Damian Lillard hopes to sign extension with Blazers

(4/30/2015) Although Trail Blazers forward Damian Lillard was disappointed in the way the season ended for the team, he expressed optimism that he will sign an extension in the offseason, reports 750 The Game.

"For me, this is where I want to be," he said. "Whatever we need to do to make that happen, I want to do it."

In 82 games, Lillard averaged 21.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists.

"I can look back at this season and be happy with what I did," he said, per the team.

(4/23/2015) Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard scored 18 points Wednesday but shot just 5 of 16 from the field, including 1 of 5 from 3-point range, in his team's 97-82 loss to the Grizzlies in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

"It's obvious I didn't shoot as well as I would have liked to in either of the first two games, but it's one of those situations where you've just got to keep playing," Lillard said after the game, per The Oregonian. "They're doing a great job defensively. I'm trying to figure out the coverages and listening to the way they communicate and figure out what they're trying to do."

Lillard hit just five of his 21 shots in Game 1. The Blazers take a 2-0 series deficit into Saturday's game in Portland.

(4/6/2015) Point guard Damian Lillard scored a game-high 36 points and added four rebounds in the Trail Blazers' 106-96 loss to the Nets on Monday.

Lillard was 6 of 11 from 3-point range.

"I didn't put any pressure on myself but I knew that without LA, Nico and Kaman, I would have to probably raise the level of my play and try to do a little bit more," Lillard said referring to teammates LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum and Chris Kaman who were out with injuries.

The 36 points was Lillard's highest total since Jan. 5.

(4/2/2015) Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard scored 18 points on 7 of 14 shooting while dishing out 10 assists in his team's 126-122 loss to the Clippers Wednesday.

The double-double was just Lillard's second since the All-Star break, though he's managed to rack up at least 10 assists in three of his last five games. He also grabbed three rebounds in 36 minutes in the loss, which brought the Blazers' four-game winning streak to an end.

Portland will face another Los Angeles team next, hitting the road to match up with the Lakers Friday.

(3/25/2015) Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard scored a team-high 23 points on 6 of 16 shooting while dishing out 12 assists in his team's 92-89 win over the Jazz Wednesday.

"I don't think it's a big win like we just beat Golden State or something like that, but it's a big win because of the five-game losing streak," Lillard said after the game, per the Associated Press. "It came down to the last few minutes of the game and we haven't been great in that timeframe, closing games the last month or so. But with the losing streak, on the road, against a team that's been playing well, it's a big win in that way."

Lillard nearly managed a triple-double, hauling in eight rebounds in the win while also chipping in a steal. The double-double was his first since the end of January.

The Blazers are set to square off with the Suns Friday in Phoenix.

(3/24/2015) Despite leading the team in minutes as well as coming off a five-game road trip, Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard said he is not feeling fatigued, reports csnnw.com.

"I'm fine," Lillard said. "I would tell you if I was worn down or [fatigued]."

Lillard has not missed a game this season and is averaging 36.2 minutes per game. With the Blazers in the midst of a four-game losing streak, Lillard said his play needs to improve regardless of how he feels.

"I got to play better," Lillard said. "I don't want to blame a four-game losing streak on, 'I'm tired' or 'this is hurting or that's hurting.'"

Lillard had an awful night shooting, hitting just 1 of his 13 shots from the field. He hit three of his four free throws, finishing with just 5 points. Lillard made up for that by setting a career-high with 18 boards. His previous career-high of 10 rebounds was set back in December of 2014. Lillard also had four assists dueing the contest.

(2/20/2015) Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard scored 19 points on 7 of 15 shooting from the field in Portland's 92-76 loss to the Jazz Friday. Lillard, who also shot 3 of 9 from 3-point range, turned the ball over five times.

The third-year guard didn't do much in the way of passing the ball, dishing out just two assists for the second consecutive game. He added four rebounds to his totals.

"We didn't take great care of the ball," Lillard said. "We didn't shoot the ball well and that gave them energy. They took advantage of us turning the ball over and it didn't help that we didn't shoot well in the half court either."

