News: Heat guard Mike Miller made his ninth start of the year during Tuesday's contest against the Knicks. Miller, who starting in place of the injured Dwyane Wade, finished with a season-high 18 points in the 102-90 defeat on 7 of 12 shooting from the field. He went 4 of 8 from downtown and also added eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal to his stat line, while logging 37 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Miller hasn't seen much of the court this season as Tuesday was only the 51st game he has appeared in. While the 33-year-old could continue to see a boost in minutes over the final eight games of the season, Miller's inconsistent production makes him way too risky of a play at this time of year. Continue to ignore the veteran in all formats moving forward.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller started for just the fifth time this season on Sunday against the Bobcats. With Dwyane Wade (knee) inactive, he scored six points and dished out four assists in the 109-77 win. He went 2 for 7 from the floor, including 2 for 6 from beyond the arc, while playing 22 minutes. Miller also posted three rebounds and a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Miller does not see a ton of playing time in Miami and entered Sunday averaging just 3.1 points on the year. He could see an increased role if Wade remains sidelined but the 33-year-old is someone to avoid in Fantasy down the stretch.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller was able to see some action late in Tuesday's 98-81 blowout win over the Hawks. Miller logged just six minutes of action and went 0 of 2 shooting from the field. He finished scoreless with a rebound, an assist and a steal.
Analysis: Miller has not been a major part of the rotation lately. He has only played in five of the last 20 games for Miami and has been held scoreless since Jan. 27. Miller is only averaging 3.4 points, and 2.2 rebounds per game this season and should be ignored in all formats heading into the final stretch of the season.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller, who was declared active, did not play Sunday night against the Cavaliers. He earned a DNP -- coach's decision. Miller has now missed his last four games.
Analysis: It appears as if Miller has been cleared to play after sitting out three games with flu-like symptoms, which led to an inner ear infection. He should be ready to roll again once the Heat play the Kings Tuesday night. Miller is averaging just 3.6 points per game this season over 13.9 minutes per night and should be ignored in all Fantasy formats moving forward.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller will return from his ear infection on Sunday against Cleveland, reports the team's official site. Miller had missed the previous three games with the illness.
Analysis: Miller is active for Miami once again, though not a major rotation member for the team. He sees minimal minutes and as such has very low-end Fantasy value.
News: Miami forward Mike Miller (illness) missed Saturday's game against Philadelphia. Miller has missed the last three games.
Analysis: Miller is a non-rotation player for the Heat. He gets minutes at times, but is mostly not a player to own in Fantasy circles.
News: The Heat announced that guard Mike Miller did not make the trip to Chicago with the team and has been ruled out of Thursday's contest against the Bulls as he continues to deal with an inner ear infection. Miller, who has missed his last five games, is listed as day to day. "As soon as he's given permission to fly, he'll meet us," head coach Erik Spoelstra told the Palm Beach Post.
Analysis: Miller went from having a flu to now dealing with an ear infection, which has kept him out longer than he would have hoped for. He'll now have a few days to rest before Saturday's contest against the 76ers, but the Heat are back home on Sunday against the Cavaliers, which may be the possible return date for the 33-year-old. We'll continue to monitor his progress moving forward. Miller is averaging just 3.6 points per game this season over 13.9 minutes per night and should be ignored in all Fantasy formats, even when healthy.
News: The Heat announced Wednesday that guard Mike Miller did not travel with the team to Atlanta for Wednesday's game against the Hawks because he is dealing with a cold. The team lists Miller's status as day to day.
Analysis: Miller is averaging just 3.6 points per game this season over 13.9 minutes per night. He did not play in the final three games before the All-Star break and is unlikely to ever gain any value this season for Miami even when healthy. Ignore him in all leagues even when he returns.
News: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Saturday that Heat guard Mike Miller is likely to be amnestied after the season by the team.
Analysis: Miller is averaging just 3.6 points per game this season over 13.9 minutes per night. He did not play in the final three games before the All-Star break and is unlikely to ever gain any value this season for Miami. He isn't gaining any on the horizon, either.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller was cleared to play Thursday against the Thunder, after missing the teams previous game due to an illness. Unfortunately, he stayed on the bench for the duration of the game, earning a DNP coachs decision in the game. Miller has appeared in just one game in the month of February.
Analysis: Miller was signed two years ago with the intention that he would be a big part of their plans, but injuries have pretty much put a stop to those plans. Miller is averaging a career-low 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game on the season, and is unworthy of being owned in any Fantasy formats at this point.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Heat guard Mike Miller will play Thursday night at Oklahoma City. Miller did not play Tuesday night against Portland because of the flu.
Analysis: Miller is a low-end Fantasy option when healthy, so ignore him even if he does return as expected. He does not play enough to produce at a high enough level to start in most formats.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller was ruled out for Tuesday's game against Portland after missing the morning shootaround with an illness, the Sun Sentinel reports. Miller has appeared in just one game this month, but failed to score in a win over the Clippers last Friday.
Analysis: Miller has fallen out of the Heat's rotation recently as he is averaging a meager 3.5 points per game since the beginning of the new year. Overall, the 32-year-old is connecting on a career-low 39.1 percent of his field-goal attempts and is considered a marginal Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller turned in a decent performance as he scored in double figures for just the third time this season during Sunday's contest against the Wizards. Miller logged in 22 minutes as he scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds in a 99-71 victory. He went 4 of 5 shooting from the field, including 2 of 3 from downtown, and converted all three of his attempts from the charity stripe. He also chipped in with an assist and a blocked shot in the win.
Analysis: Miller has shown every now and then that he can heat up from the 3-point line and was able to see a good chunk of his minutes once the game was out of hand. Miller, who scored in double figures for the first time since Dec. 4 against the Wizards, has averaged just 4.5 points over his last six games. He is only averaging 2.5 3-point attempts per game and is shooting 40.3 percent from the field from downtown this season. The 32-year-old is only worth owning in deeper, category-based Fantasy formats heading into Week 11 (Jan. 7-13).
News: Heat guard Mike Miller was able to play through an illness Wednesday, however he saw very little of the floor and was not productive in a 97-95 loss to the Warriors. Miller went scoreless over six minutes, missing his lone shot attempt in the game. He added three rebounds and an assist in the game.
Analysis: Miller can still get hot from three-point range, but he is pretty silent unless his shot is falling. Miller is averaging just 4.0 points per game on the season, and is only worth owning in deeper, category-based Fantasy formats.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller will likely deal with his back issue all season as the Heat have said they will limit his practice minutes in an attempt to keep him healthy, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel Saturday.
Analysis: The 32-year-old Miller has played 10 minutes combined in his first two games this season and has yet to score, not yet taking a single shot. He doesn't want to be limited, but that back issue isn't going away. He doesn't have much Fantasy value in any format right now.
News: Heat forward Mike Miller told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that his balky back will make it hard for him to play in spurts this season. Miller, who appeared in just 39 games last season due to back and other issues, added that the team is looking into getting him an exercise bike that he can ride between his shifts. "We'll figure it out," he said. "We have to do something. I'm good in spurts, and then it's hard."
Analysis: Miller contemplated retiring this season, but ultimately decided to give it one more go with the Heat. However, his chronic back issues are expected to once again limit his minutes and availability this season. The 32-year-old could also have a hard getting on the court now that the Heat added outside shooters Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis to the roster, who both play roles similar to Miller's. While the veteran is still a decent source for 3-pointers (45.3 percent last year), his lack of guaranteed minutes and health issues make him a risky option heading into the 2012-13 season. He is not worth drafting in most formats on Draft Day.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller recorded three points and two rebounds during the Heat's 93-85 victory over New York on Sunday. Miller sat out last Friday's game against Charlotte because of soreness. His only points came on a 3-pointer as he finished 1 for 3 from downtown.
Analysis: Miller has been dealing with a minor ankle issue so Miami wanted to be cautious with the 32-year-old entering the NBA playoffs. He has drained at least one trey in each of his last three games played but is averaging just 5.4 points per game. Leave him on waivers in all Fantasy formats.
News: Heat forward Mike Miller was held out of Friday night's win over the Bobcats in order to rest a few bumps and bruises, according to coach Erik Spoelstra. Miller missed 14 games earlier in the season with an ankle injury.
Analysis: Miller is necessarily injured right now, but the Heat want to be cautious with the injury-prone 32-year-old. He should be fine to play in Sunday's contest against the Knicks, but that shouldn't matter much to Fantasy owners at this point. Miller is averaging just 5.4 points on the year, making him a player to avoid over the final few weeks of the season.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller made his return to the floor on Sunday against the Pistons, and after missing 14 games with an ankle injury, showed significant signs of rust, missing all five of his attempts from the field. Miller added four rebounds, however he finished with no points in 24 minutes, as the Heat won 98-75.
Analysis: It wasnt much of a surprise to see Miller struggle with his shot given his extended absence, and playing the lowly Pistons, the Heat were more concerned about him escaping the game unscathed rather than worrying about how well he played right away. Miller will be given plenty more chances to shoot, however he is likely to remain just a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported on Saturday that Heat guard Mike Miller (ankle) is expected to return to action on Sunday against Detroit.
Analysis: Miller is not a major Fantasy weapon in any format. Who knows what his role will be upon his return. He's only averaged 5.6 points per game in 18 minutes per game on the season.
News: Heat forward Mike Miller was ruled out of Friday night's contest against the Grizzlies as he continues to recover from a left ankle injury. Miller, who last saw the court back on March 10, is "very close" to returning to the lineup, according to coach Erik Spoelstra.
Analysis: Miller seems to be almost ready to return to action, but the Heat are erring on the side of caution with the 32-year-old. It is not hard to understand why based on Miller's injury history and Miami wants to make sure he will be 100 percent for the playoffs. While Miller can be considered a decent source for 3-pointers and rebounds in deeper Rotisserie formats when healthy, he should not be owned in the majority of leagues at this point in the season.
News: All signs seem to indicate that Heat guard Mike Miller is close to returning to the court, however he was unable to do so on Wednesday against the Thunder, as he remains hobbled by an ankle injury.
Analysis: Miller has not played since March 10 because of the injury, however he has been participating in shoot around and practice in a limited capacity. There is not definite timetable for his return, however even when he does return he is not a strong Fantasy option.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller (ankle) participated in the team's shootaround, but will remain out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia, according to the Sun Sentinel. Miller has been hampered by a sprained ankle and hasn't played since March 10 because of the issue.
Analysis: Miller has been making progress with his injury, but was only able to partially complete Tuesday's workout. The Heat has not set a definitive timetable for his return, however, he is not a worthwhile Fantasy option at an average of just 5.6 points per game this season.
News: The Sun-Sentinel reports that Heat guard Mike Miller (ankle) will not play Thursday night against Dallas. He remains day to day, however the team announced on Thursday that he will not travel for the next two games, making next Tuesday against Philadelphia his likely next chance to return.
Analysis: Miller is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues when healthy. Continue to monitor his status, but he is not worth starting in most formats even when active.
News: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Heat guard Mike Miller (sprained ankle) was again held out of practice Wednesday. Miller has been out since March 10 with the injury. He was hopeful of returning for Thursday's game against Dallas, but his status will likely be questionable at best.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should continue to monitor what happens with Miller, and hopefully he can return against the Mavericks. He is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues when healthy.
News: The Palm Beach Post reports that Heat guard Mike Miller (ankle) will not travel with the team for their next three games Friday at Detroit, Sunday at Oklahoma City or Monday at Indiana. That means he is out until at least March 29 against Dallas.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should keep Miller reserved in all leagues. Even when healthy and active he has minimal Fantasy value in most formats.
News: Heat forward Mike Miller was ruled out for Tuesday night's contest against the Suns as he continues to be bothered by an ankle injury. Miller has now missed five straight games with his ailment, although he is being considered day to day.
Analysis: Miller is really pushing to get back on the court, but with his extensive injury history, the Heat are taking their time. Fantasy owners should continue to keep an eye on his status moving forward to see when he can get back on the court. However, Miller is averaging just 5.2 points on the season, making him more of a waiver-wire candidate, even when healthy.
News: While it had been reported that Heat forward Mike Miller might make his return on Sunday against the Magic, he continues to be hobbled by a left ankle injury and will not play. The Palm Beach Post has speculated that Millers recovery time should be measured in weeks, not days, as Miller is still unable to put weight on the ankle.
Analysis: James Jones will continue to get minutes in Millers absence, and while Miller is a key component for the Heat, he doesnt produce much when he is healthy. Continue to monitor his progress, however Miller is just a low-end reserve when healthy.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller (ankle) will not travel with the team for its upcoming three-game road trip, according to the Sun Sentinel. Miller is expected to miss Tuesday's game at Orlando, Wednesday's showdown at Chicago and Friday's outing at Philadelphia with a sprained left ankle. He suffered the injury during the first half of Saturday's game against Indiana when he managed only seven minutes.
Analysis: Miller has struggled to remain healthy during his tenure with the Heat and will now be sidelined for at least the next three games. The 32-year-old has been efficient while on the court and is netting 49.3 percent of his attempts from 3-point range this season -- the best clip of his career when playing at least 20 games. Fantasy owners should keep him reserved only in deeper formats at this point of the season.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that the Heat still don't the status of guard Mike Miller. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said they will continue to monitor Miller, who sustained a sprained left ankle in the first half of Saturday's game against the Pacers. Spoelstra is unsure if Miller will be ready this week.
Analysis: The Heat play four games this week with two games against the Magic, at Chicago and at Philadelphia. Keep an eye on Miller's status, but he has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues.
News: Heat forward Mike Miller left Saturday night's contest against the Pacers with an ankle injury. Miller stepped on Chris Bosh's foot in the second quarter and did not return. X-rays taken after the game were negative and he is being considered day to day at this point.
Analysis: Miller could wind up missing some time with his latest ailment, so Fantasy owners will have to monitor his status moving forward. However, Miller isn't much of a contributor for the Heat, owners should leave him on the waiver wire, even when healthy.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller scored six points on Sunday against the Lakers on 3 of 5 shooting, as he was unable to convert any three-pointers in the game. In fact, he didnt even attempt a three-pointer for the second game in a row, just the fourth time all season that Miller failed to attempt a three-pointer in a game. He also added three assists and a block in 18 minutes as the Heat lost 93-83 to the Lakers.
Analysis: Most of Millers value comes from his ability to convert three-pointers at a high rate, so its not a good sign that he hasnt been used that way in the last two games. As it stands, he is just a low-end option in deeper, category-based formats right now, and he will likely get back to shooting the three-ball soon.
News: Heat forward Mike Miller was able to knock down two more 3-pointer during Tuesday night's contest against the Kings. Miller finished 2 of 4 from downtown in the 120-108 victory, en route to racking up eight points. He made three of his six total field goals in the win and also added five rebounds, two assists and one steal to his stat line, while logging 19 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Miller isn't doing much scoring for the Heat, but he is still shooting the ball well. The 32-year-old is making over 51 percent of his shots from the field thus far and 52 percent of his attempts from behind the arc. While he is averaging just 6.4 points on the season, owners in Rotisserie formats looking for help in the 3-point department should consider scooping up Miller.
News:Mike Miller continued his torrid shooting from the 3-point line during Monday night's contest against the Bucks. Miller made three of his four attempts from behind the arc in the 114-96 victory, finishing with nine points. He missed all three of his attempts from inside the arc, but still added eight rebounds, one assist and a steal to his stat line, while logging 23 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Miller isn't doing scoring for the Heat, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been shooting the ball lights out. The 31-year-old has made at least one 3-pointer in each of the last seven games he has played in and is shooting a career-best 51 percent from downtown thus far. While he is averaging just 6.6 points on the season, owners in Rotisserie formats looking for help in the 3-point department should consider scooping up Miller.
News: Heat F Mike Miller was able to knock down a pair of 3-pointers during Tuesday night's contest against the Cavaliers. Miller, who is shooting 53 percent from behind the arc on the season, went 2 for 5 from downtown in the 107-91 victory, finishing with eight points. He also pulled down a season-high nine rebounds and an assist, while logging 24 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Miller has now made at least two 3-pointers in three of his last five contests and is shooting 50 percent from behind the arc on the season. However, his scoring remains very inconsistent as he is averaging just 7.8 points over his last five contest. While Miller continues to see around 20 minutes per game off the bench, he doesn't fill the stat sheet enough on a nightly basis to be a reliable Fantasy contributor. Only owners in deeper Rotisserie formats looking for help in the 3-point department should be starting Miller at this point in the season.
News: Heat G Mike Miller hit his hand on the backboard during Mondays game against New Orleans, but he was able to play on Wednesday against Milwaukee. He did not make a very large impact in the game, however, scoring just two points on 1 of 3 shooting in just twelve minutes. The normally reliable rebounder also failed to grab any misses in the game, adding just a single steal on the game.
Analysis: Miller was coming off a 14-point game on Monday, so its hard to say how much the hand injury bothered him on Wednesday. He may not have been 100 percent, but with the Heat involved in a close battle, they simply may have preferred to go with their starters more. Whatever the reason, its another part of an up and down, injury-filled season for Miller. Miller comes off the bench for Miami and provides a nice 3-point presence. But he doesn't fill the stat sheet enough on a nightly basis to be a reliable Fantasy contributor. He has low-end Fantasy appeal and is mostly useful in Rotisserie formats because of his 3-point prowess.
News:The Palm Beach Post reports Heat guard Mike Miller had his right hand wrapped in a large ice bandage Wednesday, but he is expected to play against Milwaukee. Miller said he hit his hand on the backboard in Monday's game against New Orleans.
Analysis: Miller comes off the bench for Miami and provides a nice 3-point presence. But he doesn't fill the stat sheet enough on a nightly basis to be a reliable Fantasy contributor. He has low-end Fantasy appeal and is mostly useful in Rotisserie formats because of his 3-point prowess.
News: Heat F Mike Miller may have suffered another wrist injury during Monday night's blowout win over the Hornets. Miller appeared to hurt his right wrist in the second quarter of the 109-95 win, but remained in the contest. He finished with 14 points and two rebounds on 6 of 8 shooting from the field.
Analysis: Miller was seen clinching his wrist several times during the game, although he never really left the contest. However, that doesn't mean Fantasy owners are out of the woods just yet. While he won't out him on the injury report because he finished out the game, owners should definitely keep an eye on his status moving forward -- especially based on the 31-year-old's recent injury history. Miller is averaging just under 7.0 points per game on the year and can be considered a low-end option in deeper formats, when healthy.
News: Miami G Mike Miller continues to make an impact in Dwyane Wades absence, scoring 10 points in 26 minutes off the bench in Wednesdays 101-98 win over the Pistons. He made 5 of 8 shots from the field with three rebounds and an assist in the game, his second double-digit scoring game in six games on the season. It was also his second time making at least half of his shots.
Analysis: Miller missed the first 11 games of the season, and his return has coincided with Wades absence, giving him an opportunity to step into some of the minutes vacated by Wade. He is currently averaging 7.4 points per game on 54.8 percent shooting, though his role is likely to go down with Wades return imminent. At this point, he should be considered just a low-end Fantasy option unless Wade suffers a setback on his injury.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller may have gone 6 for 6 from 3-point range in his season debut on Tuesday against San Antonio, but he was also banged up pretty good in the game. ESPN.com reports Wednesday that Miller was knocked down five times in the game as he tweaked an ankle and also aggravated his hernia injury. Miller refused X-rays and will attempt to play through the injuries.
Analysis: Miller was finally able to get back on the court Tuesday night and immediately make an impact. The 31-year-old looked in mid-season form against the Spurs and gave Fantasy owners a glimpse of what he can bring to the table if he can stay healthy. However, Miller did appear to get shaken up after taking a tumble in the first half. He was limping around for a few minutes but was able to remain in the game and finish out the contest. Fantasy owners -- especially in daily formats -- should keep an eye on his status moving forward, just to make sure he is OK moving forward. Despite Miller's impressive debut, consider him merely a low-end option until he proves he can stay healthy and contribute on a nightly basis.
News: Heat F Mike Miller was able to immediately make his presence felt during his season debut in Tuesday night's contest against the Spurs. Miller was 6 for 6 in 3-pointers in the 120-98 victory, finishing with 18 points and tying his career-high for makes from beyond the arc. He also pulled down four rebounds in the win to go along with an assist, while logging 15 minutes off the bench. "Every once in a while you get going when you're a shooter," Miller said. "I just happened to do that."

