Magic C Channing Frye set to make debut, Kyle O'Quinn inactive

(10/30/2014) Magic center Channing Frye is in the starting lineup and is set to make his debut Thursday night at home against the Wizards. Frye sat out the season opener against the Pelicans because of an MCL sprain. The team also ruled Kyle O'Quinn (ankle) inactive for Orlando's home opener.

(10/29/2014) Magic forward Kyle O'Quinn was held out of practice Wednesday after suffering a sprained ankle Tuesday against the Pelicans. Despite the injury, O'Quinn hopes to play in Thursday's home opener against the Wizards, according to the team's official website.

(10/18/2014) Magic coach Jacque Vaughn has given forward Kyle O'Quinn the green light to shoot 3-pointers this season. According to the Orlando Sentinel, O'Quinn incorporated the long-range to his arsenal over the offseason in order to help his team stretch the floor. He has converted all three of his attempts from downtown in the preseason.

"It could open up a lot of things," O’Quinn said.

(4/6/2014) Magic forward Kyle O'Quinn put together one of his most productive games of the season Saturday, in a 100-92 win over the Timberwolves.

He recorded just his second double-double of the season, and put together a strong performance overall. He scored 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting and added 13 rebounds, while blocking four shots, and dishing out one assist with one steal in 31 minutes.  

After appearing in 57 games last season, O'Quinn has seen his role increase. He is averaging 5.6 points and 5.0 rebounds in 64 games.

(3/12/2014) Magic forward Kyle O'Quinn has been producing as a member of the starting lineup recently, and he nearly threw up a double-double Wednesday against the Magic.

O'Quinn played 27 minutes in his start, finishing with 10 points on 5 of 8 shooting, while adding eight rebounds. He also tossed in a pair of blocks and one assist, while turning the ball over twice in the 120-112 loss.

O'Quinn has now scored in double figures in consecutive games, and is averaging 9.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game over the last five. He is still averaging just 5.1 points and 4.8 rebounds for the season, while appearing in 52 of the first 66 games.

(3/1/2014) Magic power forward Kyle O'Quinn was all over the glass on Saturday, securing his first double-double of the season in a 112-98 loss to the Heat in Miami.

O'Quinn scored 14 points on 6 of 10 from the floor, and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He grabbed 15 boards, with six of them coming from the offensive end of the glass. He also added two assists, two steals and one block while logging 22 minutes of game action.

O'Quinn has three career double-doubles. He is averaging 8.4 points and 7.0 rebounds over his last five games.

(2/25/2014) Magic forward Kyle O'Quinn put together a solid performance off the bench Tuesday against the Wizards, as he reached double figures in scoring for the third time in four games.

O'Quinn scored his 10 points efficiently on 4 of 6 shooting, and fell just one rebound short of a double-double in 21 minutes. He added one assist and one blocked shot in the 115-106 loss.

O'Quinn has been playing a bit more in the month of February, but is hardly doing much with his increased playing time. He is averaging 6.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 19.1 minutes per game.

(2/7/2014) Magic forward Kyle O'Quinn scored nine points on 4 of 7 shooting in his team's 103-102 win over the Thunder Friday.

It was the best offensive performance in 10 games for O'Quinn, who also recorded three rebounds, two steals and one assist in 18 minutes Friday. He has averaged 4.4 points and 4.0 rebounds over 39 games played.

(1/21/2014) Magic forward Kyle O'Quinn put together another solid game Tuesday against the Nets, his third double-digit scoring effort in the last four.

O'Quinn played 24 minutes in the game and shot the ball well consistently. He scored 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting, and added eight rebounds, one assist and two blocks, as he filled the box score up well in a 101-90 loss.

O'Quinn is averaging just 11.0 minutes per game for the season, but has seen a big boost in playing time recently. He is averaging 11.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 22.3 minutes per game over the last four games.

(11/24/2013) The Magic have activated forward Tobias Harris and deactivated forward Kyle O'Quinn for Sunday's game against the Suns, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Harris is set to make his season debut after averaging 17.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 27 games with the Magic last season. He has been sidelined with a sprained ankle. O'Quinn is also battling an ankle injury.

(11/16/2013) Magic forward Kyle O'Quinn suffered an ankle injury in Wednesday's game, and has been unable to practice over the last few days. As a result, he will not be available for Saturday's game against the Mavericks. The extent of the injury is not yet known.

O'Quinn appeared in the team's first nine games, averaging 5.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in just 13.4 minutes per game.

(10/10/2013) As the Magic try to figure out their rotation in the front court, it was second-year player Kyle O'Quinn who got the start at power forward in Wednesday's preseason opener. 

O'Quinn, who is more known for his defense than offense, didn't do much to change that Wednesday. He finished with just four points and three rebounds in 28-plus minutes of action, in a 99-96 loss.

O'Quinn is battling for playing time with a host of other young players, after averaging just 4.1 points and 3.7 rebounds in 57 games as a rookie.
