Starting options for Week 8

(12/15/2014) In my Week 8 (Dec. 15-21) Fantasy basketball planner, I identified eight lower-end players worth starting this week, headlined by Knicks guard Tim Hardaway and David West.

Other players worth getting into your lineup for this week are: Pacers guard Rodney Stuckey and Magic guard Evan Fournier;Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist; and Bucks center Larry Sanders and Celtics center Tyler Zeller.

Hornets' Michael Kidd-Gilchrist set to return Wednesday

(12/10/2014) Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will return to the court for Wednesday’s game against the Celtics, the team announced.

Kidd-Gilchrist has been sidelined since suffering a foot injury Nov. 14. He is expected to come off the bench for the Hornets.

(12/9/2014) Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was able to practice Tuesday, but it is unknown whether he will be able to suit up Wednesday against the Celtics. 

Kidd-Gilchrist has been out since Nov. 14 with a foot injury. He is averaging 9.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this year.

(12/3/2014) Hornets coach Steve Clifford said Wednesday that small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will not return to action until at least Dec. 10 against the Celtics, the Charlotte Observer reports.

Kidd-Gilchrist will miss home games Wednesday and Friday against the Bulls and Knicks, respectively, before potentially returning next Wedensday. He's been limited to just six games this season due to a stress reaction in his foot, with his last action coming Nov. 11.


Kemba Walker joins list of injured Hornets players

(11/27/2014) Although Hornets guard Kemba Walker was able to play through injury Wednesday against the Trail Blazers, it doesn't appear he will be active Friday against the Warriors. The Hornets announced Thursday that Walker is doubtful to play Friday because of a right thigh contusion.

The Hornets also listed guard P.J. Hairston as questionable due to a sprained right thumb, guard Gary Neal as doubtful due to a left shoulder sprain, forward Marvin Williams as doubtful with a left shoulder strain and forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist as out due to a stress reaction in his right foot.


Hornets' Kidd-Gilchrist out Monday, could be out awhile


(11/24/2014) Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is out again Monday against the Clippers with a foot injury. Kidd-Gilchrist, who still can't put pressure on his foot, could be out a while, according to the Associated Press.

Kidd-Gilchrist hasn't played since Nov. 11 against the Trail Blazers. He is averaging 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

(11/22/2014) Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will likely sit out the remainder of the month. According to the Charlotte Observer, coach Steve Clifford said he's not expecting Kidd-Gilchrist back until at least Dec. 3 against the Bulls.

(10/1/2014) Hornets coach Steve Clifford said Monday he plans to start Marvin Williams at power forward ahead of Cody Zeller and Lance Stephenson will start at either small forward or shooting guard, according to the Charlotte Observer.

With center Al Jefferson and point guard Kemba Walker also securing spots in the starting lineup, the final spot will come down to shooting guard Gerald Henderson or small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

Clifford is really excited about the potential Stephenson brings to the lineup.

"I’ve been around Kobe (Bryant) and (Tracy) McGrady and (Latrell) Sprewell in his prime. Lance isn’t there yet," Clifford said. "Lance was 13 1/2 (ppg.) last year. He’s young and talented. His efficiency shooting the ball, getting his turnovers down (need to improve). For us to talk about him as a legitimate All-Star player who we can play through, that’s the jump he needs to make and he knows that."


Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's jump shot 'going in a lot more'

(9/30/2014) Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist worked with assistant coach Mark Price to rebuild his jump shot from ground-up, and the results are starting to show at the start of training camp, according to the Charlotte Observer. Kidd-Gilchrist shot 47.3 percent from the floor in 62 appearances last season.

"Does it feel that different? Well, it’s going in a lot more," Kidd-Gilchrist said. "I believe in the process. I started in April and it feels great."

(5/31/2014) Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is working with assistant coach Mark Price to improve his jump shot for the second straight offseason, the Charlotte Observer reports. Kidd-Gilchrist is working on his balance and will tweak the release point of his shot.

In his rookie season Kidd-Gilchrist took 613 shots and converted 45.8 percent of them in 78 games (77 starts). In 2013-14, he shot 47.3 percent from the floor but took only 353 shots in 62 games starts.

"From Day 1, it's been balance," head coach Steve Clifford said. "You'll see a lot of guys shoot fade jumpers. I don't care who it is, nobody makes as many off-balance shots as balanced shots. It's a big deal."

(4/4/2014) Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist suffered a back bruise in the first half of Friday's win over the Magic.

Kidd-Gilchrist sustained the injury in the first half, and was taken to the locker room for X-rays, which came back negative. He started the second half but was held scoreless for the final two periods. He finished the game scoreless with two rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes of game action. He is averaging 5.4 points and 5.2 rebounds over his last five games.

(1/14/2014) Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist made his return to the floor Tuesday against the Knicks, after missing nearly a month and a half with a fractured hand. He struggled with his shot but managed to get through the 108-98 win without issue.

Kidd-Gilchrist, who has never been a strong shooter, made just 3 of his 12 attempts in his return to the floor. He added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals to his eight points in 30 minutes.

Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 9.1 points per game while appearing in 19 of the team's first 39 games.
