Wolves' Robbie Hummel progressing from broken hand

(3/4/2015) Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders told reporters Wednesday forward Robbie Hummel's broken hand has 'pretty much fully healed,' reports the team's official website.

Hummel has not played since Jan. 25 after suffering a broken hand. Saunders added that Hummel has to gain more flexibility in his hand before he returns and there is no timetable on his return.

Coach Flip Saunders said he hoped Hummel would be back by now, so doctors will further evaluate the injury. In 36 games, Hummel is averaging 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds.

Hummel is dealing with a fractured hand, and has been out since Jan. 25 due to the issue. He's expected to return in late February, but will need at least another game to get back out on the court. Hummel is averaging 4.2 points per game.

Muhammad has been sidelined since Jan. 9. He is averaging 13.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 35 appearances. Hummel has been sidelined indefinitely due to a broken hand.

Martin has been out since Nov. 19 with a fractured wrist. The team also announced Ricky Rubio (ankle), Shabazz Muhammad (oblique) and Robbie Hummel (wrist) are out.

(1/25/2015) Timberwolves forward Robbie Hummel suffered a non-displaced fracture of the fourth metacarpal in his right hand and will be out indefinitely, the team announced Sunday after their game against the Hawks.

Hummel suffered the injury at the end of the third quarter after scoring nine points and grabbing four rebounds.

Hummel played 23 minutes, scoring nine points on 3 of 6 shooting and grabbed four rebounds before exiting the game. His status for Minnesota's game Monday against the Thunder is unknown.

(1/17/2015) Timberwolves forward Robbie Hummel scored 15 points on 6 of 12 shooting and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds in Minnesota's 113-105 win over the Nuggets Saturday. It was Hummel's first career double-double and most minutes he has played in a game in his career.

Starting over Chase Budinger, Hummel also had one block on the night.

(12/29/2014) Flip Saunders opted to play Robbie Hummel over Anthony Bennett during long stretches of the Saturday loss to Golden State. Hummel finished with 21 minutes for the Timberwolves to just seven for the struggling Bennett, who was a mess as a rookie with Cleveland last season.

"He hasn't played very well," Saunders said of Bennett, per the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "And Robbie played very well. When you're on the floor, you have opportunities. I just thought Robbie deserved the opportunity because he has been playing very well. A.B. has tried to fight through some things, been hurt a little bit. He'll get other opportunities. They will come. I don't feel he played with enough energy lately."

Bennett has hit on just 8 of his last 31 shots. He has played only 12 minutes in the last two games combined.

(2/6/2014) Timberwolves forward Robbie Hummel appeared in his first game in nearly a month Wednesday against the Thunder.

Hummel played 17 minutes with the Timberwolves shorthanded by injuries and other absences. He scored five points on 2 of 5 shooting, and added one rebound, one assist and one block each in the 106-97 loss.

Hummel has played more than expected as a late second-round pick, appearing in 28 of the first 49 games for the Timberwolves. He is averaging 2.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game for the season.

 Hummel attempted just one shot, which he missed. He added three rebounds and two steals. Hummel has missed his last three shots over the last two games, and is shooting just 33.3 percent from the field in his first 12 games.
