(2/3/2014) Hawks guard John Jenkins underwent successful lower back surgery Monday and will miss the remainder of the season, NBA.com reports.

"Jenkins will undergo a period of rest and recovery, followed by treatment and rehabilitation," according to the report.

Jenkins averaged 3.1 points and 12.2 minutes over 13 games in his second season with the Hawks.

(1/25/2014) The Hawks have had miserable luck with injuries this season, and it continues with guard John Jenkins expected to undergo back surgery, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Jenkins, who has appeared in just 13 games and has not played since Dec. 26, is seriously considering surgery on his back, according to the report. Details of the procedure have not been determined, but he has been dealing with nerve pain in his left leg as a result of the injury since the summer.

Jenkins has not progressed with just rest and therapy, prompting the decision to go under the knife. At this point, there remains no timeline for his potential return.

(1/4/2014) Hawks guard John Jenkins has no official timetable for his return from nerve and back issues, but the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports Saturday he will miss at least the team's next two games. Jenkins did not travel with the team for its current two-game road trip, taking place Saturday and Monday.

The earliest Jenkins could return is Jan. 8 against the Pacers, but given the uncertainty surrounding his recovery, that is not assured.

(11/27/2013) Hawks guard John Jenkins scored a season-high 13 points on 5 of 12 shooting, including 3 of 6 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 113-84 loss to the Rockets Wednesday.

Jenkins played a season-high 33 minutes with Kyle Korver and Shelvin Mack sidelined, adding three rebounds and three assists while turning the ball over four times. He had entered Wednesday's contest with just 16 total points in six games this season.

(11/22/2013) Hawks guard John Jenkins' role has been inconsistent to open the season, as he played 18 minutes Friday against the Pistons, one game after staying stuck to the bench.

Jenkins scored six points on 2 of 6 shooting in Friday's game, while making one 3-pointer. He added five rebounds, but did not record an assist while turning the ball over twice in a 96-89 win.

Jenkins has appeared in just five games total this season, averaging just 13.2 minutes per game in those contests.

(10/22/2013) Hawks guard John Jenkins made his preseason debut Tuesday, after sitting out the first five games while recovering from a back injury. Jenkins played 11 minutes off the bench, missing his lone field-goal attempt while adding one rebound and two assists.

Jenkins was expected to fight for a spot in the rotation this preseason, but this injury puts him behind schedule. He will likely come off the bench for the start of the regular season.

Jenkins' back injury was never reported, but it happened nonetheless. It should not limit him as he attempts to win a rotation spot for the Hawks. 

Jenkins shot 37.6 percent during the Summer League and played solid basketball. He could be a solid 3-point shooting option for the Hawks this season.

Jenkins, who had missed the past four games while dealing with post-concussion symptoms, finished with a career-best 23 points in the 99-97 defeat. He went 7 of 9 from the field, including hitting on all three of his attempts from the behind the arc, and also added four assists and four rebounds to his stat line, while logging 28 minutes off the bench.
