News: With the Heat resting some of their stars down the stretch, the bench players have gotten the opportunity to make their mark. Veteran forward Rashard Lewis has taken advantage recently, scoring 14 points on back to back nights Friday and Saturday. He scored 14 on 6 of 10 shooting Saturday against the 76ers, with seven rebounds and three assists in just 26 minutes. Lewis made a pair of 3-pointers, in a 106-87 win.
Analysis: Lewis is putting up some solid numbers for the Heat recently, but he has been a total nonfactor for much of the season. He started seven games earlier in the year, but is averaging just 4.0 points per game, his lowest total since 1998-99. Lewis should be ignored in all Fantasy formats heading into the offseason.
News: Heat forward Rashard Lewis failed to make much of an impact out his time off the bench in Tuesday's contest against the Hawks. Lewis saw just six minutes of game action and missed a hook shot with two minutes remaining in the game. He went scoreless with two rebounds in a 98-81 victory.
Analysis: Lewis has been held scoreless in his first six games played in March and is only averaging 4.0 minutes per game over that span. He played a bit of a bigger role off the bench in February, averaging 10.3 minutes per game, but remains too inconsistent for Fantasy owners to trust. He is averaging just 3.8 points and 1.7 boards this season and should be ignored in the majority of Fantasy formats this season.
News: After a run that saw him get involved in the teams offense yet again, Heat forward Rashard Lewis cooled off yet again heading into the All-Star break. Lewis hit just 1 of his 5 field-goal attempts Thursday against the Thunder, a three-pointer, capping off a three-game stretch in which he scored just three points total. Lewis played 19 minutes in the teams 110-100 win over the Thunder, shooting 1 of 4 from three-point range and added just three rebounds and one assist.
Analysis: Lewis had been playing a bigger role for the Heat recently, but his playing time has still been inconsistent overall. It doesnt help that Lewis is shooting just 30.0 percent from the field over the last five games. He is averaging just 4.8 points per game on the season, his lowest total since his rookie season back in 1998-99. At this point, Lewis should be ignored in almost all Fantasy formats.
News: Heat forward Rashard Lewis saw some rare run during Wednesday's contest against the Rockets. Lewis logged 19 minutes in the 114-108 win -- which is the most playing time he has seen since January 14. He finished with just five points on 2 of 7 shooting from the field and also added five rebounds, one assist and one steal to his stat line.
Analysis: Lewis is slowly but surely starting to get worked into coach Erik Spoelstra's rotation, but it is way to early to say he has become a permanent fixture there. The veteran will continue to see playing time based on injuries and matchups moving forward, which will likely result in him seeing sporadic minutes. While Lewis is making nearly 50 percent of his shots thus far, he should not be owned in the majority of formats at this point in the season.
News: After sitting idle on the bench since late December, Miami forward Rashard Lewis has regained a spot in the team's rotation. Lewis, who is in his 15th NBA season and first with the Heat, logged a season-high 27 minutes in Monday's loss at Utah. He led all scorers off the Miami bench with 13 points while sinking 4 of his 10 attempts from the field, including 2 of 6 from downtown. Lewis also chipped in a block and a steal.
Analysis: Before shuffling into the lineup at Sacramento last Saturday, Lewis had not stepped onto the court since Dec. 20 -- a span of 11 games -- as his playing time plummeted since November. His 13 points against the Jazz matched his second-highest total this year so Fantasy owners shouldn't expect his scoring average to increase. Lewis could also disappear from the rotation again and is not viewed as a worthwhile Fantasy option.
News: Heat forward Rashard Lewis once again did not see the floor during Miami's win over Minnesota Tuesday night. Lewis, who has now appeared in just two of the Heat's last five games, earned a DNP-coaches decision in the 103-92 win.
Analysis: With Shane Battier now healthy and Udonis Haslem finally starting to play better, Lewis has been the odd man out of the Heat's rotation right now. He has only appeared in two of the Heat's last six games and scored a combined six points over that stretch. While he anticipate his minutes eventually going back up, owners should continue to ignore the veteran in all formats at this point in the year.
News: Miami forward Rashard Lewis made his third straight start for the Heat in Tuesday's contest against the Wizards. However, Lewis failed to take advantage of his extra minutes as he did not score in the 105-101 defeat. He missed his lone field-goal attempt and added two rebounds and two assists to his stat line, while logging 15 minutes of game action.
Analysis: Lewis has started in place of the injured Shane Battier in each of the last three games, but has failed to make much of an impact. In fact, he has scored a combined fiver points in his three starts on just 2 of 6 shooting from the field. Lewis appears to be still trying to find his place on this star-studded heat squad and has been a bit gun shy in the early going. With season averages of 6.5 points and 2.0 rebounds, Fantasy owners should continue to leave Lewis on the waiver wire at this point.
News: After maintaining a spot in the rotation during the first three weeks of the season, Miami forward Rashard Lewis has been shuffled out of the rotation, the Sun Sentinel reports. Lewis, who has not played the past two games, said he doesn't believe the move is permanent. "There's a lot of talent on the bench, a lot of guys that can play any given night," he said. "So you've just always got to be ready when your name is called."
Analysis: Lewis logged at least 19 minutes in five of the Heat's first six games while posting double-digits in points three times during that span. The veteran power forward has failed to top 15 minutes over his past five games as his scoring average has dropped to 7.2 points per game. Fantasy owners shouldn't rely on him in the majority of formats at this point.
News: After scoring a combined eight points over the last two games, Heat forward Rashard Lewis got back on track against the Nets on Wednesday. He scored 13 points in 19 minutes off the bench in the 103-73 win. He was an efficient 6 for 9 from the floor and made 1 of 3 from beyond the arc. Lewis also chipped in with a steal in the victory.
Analysis: Lewis has scored in double figures three times so far in his Miami career and seems primed for a bounce-back campaign. He should continue to see plenty of open looks when LeBron James and Dwyane Wade crash the paint and the 33-year-old has shown throughout his career the ability to knock down an open 3. Owners in deeper Fantasy formats looking for some low-end scoring and improved shooting percentage should consider adding Lewis.
News: Miami forward Rashard Lewis was very efficient in his season debut with the Heat Tuesday night against the Celtics. Lewis finished with 10 points in the 120-109 win on 4 of 5 shooting from the field. He went 1 of 2 from downtown and also added five rebounds, an assist and one block to his stat line, while logging 19 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Lewis gave owners a small sample of what to expect from the veteran during his tenure with the Heat Tuesday night as he will likely be used in a very similar fashion moving forward. While the Heat have said numerous times they will carefully monitor Lewis' minutes due to his injury history, he should be in the 15-20 minutes range most nights. Lewis could prove to be a solid low-end option in some category-based leagues if he can re-discover his shooting stroke, but he not be starting in most Head to Head leagues at this point in the year.
News: Miami forward Rashard Lewis will be brought along slowly by the Heat, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "Lewis is coming back from an injury situation where he's been out effectively almost two straight years," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "We want to get minutes for Rashard, so he gets a little bit more in rhythm."
Analysis: Fantasy owners should not be expecting big things from Lewis this season, especially early in the year. He shot just 38.5 percent last season and 23.9 percent from three-point range. We doubt he's going to improve much and may not see a lot of time on the floor, even when healthy. Lewis has low-end Fantasy value to begin the year.
News: According to multiple sources, free agent forward Rashard Lewis has agreed to terms with the Heat. Lewis who also considered signing with the Hawks and Knicks, will get $1.35 million as part of the veteran's minimum deal.
Analysis: Lewis was bought out by the Hornets for $13.7 million and will now join the likes of LeBron James, Dwyayne Wade and Chris Bosh as well as newly signed Ray Allen. Lewis endured another disappointing season with the Wizards last season as he averaged 7.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 38.5 percent from the field. The 33-year-old will likely come off the bench next season and will be counted on the help the Heat space the floor with his 3-point shooting. However, owners should take more of a wait-and-see approach with Lewis while he tries to find his niche down in Miami. Consider him merely a low-end option in the most formats next season.
News: In an unsurprising move, the Hornets waived forward Rashard Lewis Sunday, making him a free agent and clearing more than $8 million from their salary cap. Lewis was acquired only a few days ago in a trade that send Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza to Washington.
Analysis: Lewis shot just 38.5 percent from the field in 28 games last season, averaging 7.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game for a dysfunctional Wizards team. He will look to catch on as a free agent, and will look to prove he has something left in the tank. However, Lewis will be 33 years old by the time the next season begins, so Fantasy owners should avoid him in all but the deepest Fantasy formats on Draft Day.
News: CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger confirms a report by the website Draft Express that the Hornets have agreed to trade Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza to the Wizards for Rashard Lewis and the 46th pick in the NBA Draft.
Analysis: Lewis is a candidate to get bought out since his best days are clearly behind him. Keep an eye on what happens with Lewis, but his Fantasy outlook is minimal even if he remains with the Hornets. He should not be drafted in the majority of leagues.
News: The Wizards have until June 30 to decide whether to buy out forward Rashard Lewis and save $10 million on his salary for next season, but the Washington Post is reporting that the team hopes to find a trade partner for him before the NBA Draft on June 28. The franchise would rather not pay Lewis not to play, however he is set to take up $22.7 million of their salary cap next season if they do not buy him out or find a trade partner.
