Maalik Wayns plays three minutes in debut Wednesday

(1/9/2014) Clippers guard Maalik Wayns made his season debut Wednesday, missing his only shot and recording one assist in three minutes of action in his team's 111-105 win over the Celtics.

Wayns was waived on Sunday but re-signed to a 10-day contract before Wednesday's game. He required surgery on a torn meniscus that kept him sidelined for the first two months of the season.

(1/8/2014) The Clippers have signed guard Maalik Wayns to a 10-day deal, the team announced Wednesday. Hewas previous waived by the Clippers Sunday and has yet to play in a game this season.

Wayns was sidelined for the first two months of the season while recovering from surgery on a torn meniscus. He was available for the first time this season one week ago but didn't see any action before being waived.

Wayns averaged 2.8 points over 27 games while shooting 29.5 percent from the field in his rookie season.

(1/4/2014) Even with Chris Paul nursing a shoulder injury, Clippers guard Maalik Wayns is still not ready to join the rotation, head coach Doc Rivers said Saturday, according to the team's official website. Outside of Darren Collison, Wayns is the only other true point guard on the roster. He was ruled inactive for Saturday's game against the Spurs.

Wayns, who is still working his way back from surgery on his left meniscus, which he tore in the second quarter of an Oct. 14 preseason game in Sacramento, was activated Wednesday against Charlotte for the first time this season but received a DNP -- coach's decision. He has yet to play a game this season.

Wayns was cleared earlier in the week after suffering a torn meniscus in the preseason that required surgery, which caused him to miss the first two-plus months of the season. With Chris Paul dealing with a shoulder, Wayns could break into the rotation.