News: Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said Heat G Mike Miller could be active for Tuesday's game against San Antonio after dealing with a hernia issue all season. Miller, who has not played this year, could be inserted into the rotation with Miami G Dwyane Wade sidelined with a sprained ankle.
Analysis: Miller has been a full participant in practice the past few weeks and could help fill the team's void around the perimeter. He has been pegging Tuesday as a possible return date and even if he doesn't play against the Spurs, it appears he could will be back on the court soon. Fantasy owners should monitor his progress and consider him a low-end option until he proves he can remain healthy and contribute.

Miller, who has yet to play this season, has been able to practice without restrictions over the past few weeks. I hope. Obviously, thats my game plan. But, right now, its up to them," he said.
Analysis: Miller appears to be very close to returning to the court and could make his season debut as early Tuesday. However, a ton can change between now and then, so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward to make sure. However, until Miller proves he can stay healthy and productive, his value will remain limited to that of a low-end option.
News: Heat F Mike Miller (sports hernia)was able to practice without restriction Monday, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Miller, who has yet to play this season, could be ready to make his debut on Wednesday against the Clippers.

News: Heat F Mike Miller (sports hernia) was able to practice at full speed on Monday and will likely make his season debut sometime during the team's upcoming five-game road strip, reports the Miami Herald. Miller underwent surgery to repair a hernia back in November.
Analysis: Miller appears to be getting closer to making his return to the court, but Fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited. The 31-year-old has unable to stay on the floor during his time in Miami and shot a career-low 40 percent from the field when he did. While owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward, we recommend taking a wait-and-see approach with Miller once he does return.
News: Miami SG Mike Miller was in street clothes for the Heat's season-opening blowout win at Dallas on Sunday. Miller isn't likely to return until sometime in early-to-mid January as he recovers from hernia surgery.
Analysis: Miller was expected to stretch the floor and add another dimension to the Miami Heat's offense, but the injuries sapped his effectiveness when he was on the floor last season, and he shot a career low .401 from the field, while shooting his second lowest career mark from beyond the arc. Fantasy owners can pretty much ignore him for now, however, and hope he plays well upon returning to the court.
News: Miami G Mike Miller, who underwent his fourth surgery in a year last week to fix a hernia, will not be a victim of the amnesty clause, according to a report in The New York Post. It has been widely speculated that the Heat would use amnesty to clear Millers salary off their cap in an attempt to go after a free agent center, however, they appear willing to see their free agent investment through to at least next offseason. Miller is expected to miss the first month of the season following the surger.
Analysis: Miller was expected to stretch the floor and add another dimension to the Miami Heat's offense, but the injuries sapped his effectiveness when he was on the floor last season, and he shot a career low .401 from the field, while shooting his second lowest career mark from beyond the arc. When healthy, Miller is one of the best rebounding guards in the NBA and can provide value in a number of different ways that make him a useful Fantasy option, however it's difficult to see him staying healthy for a full season given his recent history and age, 31. With this most recent injury, you have every reason keep him off your board completely for 2011-12 Fantasy drafts. But see how he returns from the injury, as he may be a valuable option in the stretch run.
News: Miami Heat G Mike Miller underwent surgery early in the week to repair a hernia, or what he called an ab muscle that had pulled away from the pelvic bone" in an interview with The Palm Beach Post. "And, yes, its as painful as it sounds. It was the fourth surgery for Miller since signing with the Heat during the summer of 2010, and it comes just as he was expressing optimism that he would be fully healed from the shoulder and thumb injuries that hindered him last season. I've had no surgeries in my life, Miller said. Now I come here, and in 12 months, Ive had four. Miller said he's not sure when he'll be back, but recovery "will be measured in weeks," and it appears very likely he won't be back in time for the start of the season.
Analysis: Miller had never played in fewer than 63 games before missing 28 and 41 over the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, respectively. He was expected to stretch the floor and add another dimension to the Miami Heat's offense, but the injuries sapped his effectiveness when he was on the floor last season, and he shot a career low .401 from the field, while shooting his second lowest career mark from beyond the arc. When healthy, Miller is one of the best rebounding guards in the NBA and can provide value in a number of different ways that make him a useful Fantasy option, however it's difficult to see him staying healthy for a full season given his recent history and age, 31. Miller may see himself released by the Heat as part of the new collective bargaining agreement's "amnesty clause," which could drastically alter his Fantasy value. With this most recent injury, you have every reason keep him off your board completely for 2011-12 Fantasy drafts.
News: Miami G Mike Miller said he did not experience any pain in his thumb while competing in a recent exhibition game in Orlando. Miller had surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left thumb last June and is expected to be prepared for the upcoming season. It felt good, Miller told Hoopsworld.com. Its good to get out there and play a little bit. I felt fine. Miller also dealt with a shoulder injury during the NBA Finals last season.
Analysis: Miller was hampered by injuries for the majority of the 2010-11 season and appeared in only 41 games for the Heat. The injury issues clearly seemed to rattle him as he finished with a career-low 5.6 points per game. Brought in to be a sharpshooter for Miami, his accuracy was also off and he connected on just 36 percent of his 3-point attempts. It was his lowest mark since the 2002-03 season with Orlando (34 percent). Miller could be in line for a rebound this year, but don't reach for him until the later rounds of 2011-12 Fantasy drafts.
News: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Heat forward Mike Miller is recovering from surgery for a ruptured tendon in his left thumb. Miller was injured during the latter stages of the regular season, finishing the postseason in protective bracing on his non-shooting hand. Miller sustained a similar injury to his right thumb during the preseason, with the ensuing surgery sidelining him for two months and limiting his effectiveness for the balance of the season.
Analysis: Miller should be fine once the season starts in 2011-12, but continue to monitor his status. When healthy, Miller has minimal Fantasy value and is not worth drafting in the majority of leagues.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller is probably ready for the offseason to begin after a difficult first year in Miami. Miller dealt with several injuries in 2010-11, including both thumbs and his left shoulder. He had a down year during the regular season with 5.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists. That was way off his career numbers of 13.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists. And in the playoffs, Miller averaged just 2.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 18 games off the bench as Miami reached the NBA Finals before losing to Dallas in six games.
Analysis: Miller should definitely improve in 2011-12, but his Fantasy value might not jump dramatically playing as a reserve behind LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. Miller is likely headed for surgery on his left thumb, so that is something to monitor, but he should only be drafted with a late-round pick in deep formats. His 3-point shooting should improve (he shot just 36 percent during the regular season), and that might be his best asset for Fantasy owners in category-based leagues.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller dealt with his shoulder injury on Thursday night, but was not effective for the Heat. He missed all three of his 3-point attempts against the Mavericks and grabbed four rebounds. He also blocked a shot and made a steal for Miami, but Dallas would rally from 15 points down to win Game 2, 95-93.
Analysis: Miller wore a protective sleeve on his left shoulder, but it didn't seem to help him out on Thursday. He's a good 3-point shooter, but has been too banged up this year to do much good for Miami. Heading into 2011-12, Miller should be considered a low-end Fantasy option in all leagues. He is only worth drafting with a late-round pick in deeper category-based leagues.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra expects guard Mike Miller (shoulder) to play in Game 2 of the NBA Finals against Dallas on Thursday. Miller wore a protective sleeve on his left shoulder during Tuesday's Game 1 of these NBA Finals against the Mavericks. Spoelstra said there are no reservations entering Thursday night's Game 2. "He's fine," Spoelstra said. "He went through the shootaround today. I didn't even notice. Occasionally, it gets tweaked during the game and it'll look worse than it is."
Analysis: Miller has been dealing with an assortment of injuries throughout the season, including severe sprains to both thumbs, knee soreness and concussion symptoms. It appears like Miller will play Thursday, and hopefully he will be OK. Heading into 2011-12, Miller should be considered a low-end Fantasy option in all leagues. He is only worth drafting with a late-round pick.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports Wednesday that Heat guard Mike Miller was on the court during practice without thumb braces or a shoulder brace. Miller, who is dealing with injuries to both thumbs, hurt his shoulder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against Dallas on Tuesday. "It's fine," Miller said. "Just old age." Coach Erik Spoelstra said Miller is expected to play in Game 2 on Thursday. "There won't be anything stopping him from playing," Spoelstra said.
Analysis: Miller's problems appear to be never ending. We should know more about Miller's status for Game 2 on Thursday, and hopefully he will be OK. Heading into 2011-12, Miller should be considered a low-end Fantasy option in all leagues. He is only worth drafting with a late-round pick.
News: According to ESPN.com, Heat forward Mike Miller aggravated a left shoulder injury late in Tuesday's victory against the Mavericks and will be re-evaluated Wednesday. Miller left the game with 3:58 remaining in the fourth quarter after taking a hit while on defense. He did not return in the Heat's 92-84 victory in Game 1 against the Mavericks and left the arena wearing a protective sling to brace his left shoulder. "It's just a little thing I'm dealing with, but I'll be all right," Miller said. "I don't think it's a big deal. I'm OK. Believe me. I'm OK." Miller said he did not have an X-ray or an MRI exam on the shoulder after the game. He initially bruised the shoulder last week in the final seconds of the Heat's Game 4 win against the Chicago Bulls as he attempted to fight through a screen. Miller entered Tuesday's game against the Mavericks wearing a protective sleeve that extended from his left shoulder to his wrist. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after the game that Miller wore the sleeve "just to keep his arm warm," Spoelstra said. "He's fine."
Analysis: Miller's problems appear to be never ending. He had been dealing with an assortment of injuries throughout the season, including severe sprains to both thumbs, knee soreness and concussion symptoms. Miller also had been dealing with his infant daughter's illness that left her in an intensive care unit for several days after her birth two weeks ago. We should know more about Miller's status for Game 2 on Thursday, and hopefully he will be OK. Heading into 2011-12, Miller should be considered a low-end Fantasy option in all leagues. He is only worth drafting with a late-round pick.
News: According to ESPN.com, Heat guard Mike Miller has been playing with a ruptured tendon in his left thumb that he suffered a month ago, coach Erik Spoelstra said Wednesday. "A month ago, Mike had just ruptured his ligament in his left thumb so I didn't know how productive he would be in the playoffs," Spoelstra said. Spoelstra had previously said that Miller's thumb was badly injured, but he never revealed any specifics. It is unknown precisely when the rupture occurred but Miller was visibly bothered by his left thumb during Game 1 of the Heat's first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers. After playing just six minutes total in the first two games of the first-round, Miller sat out the rest of the series. He received about two weeks off before playing in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Celtics. Entering Tuesday's Game 4, Miller had struggled in the playoffs, shooting just 20 percent from the floor, including 1 for 10 on 3-pointers. He recorded 12 points and nine rebounds in 26 minutes in Game 4, which were all playoff-highs for the 31-year-old this season.
Analysis: Miller missed nearly three months of the regular season due to a similar injury to his right thumb, which required surgery in October. He made his Heat debut on Dec. 20 against the Mavericks. Miller's issues also extend off the court. His wife gave birth to a baby girl last Thursday in a South Florida hospital, but the newborn daughter has remained in the intensive care unit with an undisclosed health issue. Miller left with the team on Wednesday to travel to Chicago. He will continue to play in the playoffs, but keep an eye on his status. Heading into 2011-12, Miller should be considered a low-end Fantasy option in all leagues. He is only worth drafting with a late-round pick.
News: For Mike Miller, this Heat playoff run is coming at a personally trying time. Miller's newborn daughter Jaelyn remains in the intensive care unit of a South Florida hospital because of complications, her condition closely and constantly monitored by doctors. Miller accompanied the Heat on their flight to Chicago for Thursday night's Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals, acknowledging that it would be difficult to keep his emotions in check. "Obviously, I haven't been away from her," Miller said. "I was there until 4 o'clock again this morning. That'll be the hard part, when you're away and having to make decisions while you're away. That makes it difficult." Jaelyn was born between Games 2 and 3 of the East finals. Miller has not missed either game since she was born, and told reporters on Tuesday night - after perhaps one of his best games with the Heat - that his daughter is "a fighter." Miller had 12 points off the bench in Miami's win over Chicago in Game 4, and the Heat outscored the Bulls by a staggering 36 points with him in the game.
Analysis: Miller had a tough season with Miami, breaking the thumb on his shooting hand during the preseason, then dealing with an array of other injuries as the year went along. Hopefully he can close the postseason playing well, and we hope everything with his daughter is OK. Keep an eye on what happens with Miller for the rest of the playoffs, but Miller has a lot to prove to Fantasy owners heading into 2011-12. Go into next season with Miller as a low-end Fantasy option, and he's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues.
News: Heat reserve guard Mike Miller was not at practice Friday because he was with his wife, who is expecting the birth of their child. Miller is expected to play in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals against Chicago.
Analysis: Miller has struggled all season for the Heat, including the playoffs, and will likely need thumb surgery this offseason. Hopefully he can rebound during the rest of the postseason, but Miller has a lot to prove to Fantasy owners heading into 2011-12. Go into next season with Miller as a low-end Fantasy option, and he's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues.
News: The Miami Herald reports that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said guard Mike Miller would be playing more in the postseason if he was fully healthy. But Miller said his left thumb which will require offseason surgery is not affecting his shot (hes 2 for 11 in postseason) or his play: Its sore, but its not going to cause me any problems. Basketball is a rhythm sport, especially shooting. Right now, I just dont have one. Hopefully, Ill have an opportunity to.
Analysis: Miller continues to be a disappointment in the playoffs following a down year. Hopefully he can rebound during the rest of the postseason, but Miller has a lot to prove to Fantasy owners heading into 2011-12. Go into next season with Miller as a low-end Fantasy option, and he's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Friday that Heat guard Mike Miller had another strong workout but there is no indication he will return to rotation. Miller has not played in the last three playoff games against the 76ers as he continues to deal with an ongoing thumb injury. Despite being hurt, Miller is being held out as a healthy scratch. The Heat begin the Eastern Conference semifinals against Boston on Sunday in Miami.
