Report: Suns sign Mirza Teletovic to one-year deal

(7/9/2015) After the Nets rescinded their qualifying offer, forward Mirza Teletovic agreed to a one-year, $5.5 million contract with the Suns, sources told NBA.com.

By rescinding the offer, the Nets can no longer match the Suns' offer. Teletovic averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 40 games last season.

By extending the offer, Teletovic is now considered a restricted free agent and the Nets can match any outside offer for Teletovic.

(5/6/2015) Nets general manager Billy King is planning on giving power forward Mirza Teletovic a qualifying offer, ESPN has reported.

The Bosnian import can be a free agent, but has expressed an interest in staying with Brooklyn.

Teletovic lost three months of the regular season to blood clots before returning to earn a bit of playing time in the playoff loss to Atlanta. He averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 22 minutes per game this season.

(4/24/2015) Nets forward Mirza Teletovic made his return to the court in Game 2, playing four minutes while grabbing two rebounds and failing to score a point. He said after the game that trying to catch up to the speed and intensity of a playoff game was difficult after his lengthy absence, the New York Post reports.

"I tried to go out there and not [make] too many mistakes," Teletovic said. "I guess I made some. I realize that when you come back after three months everything is new to you."

Teletovic was sidelined for three months after being diagnosed with blood clots. Coach Lionel Hollins said he wasn't on the court enough Wednesday to make an impact either way.

"There was nothing to evaluate," Hollins said. "If he’d made two shots, I would say he made two shots that really helped us. But he wasn’t out there long enough to do anything else."

Teletovic averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds during the regular season. He'll likely be in line for limited action in Game 3 against the Hawks Saturday.

(4/22/2015) Nets forward Mirza Teletovic is active for Game 2 against the Hawks Wednesday, the New York Daily News reports.

Teletovic hasn't played since January due to blood clots in his lungs, and he expects his stamina to need some adjustment once he enters Wednesday's game.

"I'm 100 percent sure it's going to be tough," Teletovic said, per Newsday. "The first three, four minutes is going to be a hell of a ride."

Teletovic played 40 games during the regular season, averaging 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds.

(4/20/2015) Nets forward Mirza Teletovic was able to go through practice with his team on Monday, according to ESPN.com. 

Teletovic has been out since late January due to blood clots that developed in his lungs. He's been on blood thinners, though recent blood analysis came back as normal. He's been cleared for basketball activities. 

"I feel pretty good," Teletovic said, via NorthJersey.com. "I mean, people think that I’ve been sitting the last three months. I didn’t really. Like after the first three weeks I was out I started working out and I’m in pretty good shape for now."

It still seems unlikely he'll be able to play against the Hawks in Game 2 on Wednesday. 

“Now it’s more up to coaches,” Teletovic said. “Because they have the team they play for the last three months and they’ve been functioning pretty good and now if they don’t me to be lagging kind of behind or something like that. So, i mean, it’s their decision. I think they know what they’re doing.”

(4/17/2015) Mirza Teletovic has been cleared to return to basketball activities with the Nets. Teletovic has been out since late January with blood clots in his lungs. 

Teletovic has been on blood thinners, and doctors said, "follow-up testing has met our expectations. The most recent bloodwork was normal," per NBA.com.

The Nets still intend to list Teletovic as "out" for their playoff games for the forseeable future.

Teletovic told ESPN.com's Mike Mazzeo that the clots originated in his hip. He hopes to return in six months. 

Teletovic will be a free agent after the season, but he said he would like to return to the Nets. 


Nets expect Mirza Teletovic to make 'full recovery'

(1/28/2015) While Nets forward Mirza Teletovic will miss the remainder of the season because of blood clots in his lungs, Nets team physician Dr. Michael Farber said he expects Teletovic to make a full recovery.

"Mirza was diagnosed with pulmonary embolus on January 22 and started on the appropriate medications for this condition," Dr. Farber said. "Diagnostic testing was arranged and he was then observed until testing showed that he reached the expected therapeutic range. We are pleased to say that he reports no symptoms at this time and that he will be discharged to return home today."

Teletovic is expected to be ready for next season. In 40 games, he averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds.

"This was a true collaborative effort between our medical team and training staff and the local physicians at the Los Angeles hospital where Mirza was treated," Dr Farber said. "I am really pleased with how Mirza has progressed. We will evaluate him upon return, personally review all of the testing he had done, and arrange for further testing if necessary."

(1/25/2015) Nets teammates of Mirza Teletovic couldn't have been more surprised by the news of condition Saturday. Teletovic was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs, which will force him to miss the remainder of the season.

"It was very shocking," Joe Johnson said, "because I’ve honestly never heard of athletes, especially when you are working out and training hard every day, catching blood clots.

"It’s random and just to hear that and then hear some of the things that he said over the course of the past week of so about how he can’t breathe. … It’s kind of scary."

Bojan Bogdanovic, who grew up in the same town as Teltovic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, knew he had some issues, but not to this extent.

"It surprised me a lot because I knew he had some problems, but he told me that he wasn’t in good shape and he told me that’s the problem," Bogdanovic said. "But at the end [of the day], it’s a big problem for him and for us."

Teletovic averaged 8.5 points and 4.9 rebounds this season for Brooklyn.

(1/23/2015) The Nets announced Friday that Mirza Teletovic was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary embolus, per the team's official website. Teletovic will begin treatment, which includes blood thinners. He will be lost for the remainder of the season.

Teletovic was taken to the hospital during Thursday's game against the Clippers after experiencing shortness of breath. He underwent a series of tests including a CT scan, which revealed multiple blood clots on the lungs.

The third-year forward will finish the season with averages of 8.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 22.3 minutes through 40 contests.

Teletovic was able to play eight minutes before leaving. He missed all three of his shots, finishing with no points. He added one rebound and one assist during the contest.

Garnett is likely just receiving a night of rest after playing Tuesday, as he did during the second half of his team's last back-to-back Saturday. Alan Anderson and Mirza Teletovic will join Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Mason Plumlee in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Teletovic has missed the last three games with a hip pointer. In 19 games, Teletovic is averaging 10.7 points and 5.3 rebounds.

In two of the three games Teletovic missed, forward Cory Jefferson played more than 20 minutes in a game for the first time this season. Teletovic scored 20 points in the regular-season opener but hadn't been able to get back to that level since before getting hot Saturday. His 14 field-goal attempts topped his previous season-high of 12 shots set Friday. Teletovic also racked up eight rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes in the loss. He has just one game scheduled in the next seven games, coming Wednesday against the 76ers.

Teletovic has chipped in several sharpshooting performances like his production in the opener in the past, though overall he managed to shoot just 41.8 percent from the field last season. He also recorded six rebounds, two blocks and one assist in the loss. The Nets will face the Pistons Saturday.
