Cavs waive Thompson

(2/6/2012) The Cleveland Cavaliers waived rookie F Mychel Thompson on Monday in order to create some roster flexibility, according to the Plain Dealer. Thompson started the team's past three outings and averaged 4.6 points with a high game of eight points last Tuesday against Boston.

Thompson shaky in first start

(1/31/2012) Cleveland started Mychel Thompson at shooting guard on Monday night in a home game against Boston. Thompson was tasked to guard Ray Allen in the game with both Daniel Gibson and Anthony Parker out injured. Unfortunately, Thompson himself was injured in the game. Thompson came to the bench holding his left arm and may have suffered a shoulder injury. Thompson went to the locker room before halftime, but did return. He finished with eight points over 31 minutes on 3 of 9 shooting with two 3-pointers. Thompson added four assists, a steal and a block for the Cavaliers in the losing effort.

Thompson returns to the floor

(1/29/2012) Cavaliers rookie G Mychel Thompson made just his second appearance of the season on Sunday, logging 12 minutes of playing time in the Cavs’ 88-87 win over the Celtics. Thompson scored his first career points in the game, putting up four on 2 of 3 shooting and grabbing two rebounds and a steal.

Thompson making strides for Cavs

(12/24/2011) According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cavs coach Byron Scott believes rookie guard Mychel Thompson is a better fit for the team than Manny Harris. Thompson beat out Harris for the final roster spot on the Cavaliers' roster. "[It's] nothing that Manny did wrong," Scott said. "The style we are playing right now suits Mychel a little more than it does Manny."