Analysis: There is one more option, and that lies in the amnesty clause, where the team can pay his salary but remove it from their books. That seems to be the team's least-preferred option, however it still seems like a possibility for the oft-injured veteran. Lewis will be 33 years old by the time the season starts, and he averaged just 7.8 points per game last season while appearing in just 28 contests. He brings some obvious talents to the table and might still be able to be a Fantasy asset in the right role, however there remains too much uncertainty about where his skill level stands at this point to make him worth targeting on Draft Day.
News: The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that Wizards forward Rashard Lewis will likely not return for the remainder of the season, as he continues to deal with knee issues. Lewis has not played since the All-Star break. Lewis has played in just 28 games this season.
Analysis: Lewis first season in Washington was his worst since 98-99, when he was a 19-year-old rookie in Seattle. He averaged just 7.8 points per game on 38.5 percent shooting. With $22 million remaining on his contract, the Wizards will have to decide what the future holds for the forward, who will be 33 by the start of next season. It would be a surprise to see Lewis return to the Wizards, but no matter what, he is likely not worth serious attention on Draft Day.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis suffered a setback to his injured left knee, reports the Washington Post. Lewis, who has been sidelined since Feb. 28 due to bone bruise, starting feeling pain in his knee while working out with the team in Memphis on Sunday. Coach Randy Wittman said he isn't sure when Lewis will be able to return. I know he had a little bit of setback. I know he worked pretty hard, Wittman said of Lewis. He worked three-on-three before the game and had some soreness that wasnt there. He had stepped it up. Things were headed pretty good, but after that workout, there was some soreness. Were going to have to just play that how it is. Now weve backed him off what hes doing to try to calm that down.
Analysis: Lewis appeared close to getting back on the court, but now looks be out at least a few more weeks. The Wizards said he will continue to workout with the team in a limited capacity, but will not travel with the club on the road. Lewis has now missed 16 total games this season and is averaging just 7.8 points and 3.9 rebounds, while shooting 38.5 percent from the field -- which is the veteran's least productive season since his rookie campaign. Fantasy owners in deeper formats should keep an eye on his status moving forward. However, Lewis will have minimal value, if and when he does return.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis, who has been sidelined since the All-Star break due to a bone bruise, received a second synvisc shot on Friday and is expected to be out a few more days, reports the Washington Post. Lewis is averaging just 7.8 points on the season.
Analysis: Lewis could return sometime during Fantasy Week 13 (March 19-25), but nothing is set in stone at this point. However, the veteran has been a major bust this season, which won't help many Fantasy owners this time of yet. Lewis should be left on the waiver wire in most formats, even when healthy.
News: Washington forward Rashard Lewis hasn't played since Feb. 22 for the Wizards as he continues to deal with a bone bruise in his left knee. He did not dress for Friday's game against the Hawks. Coach Randy Wittman has said there is no timetable for Lewis' return.
Analysis: Lewis hasn't done much this year for the Wizards. At this stage of the season, Fantasy owners should be scouting the waiver wire for a nice pickup for the playoffs as Lewis won't be helping anyone win a championship this year.
News: Coach Randy Wittman told reporters that there is still no timetable for Rashard Lewis' return. Lewis has missed the team's last six contests to due a bone bruise in his left knee.
Analysis: Lewis' troublesome left knee has been giving him problems all season along and there is still no timetable for his return. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward, however, the veteran doesn't hold much Fantasy value at this point in the season.
News: The Washington Post reports that Wizards forward Rashard Lewis, who has hasnt played since returning from the all-star break, hopes to return soon. An MRI taken last week revealed a bone bruise underneath the kneecap, which Lewis blamed for his discomfort. Lewis said he got a Synvisc shot an injection commonly used to alleviate arthritic symptoms in his left knee on Monday. Synvisc injections are usually doled out in doses of three, but Lewis wasnt certain that he would need all of them before returning to the court. Doctor says well see how it feels again next week, but, hopefully, Ill be playing before next week, Lewis said. Its nothing damaging that I have to have surgery, just something I guess will just have to get better with rest.
Analysis: Lewis, the NBAs second-highest paid player this season behind Kobe Bryant, is having his worst statistical season since his rookie year. He is averaging just 7.8 points and shooting 38.5 percent from the floor and 23.9 percent from the 3-point line. He has missed nine games because of injuries this season and will not be available when the Wizards host the Lakers on Wednesday. Fantasy owners should keep Lewis reserved in all leagues until he proves that he can contribute on a high level.

Analysis: Lewis hasn't played in a while and there is no timetable for his return. Even when he's healthy enough to take the court, Lewis doesn't hold much Fantasy value. He can be ignored in the majority of formats at this time.
News: The Washington Post reports that Wizards forward Rashard Lewis (knee) did not practice Friday. Lewis missed Wednesday's game against Orlando as well, and he will be listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Cleveland.
Analysis: Lewis has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues when healthy. Ignore him in most formats even when his knee is 100 percent.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis has been ruled out of Wednesday night's game against the Magic, as his left knee continues to cause him problems. He is being considered day-to-day at this point with the injury.
Analysis: The Knee has been giving him issues all season, as this will be his seventh missed game of the season. The pricey veteran is suffering through arguably the worst season of his career, scoring just 7.8 points per game on 38.5 percent shooting, and should not be considered anything more than a low-end Fantasy in most formats even when healthy.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis did not play in Tuesday night's contest against the Bucks due to his sore left knee. Lewis, who has dealt with knee issues for most of the season, is being considered day to day at this point.
Analysis: Lewis' troublesome left knee has been giving him problems all season along, so this shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The veteran is in the midst of another very disappointing season with the Wizards and should be considered merely a low-end option in most formats, when healthy.
News: The Washington Post reports Monday that Wizards power forward Rashard Lewis could be bought out after the current season for $10 million. It is likely to happen with Lewis owed $23.7 million in 2012-13. Lewis has struggled this season and is averaging just 7.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.
Analysis: Lewis has played poorly this year and has also struggled with chronic knee issues. At the age of 31, Lewis is not likely worth what the Wizards would have to pay him next season. Lewis' Fantasy value is pretty much toast outside the deepest of leagues and formats at this point.
News: Washington gave power forward Rashard Lewis 30 minutes on the floor on Wednesday during a loss to the Kings. Lewis did little with his time on the court as he went just 2 of 7 from the field to score seven points. He missed both 3-pointers he attempted and added six rebounds, two assists and a block.
Analysis: Lewis hasn't scored in double figures in a while and is averaging just 4.0 points per game over his last five spanning 22.6 minutes per night. He does little else that would help Fantasy owners and is a dismal option who should only be considered in the deepest of formats right now.
News: After missing the previous three games due to a knee injury, Wizards F Rashard Lewis returned on Sunday night against the Pistons. He scored 10 points while playing 12 minutes off the bench during the 98-77 win. He went 3 for 5 from the field, including 2 for 4 from downtown, and made both of his free throws. Lewis also hauled in three rebounds in the victory.
Analysis: Lewis has dealt with this knee injury for most of the season but he showed no signs of it on Sunday. It was his first time scoring in double digits since Feb. 1, and marked just the ninth time he had done so this season. The 32-year-old should be able to increase his minutes going forward but since he is not counted on for much scoring in Washington, continue to ignore Lewis in all but the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: Wizards F Rashard Lewis was ruled out again for Friday's game against Miami with a troublesome knee injury, according to The Washington Examiner. It's the third consecutive game Lewis has missed with the setback, and he is currently listed as day to day for the Wizards.
Analysis: Lewis can't seem to shake the knee injury and missed his fifth game overall this season. He remains a minimal contributor in Washington's offense and is averaging just 8.5 points per game this season. Consider him a low-end reserve option in deeper Fantasy formats when active.
News: Wizards F Rashard Lewis was ruled out of Wednesday night's contest against the Knicks due to a sore right knee. Lewis, who has now missed four games this season, is being considered day to day with his injury.
Analysis: Lewis was listed as a starter prior to the Wizard's game on Monday, but was a late scratch. Clearly the knee is still bothering him, so owners should keep him out of the lineup in daily formats. He's no more than a low-end Fantasy option when healthy at this point.

Analysis: Lewis was in the starting lineup, but then a scratched just prior to tip off. Fantasy owners in daily formats should keep an eye on his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on the court. Lewis can be considered a low-end option in most formats, when healthy.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis went off for a season-high 20 points on Wednesday night against his former team. For most of the game he was the only starter in double figures until Nick Young got hot in the fourth quarter. Lewis shot 8 for 12 from the field, knocking down three 3-pointers, and hitting one foul shot. He added eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. The Wizards would lose to the Magic, 109-103.
Analysis: Lewis has been coming off the bench for the most part this season, which is why his numbers are so low. Over his last five games he's averaging 9.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Fantasy owners should consider the veteran merely a low-end option in the majority of formats at this time.
News: Wizards F Rashard Lewis was once again not much of a factor during Friday night's contest against the Rockets. Lewis finished with just six points in the contest, on 3 of 10 shooting from the field. He missed both of his attempts from downtown and also chipped in with three rebounds, one assist and a steal, while logging 23 minutes off the bench.
Analysis: Lewis continues to struggle, as he has failed to score in double figures in three of his last five games. He is averaging just over 8.0 points per game on the season, while shooting a dismal 22 percent from downtown. It appears the 32-year-old's best days are long behind him, which is why Fantasy owners should consider the veteran merely a low-end option in the majority of formats moving forward.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis (knee) returned to action on Wednesday against Oklahoma City in a win for the Wizards. Lewis scored seven points off the bench as he went 3 of 8 from the field, including hitting a 3-pointer. Lewis added four rebounds and two assists with a block in the performance.
