Thomas Robinson provides boost off the bench in 76ers win

(2/27/2015) In just his second game with the 76ers, Thomas Robinson's spark off the bench helped lead his new team to a 89-81 win over the Wizards, Friday.  

Robinson was acquired on waivers from the Nuggets on Tuesday.

He made the most of limited playing time on Friday, scoring nine points and grabbing nine rebounds in just 13 minutes. That included a five-point outburst in just three minutes of action as the Sixers iced the game in the fourth quarter. 

"He's got energy," Sixers coach Brett Brown said of Robinson's production. 

The Sixers next play at the Pacers on Sunday night. 


76ers' Thomas Robinson available to play Wednesday

(2/25/2015) 76ers forward Thomas Robinson is in Milwaukee and could see minutes in the team's matchup with the Bucks Wednesday, Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia reports.

Robinson was claimed off waivers Tuesday, and his addition allows the 76ers to reach the salary floor. He averaged 12.2 minutes in 32 games with the Blazers before being traded to Denver last week, recording 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

(2/24/2015) The 76ers claimed forward Thomas Robinson off waivers Tuesday, the team announced. In 32 games for the Nuggets, Robinson averaged 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds.

Robinson will reportedly meet the team in Milwaukee on Wednesday and be available to play in Wednesday's game at Milwaukee, reports The Inquirer

To make room for Robinson, the 76ers also announced Tim Frazier has been released.

Robinson was acquired by the club on Thursday, but may not stay for long. The 23-year-old will attempt to have his contract bought out in order to become a free-agent. Robinson is hoping to join a contender so he can improve his value as he approaches free agency. It's unclear whether Denver has any interest in a possible buyout. 

Robinson is averaging 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.


Nuggets send Arron Afflalo, Alonzo Gee to Blazers

(2/19/2015) The Nuggets agreed to trade guard Arron Afflalo and forward Alonzo Gee to the Trail Blazers, league sources confirmed to CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger.

In exchange for Afflalo and Gee, the Trail Blazers will send Will Barton, Victor Claver and a 2016 lottery-protected first-round pick to Denver. If the pick is not traded by 2017, it would turn into two second-round picks. The Nuggets will also receive Thomas Robinson.

(1/20/2015) Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge saw a hand specialist Wednesday and will undergo an MRI later this week, the team announced.

Aldridge suffered a thumb injury during Monday’s game and could not finish the game, but X-rays came back negative. He has already been ruled out of Wednesday’s game at Phoenix and there is no timetable on his return. Forward Thomas Robinson is expected to see his role increase if Aldridge continues to miss time.


Blazers' Freeland expected to miss two weeks with shoulder injury

(1/4/2015) An MRI confirmed Trail Blazers center Joel Freeland suffered a right shoulder strain during Saturday’s loss to the Hawks, the team announced.

Freeland is expected to be out of action for the next two weeks. In 31 games, he is averaging 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. Center Chris Kaman and forward Thomas Robinson could see an increase in minutes while Freeland is sidelined.

Aldridge is dealing with an upper respiratory illness. In 27 games, Aldridge is averaging 22.8 points and 10.7 rebounds. If Alrdige is unable to play, forward Thomas Robinson is expected to fill Aldridge’s role. In 13 games, Robinson is averaging 4.2 points and 4.3 rebounds.

(12/18/2014) Trail Blazers power forward Thomas Robinson scored a season-high 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the field and 5 of 15 shooting from the free-throw line while racking up a season-high 16 rebounds in his team's 104-97 win over the Bucks Wednesday.

Robinson had played just 76 minutes in 10 games this season before the Blazers decided to mix things up Wednesday, deactivating center Robin Lopez and thrusting Robinson into the starting lineup. The defense decided to take its chances at the charity stripe with the career 54 percent free-throw shooter and the gambit largely paid off, though the Blazers still managed the win. Robinson also had one assist, one steal and one block in his 29 minutes of action Wednesday. The Blazers' next matchup comes Friday against the Spurs.

The team announced shortly after the game he was diagnosed with a left patella tendon strain, and is a gametime decision for Wednesday against the Nets

Robinson finished the game with just two points on 1 of 5 shooting, with five rebounds. He is averaging just 7.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per game over the last four, but an injury to him would leave the Blazers even more shorthanded in the frontcourt.
