Papanikolaou has missed five games while recovering from an MCL sprain. He has averaged 6.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 19 games.

Rockets upgrade Canaan, Papanikolaou to questionable for Wednesday

(12/16/2014) Rockets guard Isaiah Canaan and forward Kostas Papanikolaou have been upgraded to questionable for Wednesday's game against the Nuggets. Francisco Garcia and Terrence Jones will be out.

Canaan, who was able to return to practice Monday, has missed the Rockets last nine games with an ankle injury, while Papanikolaou has missed the last four with a knee injury. 


Trevor Ariza among probable Rockets for Denver game

(12/13/2014) Rockets guard Trevor Ariza has been listed as probable for Saturday's game against the Nuggets, despite nursing a bruised right knee, reports the Houston Chronicle. Ariza is averaging 14.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists through 22 games played. His big man, Dwight Howard (knee) was also upgraded to probable.

Meanwhile, Isaiah Canaan (ankle), Francisco Garcia (ankle), Kostas Papanikolaou (knee) and Terrence Jones (knee) will remain sidelined against Denver.

(12/12/2014) The Rockets will be without Isaiah Canaan, Francisco Garcia, Kostas Papanikolaou and Terrence Jones for Saturday's game against the Nuggets.

Canaan was hoping to play Saturday, but has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Garcia is also dealing with an ankle injury. 

Papanikolaou and Jones are still expected to miss a bit more time. 


Rockets' Kostas Papanikolaou out 'couple of weeks' with MCL sprain

(12/8/2014) Rockets small forward Kostas Papanikolaou has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 right MCL sprain, and injury that could keep him sidelined "a couple of weeks," according to Howard Chen of CBS Houston.

"It's a first degree, sprained MCL," Papanikolaou said. "Things could be even worse. I'm happy that it's that way. It looks like it'll be a couple of weeks, like 10-14 days to get back. We have a great staff in the back doing a great job and they will do their best in order for me to come back as soon as possible."

Garcia suffered an ankle injury Saturday against the Suns and had to leave the game.

The Rockets also ruled Isaiah Canaan (ankle), Terrence Jones (knee) and Kostas Papanikolaou (knee) out.

(12/8/2014) Rockets coach Kevin McHale told reporters he has not been given a prognosis on small forward Kostas Papanikolaou's knee injury, according to the Houston Chronicle. Papanikolaou suffered a Grade 1 knee sprain on Friday against Minnesota and hasn't been able to return. Per the paper, the injury could keep Papanikolaou sidelined for approximately one-to-two weeks.

(12/5/2014) Rockets small forward Kostas Papanikolaou suffered a right knee strain in Friday's overtime win over the Timberwolves and did not return.

Papanikolaou played 26 minutes off the bench before the injury, scoring 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting and tallying four rebounds, one assist and one block. The Rockets square off with the Suns Saturday, but the small forward is set to be evaluated further in Houston that day before it can be determined how soon he can return, the Houston Chronicle reports.


Rockets' Kostas Papanikolaou scores season-high 19 vs. Lakers

(11/20/2014) Rockets small forward Kostas Papanikolaou scored a season-high 19 points on 6 of 10 shooting, including 4 of 7 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 98-92 loss to the Lakers Wednesday.

Papanikolaou had scored in double digits just twice this season entering play Wednesday and delivered back-to-back scoreless appearances over the weekend before scoring eight points Monday. However, he was able to catch fire from downtown, sinking four three-pointers for the third time this season. He also recorded six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 34 minutes off the bench. The Rockets will look to bounce back Saturday against the Mavericks.

Papanikolaou gets $4.8 million guaranteed in the upcoming season, with a team option of $4.6 million for the following season. He has been playing in Europe since being drafted in the second round of the 2012 draft.
