Report: 76ers decline option on Henry Sims

(6/30/2015) The 76ers will not offer center Henry Sims a qualifying offer, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Sims will become an unrestricted free agent. In 73 games last season, Sims averaged 8.0 points and 4.9 rebounds.

(3/13/2015) The continued emergence of several players has cut into the development of center Henry Sims, who has not played due to coach's decision in the last three games, per the Philadelphia Inquirer

Sims, who is averaging 8.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 19.7 minutes of action, has seen his time instead go to forward Furkan Aldemir

"I would suspect that he wouldn't be (OK with becoming a bystander)," 76ers coach Brett Brown said. "I wouldn't blame or begrudge him at all. He's a competitor."


76ers' Noel, Sims, Mbah a Moute set to play Friday

(1/23/2015) 76ers small forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (toe) and centers Nerlens Noel (illness) and Henry Sims (ankle) are all set to play Friday against the Raptors, Sixers.com reports.

Noel, who was considered probable to play, missed Wednesday's loss to the Knicks. Sims was deemed questionable after playing 32 minutes Wednesday, while Mbah a Moute was also listed as questionable after missing the team's last two games.

The Sixers are 13-point home underdogs against the Raptors Friday.

Philadelphia is an 11 1/2-point home underdog against Toronto.

Mbah a Moute is suffering from a left knee contusion. In 35 games, Mbah a Moute is averaging 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds. Henry Sims has been starting in place of Mbah a Moute.

The double-double was the second of the season for Sims, who also doubled up on Dec. 21 in Orlando. He chipped in one assist and one steal in 17 minutes in the loss. The 76ers are set to square off with the Wizards Monday.

(3/23/2014) 76ers center Henry Sims put together another solid performance Saturday against the Bulls, in a 91-81 loss.

Sims posted his second double-double in a row in the losing effort, as he scored 18 points on 8 of 15 shooting and added 15 rebounds in 31 minutes. He also blocked a pair of shots and added two assists.

Sims is averaging 10.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in the month of March.

(3/13/2014) 76ers center Henry Sims has blossomed as a starter, and put together his finest performance as a professional Wednesday against the Kings.

Sims was probably the Sixers best player, leading the team in scoring and rebounding in 31 minutes of action. He dropped in 20 points on 5 of 12 shooting while going 10 for 11 at the free-throw line, and also added 10 rebounds. The big man filled up the box score well, with three assists, two blocks and three steals in a 115-98 loss.

Sims has scored in double figures five times in eight games since joining the 76ers. He is averaging 9.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game since the trade.

(2/26/2014) After coming over from Cleveland in a deadline deal, 76ers center Henry Sims scored a season-high 10 points on 4 of 9 shooting while playing a season-high 23 minutes in his team's 101-90 loss to the Magic Wednesday.

Sims drew his first start at center for his new team, grabbing six rebounds and blocking one shot while posting his first double-digit scoring performance of the season. He has averaged 2.6 points and 9.7 minutes over 22 games played.

(2/2/2014) With Anderson Varejao limited by a knee injury, little-used reserve center Henry Sims has been seeing more playing time in recent games.

Sims played 21 minutes off the bench Saturday against the Rockets, his second game in a row with 20-plus minutes played. He scored seven points on 3 of 7 shooting in the game and added six rebounds, both of which are season-high totals. The Cavaliers lost the game, 106-92.

Sims has appeared in 15 games this season, and has never had a consistent role before now. He will likely return to the bench when Varejao is healthy enough to return.