Analysis: Miller continues to be a disappointment in the playoffs following a down year. Hopefully he can rebound during the postseason, but Miller has a lot to prove to Fantasy owners heading into 2011-12. Go into next season with Miller as a low-end Fantasy option, and he's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller did not see the court during Game 4 of Miami's playoff series against the 76ers on Sunday. Miller, who has been dealing with a thumb injury, also was held out of Game 3. Coach Erik Spoelstra said previously that Miller's lack of playing time is not a result of an injury or poor play.
Analysis: Miller was once again reduced to the role of a spectator on Sunday and has now played in a combined three minutes during the first four games of the series. While his thumb is still a concern, his lack of minutes are apparently not a result of his injury. According to Spoelstra, it has more to do with matchups and the flow of the game. Miller has no doubt underachieved during his first season in Miami and has been a major disappointment for Fantasy owners. Consider the veteran more of a low-end Fantasy option heading into next season.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports Friday that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said holding Mike Miller out in Game 3 on Thursday at Philadelphia was not due to injury or poor play. But Spoelstra hinted that Miller also might not hit the court Sunday in Game 4. Miller has been dealing with an injured left thumb.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller was available off the bench on Thursday in Philadelphia, but the veteran did not get off the bench. He's still dealing with pain in his injured left thumb and admitted he'll need offseason surgery on it. "Nah, it's going to be fine," Miller told the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Thursday. "Grimacing is all right. It's a little bit of pain. Pain never hurt anybody." Miller received a DNP - coach's decision in Game 3, which the Heat won 100-94.
Analysis: Miller is 0 for 3 from the field in the series. Coach Erik Spoelstra has said Miller isn't 100 percent and that Miller is tough, but that doesn't give him Fantasy value. While he is a sharpshooter from downtown, Miller is merely a low-end option in Fantasy leagues. Consider taking him in the later rounds on Draft Day this fall.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Heat forward Mike Miller said his injured left thumb continues to bother him. Miller said even though his injured left thumb likely will need offseason surgery, he insists he is managing the pain during this opening-round best-of-seven NBA playoff series against the 76ers. "Nah, it's going to be fine," he said Thursday. "Grimacing is all right. It's a little bit of pain. Pain never hurt anybody." Miller is being used in limited spurs by coach Erik Spoelstra, who then assesses how much the veteran reserve can contribute on a given night. "He's not playing at 100 percent health," Spoelstra said. "We all know that right now. And what I've told him is just give us whatever he can and he's a warrior. He's proven so many times this year, and it's been a challenging year for him from a health standpoint, that he's physically tough in terms of playing through injuries, playing through pain, all of that."
News: For a countless time, Heat guard Mike Miller appeared to injure one of his sprained thumbs in Monday's Game 2 against the Sixers. He played just three minutes in the blowout win, failing to record a stat on the night, though he turned the ball over one time. After his short stint, Miller never returned to the game. Afterwards, the Palm Beach Post reported that he jammed his left thumb on the rim. He has played just six minutes through the first two games of the series.
Analysis: Miler said that the left thumb is more of an issue than the right thumb, and that was before Monday. When asked whether it had been checked out, and in fact he did not require surgery, Miller smiled. "Not touching that," he said. Then he added: "We'll make it through." He appears to needs time off to rest the ailment, and James Jones has played very well early in the postseason. We wouldn't be surprised to see Miller take a rest in one of the upcoming games. Fantasy owners should stay atop the situation, though he has been a disappointment all season long.
News: The Palm Beach Post reports that Heat guard Mike Miller continues to deal with a left thumb injury. Miller said Sunday that the left thumb hurts far more than the right, which is also braced following early-season surgery. When asked whether it had been checked out, and in fact he did not require surgery, Miller smiled. "Not touching that," he said. Then he added: "We'll make it through."
Analysis: Miller continues to be a disappointment in the playoffs, at least after his Game 1 performance against the Sixers, following a down year. Hopefully he can rebound during the postseason, but Miller has a lot to prove to Fantasy owners heading into 2011-12. Go into next season with Miller as a low-end Fantasy option, and he's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller has been dealing with a sore ankle and thumb, but was able to take the court for Game 1 against Philadelphia on Saturday. Coach Erik Spoelstra said he was thinking about the big picture at the end of the regular season as he rested Miller in the season finale. The rest didn't help Miller much as he missed all three of his shots from the field in Game 1. His only positive statistic was one rebound, but he saw just three minutes of court time.
Analysis: Miller missed the beginning of the year with his thumb injury and has never really got going in Miami. Spoelstra wants him as close to 100 percent as possible, but when push comes to shove, Miller won't be a big factor in Miami's playoff run. He'll hit an occasional 3-pointer, but doesn't bring a whole lot to the Fantasy table. For that reason, Miller is a marginal Fantasy option.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller, who sat out of Wednesday's season finale against the Raptors with a pair of injuries, was pushing coach Erik Spoelstra to play beforehand. The Sun-Sentinel reports that he repeatedly tried suiting up, but the coach was more focused on getting him healthy for Game 1 of the playoffs on Saturday against Philadelphia. I told him after shootaround that hes not playing. I told him on the bus. And he was trying to get his ankles taped, Spoelstra said. His ankle is still a little bit sore, his thumb is a little bit sore, he said. But its a big-picture mentality right now.
Analysis: Miller has been banged up all season, and he's underwhelmed the Heat roster after signing a contract making him the highest paid member of the team outside of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh. We are not surprised to see coach Spoelstra resting Miller before the postseason, though we don't see him impacting the game very much once he's back on the floor. He has some value in deeper formats when playing well, but Miller has been too inconsistent to trust on a regular basis.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Heat guard Mike Miller, who returned Monday at Atlanta after spraining his left thumb in the first half of Sunday's 100-77 victory over the Celtics, then re-injured the thumb in the second period against the Hawks and went to the bench. But he returned in the third quarter, only to turn his left ankle. "This is the most frustrated I've been in my entire life," Miller said.
Analysis: Even if Miller is able to play Wednesday against the Raptors he would have minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues. Ignore him for the rest of the regular season, and he's probably not worth using in most Fantasy playoff formats.
News: After leaving Sunday;s game early with a sprained thumb, he played in Monday's game against the Hawks with a brace on the injured area. Miller got in the game late in the first quarter, but he soon favored the thumb and missed a big chunk of the game. He would return eventually in the third, before limping off with an apparent ankle issue. Miller would not play the rest of the way, failing to score in 12 minutes of playing time despite a pair of shot attempts. He did pull down a rebound and dish out an assist in the win.
Analysis: Miller never really looked comfortable during the game, though we didn't initially expect him to play after suffering the injury a day earlier. We wouldn't be surprised to see him rested for the season finale against the Raptors on Wednesday, especially with the playoffs looming and a very capable James Jones healthy. Fantasy owners should monitor his health moving forward, though there has been no injury reported for Miller following the rough night. When healthy, he is just a marginal option in all formats because of his inconsistent play.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said guard Mike Miller is cleared to play for Monday's game at Atlanta. Miller left Sunday's game against Boston with a sprained thumb.
Analysis: Even though Miller is cleared to play he remains a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues. Miller has been a disappointment this season in his first year with the Heat, and we don't expect him to all of the sudden turn things around in the final two games Monday against the Hawks and Wednesday at Toronto. Hopefully he can play well in the playoffs, but it's hard to count on Miller in any format.
News: After just seven minutes of playing time Sunday against the Celtics, Heat guard Mike Miller left with a sprained thumb injury. He did not return. The swingman finished with three points and two rebounds before suffering the injury. Miller's status remains uncertain for Monday's game against the Hawks, though ESPN reports he did travel with the team and he's expected to be re-evaluated before the game.
Analysis: Miller had a broken thumb on his shooting hand in the preseason that forced him to miss a big chunk of the year, but this new injury is on the other thumb. Still, his role on the team is as a jump-shooter, so you never know how serious these issues really are. The Heat has just a pair of game left before the playoffs, so we won't be surprised to see them rest their highest-paid player outside of the "big three." Fantasy owners should eye the situation in the next 24 hours to see if he can get on the floor in Atlanta. If so, Miller remains a marginal option in all formats for his inconsistent shooting this season.
News: The Palm Beach Post reports that Heat guard Dwyane Wade is considered doubtful for Wednesday's game against Milwaukee because of a thigh injury. Wade, who did not take part in shootaround Wednesday, missed practice Monday and Tuesday after he was injured during Sunday's game at New Jersey. Coach Erik Spoelstra said he hadnt decided which reserve he would start in Wades place, but Mike Miller is the most likely option. Otherwise the Heat could go with James Jones.
Analysis: Miller is worth a look in deep daily leagues since the Heat could give him extra shot attempts to help his game heading into the playoffs. Miller has struggled this season, but the chance to start against the Bucks with Wade out could be just what he needs.
News: After missing the previous three games with a strained knee, Heat guard Mike Miller was back on the court for Sunday's 108-94 win over the Nets. Miller finished with four points in his return, on 2 of 6 shooting from the field. He did miss on both of his 3-point attempts but was able to chip in with five rebounds and a steal while logging 21 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Miller was able to get back on the court on Sunday and showed no ill-effects from the knee injury that had kept him sidelined for three games. Still, his return to the lineup doesn't do much for Fantasy owners at this point in the season. Miller has underachieved during his first year in Miami and entered Sunday's contest averaging just 5.7 points and 4.5 rebounds on the season. Fantasy owners can continue to ignore the veteran in the majority of formats heading into Week 24 (April 4-13).
News: The Sun-Sentinel reports that Heat G Mike Miller (knee) is expected to return to action on Sunday in New Jersey, pending final pregame approval. Miller missed three consecutive games with a bruised and strained left knee. "I want to play," he said. "It depends what they say, but it's what I'm planning."
Analysis: Fantasy owners will not be clamoring to get Miller back in their active Fantasy lineups. He has averaged just 4.1 points and 3.0 rebounds over his last seven appearances and has been a non-factor in Fantasy leagues for much of the season.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller missed another game for the Heat as he continues to deal with a strained knee. He took part in some light shooting, but is not ready to return to action.
Analysis: Miller is a sharpshooter, but is only averaging 5.7 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Heat. He's also only played in 36 games because of injuries, which makes him a low-end Fantasy option. At this stage of the season, Fantasy owners should look elsewhere for a more reliable option.
News: The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Heat guard Mike Miller is out again Friday night against the Timberwolves. He only did some light shooting at shootaround as he deals with a strained knee. Miller has missed the past two games with the knee injury.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should keep Miller reserved, and hopefully he can return soon. When healthy, Miller is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues.
News:The Palm Beach Post reports that Heat reserve guard Mike Miller will not play Wednesday against the Wizards as he's still nursing his knee issue. While the injury will keep him out Wednesday, he was relieved the issue wasn't more serious than originally thought. Its a lot better than we thought it was, Miller said. A lot better. I was worried before the MRI.
Analysis: Miller should be able to get over the knee injury sooner than later, but his status for Friday's game in Minnesota is yet to be determined. He's gone through several injuries this season, including a wrist issue, head injury, sinus infection and now the knee. Fantasy owners should monitor the situation in the coming days, though Miller remains a low-end option in the majority of leagues at best because of his inconsistent [play.
News:The Palm Beach Post reports that Heat reserve guard Mike Miller, who missed Tuesday's game because of a knee injury, is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Wizards. Miller injured his knee Sunday against Houston, and he thought it was much more serious than an MRI revealed. Its a lot better than we thought it was, Miller said. A lot better. I was worried before the MRI.
Analysis: Miller's knee issue does not appear to be a serious one, but the shooter has dealt with more injuries this year than in any of his previous 10 seasons in the NBA. He's dealt with a wrist issue, head injury, sinus infection and now the knee. Coach Erik Spoelstra calls his current injury a bruise and sprain. Fantasy owners should monitor the situation before Wednesday's tip, just in case he can get on the floor. When healthy, Miller is just a low-end option in the majority of formats because of his inconsistent scoring.
News: The Palm Beach Post reports that Heat reserve guard Mike Miller is out for Tuesday night's game at Cleveland due to bruised knee. Miller injured his knee Sunday against Houston.
Analysis: Miller has struggled this season, and he has yet to break out of his slump. He's also suffered numerous injuries this year (thumb, concussion and now knee). Keep an eye on his progress, but don't plan on using him in the majority of leagues even when healthy.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller suffered a bruised left knee during Sunday's 125-119 win over the Rockets. Miller sustained the injury in the second half of the contest and briefly left the game, although he was back on the bench for most of the fourth quarter. Miller finished with four points in the victory on 2 of 4 shooting from the field while logging 23 minutes.
Analysis: Miller's injury does not appear to be too serious, although it does bear monitoring moving forward. Still, the veteran's contributions this season have been minimal at best, which has made it hard to keep Miller active in most formats. Continue to leave him on the bench in the majority of leagues heading into Fantasy Week 23 (March 28-April 3).
News: With Mario Chalmers expected to be sidelined the next two weeks with a sprained knee, coach Erik Spolestra told the Miami Herald that Heat guard Mike Miller will initiate the offense more. "Mike did well in the Atlanta game," Spoelstra said. "The game was out of the balance, but he initiated most of the offense for us in the fourth quarter." Miller finished with four points, four rebounds and four assists in last Friday's game against the Hawks. He is averaging 4.3 points and 3.8 rebounds through 10 games in March.
Analysis: There is no doubt Miller has not been the player the Heat and many Fantasy owners thought he would be so far this season, but it hasn't all been Miller's fault. Some of his lack of production can be blamed on the role he has been asked to play this season, which has been pretty much limited to being a spot-up shooter. To Miller's credit he hasn't complained, despite being accustomed to having the ball more in his hands. According to Spolestra that will change now, although with Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh still dominating touches, no one knows how much. Certainly not enough to alter Miller's Fantasy value this late in the season. Continue to view him as nothing more than a low-end Fantasy option over these last few weeks.
News: Heat swingman Mike Miller had been amidst some media scrutiny in South Florida in the days leading to Thursday's game against the Lakers for his poor shooting in big games. He did his best to silence the doubters in the 94-88 statement win for Miami, when Miller scored 12 points off of the bench. He was the team's spark offensively early along with Chris Bosh, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and pulling down some scrappy rebounds in the process. Miller finished the night with seven rebounds to go along with the 12 points on 4 of 6 shooting from the floor in 16 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Miller looked like a different player in the big win over the two-time defending champions, as he followed his shots and even scored on an and-1 after one of his four offensive rebounds. At that point Miller led the team with 11 points in the first half. He looked like the free agent Miami sought out to compliment the "big three." Still, it was just one game and Fantasy owners want to see if the streaky veteran can sustain the solid level of play over several games. But when he plays like this, Miller deserves some low-end Fantasy consideration regardless of format.