Analysis: Lewis has been highly inconsistent this season. He scored just two points in 22 minutes on Saturday against Philadelphia, after scoring 16 points against the 76ers in Philly on Friday. He's doing little outside low-end scoring, and is just a low-end Fantasy option, when healthy, at this point in his career.
News: After missing Monday's game against the Rockets with knee soreness, Wizards F Rashard Lewis is expected back for Wednesday against the Thunder. The Washington Post reports that he isn't necessarily injured, he's just dealing with some soreness after playing four games in five nights. I think coach will monitor my minutes, Lewis said. Especially when were playing back to backs and four in five, then well have that triple-header and I think hell try to watch my minutes, because he wants me to get out there with the guys on the floor. Lewis said he expects to take some days off during the season to stay fresh.
News: The Washington Examiner reports that Wizards PF Rashard Lewis missed Monday's game against Houston with knee soreness. Lewis is considered day to day for the Wizards. He is questionable to return on Wednesday against the Thunder.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis came off the bench in Tuesday's game against Toronto after missing Sunday's game against Minnesota altogether. It was originally reported that Lewis missed the game against the Wolves with a knee injury. Instead, it was found out that Lewis missed in part due to his poor attitude. Lewis returned Tuesday and lost his starting job to Chris Singleton, who started in his absence on Sunday as well. That said, Lewis played well as he shot 6 for 10 from the field and hit a 3-pointer to score 15 points and tie for the team lead. Lewis added two assists and two steals over 27 minutes.
Analysis: Lewis scored in double figures for the first time in his last six games. He's still averaging just 8.0 points per game over that span. Lewis is not the player he once was, and is now showing his frustrations with a poor attitude. Lewis is only a viable Fantasy option in deeper formats now, despite Tuesday's solid effort.
News: While it was previously reported that Wizards F Rashard Lewis missed Sunday's game against Minnesota with a sore right knee, Comcast Sports Net Washington is reporting that Lewis actually missed the game after having an altercation with assistance coach Sam Cassell. Lewis reportedly decided prior to game time that he was not willing to play, and his status moving forward is totally in the air.
Analysis: The Wizards are a mess right now. Lewis, their highest paid player, is averaging just 8.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and fewer than a 3-pointer per game over 30 minutes this season. He has not played well, and now it appears he may not be playing much at all moving forward. If this report is true, it could mean the end of his time in Washington, which would likely be the best possible outcome for his Fantasy value. If the Wizards decide to release him, he may catch on with a better situation and revive himself. However until that happens, Lewis has no place on any Fantasy roster right now.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis missed Sunday's game against Minnesota with a sore right knee. Lewis was replaced in the starting lineup by Chris Singleton. Lewis played 23 minutes on Friday against the Knicks and went just 1 of 4 from the field to score two points with five turnovers and four rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging just 8.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and fewer than a 3-pointer per game over 30 minutes for the Wizards this season. He has not played well and is dealing with a knee issue now. Singleton has been playing better and might just stay in the starting lineup. Lewis should only be active in deeper Fantasy formats, when healthy.
News: Washington forward Rashard Lewis did not have a glamorous return to Orlando on Wednesday night. He shot 3 of 10 from the floor, missing both his 3-point attempts, finishing with six points. Lewis managed four rebounds and one assist in his 29 minutes on the court for the Wizards. Washington would lose the game, 103-85.
Analysis: Lewis continues to start and get plenty of minutes for the Wizards, but hasn't been producing much with his court time. He's averaging 10 points and 4.6 rebounds per game over his last five contests, which doesn't give him much Fantasy value. Lewis does have the ability to give owners a nice contribution in 3s, but so far that hasn't been the case. Continue to view Lewis as a low-end Fantasy forward until he gets into a groove.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis got his shot working in the second game of the season on Wednesday night in Atlanta. Despite the Wizards taking the defeat in the game, Lewis played far better than he did in the season opener against the Nets. Lewis shot 5 of 9 against the Hawks to score 13 points. He went 2 for 3 from 3-point range and added three rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis didn't even make a 3-pointer in the game against New Jersey to open the season. He's gone 7 for 17 from the field in his two games thus far and just 2 for 5 from deep. He has five total rebounds in two games and has done almost nothing else in terms of Fantasy production. Lewis has had a slow start to the season and is just a low-end start in Fantasy at the moment.
News: Washington F Rashard Lewis started in the Wizard's first preseason game against Philadelphia because coach Flip Faunders said he needs to play the guys he expects to be out there when the lights come on, reports the Washington Post. "We have to play our main guys. We have to get ready we play in a week, said Saunders. We have to get some experience. I just want to see us playing hard and I want to see if were carrying over, some of the things defensively. Lewis is expected to start the season in the starting lineup with rookie Jan Vesely coming off the bench.
Analysis: Lewis struggled in the first preseason game as he played 23 minutes. He shot 1 for 5 from the field and went 0 for 1 from long range to score four points. Lewis added four rebounds, two steals and an assist in the Washington loss. The 32-year-old averaged just 11.4 points per game over 32 games with the Wizards after coming over from Orlando last year. His rebounding went up to 5.8 boards per game, but his scoring and 3-point shooting took a hit. With Vesely in tow, the Wizards might want to start getting younger. Still, Lewis should be worth taking with a later-round draft pick.
News: The Wizards may choose to waive PF Rashard Lewis' two-year, $43.8-million contract through the new amnesty clause. If they do, reports the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers would be interested. Lewis would provide the Lakers with the outside shooting presence the team desperately needs.
Analysis: Lewis has a bloated contract and the Wizards might not want to hold onto it. Plenty of teams could want his services and it has been reported he could come cheap after refusing to have surgery on his balky right knee. Lewis would certainly get plenty of opportunities to shoot in L.A., so that move would help his Fantasy value. Lewis is going to have sleeper appeal in deeper Fantasy leagues if he finds himself in the right situation.
News: With the Wizards playing game No. 82 Wednesday, forward Rashard Lewis can begin to move on from a disappointing 2010-11 campaign. Not only was he battered by his ongoing knee issues, but he lost some touch as a shooter on the way to averaging just 11.7 points per game. He began the season with the Magic, but was traded to Washington in December in exchange for Gilbert Arenas. Lewis' numbers actually took a slight hit in his time with Washington, though he would play in just 32 games with his latest club. He played in just 57 total games, the fewest in a decade, because of the ongoing knee trouble.
Analysis: Lewis remains one of the higher paid players in the NBA, though his numbers are not where they once were. His scoring average was his worst since the 1999-00 season, and he shot just 35.7 percent from 3-point range -- also his lowest since the turn of the decade. Lewis did see some increases over last season, managing better rebounding, assist and block averages despite the offensive drop-off. Fantasy owners took the swingman in the middle rounds of most CBSSports.com leagues, but they didn't get the corresponding production from the 31-year-old. Lewis averaged just over 20 Fantasy points per game in standard formats, but the time missed hurt his value late in the year. The knee issues will always seem to bother Lewis, so we anticipate his stock falling heading into next season. Consider him to be a sleeper for 2011-12, with late round value in most formats.
News: The Washington Post reports that more than two weeks after having a platelet rich plasma injection in his right knee, Wizards forward Rashard Lewis is ready to start to get prepared for next season. His initial stint with the Wizards came to an end last month, when the pain in his right knee became unbearable and he was ineffective. Now is when were going to ramp it up and run, do a lot of activities and see how the legs feel, Lewis said. The most important thing is doing as much rehab as possible and strengthen the tendon in the knee. Coming up, we just got to do a lot of running, aggravate it a little bit and see how it recovers the next day.
Analysis: Lewis, 31, dealt with tendinitis in his knee all season, which he blames for the least productive season since his second year after entering the league from high school. The Orlando Magic dealt him after he averaged just 12.2 points and 4.2 rebounds. He assuming a different role in Washington, where coach Flip Saunders utilized him at small forward, and saw an initial spike in his numbers, but his scoring eventually dipped to just 11.4 points, though his rebounding improved to 5.8. Lewis should be fine for the start of next year, but he is a low-end Fantasy option heading into the season. Lewis should only be drafted in deep leagues with a late-round pick assuming his knee is healthy.
News: The Washington Post reports Wizards forward Rashard Lewis received a platelet rich plasma (PRP) injection in his right knee in New York on Thursday. It will cause him to miss another two weeks of action, but coach Flip Saunders is leaning towards shutting the veteran down for the rest of the season. Its getting to the point, its so late in the year, Saunders said. Hes been out two weeks. The situation he had, hes going to be out at least 10 more days. Then youre getting down to the last two weeks of the season, so I dont know if youre going to bring him back at that point. You dont want to take any chances.
Analysis: Lewis has been in and out of the lineup all season with the ongoing knee issues, and he's said he plans to avoid surgery if at all possible. He was acquired from Orlando for fellow injury-ridden swingman Gilbert Arenas in December. Lewis is averaging just 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in 32 games with the Wizards. It appears safe to release Lewis in all leagues, and hopefully he can return in 2011-12 at 100 percent. He will likely be considered a low-end option as long as the knee regains strength.