Lillard also added five rebounds and five assists to his totals. In his last five games, Lillard is averaging 21.2 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds. He and the Trail Blazers will look to stay hot Wednesday against the Lakers.

(2/8/2015) It looks like Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard will be going to the All-Star game after all. The team announced Sunday that Lillard has been named as a replacement for Blake Griffin, who has been ruled out of the game. 

It is Lillard's second All-Star selection. In 51 games, Lillard is averaging 21.6 points and 6.3 assists.

(2/6/2015) Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard is in the midst of the worst shooting slump of his career, after missing all five of his attempts from downtown in Thursday's 108-87 victory to Phoenix. He has missed 17 consecutive 3-pointers and is shooting 18.8 percent from three-point range in the last 11 games.

Lillard told the Oregonian that the only solution to break out of his slump is to "keep shooting the ball."

"It's funny because it feels good when I shoot it," Lillard said. "I think it's just one of those stretches I'm having, and the ball isn't going in.

"At first, I was missing short. Now, I'm holding my shot and I'm missing long sometimes. But the good thing for me, as a shooter, is I'm not missing left and right."

Lillard was unable to find his stroke Friday, shooting less than 40 percent for the sixth straight game, while also turning the ball over six times. He did manage to tally six rebounds, three steals and one block in his 40 minutes of action while matching his season high for assists and posting his third double-double of the season. Lillard will look to get back on track Saturday against the Bucks.

(1/30/2015) Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard said Friday he's not happy about being passed over the All-Star game this season.

"I just felt disrespected," Lillard said, "because I play the game the right way. I play unselfishly. I play for my team to win games and I produce at a high level. I think what I bring to the game as a person, my makeup mentally, how I am towards my teammates, how I am towards the media, how I am towards fans, I think what an All-Star represents in this league and what you would want people to look at as an All-Star, I think I makeup all those things."

Lillard is averaging 21.8 points per game, 14th best in the league, and 6.2 assists per game.

"I thought I did all that I could do individually," Lillard said. "I thought my team has been successful. It was something that I can’t control. Everything thing I can control to give myself the best shot, I did."

"I'm definitely gonna take it personal," Lillard said Friday.

Lillard is averaging 21.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. Chris Paul, James Harden and Klay Thompson were the other guards selected as reserve players for the All-Star game on Feb. 15.

He also did well on the boards, grabbing six rebounds. Lillard also dished out five assists and recorded three steals. He and the Blazers will look to keep rolling Wednesday against the Suns.

(1/9/2015) Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard believes he will not miss any time after suffering a back injury in Thursday's game against the Heat. He left the game briefly, but was able to return and score 16 points and dish out three assists.

Lillard said on Jim Rome is back is sore after twisting it, but he doesn’t think he’ll miss any time.

The point guard is averaging 22.1 points, 6.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game this season.

Lillard hit four treys, and scored 16 points in the final period to seal the win. He went 12 of 21 from the field, including 4 of 8 from downtown and 11 of 13 from the charity stripe. He also contributed with six rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block while logging 39 minutes of game action.

Lillard has scored 39-plus points in three of his past nine games. He is averaging 24.0 points, 7.2 assists and 5.0 rebounds over his last five games.

Lillard delivered a near-double-double in the win, racking up nine assists while adding five rebounds and one steal in 33 minutes. He also turned the ball over a season-high seven times, but the Blazers still managed a blowout victory. They've won seven of their last eight games heading into Sunday's matchup against the Knicks.

(12/19/2014) Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard scored a career-high 43 points on 16 of 29 shooting, including 4 of 9 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 129-119 triple-overtime win over the Spurs Friday.

Lillard scored the his team's final eight points of the fourth quarter, including a lay-up with just one second left on the clock to send the game into overtime. He tied the game again with a three-pointer with 13 second left on the clock in first overtime, extending the game yet again. Lillard scored nine points in overtime No. 3 to finally put the Spurs away (the Blazers fired up 17 points in the final OT period as a team) and notch the best scoring performance of his career.

Lillard played a whopping 53 minutes in the triple-overtime affair, kicking in six assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block. The Blazers get no rest Saturday, staying on the road to face the Pelicans.