News: Heat swingman Mike Miller did not hit a single shot from the field in Sunday's one-point loss to the Bulls, going 0 for 5 -- including 0 for 4 from beyond the arc. He finished with a single point and is averaging just 7.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in his last four appearances.
Analysis: Miller has failed to carve himself out a niche role as a perimeter scorer and is only averaging around five shots per game. He cannot be trusted in Fantasy and is merely a stopgap measure for deeper category leagues for what he can offer from beyond the arc.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller was back in action for Miami during Sunday's 91-86 loss to the Knicks. Miller, who had missed four straight games after taking multiple shots to head and an ear infection, scored 10 points against New York on 3 of 6 shooting from the field. He went 3 of 5 from downtown and also added four rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Miller was finally able to get back on the court on Sunday -- something he has had problems doing this season. He has only appeared in 23 games this year and has had a hard time meshing with the Heat's Big Three. Miller averaged just 8.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in his previous six appearances and should only be active in deeper formats heading into Fantasy Week 19 (Feb. 28-March 6).
News: The Miami Herald reports Heat F Mike Miller (illness, head) was cleared to play in Sunday night's game against the Knicks. Miller took shots to the head in three consecutive games prior to the All-Star break and also dealt with an ear infection.
Analysis: Miller averaged just 8.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in his previous six appearances. He has appeal in deeper category leagues for what he can offer as a 3-point shooter, but injuries have severely limited his Fantasy appeal to date. He should be left to deeper formats at this stage.
News: For the fourth straight game, Heat forward Mike Miller will miss Friday's tilt with the Wizards because of an ear infection. Coach Erik Spoelstra has said he's improving with the infection and he may return for Sunday's game against the Knicks after Miller took some serious shots to the head just before the All-Star break.
Analysis: Miller had an X-ray and CT scan after being elbowed in the head on Feb. 15 at Indiana. It was the third game in a five-day span where Miller took a hit. He was tested for a concussion after getting hit in the head at Detroit and checked again following a hard screen in the game against Boston. Miller is averaging 5.9 points -- less than half his career average (13.4) -- since joining the Heat in the offseason. Continue to monitor Miller's status and hope he can return soon. When healthy, Miller is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues since he has struggled to adjust to his move to Miami this season.
News: Heat forward Mike Miller will miss the matchup against Chicago because of an ear infection, sidelining him for a third straight game. Coach Erik Spoelstra says Miller was improving, but will miss Thursday's game because the condition prevents him from flying. He already missed back-to-back games against Toronto and Sacramento after jarring collisions. Miller had an X-ray and CT scan after being elbowed in the head on Feb. 15 at Indiana. It was the third game in a five-day span where Miller took a hit. He was tested for a concussion after getting hit in the head at Detroit and checked again following a hard screen in the game against Boston. Analysis: Miller is averaging 5.9 points -- less than half his career average (13.4) -- since joining the Heat in the offseason. Continue to monitor Miller's status and hope he can return soon. When healthy, Miller is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues since he has struggled to adjust to his move to Miami this season.
News: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Heat guard Mike Miller (ear infection) will not travel to Chicago for Thursday's game against the Bulls. Miller also missed Tuesday's game against Sacramento. He expects to be able to return for Friday's game against Washington.
Analysis: Continue to monitor Miller's status and hope he can return soon. When healthy, Miller is a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues since he has struggled to adjust to his move to Miami this season.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller couldl not play in Tuesday's game against the Kings. Miller, who sustained hits to the head in three recent games, was back practicing Monday but the team kept him out because of a cold and also precautionary reasons.
Analysis: Miller has been hit in the head three straight contests leading up to the All-Star break. The 31-year-old does have a history with concussions and has missed eight games in his career because of lingering symptoms. However, the team said he is fine and decided to hold him out more for his cold than his head. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status moving forward. Miller can be considered a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller continues to rest at home after tests revealed he did not sustain a concussion in last Tuesday's game against the Pacers. Miller was elbowed just above his right eye against Indiana and was taken to the hospital for observation. Coach Erik Spoelstra said Miller flew back home on Wednesday after tests conducted on the swingman indicated he did not have a concussion. "He just had some tests, he stayed at the hotel, flew back (Wednesday) morning," Spoelstra told the Sun Sentinel. "We had Ray Jaffet go with him. (Miller) probably would've probably tried to hitchhike to play in this game."
Analysis: Miller has been hit in the head three straight contests leading up to the All-Star break. The 31-year-old does have a history with concussions and has missed eight games in his career because of lingering symptoms. He wears a mouthpiece to lessen the impact of blows and hopefully will be healthy for the start of the second half. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status before setting lineups for Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 21-27). Miller can be considered a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller does not have a concussion, reports Toronto's play by play announcer, though he won't play on Wednesday against the Raptors. In fact, Miller was sent back to Miami to rest over the All-Star break.
Analysis: Miller doesn't sound injured as much as he just sounds like he needs an overall break and the All-Star break could not come soon enough. After taking blows to the head in three straight contests, Miller is a little gun shy at the moment. Miller can be considered a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller was taken to a local hospital for a concussion test following Tuesday's 110-103 win over the Pacers. Miller took an elbow from Jeff Foster just above his right eye, which left him with a contusion. He fouled Indiana's Dahntay Jones with 34.2 seconds left in the period, left the game and did not return. A Heat spokesman said Miller was taken to a hospital for testing and will not play Wednesday at Toronto. He left the arena in a wheelchair.
Analysis: Miller has now taken a blow to the head in three straight games and now will spend the night in Indiana because of it. He took a knock to the head on Friday against the Pistons, a hard elbow to the head from Kevin Garnett and now the latest from Foster. He will not play in Wednesday's contest at Toronto and could miss an extended amount of time if he in fact has a concussion. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller left Tuesday's contest against the Pacers after taking an elbow to the eye in the third quarter. Miller took an elbow just above his right eye from Jeff Foster on a rebound attempt. He suffered a contusion above his right eye and did not return. Miller did not score in the contest but finished with three rebounds and a steal prior to leaving.
Analysis: Miller has now taken a blow to the head in three straight games, which is starting to raise some serious concerns. Miller was knocked in the head on Friday against the Pistons, a took hard elbow from Kevin Garnett on Sunday and now another from Foster. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status moving forward, but with the Heat wrapping up the first half of the season on Wednesday the team may just sit him out. Miller can be considered a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller not only played more minutes than normal in Friday's blowout win over the Pistons, but he took advantage of the extra time with his second-best scoring game of the season. He shot 6 of 9 from the floor, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc on his way to 16 points. Miller also pulled down three rebounds and contributed two assists to go along with a steal in 30 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Miller doesn't have the playing time luxuries he had in Washington or Memphis as a starter, but he's taken advantage of the rare opportunities to play starter minutes with Miami. When playing 30 or more minutes, Miller has scored 64 points in four games. While he won't see that much time on most nights, it's noteworthy for owners who are stashing him and waiting for an opportunity to utilize the former Florida Gator. When the team is dealing with an injury or is facing a clearly inferior opponent, Miller could be a solid source of points and rebounds like he was Friday. However, on most night's he is just a low-end option across the board.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller came into Friday's game against the Bobcats shooting 12 of 30 from the floor over his last five games. He turned it around in the victory, shooting a perfect 4 of 4 from the floor, three of which came from beyond the arc. Miller chipped in a pair of rebounds in 19 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Miller has been up-and-down since returning to the lineup on December 20, after recovering from thumb surgery in the preseason. His averages are up to 5 points per game to go along with 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists. While the numbers are nothing to stare at, Miller will continue to get better as he plays more games. Utilize him only as a low-end Fantasy option for now, best suited for deeper category-based leagues.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller registered 11 rebounds but just five points in the Heat's 104-100 victory over Orlando on Thursday night. Miller made only 2 of 3 shots, including his lone 3-point attempt, to finish with his lowest scoring output in his last four games. Miller has been dealing with soreness throughout his body recently and played just 20 minutes -- his lowest total in his last six games.
Analysis: Miller's scoring has become woefully inconsistent since he started receiving extended minutes. In the eight games he has played more than 20 minutes, Miller has scored in double figures only three times and is averaging just 6.6 points in his last five games. His Fantasy value has taken a hit and he has not attempted more than six shots in any of his previous three outings. Consider him a mid-range option in deeper Fantasy leagues for now.
News: Heat forward Mike Miller is dealing with some bumps and bruises. Miller, who missed the first two months of the season with a broken thumb, is playing with just about a bruised everything and will wear extra padding moving forward. Most of his bumps and bruises can be attributed to his reckless style of play, however, the veteran guard said he does not know another way to play the game. "That's the only way I can play," he said. Coach Erik Spoelstra said the team will do whatever it takes to get Miller and his scrappiness on the court and keep him on the court. "We're going to pad him like a football player from now on," Spoelstra said.
Analysis: While Miller's scoring has been a bit inconsistent since he started seeing extended minutes in the Heat's rotation, his rebounding numbers have been very impressive. Miller is averaging 9.0 rebounds over his last five contests and has rebounded in double figures three times over that span. Still, until he levels off his scoring numbers, Miller will continue to have limited Fantasy value moving forward. He should only be starting in the deeper leagues at this point.
News: With Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh both healthy and playing again for Miami on Sunday afternoon at Oklahoma City, Mike Miller's numbers took a noticeable hit. Coming off a game in which he scored 12 points with 10 rebounds and three assists on Jan. 28 against Detroit, a game which both Wade and Bosh missed, Miller managed just six points, eight rebounds and two assists. He played 29 minutes.
Analysis: Miller has had a pair of big performances over his last four games. Not coincidentally, both games have come in games where Wade was sidelined due to injury. His shot attempts have been cut in half with Wade healthy and, outside of some decent rebounding and 3-point shooting, his numbers have been pretty useless in Fantasy. These performances have gone to show that he is capable of taking on a more significant role coming off his injury, but we suggest sitting him in Fantasy until he can prove productive when the team's more prominent trio is at full strength.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller bruised his knee and twisted an ankle during Friday's win over Detroit, reports ESPN.com. Miller is also apparently dealing with soreness in his surgically repaired thumb and was seen with a noticeable limp Friday as well. All that said, Miller still played 42 minutes and scored 12 points.
Analysis: Miller scored 32 points with 10 rebounds and hit six 3-pointers on Jan. 22 against Toronto. He failed to score in the next game over 21 minutes. He was back to 12 points and 10 boards on Friday, but missed all six 3-pointers he attempted. He's clearly not 100 percent healthy and is playing through the injuries. He could have seen a nice boost with all the injuries Miami is dealing with but they seem healthy again and Miller is still just a mediocre option in deeper formats.
News: One night after failing to score and less than a week after his season-high 32 point outburst, Miami guard Mike Miller found himself in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Pistons because of Dwyane Wade's sprained wrist. Miller made the most of his opportunity despite missing some time with a leg injury, pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds in the first half alone. Though he didn't secure another board all night, he scored 12 points on 4 of 12 shooting, including a dreadful 0 of 6 from beyond the arc. Miller added three assists and a steal in 42 minutes of action.
Analysis: Miller was helped off the court when he hurt his leg in the second quarter, but he returned to play most of the second half (with a visible limp). He was limited in the final two quarters, and he settled for several three-pointers because of his lack of mobility, but had no lift in his legs. The double-double was just his second of the season, after missing most of the year thus far due to a broken thumb suffered in the preseason. Miller saw a season-high in minutes, which will become the norm with Wade out, though his injury is not serious. Because of his inconsistent play and floor time, consider Miller to be a low-end Fantasy option going forward.
News: After posting a season-high 32 points in his last game, Miami guard Mike Miller faltered in New York at Madison Square Garden. Miller took three shots -- two from downtown -- but would miss them all. He would finish with zero points, one block, one assist and six rebounds. Miller connected on 6 of his 11 3-point attempts in that season high game, but couldn't buy a bucket on Thursday. The Heat would lose its fourth game in five tries, as New York won the outing 93-88. Over his last five games Miller is averaging 8.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest. Two of those games saw the veteran get shutout in scoring.
Analysis: Miller said his teammates found him in that last game, so apparently they forgot he was on the court on Thursday. Just when Fantasy owners thought that Miller might be getting on track he took a few steps back. Granted he did start his last game with Dwyane Wade out, but No. 3 returned on Thursday. When Miller is on, he can be one of the best 3-point shooters in the league. Fantasy owners should continue to view him as a low-end guard option in deeper category-based leagues. For every solid outing he has, Miller will likely put up a stinker like this one.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller tallied a season-high 32 points in the Heat's 120-103 rout of Toronto on Saturday night. Miller had a terrific night, connecting on 6 of 11 attempts from 3-point range and 12-20 overall as he recorded his 19th career 30-point game. His 22 second-quarter points were the most ever in a second quarter by a Miami player. "I got it going a little bit," he said. "Which is fun. ... Obviously, I've shot a lot of basketballs in my day, and I always say confidence ain't going to be an issue. I'm going to miss. I'm going to make. But as long as you stick with it, you're getting opportunities. Guys found me in the second quarter, I got some opportunities, and I made them." Miller added 10 rebounds to complete his first double-double of the season and 44th of his career.