News: The Washington Post reports that Wizards forward Rashard Lewis will leave for New York on Thursday to meet with another specialist and receive a third opinion on the sore right knee that has kept him sidelined for the past five games. After Lewis returned last week from Houston, where he got a second opinion, he determined that he would only have surgery as a final option. Im going to try to avoid the surgery, said Lewis. No matter what decision is made after his New York visit, Lewis is unlikely to return this season.
Analysis: Lewis, acquired on Dec. 18 in exchange for Gilbert Arenas from Orlando, is averaging just 11.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in 32 games with the Wizards. It appears safe to release Lewis in all leagues, and hopefully he can return in 2011-12 at 100 percent. He will likely be considered a No. 4 Fantasy option next year as long as his knee is healthy.
News: Wizards F Rashard Lewis was not available in Tuesday's contest against the Bulls as he continues to deal with to rest his ailing knee. Lewis has now missed sixth straight games with the injury. The Washington Post reports that Lewis will go for another opinion on his knee this week in New York.
Analysis: Lewis is still deciding on whether or not to have surgery on his bothersome right knee that has been giving fits him all season. There has been no timetable announced for his return and with the Wizards essentially playing for a lottery pick at this point of the season, there is no reason to rush him back. Consider the veteran nothing more than a low-end Fantasy option at this point.
News: The Washington Post reports that Wizards coach Flip Saunders has ruled out forward Rashard Lewis for Tuesday's game at Chicago. Lewis was not available for Monday's game against the Thunder, as he continues to rest his ailing knee.
Analysis: Lewis might opt for surgery on his knee and could be shut down. Keep an eye on what happens with Lewis, but he has minimal Fantasy value as long as his knee is less than 100 percent. The Wizards also have nothing to play for, so Lewis is in no rush to return in a hurry.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis was not available for Monday's game against the Thunder, as he continues to rest his ailing knee.
Analysis: Lewis really doesn't have a timetable for a return, and he's gone back-and-fourth contemplating whether or not to have season-ending surgery. Fantasy owners should think about abandoning ship on the swingman at this point as they sure up playoff rosters. Otherwise, Lewis is just a low-end option in the majority of formats because of his inconsistent impact.
News: The Wizards report Monday that forward Rashard Lewis is out for Monday's game against Oklahoma City. Lewis has now missed three straight games heading into Monday with his latest right knee ailment and left the team last week to get a second opinion on his troublesome right knee. There has been no official timetable announced for his return.
News: As expected, Wizards F Rashard Lewis did not play in Saturday's contest against the Clippers because of a right knee injury. Lewis has now missed three straight games with his latest ailment and left the team this week to get a second opinion on his troublesome right knee. There has been no official timetable announced for his return.
Analysis: Lewis is still deciding on whether or not to have surgery on his bothersome right knee that has been giving fits him all season. While no decision has been made on how to treat his knee as of yet, there is a real possibility the seasoned veteran could opt to shut it down for the rest of the season. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the situation moving forward to see what he will do. However, Lewis' production has been mediocre at best this season, which has really diminished his Fantasy value. Even if he does return, Lewis would only hold value in deeper formats at this point of the season.
News: The Washington Post reports that Wizards forward Rashard Lewis left the team this week to get a second opinion in Houston for his right knee. Coach Flip Saunders said Lewis was expected to return on Friday but will not be available on Saturday against the Clippers. Lewis said last week that he might need surgery to repair his right knee tendinitis, but he came back to play one more game, scoring 10 points in a win over Minnesota. Afterward, he said he might seek another opinion. "We haven't heard from the doctors yet, but he hasn't been able to play," Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said. "We want to make sure that he feels better and don't leave any stone unturned and do what's best for the player long term."
Analysis: Lewis might opt for surgery on his knee and could be shut down. Keep an eye on what happens with Lewis, but he has minimal Fantasy value as long as his knee is less than 100 percent.
News: The Washington Post reports that Wizards coach Flip Saunders said Thursday that he does not anticipate having Rashard Lewis in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Clippers. Lewis has missed the team's last two games with lingering knee issues.
Analysis: There is a real chance that Lewis could get shut down for the remainder of the season just about any day now. His playing time and overall production has been shaky lately and the veteran really has had no real consistent Fantasy value this season. Monitor his progress, but right now he just is not a player you want to count on in Fantasy.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis was not able to play in Tuesday's game against the Bucks because of his ongoing knee issues. He missed Sunday's game as well.
Analysis: Lewis has been trying to play anything close to his normal role over the last couple of weeks, but his knee has not held up. Now, with the season all but lost for the Wizards, we aren't surprised the team is not pushing the issue. Lewis has dealt with the issue and still been able to shoot from long-range, but the rest of his game has suffered lately. His stats are meager over the last two weeks, averaging just 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds over his last 10 appearances. Fantasy owners should not expect him to play much heading into the stretch run of the year. When he is in the lineup, we can't view Lewis as anything more than a low-end Fantasy option.
News: As expected, Wizards forward Rashard Lewis was inactive for Sunday's contest at Detroit because of a injury injury. Lewis, who also sat out Saturday's game against Minnesota, continues to battle discomfort in his right knee. "It's very tough playing on back-to-backs. It's very tough playing, period. I'm just not ready to quit on them yet. It's a lot of young guys on this team. My presence will help a little bit, I think."
Analysis: Lewis' knee continues to give him problems, but the 13-year veteran appears unwilling to end his season prematurely. He will keep pushing it for now, although he has been mulling season-ending surgery options to help repair issues that have lingered with him from Orlando. He is still mulling over those options, but says that he is taking "day-to-day" for now. What is clear is that the knee is preventing him from having any kind of real statistical impact on a regular basis. He is averaging just 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds over his last 10 appearances.
News: The Washington Post reports that Rashard Lewis said following Saturday's game against Minnesota that he likely would not be available for Sunday's game in Detroit as he continues to battle through discomfort in his right knee. "It's very tough playing on back-to-backs. It's very tough playing, period. I'm just not ready to quit on them yet. It's a lot of young guys on this team. My presence will help a little bit, I think."
Analysis: Lewis said that he was not "ready to quit on the team yet." He will keep pushing it for now, but has been mulling season-ending surgery options to help repair issues that have lingered with him from Orlando. He is still mulling over those options, but says that he is taking "day-to-day" for now. What is clear is that the knee is preventing him from having any kind of real statistical impact on a regular basis. He is averaging just 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds over his last 10 appearances.
News: Washington forward Rashard Lewis has been dealing with a knee issue for a while now, but played through it on Saturday against Minnesota. He logged 23 minutes and got the start for the Wizards, but struggled to find the range with his shot. Lewis would go 3 for 11 from the field, but would convert 2 of his 4 shots from beyond the 3-point arc. He also knocked down both his foul shots as he finished with 10 points. Lewis contributed a rebound and an assist in the Wizards 103-96 win.
Analysis: Lewis has been debating to have surgery on his right knee. Whether he opts for surgery or not, Lewis will likely have soreness in his knee the remainder of the season. Once Nick Young and Josh Howard return to the lineup, Lewis should return to his role off the bench, limiting his minutes and keeping him kind of fresh for the Wizards. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the veteran's status the rest of the season. With this knee issue not going away and the chances he won't be 100 percent the remained of the year doesn't give Lewis much Fantasy value. Consider him a low-end option in deeper formats from here on out.
News: The Washington Post reports that no final decision has been made regarding right knee surgery for Wizards forward Rashard Lewis. He practiced Friday and is expected to play Saturday against Minnesota. "Rashard is going to play," coach Flip Saunders said. "He's fine. He's got a situation with his leg that he's not going to hurt anymore, but he has soreness. And sometimes, the soreness in his knee puts him in a situation where his leg can't fire as much as he wants to. He's such a professional, he wants to play and perform at a high level and he wants to help the team. He feels sometimes that he's not out there helping enough. I told him, 'Let me be the judge of that.' "
Analysis: Continue to monitor what happens with Lewis, and hopefully he can make it through the season without having surgery. But even if he remains active he has minimal Fantasy value. He is not worth using in the majority of leagues as long as his knee is not 100 percent.
News: The Washington Post reports that Rashard Lewis said on Thursday that he may need to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He expected to make a decision soon. Lewis has played through lingering pain in his knee.
Analysis: There is a real chance that Lewis could undergo the surgery and be sidelined for a while and, at this point, possibly the remainder of the season. His playing time and overall production has been shaky lately and the veteran really has had no real consistent Fantasy value this season. Monitor his progress, but make sure to have healthy alternatives available.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis played through the flu on Monday night in a blowout loss to the Bulls. Lewis could muster just 10 minuets off the bench and shot just 1 of 3 from the field to score three points. He went 1 for 2 from long range and added one rebound and one assist with one turnover. Lewis scored 13 points in 33 minutes on Saturday against Dallas.
Analysis: Lewis certainly did not put in a full game's worth of action on Monday and was clearly bothered by his flu-like symptoms. Still, he should get back to full strength shortly and Fantasy owners shouldn't be too concerned. That said, he entered Monday's game averaging just 4.8 points and 3.3 rebounds over his previous four contests and that is some cause for alarm. Until he can prove healthy and effective again, Lewis is someone to avoid and keep on benches.
News: After the team's morning shootaround, the Wizards announced that F Rashard Lewis is considered questionable for Monday night's game in Washington because he is sick. Lewis scored 13 points in 33 minutes on Saturday against Dallas.
