today and three players on the team recorded double-digit rebounds, but Biyombo was the only one to do both, delivering his third double-double in the last five games after posting just one double-digit scoring performance to that point of the season. He also chipped in two blocks and one assist in 25 minutes. The Hornets will look for a fourth straight win Friday against the Cavaliers in Cleveland.

(4/28/2014) Bobcats center Bismack Biyombo got the start for an injured Al Jefferson Monday night against Miami. Biyombo scored seven points and grabbed eight rebounds in a 109-98 Game 4 loss, a series sweep.

Biyombo only made nine starts this season, after the team acquired Jefferson in the offseason. He finished the season with averages of 2.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in 77 games.

(2/22/2014) Bobcats center Bismack Biyombo did a little more than usual Saturday, in a 92-89 win over the Grizzlies. Biyombo played 17 minutes off the bench and provided a solid presence  on defense and the board, finishing with seven rebounds and a pair of blocks. He added six points on 3 of 3 shooting as well.

Biyombo is probably playing the best basketball of his career, despite averaging career lows across the board. He is shooting 64.4 percent from the field, but is averaging just 3.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.

It was the sixth double-digit rebounding day of the season for Biyombo, who also blocked two shots in 17 minutes of action. He has averaged 3.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks over 24 games played.

(12/6/2013) Bobcats forward Bismack Biyombo was forced to leave Friday's 105-88 win against the 76ers with an ankle injury, and he would not return after the second quarter. Biyombo played seven minutes before the injury, finishing with four points and three rebounds.

The extent of the injury is not yet known for Biyombo. He has appeared in 18 of the team's first 20 games, averaging 3.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

Biyombo sustained the injury in the second quarter and was ruled out for the remainder of the game, according to the Charlotte Observer. He finished with four points, three rebounds and one block in seven minutes before the injury. His status remains up in the air for Monday's game against Golden State.

(11/30/2013) Bobcats center Bismack Biyombo made the most of some rare playing time Friday, in a 92-76 win over the Bucks. Biyombo recorded a season-high in rebounds, while reaching 20 minutes played for the first time in five games.

Biyombo snagged 14 rebounds in his 20 minutes of playing time, while adding seven points on 3 of 4 shooting. He blocked one shot and turned the ball over twice.

Biyombo has been in and out of the rotation throughout the season, and is averaging 4.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game in 15 appearances.

(11/15/2013) Bobcats center Bismack Biyombo got the start Friday against the Cavaliers, and will likely remain in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Heat. That is because starting center Al Jefferson's troublesome ankle continues to be a problem.

Biyombo played 32 minutes Friday, and managed to make an impact despite being held scoreless on one field-goal attempt. He led the team with 12 rebounds, and added three blocked shots.

Biyombo has started six of nine games for the Bobcats this season, and is averaging 3.7 points per game. He is adding a career-high 7.9 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game as well.