Analysis: Miller finally turned in the performance the Heat and Fantasy owners were eagerly anticipating. Miller, who had totaled 15 points all season entering the game, got his first start as a member of the Heat with Dwyane Wade forced out with a migraine. In his record-setting second quarter, Miller made 8 of 12 shots, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range to score more points in the second period than any other player in the team's 23-year history. It was only a matter of time for Miller to finally perk up and he has now played more than 30 minutes in two of his last four games. Fantasy owners should utilize him in deeper leagues and category-based formats after his 3-point outing Saturday eclipsed his total treys for the season (6-2).
News: The Miami Herald reports that Heat guard Mike Miller hopes to see big minutes in Saturday's game against Toronto with Chris Bosh out and Dwyane Wade a question mark to play with an illness. "Let's hope supper is served," Miller quipped about playing time.
Analysis: Miller could sure use that playing time. He's averaging just 18 minutes per game in his last four contests and just over 12 minutes per game for the year. He's shown some rebounding ability and definitely can still hit the three. If he starts getting minutes, he could be a big help to Fantasy owners in deeper leagues. Still, that actually has to happen first.
News: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Friday that Heat guard Mike Miller needs to do more to earn playing time. He played a season-high 33 minutes Thursday at Denver with LeBron James (ankle) out, but James is expected to return Saturday at Chicago. Miller finished with four points, eight rebounds and eight assists, but he made just 2 of 7 shots. He just needs more game time, coach Erik Spoelstra said. And you could tell hes not in the same rhythm that he was in the preseason even, when he went through the training camp and was in great game condition. Hes doing everything possible outside the games to prepare himself, but until you actually get out there, its a different story.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should be patient with Miller because the Heat didn't sign him to sit on the bench. He will likely be worked back into the rotation slowly after starting the season out with a thumb injury. For now, consider Miller a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of leagues and hope his shot starts to fall because when that happens the consistent minutes will follow.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller saw a season-high 33 minutes on Thursday against Denver, but didn't do much with his playing time. With LeBron James sidelined, more time opened up for Miller and other Heat players. Miller tossed up just seven shots, making two of them. Hes too good of a shooter to pass up some of those looks, coach Erik Spoelstra told the Palm Beach Post. He missed his lone 3-pointer and finished the game with four points. Miller did grab a season-high eight rebounds and eight assists. The game would not be a pretty one as Miami got blown out by Denver, 130-102.
Analysis: Miller was brought to Miami to spread defenses and shoot the 3-ball. He's not doing either as he is still coming back from his preseason thumb injury. It's unclear if that thumb is still bothering him, but one thing is for sure, he has to start pulling the trigger if he wants to get out of this slump and into a groove. Fantasy owners in deeper formats should remain patient, like you have been most of the season, for him to warm up. When healthy and on, Miller is a good source of 3-pointers. But until that happens it's best to keep him on your bench.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller again was reduced to limited action in Tuesday's 101-89 win over the Bucks. Miller saw just nine minutes off the bench in victory and missed the lone shot he took from the floor. He failed to score in the contest and has now scored a combined two points over the last three games he has played in. Probably what Mike needs more than anything is game time, coach Erik Spolestra said.
Analysis: Coach Spolestra said he will continue to search for minutes for Miller, but has not been able too find much playing time for the veteran thus far. Part of the problem is with the Heat playing so well, Spolestra doesn't want to mess with the rotation that has been getting the job done. Miller has appeared in just four games this season after breaking his thumb in the preseason and will likely play a role similar to James Jones once he is able to break the rotation. He will have some value in deeper leagues for his ability to shot the 3-ball, but should remain reserved for the time being.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller did not see the court in Saturday's 114-107 win over the Warriors. Miller has played a combined nine minutes over his last four contests. He is averaging just 0.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in four games this season.
Analysis: Coach Eric Spolestra said last week he will slowly work Miller back into the rotation and and it could take as long as three weeks for that too happen. Part of the problem is with the Heat playing so well, Spolestra doesn't want to mess with the rotation that has been getting the job done. Miller has appeared in just four games this season after breaking his thumb in the preseason and will likely play a role similar to James Jones once he is able to break the rotation. He will have some value in deeper leagues for his ability to shot the 3-ball, but should remain reserved heading into Fantasy Week 11 (Jan. 3-11).
News: It took him 23 minutes in two games, but Miami guard Mike Miller has his first points of the year. He missed all three of his field-goal attempts in Thursday's 95-83 win over Phoenix, but did convert 1 of his 2 foul shots. Miller added five rebounds in his 19 minutes on the court. He made his debut on Monday as he sat out the first 29 games of the season recovering from a broken thumb.
Analysis: Miller was brought in to Miami to be a 3-point specialist and be a contributor off the bench. With him being injured up to now, the Heat relied on James Jones for what would have been Miller's role. Fantasy owners should monitor Miller to see how he fits into Miami's system before inserting him in any lineups. Miller has averaged 13.7 points and 3.9 assists over his career, so he does have some Fantasy value in deeper formats. Until he starts producing, he can be kept on the bench in all leagues.
News: Heat guard Mike Miller made his long awaited season debut in Monday's 98-96 loss to the Mavericks. Miller, who broke his thumb in the preseason, entered the game with with 3:52 left in the half, but failed to score in the defeat. He missed all four of his shots, all from beyond the 3-point arc, but grabbed three rebounds in the contest. Miller did not play in the second half.
Analysis: Miller has averaged 13.7 points and 3.9 assists over his career and was brought on for his outside shooting ability. It will likely take some time for Miller to figure out his role with Miami, so Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the situation during his week or so back. Once Miller gets used to playing with the team, he'll be worthy of use in category leagues for his 3-point shooting. Keep him reserved until that happens, however.
News: The Palm Beach Post reports that Mike Miller could make his season debut as soon as Monday's game against Dallas. Coach Erik Spelstra did not rule him out following Monday's morning shootaround. Spoelstra later told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that Miller will suit up but "probably won't play" against the Mavericks. That said, he also hinted that Mario Chalmers is under the weather and could force Miller into action.
Analysis: One of the issues that could be working against Miller is the team's current 12-game winning streak. The Heat have found a groove and are not likely to upset their current rotation with a new element. Miller has averaged 13.7 points and 3.9 assists over his career. When Miller returns, he'll give Miami an outside shooter to pair with James Jones -- but they could battle for minutes. That is a situation to monitor during his first week or so back. Once Miller figures out his role with the team, he'll be worthy of use in category leagues for his 3-point shooting. Keep him reserved until that happens, however.
News: According to the Palm Beach Post, Miami coach Erik Spoelstra wants guard Mike Miller to go through a full practice before he returns to the court. The next practice isn't until Wednesday. That would make Miller's season debut at Phoenix. Miller hasn't played yet this season after breaking his thumb in the preseason.
Analysis: Miller averages 13.7 points and 3.9 assists over his career. Things could change and Miller could return earlier than that, but Fantasy owners won't want to just throw Miller back into their lineups without testing the waters first. When Miller returns, he'll give Miami an outside shooter to pair with James Jones -- but they could battle for minutes. That is a situation to monitor during his first week or so back. Once Miller figures out his role with the team, he'll be worth using as a low-end Fantasy guard. Keep tabs on him heading into Week 9 (Dec. 20-26).
News: Heat forward Mike Miller, who has yet to play a game this season after breaking his thumb in the preseason, has been cleared to play. Miller participated in the team's shoot around on Friday and said he is very close to making his season debut. "Whenever they put me in, I'm ready," Miller said. "Could be tonight, could be tomorrow. We'll see what happens." Miller is averaging 13.7 points and 3.9 assists over his career.
Analysis: Miller's return could come in a matter of days as coach Eric Spolstra said Miller wouldn't need much practice time. The Heat signed the former sixth-man award winner in July, and he will give them a top outside shooter when he gets on the court. The team will likely use him at shooting guard, however, it might take him some time to grow into his role in Miami's rotation. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the situation moving forward to see when he will make his debut. The Heat have three tough matchups against the Mavericks, Suns and Lakers coming up in Week 9 (Dec. 20-26), so owners may want to keep Miller stashed for the upcoming scoring period. Expect him to serve as a low-end Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Heat SG Mike Miller took part in the team's shootaround Friday and said afterward he was cleared for contact. He's still waiting for game clearance, according to the Miami Herald. He reportedly feels like he can play now, but coach Erik Spoelstra said he might need a few workouts first.
Analysis: Miller's return could come within the next couple weeks, so if you're looking for some cheap 3-point shooting, now would be the time to take a flier on him off the waiver wire. He has been a viable source of rebounds and assists in the past also, though he might not contribute as many of those in a reduced role with the Heat. Expect him to serve as a low-end Fantasy guard when healthy.
News: Heat SG Mike Miller, who is working his way back from surgery to repair a broken thumb and ligament damage, did some shooting for the first time in public Tuesday, according to NBA.com. He was wearing a light splint on the thumb. The team is aiming for January, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, though Miller has previously said he hopes to return around Christmas.
Analysis: Miller's timetable is probably a little too optimistic, but if he's already able to start shooting, he's making good time. He's a lights out 3-point shooter and has been a decent rebounder in the past, so he could have some low-end Fantasy appeal in a supporting role for the Heat.
News: The Palm Beach Post reports that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said on Monday that injured swingman Mike Miller (thumb) has been catching soft passes with both hands. However, he suggested that Miller's return target of Christmas may not be the same as the team's doctors.
Analysis: Miller is likely looking at a return in early 2011. When he does return, the Heat envision him playing much of the same role that James Jones is currently playing as an outside shooter to stretch the floor. Jones is currently among the league leaders in 3-point shooting. Miller should be stashed in deeper formats as a result -- especially in category leagues.
News: According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Miami guard Mike Miller is hoping to push his mid-January return date to around Christmas. Miller had surgery in October to repair ligament damage in his thumb. Thats my timetable, he said, with no one from the team saying there has been any change. Miller was injured when his right thumb got tangled up in a teammate's practice jersey during a post drill.
Analysis: Miller hopes to return early, but with no team official saying anything, he return date should still be considered mid-January. The Heat would love to get him back early, but as for Fantasy owners Miller won't contribute on a big scale. Miller averaged 9.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists in five preseason games for Miami and can probably be expected to put up those numbers once he returns. Owners should keep him stashed on the bench if you have room, otherwise leave him on waivers until he's able to take the court. His value lies more in Rotisserie leagues than head-to-head formats.
News: Miami guard Mike Miller had surgery Friday to repair a broken thumb and ligament damage, injuries sustained in a freak accident during practice two days earlier, and the team said he likely will be sidelined until January. Miller was injured Wednesday when his right thumb got snarled in a teammate's practice jersey during a post drill. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Miller texted him a bizarre idea - tape up the thumb, shoot it with a painkiller and try to play through the pain. It took Spoelstra 20 minutes to talk Miller out of the idea. Instead, a 45-minute surgery was the course of action. Miller will be shifted from a cast to a brace sometime next month."It's good to finally have resolution about his injury and now a course of action to make it better," Spoelstra said. "It's unfortunate. I feel very bad for Mike. I know how badly he wanted to get this season started in the right way. He's down right now ... but it's an unfortunate reality of our profession."
Analysis: Miami signed Miller in the offseason to be the team's sixth man and role player to their Big Three. In five preseason games, Miller was averaging 9.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest. He's an excellent 3-point shooter, which is something Fantasy owners like in Rotisserie leagues. Unfortunately this injury will keep him sidelined for half the season, which severely hurts his Fantasy value. He's worth drafting in the last round in deeper leagues, if you can afford to stash him. Otherwise leave him on the waiver wire until his return is closer.
News: According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Heat SG Mike Miller, who sprained his ankle earlier this week, is out with a "potentially serious" thumb injury he suffered in practice Wednesday. He'll visit with a hand specialist later in the day.
Analysis: Miller, expected to be the team's sixth man this season, has been starting at shooting guard much of the preseason with Dwyane Wade battling a hamstring injury. He's an excellent 3-point shooter and a decent source of points, rebounds and assists when he gets significant minutes, but this injury has the potential to sideline him into the regular season. He's still worth a late-round pick, but you might have to stash him at first.
News: Miami SG Mike Miller left Monday's preseason game with a sprained left ankle, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Miller limped off the court in the second quarter and returned in the third before leaving for good. He played 25 minutes and shot 2 for 8 from the field to score seven points. He went 2 for 7 from 3-point range and added five rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: Miller is dropping 10 points per game and hitting on 42 percent of his 3-point attempts this preseason. Miller is expected to see more open looks than he has at any point in his NBA career this season, playing off Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh. He'll be a great 3-point threat as a result and a player to own in most category-based leagues.
News: Heat G Mike Miller played 16 minutes in his first preseason game with Miami against Detroit. He finished the game with just six points and four assists. Miller entered the game early in the first quarter when Dwyane Wade left the game with a strained hamstring.
Analysis: Miller is expected to see more open looks than he has at any point in his NBA career this season, playing off Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh. He'll be a great 3-point threat as a result and a player to own in most category-based leagues. Don't read too much into the veteran's preseason numbers.
News:Mike Miller signed his long-awaited five-year contract with the Heat on Thursday, becoming the latest player to take less money than he could have made elsewhere to play for Miami. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem all did the same in recent days, all with eyes on winning a championship. "It's official!" Miller wrote on Twitter, thanking the Heat, owner Micky Arison and team president Pat Riley for making it happen.
Analysis: Miller is likely to play the sixth man role off the bench for a Miami team that is very top heavy, but has little depth. He should see around 25-30 minutes off the bench and will lead the second whenever the new trio of superstars needs a breather. Expect Miller, an excellent three-point shooter, to be useful as a low-end starter in standard formats on an inconsistent basis.
News:Mike Miller arrived in South Florida on Wednesday and told Memphis radio station WHBQ that he would sign his five-year contract by his scheduled departure on Thursday. Miller agreed in principle to a deal late last week, and his agent Arn Tellem revealed Monday that the sharpshooter would be signing with Miami. "We're waiting on one thing ... we'll have it done," Miller told the radio station.