Analysis: Consider Lewis risky for Week 19 (Feb. 28-March 6), though he is in line for a four-game slate. He is averaging just 4.8 points and 3.3 rebounds over his last four appearances, however, which is more of a reason to avoid the former Fantasy stud at the moment.
News: Though he started the game for injured forward Andray Blatche (hip), Washington PF Rashard Lewis again saw minimal minutes while he deals with his own knee issues Friday night against the Heat. He averages over 33 minutes per game this season when healthy, but Lewis saw just 21 in the loss. His play was reflective of the injury, as he scored five points on 2 of 9 shooting. Lewis added four rebounds, an assist, steal and block on the night.
Analysis: Lewis has missed three games already with knee tendinitis, and he's played no more than 21 minutes in a game since returning. He is nowhere near 100 percent, but the under-manned Wizards are making due as best they can in the second half of another dismal season overall. Lewis should continue to see minimal playing time moving forward, even with the team in the state it's in. If so, he becomes just a low-end Fantasy option in the majority of formats.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis, who was expected to be limited by a knee injury on Tuesday against Indiana, was limited as he played just 20 minutes off the bench. Lewis shot 0 for 3 from the field and missed both 3-pointers he attempted. He failed to score altogether in the contest and his only real stats were two rebounds and two turnovers.
Analysis: Lewis had missed the past three games with tendinitis in his right knee and mulled over surgery options, but that appears to have been averted for now. Still, it is clear that he's not even close to 100 percent health and we wouldn't doubt him missing some more time. For now, consider him active but realize he's not likely to put up the numbers you are used to. Temper expectations.
News: The Wizards announced following Tuesday's shootaround that Rashard Lewis (knee) had been cleared to play in that night's game against the Pacers. However, coach Flip Saunders told reporters that Lewis would be "limited."
Analysis: Lewis missed the past three games with tendinitis in his right knee. He mulled over surgery options, but that appears to have been averted for now. The Wizards are slated for four games in Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 22-27), but a restricted role likely means he will fall short of the 11.6 points and 5.1 rebounds he has averaged in his last 10 appearances -- during which he averaged over 34 minutes per game. Temper expectations.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis, who has missed the past three games with tendinitis in his right knee, told the Washington Post that he plans on playing on Tuesday against the Pacers. Lewis was back on the practice court on MOnday for the team's first workout in a week. "Knee's better, most definitely a lot better," Lewis said. "Got rid of a lot of the pain. It still was a little uncomfortable, but at the same time, I think I haven't played a basketball game in like ten days, so not only the knee bothering me, but I was tired. I got to get my wind back up, get my butt back into game shape."
Analysis: Apparently all the extra rest paid off as Lewis said he plans to play on Tuesday. There were some rumblings that he was considering surgery, although those plans appear to be on hold. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status just to make sure he will be in the lineup against Indiana. The 13-year veteran can be considered solid Fantasy option, when healthy.
News: Washington forward Rashard Lewis missed Wednesday's game against his former team, Orlando. According to NBA.com, Lewis is contemplating surgery on his sore right knee. Lewis didn't practice on Tuesday and with the All-Star break right around the corner, he'll get a few more days off to rest his knee. He had said it would be fun to play against his former teammates and in front of the fans.
Analysis: Lewis was acquired from the Magic back in a December trade that sent Gilbert Arenas to Florida. He's missed three games now with this injury and has admitted his knee has bothered him for a while now. Fantasy owners should keep him stashed until he's ready to play, but get a backup plan ready just in case he opts to get surgery. Continue to monitor him over the weekend.
News: The Washington Post reports that Rashard Lewis is not expected to play in Wednesday's game in Orlando. He did not practice on Tuesday as he deals with a lingering knee injury. "I think I'm going to be sitting out again," said Lewis, who joined the Wizards in the trade for Gilbert Arenas on Dec. 18. "I'm going to rest the knee one more game and also with the all-star break, try to come back after the break. I think it would've been a lot of fun to play here and be back in the arena that I played in this year -- not last year, but this year -- so it most definitely would've been a lot of fun playing in front of the fans."
Analysis: Coach Flip Saunders said he is hopeful that Lewis will be able to benefit from sitting out nearly two weeks before the team practices again next Monday. In his absence, expect to see an increased role for Josh Howard. Lewis is worth stashing for his upside as a three-point shooter and scoring option who can also provide adequate rebounding. Keep him reserved for the time being and continue to monitor his progress.
News: Washington forward Rashard Lewis (right) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Cavaliers and might be out until after the All-Star break. Lewis sat out Saturday's 118-94 loss to the Spurs and coach Flip Saunders isn't sure when the 31-year-old will be back in the lineup. Im not sure if hell play in Orlando (Wednesday), but if he doesnt, then hell get five more days off, Wizards coach Phil Flip Saunders said. If thats the case, hopefully hell be good to go for the last 28 games.
Analysis: Lewis' knee continues to give him problems, and from the sound of it he likely be out until after the All-Star break. There also have been rumblings that the veteran forward is considering surgery, which would mean he could miss extedned time. This is something Fantasy owners should monitor. When healthy, Lewis is a viable forward option in deeper category-based formats.
News: The Washington Examiner reports Wizards forward Rashard Lewis was not available for Saturday's game against the Spurs due to knee tendinitis. On Friday, Lewis said "Surgery is an option, just to clean it out, a scope, but it's not something that I want to do right now." Lewis added that this nagging knee issue has been a problem for him the last couple of years, but it has gotten worse this season. "He's been playing a lot of minutes," Wizards coach Flip Saunders said. "He went from playing the four, where basically he's going to be around the basket a lot, to guarding a lot of threes, chasing, moving a lot more offensively from one side to another. He's got a lot more wear and tear with how we've been using him recently."
Analysis: Lewis may sit out a few games heading into the All-Star break to get some extra rest. It seems like he is strongly considering surgery, which would mean the veteran would be missing some extended time. This is something Fantasy owners should monitor. When healthy, Lewis is a viable forward option in deeper category-based formats.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis told the Washington Examiner that he is considering surgery on his right knee to alleviate the tendinitis issues he's having. "Surgery is an option, just to clean it out, a scope, but it's not something that I want to do right now," said Lewis, who is averaging 12.7 points and 5.5 rebounds a game. "I think it'd be an option after the season, but we're going to see how it feels over these next couple of games leading up to the break, just to decide what we're going to do." Lewis added that this nagging knee issue has been a problem for him the last couple of years, but it has gotten worse this season.
News: The Washington Examiner reports that Wizards forward Rashard Lewis is questionable for Saturday's game against San Antonio. Lewis hasn't practiced since Wednesday with the knee injury.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Lewis' status and hope he can play against the Spurs. When healthy, Lewis is a quality Fantasy option in all leagues, but his knees have bothered him of late and is likely the reason for a dip in his production.
News: The Washington Examiner reports that Wizards PF Rashard Lewis is considering future surgery to alleviate the nagging tendonitis issues in his right knee. "Surgery is an option, just to clean it out, a scope, but its not something that I want to do right now, said Lewis. I think itd be an option after the season, but were going to see how it feels over these next couple of games leading up to the break, just to decide what were going to do. Its at the top of my knee. This year it seems like its been an ongoing problem for some reason. It started in Orlando early in the season, and it just seems like its been getting worse and worse as the seasons been going on.
Analysis: Lewis' scoring is down this season, but his rebounding numbers are up, so hopefully he can play through this knee pain and continue to contribute in the deeper leagues he has value in as a low-end starting Fantasy forward.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis played 27 minutes on Wednesday night as he was slightly hampered by lingering knee troubles. Lewis did not shoot well in the performance and might have to miss some time going forward. The Washington forward went 1 for 5 from the field, including 0 for 2 from beyond the arc, to score just three points. He added four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Analysis: Lewis was clearly not himself on Wednesday and is averaging just 9.8 points per game over his last five. If his knees are the reason, Fantasy owners will want to pay close attention to his next game. He might even sit out a game or two. When healthy, Lewis is an option for all Fantasy formats.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis will play Wednesday, but could be limited in minutes due to lingering knee issues, reports the Washington Examiner. Lewis last played on Feb. 5 against Atlanta in the team's last game and scored 10 points on 4 of 9 shooting.
Analysis: With four days between games, we're not sure when Lewis tweaked his knee, but apparently he's having some trouble in that area. Fantasy owners will want to monitor this but shouldn't be too highly concerned at this point. For now, keep Lewis active in most deeper Fantasy formats, though he hasn't been at his best thus far in February.
News: Washington forward Rashard Lewis played just 28 minutes on Tuesday in New Orleans as he fouled out of the game. He shot 2 for 6 from the field -- missing his lone 3-point attempt -- and finishing with just four points. Lewis added a steal, an assist and three rebounds during his time on the court. The Wizards would lose the game, 97-89, despite making a late rally.
Analysis: Lewis hasn't done too much since he joined the Wizards back in December. The veteran forward is still adjusting to his new team, which can been seen by his numbers. Over his last five games, Lewis is averaging 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest. He's shooting 38.4 percent from downtown over that span and gotten to the foul line just five times. That was a big issue when he was in Orlando -- his lack of a post game and failure to get to the line. While Lewis still has Fantasy value, he should only be active in deeper formats right now.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis played mistake-free basketball for 51 minutes on Friday night against the Thunder. He shot 8 for 20 from the field, going 4 for 10 from downtown, as he finished with 22 points. Washington would play tough, but lose another road game. Oklahoma City prevailed 124-117 in double overtime. Lewis added eight rebounds and one assist.
