Knicks waive Chris Smith, sign Jeremy Tyler

(12/31/2013) The struggling New York Knicks decided to be proactive about their old and often-injured frontcourt, as they announced Tuesday the team had officially let go of guard Chris Smith, JR's younger brother, to sign 22-year-old center Jeremy Tyler .

The 6-foot-10 Tyler played with the Knicks during the summer league but has spent the start of the season with New York's D-League affiliate, the Erie Bayhawks. Smith has only logged two minutes of game time this season.