News:Mike Miller has made a decision to join the Heat -- something the team still hasn't formally announced. Miller's agent, Arn Tellem, wrote on his blog Monday that Miller talked with four teams, not including the Heat, but his future "hinged on LeBron's." LeBron James picked Miami, so Miller followed, and Tellem compared Miller to the Ringo Starr on this new Heat team of stars. "Mike welcomes the chance to be the Ringo in a hot combo that already includes LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh," Tellem said.

He should see around 25-30 minutes off the bench and will lead the second whenever the new trio of superstars needs a breather. Expect Miller, an excellent three-point shooter, to be useful as a low-end starter in standard formats on an inconsistent basis. There is a slight chance Wade or even James plays some point guard, which could get Miller starter minutes, too. The only true point guard on the Heat roster right now is Mario Chalmers, after all.
News: The Miami Heat have reached an agreement to sign free agent G/F Mike Miller, according to various reports. Miller will join LeBron James and Chris Bosh as the team's newest acquisitions.

News: After a mediocre start to the year in 2009-10, Wizards guard Mike Miller closes the season on a strong note. Miller averaged 13.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists in eight games in April. It raised his scoring average for the season to 10.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
Analysis: Miller has struggled the past two seasons with Washington and Minnesota, but he still can produce at a high level when given the right opportunity. We like Miller as a quality Fantasy option heading into 2010-11, and he's worth a late-round pick in all leagues. Hopefully he can start next season where this past year finished.
News: Washington G Mike Miller scored 17 points and hauled in a season-high 13 rebounds in a win over the Nets on Sunday. Miller shot 7 of 13 from the field while collecting three steals and three assists in 39 minutes. He has scored in double figures in six consecutive contests.
Analysis: With the Wizards suffering mass attrition during the season, Miller has stepped up over his last five games, averaging 17.4 points and 8.8 rebounds. As long as he continues to play at this pace, Miller makes for a quality Fantasy option in all formats, especially with the Wizards playing six games during Fantasy Week 24 (April 5-14).
News: Wizards G Mike Miller scored 15 points in a loss to the Bulls on Friday. Miller shot 6 of 14 from the field while adding seven assists and five rebounds in 42 minutes. He has scored in double figures in five straight games.
Analysis: Miller is playing some of his best basketball down the final stretch, averaging 16 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists over his last five games. With the Wizards depleted with injuries, Miller is filling in nicely and Fantasy owners should continue to start him while he is hot.
News: Wizards guard Mike Miller had a season-high 27 points Wednesday against New Orleans. He also added seven rebounds and two assists. Miller hadn't scored at least 20 points in a game since he got 25 against the Knicks on Jan. 30. Miller has just three 20-point games this season.
Analysis: Miller has helped pick up the slack for the Wizards, who are short-handed. In addition to Gilbert Arenas, suspended for the season in January, Josh Howard (torn ACL), Randy Foye (wrist injury) and Al Thornton (hip flexor) were out of the lineup. Miller is on a recent tear with four games in a row with double figures in points and two double-doubles in his past five games. Keep Miller active while he's playing at this level and all these players are out for the Wizards.
News: Wizards guard Mike Miller had 14 points, 12 rebounds and four assists Tuesday night at Houston. This is his second game with 12 rebounds in his past four outings, and he is averaging 11.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists in his past five games.
Analysis: Miller has played well with all the injuries in Washington. The Wizards are missing a host of players, led by star guard Gilbert Arenas, who is suspended for the season because of a gun charge that recently got him sentenced to 30 days in a halfway house and two years' probation. They're also missing Josh Howard, who has a torn ACL, Randy Foye, out for at least seven to 10 days with a wrist injury and Al Thornton who has a hip flexor. Keep Miller active while he's playing at this level and all these players are out for the Wizards. He should finish the season on a high note.
News: For the third consecutive game, Wizards G Mike Miller scored in double figures. Miller scored 15 points in a loss to the Bobcats on Tuesday. He shot 6 of 15 from the floor while adding four rebounds, four assists and three steals in 44 minutes. He has now scored in double figures in four of his last five games.
Analysis: Miller is averaging 12.2 points and 6.4 rebounds over his last five contests. With leading scorer Andray Blatche likely to see a suspension and possibly some reduced time, Miller will be depended on to increase production in the scoring department. As long as he is playing at his current level, he can be used as a No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Wizards G Mike Miller, who came into Wednesday's game against Milwaukee hitting an NBA-best 54.7 percent from 3-point range, went 1 of 2 from beyond the arc. He finished with three points, five rebounds and two assists and continues to struggle with his production. Miller is averaging just 7.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.0 assists in his past five games.
Analysis: Miller has not seen the expected boost in production many Fantasy owners were hoping for when the Wizards traded Caron Butler to Dallas and Antawn Jamison to Cleveland and then lost Josh Howard (knee) to injury. Miller is worth holding onto in deeper leagues as a reserve, but he's not worth starting in the majority of Fantasy leagues while he's playing at this level.
News: Washington G Mike Miller scored 12 points on 5 of 10 shooting Friday against the Knicks. Miller also added six rebounds and five assists in 38 minutes. It was the first time in his last five games that he has scored in double figures.
Analysis: Miller has struggled in his last five contests, averaging just 7.8 points during that span. Fortunately for him, he is still hauling in a decent amount of rebounds for a guard. Maybe he has come out of his slump and can return to the No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy guard that we know he is capable of being.
News: Wizards SG Mike Miller had 17 points and made all five of his 3-point shots on Wednesday against Minnesota. The Florida product also produced six rebounds and five assists. Miller, who has scored in double figures in six of his last eight games, is shooting 62.5 percent (15 of 24) from 3-point range in his last six games.
Analysis: Miller has always played the role of sharpshooter in his NBA career. It's why he is a 40.4 percent career shooter from downtown. Miller is shooting over 50 percent from 30-point range this season, when he has been healthy. He should get a lot of looks down the stretch as Washington is revamping its lineup for the future. Look for Miller to be a decent play in most Fantasy formats down the stretch.
News: Washington SG Mike Miller hit the first six shots he took on Tuesday but the Wizards still lost at Charlotte. Miller finished the game 8 for 10 from the field with three threes and he scored 19 points. Miller had a great all-around game as he added three assists, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
Analysis: Miller is giving Fantasy owners almost 16 points, 7.0 boards, 3.4 assists, 1.2 steals and almost three threes per night over his last five. He's finally healthy and playing at the level expected of him. Miller will enter the second half of the NBA season as a solid Fantasy option for use in any format once again.
News: Washington G Mike Miller scored nine points and added eight rebounds in 26 minutes of play as the Wizards defeated Orlando 92-91 on Friday. Miller, who found himself in foul trouble with five personal fouls, shot just 3 of 5 in those 26 minutes.
Analysis: Miller failed to reach double digits for the first time in his last four games. Over his last five games, Miller has averaged 13.2 points with 8.2 rebounds and three assists. Miller proves to be a decent source of threes and rebounds and can be used a No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy guard.
News: Washington G Mike Miller scored a season-high 25 points -- including 17 in the third quarter and seven 3-pointers as the Wizards beat the New York Knicks 106-96 Saturday. Miller, who missed 26 games due to injuries this season, had four 3-pointers late in the third quarter and early in the fourth as the Wizards took an 85-73 lead with 10:45 to play in the fourth quarter. "I'm going to pick my spots. It's me picking my spots," Miller said. "I decided to become a little more aggressive." Antawn Jamison admitted Miller often frustrates him, and he tells him so. "This is one guy who wants to move the ball, but we need you to really be aggressive," Jamison said. "He did a great job not thinking and going out there and shooting." Miller also recorded a season high with eight assists.
Analysis: With Miller back in the starting lineup, he is now assuming a larger role after being decimated with injuries earlier in the year. Keep close tabs on his progress as he could become a decent scorer and regular source of three pointers for your Fantasy squad in the near future as Saturday night showed that capability.
News:The Washington Post reports that Mike Miller has been inserted into the starting lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Lakers. He replaces DeShawn Stevenson.
Analysis: The Wizards were not getting much out of Stevenson at the two-guard spot, so this is no major surprise. Miller has not looked impressive since coming back from his shoulder and calf injuries, but the further he is removed from those injuries the more minutes and the bigger role he can take on. Keep close tabs on his progress as he could become a decent scorer and regular source of three pointers for your Fantasy squad in the near future.
News: Washington SG Mike Miller managed just eight points on Sunday against the Clippers. Miller played 33 minutes, his most since returning from shoulder and calf injuries four games back, but shot just 3 of 8 from the field and missed all four threes he took. He added six boards and three assists.
Analysis: Miller is averaging eight points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in the four games since his return. Coach Flip Saunders has said he's limiting his playing time in order to ease him back into full action and on Sunday he played 33 minutes, his most yet. That means he should be back to playing full games by Week 14 (Jan. 25-31) but until his numbers improve, he's probably not yet worth using in most formats.
News: The Washington Post reports the Wizards are hopeful for a strong second half now that Mike Miller has returned to form. Miller, who has missed time this season due to shoulder and calf injuries, was feeling better Tuesday, the day after scoring 13 points in about 24 minutes in the win over Portland. Coach Flip Saunders said he would continue to bring Miller off the bench the next few games and limit him to "20 to 26" minutes.
Analysis: Miller has the potential to be a solid Fantasy option. He is going to have to work his way back to being 100 percent, but Miller can be a useful option as the season goes on. Hopefully he can start to play more minutes, but for now consider him a No. 3 option in deeper leagues.
News: Washington SG Mike Miller (calf) played 24 minutes on Monday in a win over Portland. Miller's return to action after four missed contests saw him score 13 points on 4 for 4 shooting with a three. He added four assists, four rebounds and a block.
Analysis: Miller had a pretty triumphant return to the court. He saw 24 minutes off the bench and produced some good numbers. Miller has only played 11 games this season thus far and he's been underwhelming as a Fantasy option but if he can only get healthy and consistent, he'd be worth using in at least deeper leagues. It is clear that Miller has the ability to produce a healthy amount of points, threes, assists, boards, you name it. He just needs to get on the court consistently in order to do so.
News: According to the team's official Web site, Mike Miller (calf) has been activated for Monday's game against Portland. He was considered a game-time decision for the game.
Analysis: Miller appears to be a safe start now health-wise for Fantasy Week 13 (Jan. 18-24). He will eventually settle into a prominent role likely as the team's regular shooting guard who can also play some small forward and provide the team with some much-needed outside scoring.
News: Wizards G Mike Miller is listed as day-to-day on the team's official media notes for Monday's afternoon game against Portland due to his strained right calf. He will be a game-time decision.
Analysis: Miller is really too risky to play in most formats for Fantasy Week 13 (Jan. 18-24). He will eventually settle into a prominent role likely as the team's regular shooting guard who can also play some small forward and provide the team with some much-needed outside scoring. Until he can prove healthy and effective again, though, keep him reserved.
News: Washington G Mike Miller (calf) did not play on Saturday against Sacramento. He is still day-to-day.
Analysis: Fantasy owners will have to keep tabs on Miller to see if he will be able to go for Fantasy Week 13 (Jan. 18-24). If he is able to play and is healthy, he will see minutes and can be an asset to any Fantasy roster, especially with the suspension of Gilbert Arenas.
News: Washington G Mike Miller (calf) was inactive for Friday night's game with Chicago. This is the third straight that Miller has missed with calf issues.

News: Washington SG Mike Miller aggravated his right calf injury on Sunday against the Hornets and left the game in the 3rd quarter. Miller played 15 minutes in the game and scored five points.
Analysis: Miller could miss extended time and that would make Nick Young an enticing option for Week 12 (Jan. 11-17). Miller, however, is now a very shaky option for the Wizards in the next scoring period and might be best if left inactive in most leagues.
News: Washington G Mike Miller returned to the starting lineup Friday and scored seven points with five rebounds and five assists in a 104-97 victory over Orlando. This was Miller's first game back since November 21st.
Analysis: With the suspension of Gilbert Arenas, look for the Wizards to lean on Miller offensively out of the shooting guard position. That will give him a chance for added production compared to the numbers he was putting up prior to the injury. He is a great pickup off the waiver wire if he is available. He may be a bit rusty, but could add value beginning Fantasy Week 12 (Jan.11-17).

News: Wizards SG Mike Miller, who hasn't played since late November because of calf and shoulder injuries, remained out Tuesday at Philadelphia. The Wizards had considered activating him just so they could get an extra body.
Analysis: The Wizards have previously said Miller would make his return Friday, and they apparently plan to stick to that plan. He's a good 3-point shooter, but his scoring is inconsistent on a team with Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler. He's just a matchups type in Fantasy when he returns.
News: The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Mike Miller, who had been ruled out for Tuesday's game after the team's morning shootaround, could be activated for the game in Philadelphia against the 76ers. Head coach Flip Saunders announced the move later in the afternoon.
Analysis: The reason for the change is that the Wizards may need an extra body for "special situations" if Brendan Haywood, a game-time decision, can't play. Miller would not be playing significant minutes and is not yet ready to be activated in Fantasy. Miller is expected to return on Friday and Fantasy owners should use the weekend to determine whether or not he'll be ready to activate for Week 12 (Jan. 11-17). He's worth adding where available with his return just around the corner. When healthy, he should regain the starting shooting guard job and can offer double-digit scoring with good three-point shooting.
News: According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Mike Miller has been ruled out for Tuesday's game at the Philadelphia 76ers. Miller practiced with the team on Monday, but it was considered a "50-50" shot that he would return to action Tuesday.
Analysis: The team wants to play cautious with Miller who has missed the past 19 games with a strained left shoulder and a strained right calf. However, coach Flip Saunders told the Washington Post Monday that "There is no question he'll play Friday against Orlando." Fantasy owners should wait to see him healthy and productive before reinserting him into active lineups. Continue to monitor his progress.

News: Washington G Mike Miller, sidelined since Nov. 21 with a calf injury, is close to returning and will travel on the team's upcoming West Coast trip. Miller has not played since Nov. 21 at San Antonio due to the injury.
Analysis: The Wizards play four times in Fantasy Week 8 (Dec. 14-20) and Miller could return for one of those games. However, since it is unknown how long he will be out for, Fantasy owners should again hold Miller out in all formats. When healthy and active, Miller has the potential to be a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy option.
News: The Washington Post reports that Mike Miller will be out 3-6 weeks due to a strained right calf that he sustained Saturday against San Antonio.
Analysis: Miller was too risky to play going into Week 5 (Nov. 23-29), so his absence likely won't affect many Fantasy owners. He is averaging 9.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists and is a player you may consider cutting if you need the roster space.
News: The Washington Post reports that Mike Miller (calf) will be replaced by Nick Young in the starting lineup Tuesday against Philadelphia. Miller left Saturday's game against San Antonio after colliding with Gilbert Arenas.
Analysis: Miller is still being treated as day to day. Fantasy owners have to consider him risky for the upcoming scoring period where the Wizards will play just three games. Miller also seemed to hurt his shoulder in the team's previous game Friday at Oklahoma City, but he played through it. He's too banged up to rely upon at the moment.

News: Washington SG Mike Miller scored 20 points after missing the three previous games with a shoulder injury in a loss to the Pistons Saturday. He added three rebounds and three assists to his stat line as well.
Analysis: This is about when we expected Miller to return from the shoulder injury. He is now a safe play for Fantasy Week 4 (Nov. 16-22) as he performed well coming off the injury against Detroit. He should be considered a No. 4 Fantasy option for the upcoming scoring period.
News: The Washington Examiner reports that Mike Miller (shoulder) could return for Saturday's game against the Pistons. He has yet to return to practice.
Analysis: Miller was said to be out 7-10 days on Nov. 6, so Saturday's game is actually on the front end of that estimate. Fantasy owners should not activate him for the upcoming scoring period and should continue to monitor him before activating him.

Analysis: Miller came into Wednesday's game averaging 8.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and over a three per game this season. With all the scorers in Washington, he doesn't look like he'll recapture the form he had in Memphis, so think of him as a No. 4 guard or forward in standard Fantasy leagues, when healthy. Stash him away for now.
News: Washington Wizards guard Mike Miller sprained his left shoulder in the fourth quarter of the Wizards' game against Miami on Thursday night. Miller first hurt the shoulder in the third quarter in a collision with the Heat's Mario Chalmers. He immediately clutched his shoulder and was taken to the locker room. Miller returned to the bench a few minutes later with his shoulder taped and re-entered the game with about four minutes left in the quarter. Miller, who was acquired by Washington in a trade with Minnesota in June, aggravated the injury with 9:11 left in the fourth quarter when he fell to the court on a foul by Miami's Joel Anthony. Miller completed the 3-point play and stayed in the game for about another minute before again leaving for the locker room.
Analysis: It sounds like Miller will be day to day with this injury. He came back in the game twice so it doesn't seem like it is too terrible. Miller came into Wednesday's game averaging 8.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and over a three per game this season. With all the scorers in Washington, he doesn't look like he'll recapture the form he had in Memphis, so think of him as a No. 4 guard or forward in standard Fantasy leagues, when healthy.

Analysis: Miller might not be doing much scoring, but he has rebounded well, averaging 9.3 over his first four games. With all the scorers in Washington, he doesn't look like he'll recapture the form he had in Memphis, so think of him as a No. 4 guard or forward in standard Fantasy leagues.
News: Washington SG Mike Miller scored six points in his Wizards debut on Tuesday as Washington won at Dallas. Miller played 22 minutes and shot 2 of 4 with two threes. He added eight rebounds, two steals and two assists.
Analysis: Fantasy owners hope he'll take on more of a scoring role in the future but you should be happy with his board production and two threes. For most of his career, Miller has been a deadly outside shooter and an adequate source of rebounds and assists as well, but he disappeared in his only season with the Timberwolves last year. He should play a bigger role with the Wizards this year. Miller is worth using in most deeper Fantasy formats.

Analysis: For most of his career, Miller has been a deadly outside shooter and an adequate source of rebounds and assists as well, but he disappeared in his only season with the Timberwolves last year. He should play a bigger role with the Wizards this year, but he has to compete with several players for shots. If you draft him, wait until late to do so. He will have some added value to open up the season with Antawn Jamison out due to injury the first few weeks.
News: Wizards G/F Mike Miller began to experience flu-like symptoms in the locker room shortly after the team arrived in Atlanta for Monday's preseason game. The team sent him back to the hotel. PG Gilbert Arenas is already out with the flu.