Analysis: Lewis has been playing well recently for the Wizards, despite more rumors of him being traded. While he was traded earlier in the season, it is unclear what team might take on his high salary. For now he remains on Washington and should be considered a low-end Fantasy forward option. He's averaging 16.8 points and 7.6 boards per game over his last five outings.
News: Washington forward Rashard Lewis is still dealing with a sore knee, but was able to start against Phoenix on Friday. Wizards coach Flip Saunders told NBA.com, he'll closely monitor Lewis' minutes and could get Saturday's game against the Celtics off. Were going to have to play a lot of people. We have eight games in 11 days, Saunders said.
Analysis: Lewis had been playing pretty well lately, but is now being hit by the injury bug. He's averaging 13.8 points, 6.0 boards and 3.0 assists per game over his last five contests. While he's not getting any younger, Lewis has done well since getting traded to Washington. Fantasy owners will want to monitor his status through the weekend before setting those Week 14 (Jan. 24-30) lineups.
News: The Washington Examiner reports that Wizards PF Rashard Lewis' right knee is bothering him a bit. He said he'll play Friday against the Suns, but was less sure about playing again on Saturday against the Celtics.
Analysis: At 31, Lewis isn't a spring chicken any more, and his scoring is down 10 points a game over the last five seasons. He has been crashing the boards a little more this season and has plenty of value in most Fantasy formats, so this knee problem is something worth keeping an eye on over the next couple of weeks, especially if it stops him playing back-to-back games.
News: Wizards F Rashard Lewis scored 13 points with eight rebounds and two assists in Monday's game against the Jazz. More notable, however, was the fact that he converted multiple 3-pointers for a third consecutive game.
Analysis: Lewis has been an elite outside shooter throughout his career and while the 31-year-old is not getting quite the shot volume he enjoyed in his heyday, he is still a viable option for help in that category. He is averaging 13.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists with a steal per game over his last five and remains a worthy play in standard leagues.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis recorded his third double-double in his last four games on Tuesday night in an overtime win over the Kings. Lewis, who hit 1 of 4 from 3-point range, scored 16 points on 7 for 11 shooting overall. He grabbed 10 rebounds over 43 minutes and added six assists and two steals in the 136-133 win.
Analysis: Lewis has played at a much higher level with the Wizards since joining them. Rebounding in general has been a positive improvement for Lewis, who is averaging 9.2 per game over his last five. Lewis is averaging 13.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.8 steals and more than a 3-pointer per game over his last five. He's playing well and getting plenty of minutes with the Wizards. Start him in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis recorded his second double-double in as many games during Friday night's 97-77 win over the Nets. Lewis got off to a fast start against New Jersey, hitting his first six shots, including going 3 of 3 from downtown. He finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds on 5 of 11 shooting from the field. Lewis logged 41 minutes in the contest and filled up the stat sheet with six assists, three steals and a block. "My shot felt good coming into the game and I came out tonight and felt it early," Lewis said. "It all came from defense. When you're getting stops, you can run out and John [Wall] is pushing the ball, the defense collapses in the paint and I was wide-open on the perimeter."
Analysis: Lewis has now scored in double figures in seven straight games and is averaging 14.6 points and 8.2 rebounds over his last five. He continues to see a boost in production since joining the Wizards and is starting to resemble the player he was back in Orlando two years ago. Fantasy owners should get him active for the upcoming scoring period while he is playing so well.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis continues to play well for his new team as the Wizards fell in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Lewis recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. He hit two 3-pointers and added a steal and a block in the performance. Lewis has been steady for Washington over his last five games.
Analysis: Lewis has gone 7 of 17 from 3-point range over his last five contests and is averaging 14 points and 7.2 rebounds over that span. That comes with 1.2 steals, a block and 3.6 assists. Lewis is contributing more across the board than he did with Orlando and is looking like a solid Fantasy start across the board.
News: Wizards forward Rashard Lewis has been playing steady basketball over his last four games for the Wizards. He was one of three players to score in double figures in Friday's 95-86 loss to the Pacers, as he would finish with 15 points. Lewis shot 50 percent from the field -- going 2 for 3 from downtown -- and converting 3 of his 4 foul shots. Lewis would add two steals, six rebounds and five assists to his stat sheet.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 13.2 points, 3.2 assists and 7.2 rebounds over his last five games for the Wizards. All of those numbers are above what he was averaging in Orlando, so his Fantasy value is slowly climbing. Playing in Washington should be good for Lewis, and so far it's working out for him. As long as he continues to start and keeps producing on a steady basis, Lewis should be considered a low-end Fantasy forward in most formats.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis has begun to show he might be very valuable now that he's playing for the Wizards. On Monday at Houston, Lewis scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds with five assists. He shot 6 of 16 from the field and went 0 for 2 from 3-point range. That complete performance was backed up by his effort Sunday at San Antonio when he scored 21 points with 12 rebounds and hit four 3-pointers.
Analysis: Lewis has had two solid games in a row now and is contributing across the board of Fantasy statistics now that he's become a Wizard. He's starting and getting 40 minutes per game and is officially a solid start in all Fantasy leagues with his new team.
News: Power forward Rashard Lewis made his Washington debut on Wednesday night during a loss to the Bulls. Lewis came off the bench quietly for 14 minutes and shot 4 of 10 from the field to score eight points. He missed all five 3-point attempts with his new team and added three rebounds, a block and one assist.
Analysis: Lewis is going to have better days. Thus far all of the players that have switched teams in the blockbuster trade that went down a few days ago have struggled to shoot with their new teams. It cannot continue. Lewis missed all five 3-point attempts and is going to start hitting sooner or later. Still, he only played 14 minutes and the way the Wizards use him should be monitored for a few games before he's activated widely in Fantasy play.
News: F Rashard Lewis completed his first practice as a member of the Wizards on Tuesday and will make his debut with his new team on Wednesday, reports the Washington Post . Lewis will come off the bench in his debut against Chicago and is expected to play between 20 and 30 minutes "to get him a comfort level," according to Flip Saunders.
Analysis: Lewis is expected to move into the starting lineup once he gets a few workouts in with the team, but will be reserved to a bench role for the immediate future. Saunders wants Lewis to resemble the player he was with Seattle when averaged over 20 points a game. Fantasy owners would like to see that as well, but at age 31, it seems unlikely. However, Lewis should see an increase in production as he will be asked to one of Washington's main scoring threats. Owners should monitor how he fares overt his first week.
News: Washington PF Rashard Lewis arrived in Washington prior to Monday's game against Charlotte, however, he was not available to play in the game. Lewis is expected to debut for the Wizards on Wednesday against the Bulls.
Analysis: Lewis should start immediately with the Wizards when he finally does get on the court. The Wizards are decimated by injuries at the moment and losing Gilbert Arenas means that they'll need Lewis to score. That means he should definitely improve upon his 12.2 points per game average this year. We expect a lot of threes and more of what you've come to expect from Lewis through the years.
News: The Washington Examiner reports that newly acquired Wizards PF Rashard Lewis arrived Monday afternoon in Washington. It is uncertain as of now whether he'll play in Monday's game against the Bobcats.
Analysis: Lewis should start immediately with the Wizards, who are decimated by injuries at the moment. The loss of Arenas for Washington means that the Wizards need Lewis to score. That means he should definitely improve upon his 12.2 points per game average this year. We expect a lot of threes and more of what you've come to expect from Lewis through the years.
News: The Orlando Magic traded forward Rashard Lewis to the Washington Wizards on Saturday, league sources confirmed to CBSSports.com. The Magic also traded Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat and Mickael Pietrus to the Suns and received SF Earl Clark, Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu in return. Orlando got Gilbert Arenas in return for Lewis and also sends a 2011 first-round pick and cash to Phoenix.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis did not have his finest shooting performance on Thursday night against the Trail Blazers. He went just 4 for 10 from the field, finishing with 11 points and six rebounds in the 97-83 loss. He was 1 for 3 from beyond the arc and made both his free-throw attempts while playing 34 minutes. Lewis also chipped in with two assists, a steal and a blocked shot in the defeat.
Analysis: Lewis hasn't been scoring much lately and is averaging just 11.3 points with five rebounds over his last three contests. His numbers are down all around from a year ago, a trend that has been happening for four years. While he is still a solid shooter from downtown (37.5 percent), he does not produce enough in other categories to be a must-start option. Consider Lewis a viable option in most leagues with the Jazz and Clippers left on the schedule for Week 7 (Dec. 6-12).
News: Magic PF Rashard Lewis, who left early Wednesday after injuring his left knee, participated in Friday morning's shootaround and will play Friday night at Detroit, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Analysis: Lewis has been a prolific 3-point shooter as usual this season, but his scoring is down for the fourth straight year. He's also becoming a liability in rebounds. He still has some low-end appeal in Fantasy, but he's far from a must-start option.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis nailed three 3-pointers Wednesday in an easy win at Chicago but left the game with a knee injury in the third quarter and couldn't return. Lewis returned to the bench but watched the rest of the game. Lewis went 3 for 5 from deep and 4 of 8 overall to score 13 points in the contest. Lewis, who only played 24 minutes, added two rebounds and an assist. Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said Lewis twisted his left knee and felt a bit of sharp pain, but the team trainer Keon Weise didn't feel like the injury was serious. Lewis will be re-evaluated on Thursday. I think its fine, Lewis told the Orlando Sentinel after the game. I think Ill just give it a day and see how it feels tomorrow.
