by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(5/3/2014) Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard showed some late-game heroics on Friday, drilling a 3-pointer at the buzzer to eliminate the Rockets in Game 6 in Portland.

Down two with 0.9 seconds remaining, Lillard knocked down the shot over Chandler Parsons to send the team to the second round of the playoffs. He became the first player to make a buzzer-beating shot to win a playoff series since John Stockton's 3 that led Utah over Houston in 1997's Western Conference finals.

Lillard finished the game with 25 points on 8 of 14 from the floor, including 6 of 10 from downtown and 3 of 3 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with six rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in 43 minutes.

Lillard has multiple 3-pointers in six straight playoff games, a franchise record. He finished the series averaging 25.5 points, 6.7 assists and 6.3 rebounds in six games.

Lillard has taken a step forward in his second season in the league, and should continue to play well down the stretch. He is averaging 21.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while appearing in each of the team's 61 games.

Lillard, the sixth overall pick in last June's draft out of Weber State, led all rookies with a 19-point scoring average. He also averaged 6.1 assists and 3.1 rebounds, playing in all 82 games this season. Lillard was a unanimous choice for first place.

Lillard falls short in shootout

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(4/11/2013) Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard went shot for shot with Lakers legend Kobe Bryant for most of Wednesday's game, but ultimately fell short late. Lillard scored a career-high 38 points on 12 of 25 shooting, including a 5 of 11 mark on 3-pointers and a perfect 9-for-9 showing from the free-throw line. Lillard added nine assists and three steals in 43 minutes, but the Blazers failed to pull out the win, in a 113-106 loss. After the game, Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni had nothing but praise for the rookie who nearly foiled his playoff aspirations. "That's about as good as you can get", D'Antoni told reporters. "That's about as good a rookie as I've ever seen."