The Timberwolves and Washington on Wednesday struck a deal that gives Minnesota its fourth first-round draft choice, along with Wizards forwards Etan Thomas, Darius Songaila and Oleksiy Pecherov. The Wizards receive guards Randy Foye and Mike Miller. The teams first agreed to the deal on Tuesday night. Minnesota now has the fifth, sixth, 18th and 28th selections in the draft.
Analysis: Viewed as one of the best perimeter shooters in the game, Miller played a far more passive game in his only season with the Wolves. He averaged a career-low 9.9 points per game. That could change in Washington, but his role would become even bigger should the team move Caron Butler at some point. Miller has some real sleeper value in Fantasy drafts this fall.

He is averaging 12 points per game over his last five contests with 8.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists. Those numbers make him worth using in most leagues.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller was able to play on Friday against the Cavaliers, playing 27 minutes and scoring only two points on 1-of-2 shooting from the field. He also had five rebounds and four assists in the game. Miller pulled up lame in Wednesday's game and was considered questionable for Friday's contest.
Analysis: Miller has typically been pulling down more rebounds than scoring points in his recent games and that trend continued on Friday. Miller remains a player worth using in most standard 12-team leagues as he should begin scoring with a bit more frequency soon.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller scored six points on 2-of-5 shooting over 19 minutes at Philadelphia on Wednesday. He added five boards and three blocks before pulling up lame in the fourth quarter.
Analysis: As of right this instant, little else is known about Miller's injury. It doesn't sound serious at first glance but check back for updates. Miller is more than worth using in 12-team formats, when healthy.

News:Mike Miller appeared to hurt his right ankle in the third quarter against the Knicks but he hobbled and winced his way through it. "It's March," Miller said, shrugging off any significance.
Analysis: Miller sounds like he's not going to let this ankle injury bother him, so it shouldn't be a big concern for Fantasy owners either. He can continue to be used as a No. 3 option.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller was just one rebound away from a double-double on Monday against the Wizards in a losing effort. He scored 16 points and added nine rebounds with five assists in the game.
Analysis: This was one of Miller's better games of late as he has not been all that productive despite being in the starting lineup He's averaging only 8.2 points per game and 5.6 assists over his last five and can be thought of as a No. 3 option.
News: Wolves guard Mike Miller said Tuesday after his team lost to Golden State that was the first time he's seen his team mail it in this season "and it better be the last. Our job is to go out there and compete. We might be short-handed and we might be a lot of things, but the one thing we can control is how hard we play." Miller didn't appear to mail it in with 11 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. Miller also pulled down his 3,000th career rebound in the second quarter.
Analysis: Miller has played well recently and should start to get going now that his season-long slump appears to be over. Keep Miller active in all leagues at this time as a No. 3 Fantasy option.

He has attempted 10 or more shots in five of the six games back since the six-day layoff. Wednesday against Utah, Miller scored 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field, his first 20-plus effort since the fourth game of the season. "Rest is key," Miller said when asked about his recent play, citing the nagging ankle injuries. "But if I'm on the floor, (there's) not going to be any excuse."
Analysis: Miller appears to be playing better since Al Jefferson (torn ACL) went down and is worth using in all leagues as a No. 3 Fantasy option at this time.
News: Minnesota F Mike Miller hit seven of the 12 shots he attempted against the Pacers on Friday in a 112-105 loss. Miller has reached double digits in three of his last five games, averaging 12.4 points per game and 6.4 rebounds and 5.8 during that five-game stretch.
Analysis: Miller is going to have to step up and take over some of the scoring responsibility at the forward position with Al Jefferson out for the season. He is averaging less than 10 points and four assists on the season, but is eclipsing those numbers of late. Still, he can only be used in deeper leagues.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller scored 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting with two threes in Tuesday's loss to Toronto. Miller added five assists and three rebounds. He scored in double figures for the first time in three games.

News: Minnesota guard Mike Miller continues to struggle. He scored just five points on 2-of-5 shooting in 35 minutes Wednesday against Detroit. Miller has scored in double figures just once in 13 games since returning from a second sprained ankle, but coach Kevin McHale insisted he isn't worried, reports the Pioneer Press. "If Mike was not rebounding, defending, passing the ball, I'd be a lot more concerned about him," he said. "I saw Larry Bird go through a shooting slump. If Larry is entitled to a shooting slump, I'm sure Mike Miller is."
Analysis: Let's be clear: Miller is no Bird. Miller should bounce back at some point this season, but he needs to start playing well for Fantasy owners to trust him again. For now, consider Miller a No. 4 Fantasy option.
News: Timberwolves SG Mike Miller grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds during Monday's win against the Bucks. Too bad he contributed just three points in 27 minutes off the bench. He also had three assists. Miller has scored in double-figures just once in 12 January games.
Analysis: The Minnesota Timberwolves have made Miller a pretty much non-existent option in his first season in Minnesota. Miller has always been a guy to rely on the 3-pointer, but he is now coming off the bench and Minnesota is limiting his offensive touches. He has gone from Fantasy must-start to fringe option.
News: Timberwolves G/F Mike Miller had six points, three rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 28 minutes off the bench Monday at the Clippers. Now a reserve, he started 22 of the first 23 games before missing five straight with a sprained right ankle, which is still bothering him. "It's an adjustment, but you've just got to continue to work hard and try to help the team win," Miller. "Anytime you win, it makes it easier."
Analysis: The Timberwolves are 7-1 since G/F Mike Miller became a reserve, making his chances of returning to the starting lineup not especially good right now. Unfortunately, he hasn't fared particularly well off the bench, finishing with less than 10 points in eight straight games. He's clearly not the same player he was in Memphis over the last few years. Don't bother starting him in standard Fantasy leagues.
News: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Mike Miller blames his lack of production on losing his shooting touch. "You just gotta take the shots that are there," Miller said. "It's a pretty simple game, really. You have to pick your spots. When you're open you just have to step up and shoot the ball."
Analysis: T'Wolves coach Kevin McHale addressed Miller's problem, calling him a "world-class shooter" who just has to get "comfortable out there knocking down some shots." If Miller is playing as well as we know he can, he could be a high-end option. However, until that happens he's just a low-end option for now.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller played 28 minutes on Saturday in a win over Milwaukee and scored eight points. Miller added five boards and two threes in the game and shot 3-of-8 from the field.
Analysis: Miller is really not doing much that Fantasy owners can get excited about lately. He's not starting and he's scoring just under six points and five boards per night with two assists over his last five games in about 26 minutes per night. He's even shooting threes, his specialty, at a lower rate and has struggled from deep. That's why coach Kevin McHale is limiting his playing time and Fantasy owners should do the same. If Miller is playing as well as we know he can, he could be a high-end option. However, until that happens he's just a low-end option for now.
News: Minnesota G Mike Miller scored seven points and had five rebounds in 23 minutes of playing time on Friday against the Warriors. Miller had missed the Timberwolves' last five games with an ankle injury.
Analysis: Miller simply hasn't been himself this season and has been plagued by injruies a few times now. If Miller is playing as well as we know he can, he could be a high-end option. However, until that happens he's just a low-end option for now.
News: Timberwolves F Mike Miller did not play again on Tuesday night against Dallas. He's missed five straight games with a sprained ankle. He remains day to day with the injury.
Analysis: Miller has been hobbled by injury in December, but even when he has been healthy this season, he hasn't looked like the sharp-shooter from his Memphis days. Miller could be a nice high-end Fantasy option, but until he gets back to the level, he has low-end Fantasy appeal when healthy.
News: Timberwolves F Mike Miller did not play against his former team -- the Grizzlies -- Monday and has now missed the last four games with a sprained right ankle. He remains questionable for Tuesday against the Mavs.
News: The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports Minnesota guard Mike Miller will be a game-time decision for the Wolves on Monday night against his former team, Memphis. Coach Kevin McHale said after the Monday morning shootaround that Miller's sprained right ankle is still sore and the team doesn't want to take chances with its starting shooting guard, who has suffered two such injuries this month.
Analysis: Miller, who has missed three games with this latest injury, sounds like a risky play this week despite reports he would return against the Grizzlies. The safe option is to keep Miller reserved at this time and let him come back and prove he's ready for play before putting him in your active lineup.
News: Minnesota guard Mike Miller, who has missed most of December because of a sprained ankle he originally injured at Orlando four weeks ago and re-injured vs. Houston Dec. 20, practiced Sunday, reports the Star-Tribune. He is expected to play Monday night against his former team, Memphis.
Analysis: Hopefully he does return against the Grizzlies, which means it could be time to get him active in your lineups. The Timberwolves have four games in this scoring period, and it's time Miller starts playing like a No. 3 Fantasy option, which is what you drafted him to be.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller has missed three straight games with an ankle injury and could not return to action on Saturday night against the Orlando Magic. Coach Kevin McHale hopes to have him back Monday against Memphis.
Analysis: Miller has been inconsistent this season so hopefully resting his injured ankle will help. Since Miller could not return for Saturday's game, he's a major injury risk for Week 10 of the Fantasy season. When healthy, Miller is a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy option wherever he eligible in your league.
News: Timberwolves G/F Mike Miller (ankle) did not return to action Friday in New York. He has missed the last two games. Coach Kevin McHale wasn't sure if Mike Miller, out with a sprained ankle, would return Saturday against Orlando.
Analysis: Miller has been inconsistent this season so hopefully resting his injured ankle will help. Keep an eye on how Miller progresses this weekend before setting your lineup and hope he is OK to go. When healthy, Miller is a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy option wherever he eligible in your league.
News: Minnesota guard Mike Miller sat out Tuesday at San Antonio because of a left ankle sprain. He thinks he may miss only a couple of games with an injury that sidelined him four games earlier this season.
Analysis: Miller has been inconsistent this season so hopefully resting his injured ankle will help. Keep an eye on how Miller does prior to the next scoring period before setting your lineup and hope he is OK. When healthy, Miller is a No. 3 Fantasy option.
News: The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Timberwolves guard Mike Miller received treatment on his sprained right ankle Sunday, but the team said he underwent no additional tests. His status remains day to day.
Analysis: Miller was injured with 6:44 to play in the first quarter of Saturday night's 109-102 loss to the Houston Rockets. The Timberwolves will play three games in the upcoming scoring period, making Miller a risky play.
News: Minnesota guard Mike Miller left the Timberwolves' game Saturday night against Houston in the first quarter because of a sprained right ankle. Miller was hurt on a drive to the basket midway through the period. He crashed hard underneath the basket and immediately clutched his right leg. He was helped to the locker room by team officials. Miller missed four games earlier this month with the same injury. The team listed his return as questionable.
Analysis: Miller is third on the team in scoring with 11 points per game and also is averaging six rebounds. He continues to be a solid source of three-point shooting, though he is not a must-start in Fantasy. View him as a No. 3 or 4 option in leagues of 12-plus teams, when healthy. At this point he's beginning to seem like a bit injury prone.
News: Timberwolves G Mike Miller had 11 points and nine rebounds in Sunday's game at the Lakers, his second game back from a four-game absence due to a knee injury.
Analysis: Miller appeared to be fine on Sunday and was able to play 39 minutes. Fantasy owners worried about his conditioning don't have to worry about that if they want to activate him. He continues to be a solid source of three-point shooting, though he is not a must-start in Fantasy. View him as a No. 3 or 4 option in leagues of 12-plus teams.
News: SG Mike Miller returned to action on Friday against the Spurs but was less than spectacular. He was 1-for-5 from the field for three points in 33 minutes of playing time. Miller had been sidelined with a knee injury for four games.
Analysis: This was not the kind of return the Timberwolves were hoping for from Miller. His main contribution in the game was six rebounds in the 98-86 loss to the Spurs. Miller should be considered a No. 4 Fantasy option heading into Week 8 (Dec. 15-21).
News: Timberwolves G/F Mike Miller missed his fourth straight game with an ankle injury Wednesday at Denver. He remains day to day.
Analysis: Miller's scoring is down with the Timberwolves, but he still gets decent rebounds and knows how to knock down threes. Keep an eye on his status leading up to Fantasy Week 8 (Dec. 15-21), but he's a No. 4 Fantasy option if he can play.
News: Timberwolves G/F Mike Miller missed his third straight game with an ankle injury Tuesday against the Jazz. He remains day to day.

News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller (knee) sat out Saturday's game against the Clippers with a sprained right ankle, his second straight missed game.
Analysis: Miller could certainly return for Tuesday's game against Utah as he said he thought he could go in Saturday's game. Still, he also said he probably wouldn't be at 100 percent if he does play. He's an injury risk for next scoring period, but the T-Wolves play four games. You'll have to check back on Sunday to see if there is any change in his progress before deciding whether or not to keep him benched next week. He's a No. 4 Fantasy option when healthy.
News: The Timberwolves put Mike Miller on the inactive list for the game. He participated in the morning shootaround, hoping to play despite a right ankle sprain suffered in Minnesota's last game, a 100-89 loss in Orlando on Wednesday night
Analysis: Although he didn't play agaisnt the Nets Friday, he could go Saturday against the Clippers. Stay tuned to see whether you should start him for Week 7 (Dec. 8-14).
News: The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that an MRI of Mike Miller's injured right ankle done Thursday morning proved negative. Miller said he awoke with a stiff ankle, but that there was no swelling and said he would test it out Friday in New Jersey against the Nets.
Analysis: Miller said he was lucky to avoid a serious injury. He said that the sprain was high up in the ankle, but was not the dreaded high ankle sprain. He remains day-to-day and sounds as if he will play Friday against the Nets. He got treatment on the ankle Thursday and was held out of practice.
News: Timberwolves G/F Mike Miller was helped off the court and taken to the locker room early in the third quarter Wednesday against the Magic with an apparent knee injury. He returned with about two minutes left in the period. He finished with four points, five rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes of play. Miller said he will have an MRI on his knee Thursday. "At first, I thought it was really serious," he said. "But right now we found out that it is hopefully just a sprain."
Analysis: Miller has only scored in double figures in three of his last nine games after averaging 16.4 points per game with the Grizzlies last season. With Corey Brewer out for the season, he'll likely become a more integral part of the offense, but not when he leaves with knee injuries. Assuming he can play going forward, he remains a No. 4 Fantasy option.
News: With SF Corey Brewer (knee) sidelined for the season, Timberwolves G/F Mike Miller had one of his best games Monday at Charlotte. He had 19 points and 10 rebounds, giving him his second double-double of the year. He also had five assists and hit five three-pointers.
Analysis: Miller had scored in double figures in only two of his previous seven games after averaging 16.4 points per game with the Grizzlies last season. Brewer's absence seemed to make him a more integral part of the offense, though, and if the trend continues, he'll become a No. 3 Fantasy G/F.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller recorded a double-double in Wednesday's win over the 76ers. Miller had 10 points and 10 boards and added six assists and two steals.
Analysis: Miller amassed his season high for rebounds Wednesday and scored 10 points for the third time in four games. Still, his scoring is well down from last year as Al Jefferson picks up the slack. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy G/F that is playing slightly under his potential.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller scored 10 points against the Blazers on Saturday night in a loss for the T-Wolves. Miller shot 4-of-8 from the field and 1-of-2 from deep and added five rebounds and five assists.
Analysis: Miller has now scored 10 points in two straight games and hasn't hit 20 since scoring 25 against the Spurs in double overtime on Nov. 5. He's averaging 13.6 points, 4.9 boards and 4.2 assists this season in eight games. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy G/F that is playing slightly under his potential. The Wolves play three times and have poor matchups in Week 4, so you might consider going another way with your shooting guard spot.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller scored 25 points in Wednesday's double-overtime loss to San Antonio. Miller added seven rebounds and six assists.
Analysis: Miller had far and away his best game this season on Wednesday night. Before that he'd been struggling quite a bit averaging just 11 points and 2.3 boards per night. The guy knows how to shoot, and the Timberwolves will figure out away to exploit that ability. He averaged a career-high 6.7 rebounds last year, but that number will likely fall as he plays primarily shooting guard. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy G/F.
News: Timberwolves G/F Mike Miller, making his Minnesota debut after coming over in an offseason trade from Memphis, didn't do what he does best -- hit 3-pointers -- Wednesday against the Kings. He finished with 11 points, two rebounds and six assists in 31 minutes. He also blocked two shots.
Analysis: Miller only attempted one three, but don't expect that to become a trend. The guy knows how to shoot, and the Timberwolves will figure out away to exploit that ability. He averaged a career-high 6.7 rebounds last year, but that number will likely fall as he plays primarily shooting guard. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy G/F.
News: The Timberwolves will play three games in Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2). They'll play Sacramento on Oct. 29, Dallas on Nov. 1 and at Oklahoma City Nov. 2. The Kings allowed 104.8 ppg last season. The Mavericks allowed just 95.6 ppg and Oklahoma City/Seattle allowed 106.3 ppg.
Analysis: Mike Miller will go up against Kevin Martin, Antoine Wright and Kevin Durant and should be a viable option in most Fantasy formats. Miller averaged 16.4 points in 2007-08, his second-highest total in his career. Now in Minnesota, he'll be asked to start at the two-guard spot and will be surrounded by a another raw team that is in need of a proven scorer. Miller is just that and will continue to be one of the better sources for three-point shooting in the NBA.
News: Minnesota SG Mike Miller started and played 29 minutes against the Nuggets in Sunday's preseason matchup. Miller scored 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting.
Analysis: Miller has been healthy and active for most of the preseason and was held out mostly for rest. Miller averaged 16.4 points in 2007-08, his second-highest total in his career. Analysis: Miller averaged 16.4 points in 2007-08, his second-highest total in his career. Too bad that in 2006-07 he averaged a career-high 18.5 points. His numbers dropped with the emergence of Rudy Gay. Miller is still a nice threat from downtown and will likely be a No. 2 Fantasy forward on Draft Day 2008, no matter where he plays.
News: Grizzlies SF Mike Miller (back) did not return to the lineup Tuesday against the Trail Blazers. He has missed the last three games and is questionable for Wednesday's season finale against the Nuggets.

