Andrew Nicholson's struggles continue

(1/21/2014) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson continued to struggle Tuesday against the Nets, as he hit just one of his field-goal attempts in a 101-90 loss.

Nicholson, who did not even appear in the team's previous game, played 15 minutes in the blowout loss. He scored two points on 1 of 6 shooting, including missing his two three-point attempts. He added two rebounds and one assist in the game.

Nicholson has been mired in an extended slump, dating back to the end of December. In his last 15 games, he is averaging just 3.8 points per game while shooting just 30.7 percent from the field.

(12/31/2013) After tallying 12 minutes over his previous three games, Magic forward Andrew Nicholson finally cracked into the rotation during Tuesday's loss to the Warriors.

Nicholson scored five points on 2 of 6 shooting, including 1 of 3 from downtown. His lone 3-pointer came from the left corner with 33 seconds left in the fourth quarter. He also chipped in with three rebounds while logging 14 minutes of game action in a 94-81 defeat. Nicholson has been held to single-digit scoring in each of his last seven games.

(12/13/2013) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson could be facing some discipline from the league in the next few days, after he earned an ejection from Friday's game against the Cavaliers. With the game over, Nicholson pushed Anderson Varejao under the basket, earning a Flagrant 2 and an ejection.

Nicholson finished the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes of action, while shooting 4 of 12 from the field. He added two 3-pointers and one assist prior to being tossed.

(12/10/2013) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson had arguably his best game of the season Monday, in a 94-85 loss to the Grizzlies. Nicholson recorded his second double-double of the season, matching a season-high in both points (19) and rebounds (11) in 37 minutes of action.

Nicholson is now averaging 10.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, despite playing just 21.8 minutes per game in his sophomore season.

(12/6/2013) With Nikola Vucevic sidelined by an ankle injury, Andrew Nicholson stepped into the starting lineup for the Magic Friday against the Knicks. He played 28 minutes in a 121-83 loss.

Nicholson shot the bell well, going 4 of 6 from the field for eight points, but he didn't do much else. He added just three rebounds and one block, while turning the ball over twice. Nicholson has improved his play in his second season, averaging 9.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game through the first 19 contests.

(11/24/2013) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson scored a season-high 19 points on 5 of 8 shooting, including 3 of 4 from behind the arc, in his team's 104-96 loss to the Suns Sunday.

Nicholson added eight rebounds to his line and hit all six of his free throws while playing 24 minutes. He has averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds over 13 games.

(11/9/2013) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson enjoyed another sharp performance off the bench during Saturday's contest against the Hawks.

Nicholson went 5 of 9 shooting from the field, including 0 of 1 from downtown, and 3 of 5 from the charity stripe. He finished the game as the team's second-leading scorer with 13 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal while logging 26 minutes of game action in a 104-94 defeat.

Nicholson has scored in double figures in four of the team's first seven games. He is averaging 10.8 points and 8.2 rebounds over his last five games played.

(11/3/2013) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson recorded his second career double-double off the bench in his team's 107-86 win over the Nets Sunday, scoring 17 points on 6 of 13 shooting and racking up 11 rebounds and one block in 26 minutes.

Nicholson has played a key role for the Magic with the team's injury issues at the forward position in the early-going, averging 23.5 minutes of work over the team's first four games.

(10/29/2013) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson provided a spark off the bench early on during Tuesday's season opener against the Pacers in Indianapolis.

Nicholson checked into the game late in the first quarter for Jason Maxiell, who got the start. He kept the team in the game during first half as he exploded for 12 points in the second quarter and finished the first half with 18 points.

Head coach Jacque Vaughn kept Nicholson on the bench for the entire third quarter. He played the final quarter of the game but only grabbed one rebound and missed his only shot attempt -- a layup with 5:22 remaining in the game. He went 8 of 10 shooting from the field and finished the game with 18 points, four rebounds and a steal while logging 19 minutes of game action in a 97-87 defeat.

(10/16/2013) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson made the most of his first start of the preseason Wednesday against the Rockets, as he showed off his newly improved jump shot.

Nicholson played 27 minutes in the game, scoring 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting. He nailed three 3-pointers in four tries, three more than he made during his entire rookie season. He added nine rebounds and a blocked shot as well.

Nicholson is battling for playing time in a deep frontcourt, and is averaging just 20.0 minutes per game in four preseason games, seventh on the team. He is averaging 8.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 56.0 percent from the field and 5 of 8 overall on three-point attempts.

(4/24/2013) Magic forward Andrew Nicholson played an inconsistent role as a rookie, but he still managed to find plenty of success as the No. 23 overall pick. Nicholson finished his rookie season averaging 7.8 points per game on 52.7 shooing from the field. He led the team in shooting accuracy, while attempting the seventh-most field goals on the team. He added 3.4 rebounds per game, while playing just 16.7 minutes per game.
