News: Hawks rookie forward Mike Scott turned in his best offensive game of the season during Saturday's contest against the Spurs. Scott finished with 22 points in the 99-97 win on 8 of 15 shooting from the field. He did miss on his lone attempt from behind the arc, but did add six rebounds and two assists to his stat line, while logging 36 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Scott turned in another solid outing Saturday night and has shown some promise some flashes of his potential over the past few weeks. However, owners should take this performance with a grain of salt. Keep in mind Atlanta only had eight healthy bodies available with Josh Smith, Al Horford, Kyle Korver and Devin Harris all out with injuries. While Scott looks to have all the necessary tools to be a big-time performer in this league, he should only be owned in deeper long-term keeper formats at this point in the year.
News: Hawks forward Mike Scott got a chance to show what he can do on the basketball court during Friday's contest against the Celtics. Scott scored a career-high 19 points in the 118-107 loss on 6 of 10 shooting from the field. He went 7 of 8 from the charity stripe and also added three rebounds to his stat line, while logging 23 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Scott hasn't seen a ton of run this season as he only logged more than 15 minutes this season on two previous occasions entering Friday's tilt. While Scott has a ton of upside, we wouldn't get too excited about his latest outing. Scott will likely go back to his reserve role moving forward, which saw him score a combined 14 points over his last six games. As this point in the season, Scott should only be owned in deeper long-term keeper formats.
News: The Hawks recalled power forward Mike Scott from the D-League on Wednesday, reports InsideHoops.com. Scott last played for the Hawks on Feb. 25 at Detroit.
Analysis: Scott has played in 25 games for the Hawks this season and is averaging 3.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. He has almost zero Fantasy value.
News: Hoping to provide additional minutes to forward Mike Scott, Hawks coach Larry Drew has been inserting the rookie at the small forward position as he is blocked at his natural position behind Josh Smith, Al Horford and Ivan Johnson. "I dont want to throw too much at him too fast," Drew told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "He is still trying to learn the four (power forward) spot. But in what we do at times three (small forward) and four can be interchangeable. It wouldnt be a lot for him to make the adjustment."
Analysis: Drew indicated he would employ the tactic depending on matchups as Scott's playing time has fluctuated recently. He saw a career-high 22 minutes last Monday against Minnesota before not playing at all in Sunday's loss to New York. "I still need to work on guarding smaller guards and quicker players," Scott said. "I think its just defense. Offensively it is going to come natural to me. Defensively, guarding the post and being able to slide out to the perimeter that is going to be the challenge." Scott has displayed the ability to hit shots effectively and Fantasy owners in deeper formats should track his progress.
News: Hawks power forward Mike Scott played well on Monday during a win over the Wolves. Scott scored 11 points over 22 minutes off the bench as he shot 5 of 8 from the field. Scott grabbed seven rebounds to compliment the scoring and added an assist and two steals in the game for Atlanta.
Analysis: Scott played a total of 14 minutes in the previous three Atlanta games. He clearly played above his usual level on Monday. Unless he keeps getting minutes, we expect Scott to remain closer to minimal production than being a worthy option in Fantasy leagues.
News: Hawks forward Mike Scott led his team in scoring on Monday against the Bulls. The rookie finished with a career-high 10 points in 16 minutes off the bench. He was an efficient 4 of 5 from the field and made both of his free throws. Scott also posted three rebounds and an assist in the 97-58 loss.
Analysis: Scott played in just his 14th game of the season on Monday and does not have much of a role in Atlanta at this point. That being the case, continue to ignore the 24-year-old in the majority of Fantasy formats.