Analysis: Lewis just scored 20 points on Tuesday against Detroit. He has nine 3-pointers in his last five contests and is averaging 14 points per game over that span. Unfortunately, his rebounding has been down and he doesn't do much passing, either. If Lewis can warm up, he'd be worth using in most Fantasy leagues. But for now, he's more of a low-end forward option who is dealing with an injury.
News: Orlando forward Rashard Lewis had a season-low one rebound in Friday's 111-100 win over Cleveland. Lewis shot 5 for 11 from the field -- hitting 2 of his 6 3-point attempts -- and nailed both foul shots en route to his 14 points. He would chip in two assists and two steals in his 35 minutes of action.
Analysis: Lewis has scored more than 20 points just twice this year and isn't really known for his rebounding ability. He does play in the four-spot, but he's not known for his rebounding. Fantasy owners shouldn't bank on too many big outings by Lewis as his numbers have declined over the last four years. If Lewis can warm up, he'd be worth using in most Fantasy leagues. But for now, he's more of a low-end forward option in standard CBSSports.com formats.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis had an efficient shooting night against the Pacers on Saturday. He went 8 of 11 from the field, including 5 for 7 from beyond the arc, and finished with 21 points in the 90-86 win. Lewis, who missed his lone free-throw attempt, played 35 minutes and also collected two rebounds and one steal. It was his second 20-point performance of the year.
Analysis: Lewis had been mired in a shooting slump over his last six games but he was able to bust out in a big way on Saturday. While he did not haul in as many boards as Fantasy owners would have like to see in the win, it was nice to see him get his scoring back up. Hopefully he can take this fine performance forward and get back to averaging the 14.1 points he did a year ago but keep an eye on his progress over the next few games. Lewis can be a must-start option when producing, so continue to keep him active in most leagues heading into Week 5 (Nov. 22-28).
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis shook off a cold shooting stretch and scored 13 points on 6 of 9 accuracy in a win over the Suns on Thursday. It was just the second time in six games he has netted six or more field goals.
Analysis: Lewis, still in the starting lineup despite shooting only 35 percent from the field this season, is struggling to discover his scoring touch. In his last three games prior to Thursday night, he had a total of 23 points on a brutal 8 of 28 shooting from the field. Despite his shooting troubles, he remains a decent contributor on the boards averaging 5.7 a game. Orlandos remaining schedule in November is favorable for a possible turnaround but if it doesnt happen, consider looking elsewhere for Fantasy production.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis scoring troubles continued in Saturday's 91-90 win over the Nets. Lewis had just eight points on 3 of 10 shooting in the victory. He logged 30 minutes and chipped in with two boards, two assists and a pair of steals. Lewis is averaging just 11.2 points over his last five contests.
Analysis: Lewis has really struggled to get going this season and has now failed to score in double-digits in three of his last four contests. He has been known to be bit streaky over his career, but Lewis needs to heat up quickly to remain worth starting in most Fantasy leagues. Hopefully he can turn things around in Week 4 with matchups against Memphis, Phoenix and Indiana. Those all have the potential to be high scoring games, so leave Lewis active heading into the next scoring period.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis went 3 for 7 from downtown on Wednesday night and the Magic fell victim to the Utah Jazz. Lewis scored 16 points and shot 6 of 15 overall. He added seven rebounds and two assists in the performance. Lewis bounced back after scoring just four points in Monday's game.
Analysis: Lewis can sometimes shoot poorly and Fantasy owners will never be happy with the results of that. That said, he can heat up just as quickly. Lewis is averaging 13 points and 6.6 rebounds with 11 3-pointers over his last five games. He remains worth using in most Fantasy leagues for the times when his shot is on.
News: Orlando forward Rashard Lewis had his best game of the season on Saturday night against Charlotte. The Magic have been tweaking its lineup this year, starting Lewis at both the small and power forward positions. He got the nod at the 4-spot versus the Bobcats and stepped up his game with Jameer Nelson out of action. Lewis scored 22 points, tied for a team high, on an 8-for-13 shooting performance. He hit five 3-pointers, and came up clutch in the fourth quarter when the Bobcats were rallying. He grabbed six rebounds in his 34 minutes action and helped the Magic improve to 4-1 with a 91-88 victory.
Analysis: Lewis' previous high this season was 13 points from opening night. He entered Saturday's outing connecting on just 4 of his 20 3-point attempts, so he finally found the range for the Magic. Fantasy owners drafted Lewis for a scoring and 3-pointers, something he hadn't done yet this year. Despite the fact his scoring average has decreased each year since joining the Magic, Lewis can focus on taking good shots and getting rebounds, which helps out owners. If this game is a sign of what lies ahead for Lewis, owners and the Magic will be pleased. The season is young and Orlando plays four games in Week 3 (Nov. 8-14), so he may be worth taking a gamble on as a low-end starter.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis made his first start at small forward on Wednesday since 2007. He finished with 11 points and six rebounds. I felt pretty good, Lewis told the Orlando Sentinel. I got Dwight Howard behind me blocking shots, so hes going to help. But at the same time just playing my defensive roles, I thought I did a pretty good job. I messed up a couple times, but I thought I did a pretty good job.
Analysis: The Magic are experimenting with the starting lineup and there is a chance Lewis could continue starting at the 3-spot, which will let him face smaller players on the defensive end. That could translate into bigger offensive numbers as well. He shot just 4 for 13 from the field on Wednesday, but his teammates picked up the slack. Through three games he has just 26 points. His scoring average has decreased each year since joining the Magic, but Lewis doesn't have to be the go-to guy in Orlando. At this time Fantasy owners should reserve Lewis until he turns things around and gets comfortable at his new spot. He has a good upside and should not be cut.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis will start at the 3-spot in Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves according to the team's official website. Ryan Anderson will start at power forward, Lewis' usual spot. He has scored just 15 points this year through two games.
Analysis: The switch will allow Lewis to face smaller players on the defensive end, potentially allowing him to focus more on offense. The move should also allow him to play closer to the basket against a small forward, rather than dealing with T-Wolves power forward Kevin Love. He is normally a No. 3 Fantasy forward, but could potentially have more value if the switch becomes a trend in Orlando.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis shot 60 percent from the field in Thursday's season opener against the Wizards. Lewis, along with the other starters, were rested most of the fourth quarter as the game was well in hand. Lewis finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and one assist. Orlando went on to beat Washington 112-83.
Analysis: Lewis hit his average for points from the preseason on Thursday, but Orlando was too much for Washington to handle. Lewis should be well rested for Friday's showdown with Miami. He is normally a good source of 3-pointers -- had just one on Thursday -- and gives a balanced stat line to Fantasy owners. Continue viewing him as a No. 3 Fantasy forward in all formats.
News: Coach Stan Van Gundy decided to give Rashard Lewis, as well as two other starters, the night off Thursday as the team played the Bobcats in a preseason game. Lewis entered play averaging 13.3 points per game in three preseason games.
Analysis: The Magic are toying with the idea of returning Lewis to his natural small forward position, but there is little reason for Lewis to be pushed in preseason action. He remains an elite source for 3-point shooting and is a solid choice as a No. 3 forward in any format despite a drop in production last season.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis was quiet making his first start at small forward in Friday's preseason game against the Pacers. Lewis had just five points on 1 of 4 shooting in 19 minutes in the 93-86 loss. Lewis also added two assists and three blocks.
Analysis: The Magic have been tinkering with their lineup to see if Lewis can make the move to small forward after spending the past four seasons at the power spot. If he makes the switch, Lewis would go from bumping with big men such as Boston's Kevin Garnett or Los Angeles Lakers star Pau Gasol to chasing Miami's LeBron James or Mike Miller around the perimeter. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the situation as it develops over the course of the preseason. Lewis can be considered a solid mid-round pick on Draft Day.
News: At the start of training camp, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy is experimenting with Rashard Lewis at small forward. A natural small forward, Lewis has spent the past three seasons in Orlando mostly starting at power forward. "I think it gives us more size on the floor if we do that," Van Gundy said after the Magic's first training camp practice Tuesday. "He can get into his post-up game more. We don't lose any shooting on the floor. The concern with him playing the three is never at the offensive end."
Analysis: The switch allowed him to stretch the floor as one of the league's best 3-point shooters and, at a lanky 6-foot-10, offer enough size to guard opponents in the post - an ability that made the Magic a tough matchup. In a matter of months, Lewis would go from bumping with big men such as Boston's Kevin Garnett or Los Angeles Lakers star Pau Gasol to chasing Miami's LeBron James or Mike Miller around the perimeter. Lewis has said he prefers to play small forward. He has trimmed some weight - about 10 pounds - this offseason and worked on his quickness, agility and footwork preparing for the transition. These factors could lend themselves to a resurgent season for Lewis, who took a major step back in Fantasy appeal last year.