News: Grizzlies forward Mike Miller sat out the final home game of the year with back spasms. With just two meaningless games left, he may have shut it down for the year, reports the Sports Xchange.
Analysis: Look for Miller to miss the rest of the season since the Grizzlies are already planning for next season. Keep him reserved in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Memphis G Mike Miller missed his second straight game with back spasms Saturday against Minnesota. He is considered day to day.
Analysis: With the Grizzlies well out of the hunt for a playoff spot, there will be no need to rush him back into the lineup for the team's final two games of the season, a back-to-back set at Portland and Denver. He could very well miss both those games.
News: Memphis forward Mike Miller was held to nine points, five assists and five rebounds Tuesday against the Suns.
Analysis: Miller has played well this year, but he is not closing the season on a high note. Hopefully he will finish strong, but right now you can't count on it with the way he's playing. Keep an eye on his next couple of games before setting your lineup for the final scoring period.
News: Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller scored only six points in 18 minutes of play Monday against the Hawks. He also had two rebounds and two assists. He has now scored six points in each of the last two games.
Analysis: Miller has averaged only nine points per game over his last four games, and he broke 20 points only three times in March. Clearly, he's not playing his best ball right now, but because he averages 16 points per game and contributes a solid number of rebounds and assists, he's still worth starting as a No. 3 Fantasy guard or forward.
News: Memphis G/F Mike Miller went for 18 points, 13 rebounds and two assists Monday against Charlotte.

News: Grizzlies SF Mike Miller opened Wednesday's game against the Nets with 13 points in the first half and finished with 22 during a 100-93 win. It was Miller's first game back after missing seven games with a sore back, and the Grizzlies' second-leading scorer came out shooting, connecting on 9 of 13 shots. "Mike has a lot to do with it because of his presence," Iavaroni said of the victory. "I think the team gets lifted when they see him getting off to a good early start." Miller also had six rebounds and one assist.
Analysis: The Grizzlies couldn't field any reasonable offers for Miller at the trade deadline, so he remains with Memphis until the end of the season. The Grizz can hang with that. Miller has managed just 20 or more points in two of his last eight games. Perhaps this layoff is exactly what he needed to get on track. Miller is deadly with the 3-pointer, but contributes across the board as a solid No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: The Grizzlies hope Mike Miller, who missed his seventh game Tuesday against Chicago because of a sore back, will return Wednesday against New Jersey.
Analysis: Miller didn't end up going anywhere before the trade deadline and remains a decent contributor in points, rebounds and assists. When healthy, he deserves to start in all Fantasy formats, but he doesn't look like a safe start for the upcoming scoring period.
News: Saturday against the Jazz, Memphis was without G Mike Miller, the team's second-leading scorer, for the sixth straight game because of a sore back. News: Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller missed his third straight game with back spasms Sunday at Cleveland. He remains day to day.
Analysis: The Grizzlies are slated for just three games in Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 25-March 2), making him a bit of a risky play. Back spasms are tough for basketball players and there is no indication that he'll be ready for Tuesday. Juan Carlos Navarro continues to start in his place.
News: Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller missed his second straight game with back spasms Friday against the Mavericks.
Analysis: Miller didn't end up going anywhere before the trade deadline and remains a decent contributor in points, rebounds and assists. Keep him active, when healthy, in all Fantasy leagues.

Analysis: Miller has been rumored to be on the trading block and might soon have a new address. If he stays or lands in a new zip code, his Fantasy value won't alter all that much. He remains a decent contributor in points, rebounds and assists. Treat him as a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy forward when healthy.
News: Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller, lately the subject of trade rumors, scored only seven points Tuesday at Seattle before leaving in the second quarter with back spasms.
Analysis: Miller was averaging 19.7 points over his last six games, though a 32-point performance in there had a lot to do with it. Still, he remains a decent contributor in points, rebounds and assists, so keep him active, when healthy, in all Fantasy leagues. This injury doesn't sound too serious at this juncture.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Grizzlies guard Mike Miller has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors, but he keeps on keeping on. He scored 17 points against the Kings Tuesday on an efficient shooting night of 5-of-7. He also had 10 rebounds, all on the defensive end. "It has been out there, but my job and my loyalty is to the Grizzlies," Miller said. "How ever many games I have left here in my career, I'm going to try and win games for Memphis."
Analysis: Miller is averaging 19.7 points over his last six games, though a 32-point performance in there had a lot to do with it. Still, he remains a decent contributor in points, rebounds and assists, so keep him active in all Fantasy leagues. A trade would not decrease his Fantasy value because he would head to a team that probably needs his scoring ability.
News: Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller had his first double-double in 10 games Tuesday against the Kings, scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. He also had three assists.
Analysis: Miller is averaging 19.7 points over his last six games, though a 32-point performance in there had a lot to do with it. Still, he remains a decent contributor in points, rebounds and assists, so keep him active in all Fantasy leagues.

Analysis: Miller had a huge game with 32 points his last time out, but he's been up-and-down of late. His lows are still around 15 points, though, and the absence of Pau Gasol should cause him to up his scoring down the stretch this season.
News: With recently traded Pau Gasol now settled in as a Laker, Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller scored a season-high 32 points on 12-of-22 shooting Tuesday against the Bucks. He also had five rebounds and three assists.
Analysis: If Tuesday's game gives any indication of how the Grizzlies offense will run without Gasol, then watch out, Miller owners. No, the swingman won't break 30 every night, but he might score 20 with more regularity. With 16.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists this season, he remains a must-start in Fantasy as it is.
News: Grizzlies SF Mike Miller was held under 10 points for the first time in eight games and for the ninth time this season when he scored eight points Monday against the Mavs. Miller went just 3 of 10 from the field and hit both of his free throws. He also had four rebounds and two assists.
Analysis: Miller relies on his 3-point shot, and when he isn't hitting it, he doesn't score a lot. However, don't hold one bad game against him. He was having a fine January up until Monday. He came into the game averaging a season-high 19.4 points. He has been a better scorer since December and remains a solid No. 2 Fantasy guard or forward.
News: Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller had 21 points and nine rebounds Friday at Washington, putting him one rebound short of his second double-double in three games. He has, however, scored 20 or more points in four of his last six games.
Analysis: Miller has averaged 19.8 points over that stretch. He's also proven his breakout 2006-07 not a fluke, his slight scoring decrease this year compensated for by a slight rebounding increase. Get him back active as a No. 2 Fantasy guard or forward.

Analysis: Miller has also proven his breakout 2006-07 not a fluke, his slight scoring decrease this year compensate for by a slight rebounding increase. Hopefully, these back spasms won't sideline the No. 2 Fantasy guard or forward for long, but he looks like a risky start going into the upcoming scoring period.
News: Grizzlies SF Mike Miller had 25 points, four rebounds and six 3-pointers in Friday's win over Seattle. He shot 9-for-17 from the field and 6-for-9 from beyond the arc.
Analysis: Miller has managed to hit at least two treys in all but one of his last nine games. He's among the league leaders in the 3-point shooting categories and Fantasy owners have to consider him a solid No. 2 option in any format.
News: Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller scored a team-leading 27 points -- his third-highest single-game output of the season -- Sunday at the Lakers. He also had five rebounds and three assists. He shot 11-for-16 from the floor, including 4-for-6 from 3-point range.

News: Grizzlies G/F Mike Miller had 25 points, including 12 on free throws, Sunday against the Heat. He also had eight rebounds and six assists.
Analysis: While his scoring average has dropped a smidgen from his breakout 2006, Miller is now averaging two rebounds more per game, making him not such a one-year wonder in Fantasy after all. Continue to start him as a No. 2 guard or forward.

Analysis: Miller's scoring average is down over three points from last season so far in 2007/08, but his rebound totals are up by almost two boards. His dual eligibility obviously makes him more of an attractive Fantasy option than he was before. He scores more from the SF spot, so keep an eye on his totals over the next couple of weeks before you start him at one position or the other.
News: Grizzlies swingman Mike Miller made his 10th start of the season in Monday's win vs. Seattle -- his ninth at shooting guard. He is one more start at shooting guard away from gaining eligibility at the position in CBSSports.com leagues that use multiple positions.
Analysis: Last season, Miller started 69 games -- 64 at small forward and five at shooting guard. The team has flip-flopped Miller and Rudy Gay this season, though, and that will add to both player's flexibility in Fantasy leagues. Miller had 23 points with seven rebounds in his only start at small forward this season and he's averaging 14.0 ppg in his nine starts at small forward, for what that's worth. It is also worth mentioning that Miller's best scoring season came last season when he averaged 18.5 ppg while playing mostly small forward. His previous high had been 15.6 ppg in 2002 while splitting time between Orlando and Memphis. Coincidence?

News: Grizzlies SF Mike Miller scored just six points in Saturday's loss at Utah, scoring less than 10 points for the second consecutive game.
Analysis: Miller is averaging just 12.0 ppg, but has been very active on the glass. He's averaging 9.4 rpg to go with 3.8 apg this season and should be viewed as a low-end starter for now. He's not going to put up the types of scoring numbers he did in a career-year a season ago (18.5 ppg).
News: Grizzlies SF Mike Miller scored 11 points with 10 rebounds and five assists in Wednesday's season opener vs. San Antonio.
Analysis: Miller took just eight shots from the field, but he made four of them. He was 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Miller's career season from a year ago (18.5 ppg) will be hard to repeat, but he remains useful as a quality No. 3 Fantasy forward in any format.
News: Memphis got a scare early Friday against the Pacers when Mike Miller went down after a dunk in the opening minutes. The Grizzlies' leading 3-point shooter immediately went to the locker room, but he returned a short time later. He finished with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and also had four rebounds.
Analysis: Miller played 21 minutes total, so apparently no harm done. He had a career season a year ago, making him a candidate for a letdown season. With his stock sky-high in Fantasy leagues after he averaged 18.5 ppg last year, his career averages (14.1 ppg, 2.9 apg, 4.5 rpg) are more what you should expect from him.

Analysis: There is still no timetable for Miller's return. At this point, it is very likely that the former Florida Gator will miss the remainder of the season. Keep him reserved until further notice.
News: The Grizzlies will be without the services of Damon Stoudamire and Mike Miller for an undetermined amount of time, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. Both are out indefinitely, Stoudamire with a sore knee, and Miller with tendinitis in his knee.
Analysis: According to the paper, Chucky Atkins will start in place of Stoudamire, while Tony Barone was uncertain who would replace Miller in the starting lineup. He did say after Saturday's loss at Utah that guard Tarence Kinsey would receive a lot more playing time the rest of the season, making him a likely candidate to make his first career start. Kinsey had a career-high 20 points against the Jazz. Considering the Griz are slated for five games this week, this is a tough break for Fantasy owners who were relying on Miller. Think about adding Kinsey as a short-term replacement option.
News: According to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Mike Miller sat out the second half Saturday at Utah as a precautionary measure after suffering from tendinitis in his knee.
Analysis: Miller is considered day to day. This makes him a somewhat risky start for the upcoming scoring period, but the Grizzlies are slated for five games in the upcoming scoring period. That's right. Five games. If Miller is able to play, this would probably be one of his highest -- if not the highest -- cumulative scoring period of the season.

Analysis: Miller, who will be participating in next weekend's 3-point Shootout, will need to step up his game if he wants to have a shot. Still, he remains a must-start Fantasy forward.
News: Memphis G Mike Miller entered Friday's game averaging almost 42 minutes over the last five games, and interim coach Tony Barone realizes that can't continue at that level. "We're killing him," Barone said before the game. "We've got to get somebody else some minutes." Miller played 50 minutes Friday night. He had 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in the game.
Analysis: Fantasy owners love the fact that Miller is playing more than 40 minutes a game. He still will be on the court for a good part of the game, but his minutes will likely go down. Still, he remains a must-start Fantasy forward.
News: Dirk Nowitzki will face Gilbert Arenas again in the 3-point contest during the NBA's All-Star weekend next week, the league announced on Thursday. Jason Terry, Nowitzki's Dallas teammate, also is back after failing to advance to the final round last year. Rounding out the field are Miami's Jason Kapono, who leads the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage at 55.9 percent; Mike Miller of the Memphis Grizzlies; and Damon Jones of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Analysis: Nowitzki won the event last year in Houston, beating Arenas 18-16 in the final. The contest will be in Las Vegas on Feb. 17, followed a day later by the All-Star game. The league's best three-point shooters will be on display and Rotisserie-league owners should take not. These are some of the best options for help in that category.

Analysis: Miller has been on a scoring tear ever since new coach Tony Barone took over. He has rewarded Fantasy owners, who grabbed him as a No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy forward, with numbers that can be expected from a No. 2 forward. The treys are great in Rotisserie play, obviously.
News: Memphis forward Mike Miller had a poor game against Denver on Monday. He scored only five points and failed to grab a rebound for the first time this year. Miller hit only 1-of-6 threes against the Nuggets, but the one he hit extended his streak to 21 games of hitting at least one. He now has tied the team consecutive games record for threes set by Jason Williams two years ago.

"You've got to stop the other team for you to run and we didn't do that as much as we needed to early," Miller said. "But once we get going in this building, we're pretty good. We mixed our defenses and our zone defense really takes time off the clock."
Analysis: Consider Miller a solid No. 3 forward and hope he continues to shoot well.