News: Maybe this is why Magic forward Rashard Lewis has been struggling in the Eastern Conference finals: He's been playing with a viral infection. Lewis says he's been sick the "whole series" against the Boston Celtics. "Overall it effects you," he said after Orlando's shootaround Wednesday. "I've been throwing up. I haven't been at full strength. I've been feeling weak, my legs been feeling weak. I find myself getting tired very fast in the first quarter. You know, when you can't hold food down you have no energy in your body to go out there and perform." Lewis was planning to take IV fluids before Game 5 on Wednesday night for the fourth straight game. He said he's feeling better and expects to start, but is not completely healthy. It has certainly looked that way. After averaging 17 points per game in the second round against Atlanta, Lewis is shooting 29 percent against Boston and is averaging seven points a game. The Magic's highest-paid player, he's in the third season of a $118 million, six-year contract, has been criticized for his performance. "Regular season, I probably would have sat out," Lewis said. "Not to make no excuses, it is the playoffs. You just got to go out there and give it 110 percent. It's the playoffs. I've got to drag myself out there if anything."
Analysis: Lewis isn't expected to miss any time for the remainder of the playoffs. He should be fine for the start of the 2010-11 season, and we like Lewis as a solid Fantasy option in all leagues. He is worth drafting with a mid-round pick in all formats.
News: After posting 18 points against the Spurs on Friday, Magic F Rashard Lewis match that feat, putting up 18 against the Grizzlies on Sunday. Lewis shot 6 of 8, including five 3's, while collecting three rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Lewis has now scored in double figures in four of his last five games.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 12.4 points and three rebounds over his last five games. He stills deals with consistency issues and that probably won't change much during the final weeks of the regular season. With the Magic playing five times during Fantasy Week 24 (April 5-14), consider Lewis a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Orlando F Rashard Lewis was held to just six points in a win over the Mavericks on Thursday. Lewis shot 2 of 6 from the field, hitting two 3-pointers and collecting three rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 11.2 points and 3.6 rebounds over his last five games. Consistency remains a key issue for Lewis who is capable of occasionally putting up high scoring numbers. Until he can improve upon his consistency, Lewis remains a low-end Fantasy option in most formats.
News: For the third consecutive game, Orlando F Rashard Lewis scored 20-plus points. This time, he dropped 24 points on the Sixers on Monday night. Lewis shot 8 of 12 from the field while connecting on three 3's. He added four rebounds, two assists and a block in 39 minutes.
Analysis: Lewis is playing stellar basketball as of late and has averaged nearly 23 points per game over his last three contests. However, Lewis does struggle with his shooting consistency and is averaging just 14.8 points over his last five contests. Until he can establish some consistency, Lewis remains a low-end Fantasy forward.
News: Orlando F Rashard Lewis hit the game clinching 3-pointer with 28.4 second left to help the Magic defeat the Heat on Thursday night. "I was going to make one," Lewis said. Lewis scored 24 points on 8 of 17 shooting while adding 11 rebounds and four 3-pointers. He has now scored 20-plus points on back-to-back nights.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 11.2 points over his last five contests while bringing in five rebounds. Unfortunately for him, his inconsistency doesn't allow for him to be a higher Fantasy option. In his last four games, Lewis has scored 20 or more twice and also scored three points twice. Until he is able to gain any consistency, he remains just a low-end Fantasy option best used in the deepest of leagues.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis broke from some disastrous shooting performances of late by scoring 20 points on Wednesday night against the Spurs and hitting 7 of 10 from the field. He came into the game shooting just 2 for 11 in his previous two contests and scoring a total of six points. On Wednesday, he hit four 3-pointers and added four rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis has been so erratic with his shot this season but Orlando really needs him to come on strong down the stretch as it vies for a deep playoff run. With that in mind, you can see Lewis beginning to turn things around. He retains value in 12-team and deeper leagues but if he can just get hot, he'd be worth more than that.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis had 12 points Sunday against the Lakers. He has scored just 21 points in his last two games. He has shot 7 for 27 (25.9 percent) in his last two games.
Analysis: Lewis has been struggling to produce at the level he has throughout the majority of his career, but he can still contribute consistent scoring in the mid teens and the occasional 20-point game against weaker defensive opponents. He makes for a high-end No. 3 forward and can even still be considered a low-end No. 2 forward in larger leagues -- especially in category leagues where his three-point shooting is still extremely helpful.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis scored 19 points in a win over Philadelphia on Monday. Lewis shot 8 of 12 from the field while hitting three 3's and adding two rebounds and assists.
Analysis: Lewis has upped his scoring over his last five contests, averaging 15.6 points per game. However, he does not provide much in the way of rebounds and assists. Since he doesn't fill out the stat sheet on a consistent basis, Lewis can be used as a low-end Fantasy option in deeper leagues.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis scored 22 points in a win over the Heat on Sunday. Lewis shot 8 of 14 from the floor while adding two assists and two rebounds. It was the first time in his last five games that he has scored 20 or more points.
Analysis: Lewis has been fairly consistent, but not the way Fantasy owners expect him to be. He is averaging 14.2 points per game with 3.8 rebounds over his last five contests. With three games during Fantasy Week 19 (March 1-7), Lewis provides his true Fantasy value in only the deepest of leagues.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis hit a huge 3-pointer late on Sunday to secure a win over Cleveland, 101-95. Lewis finished the game 2 for 6 from 3-point range and 5 for 12 overall from the field over 37 minutes. Lewis scored 15 points and added four rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: Lewis has hit at least two 3-pointers in four straight games and is averaging 14 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals per night over his last five. He is no longer the consistent Fantasy option he once was, but he has solid value in 12-team and deeper leagues. Orlando only plays three games in Week 18 (Feb. 22-28).
News: Orlando F Rashard Lewis scored 19 points as the Magic fell to the Cavs 115-106 on Thursday. Lewis played 34 minutes, shooting 6 of 14 from the field while adding four rebounds. He also shot 3 of 9 from downtown.
Analysis: Lewis has reached double figures in his last five games and has averaged 14.8 points per game during that span. While he does not produce much in other statistical categories, Lewis shows a consistency with his scoring ability and makes for a viable Fantasy option in all leagues.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis nailed three three-point shots on Monday during a win over the Hornets. Lewis, who went 5 for 9 overall in the game over 37 minutes, scored 18 points. He added four boards and two steals.
Analysis: Lewis has at least two threes in five straight games and is averaging 14.4 points, 4.4 boards and 1.2 steals per game over that span. He's getting in double figures in scoring but hasn't had many big scoring nights. His consistency, however, keeps him a viable Fantasy play in most leagues.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis scored 14 points, including a clutch shot that sealed the win as the Magic defeated Boston 96-89 on Sunday. Lewis played 37 minutes and shot 5 of 13 from the field while adding two rebounds and assists.
Analysis: Lewis has scored in double figures for 12 straight games and is averaging 14.2 points over his last five games. He is a viable Fantasy No. 2 forward in all formats.
News: Orlando F Rashard Lewis scored 12 points and made a 3-pointer that gave the Magic a one point lead with less than 10 seconds to go, but it wasn't enough as the Magic fell 92-91 to Washington on Friday. Lewis played 35 minutes shooting 5 of 10 from the floor while adding five rebounds and two steals.
Analysis: In his last five games, Lewis has had point totals of 23, 17, 15, 13, and 12 all in that order. His minutes have remained the same at around 33, but the point production has decreased. This should not fool Fantasy owners however because Lewis is averaging right around his season total of 15 points per game. He is still a viable No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis scored 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting to guide Orlando to a 104-86 victory over Atlanta on Saturday. Lewis played 31 minutes and added three rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis has scored in double figures in eight straight games for Orlando. With much attention being focused on Vince Carter, Lewis has been able to flourish averaging 18.4 points per game over his last five contests. His role will only increase in the lineup and Lewis is viable No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Orlando F Rashard Lewis made the go-ahead layup with 1.3 seconds remaining, and the Orlando Magic overcame a 16-point deficit to beat the Boston Celtics 96-94 on Thursday night. "Turned the corner with my right hand, took it to the basket and was expecting the defense to collapse," he said. "I was surprised when I turned to the basket there was nobody there." Lewis led the Magic with 23 points. "Rashard saved me," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "We couldn't get Vince the ball, it was a poorly designed play and Rashard bailed my butt out." Lewis played 36 minutes shooting 8 of 13 from the field and adding eight rebounds.
Analysis: With much attention going to Vince Carter, it was only appropriate that Lewis made the winning basket. Teams will be focusing on doubling down on Carter, therefore freeing up Lewis. In his last five games, Lewis has averaged 18.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. His role will only increase in the lineup and Lewis is viable No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Orlando C Rashard Lewis scored 19 points on 6 of 16 shooting as the Magic fell 99-94 to Memphis on Monday. Lewis added five rebounds and three assists in 38 minutes of play.
Analysis: In his last five games, Lewis is averaging 17.6 points per game with 5.6 rebounds. With Vince Carter back in the lineup, look for Lewis to get more shots as teams will double down on Carter. He remains anywhere from a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Orlando F Rashard Lewis scored 15 points in helping the Magic defeat Sacramento 100-84 on Friday. Lewis shot 5 of 13 from the field in 27 minutes adding six rebounds and two assists. This was the fourth straight game that Lewis has scored in double figures.
Analysis: In his last four games, Lewis has averaged just over 15 points per game and is getting back to the double-digit form he had earlier in the season. With Vince Carter back in the lineup, look for Lewis to get more shots as teams will double down on Carter. He remains anywhere from a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy forward.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis scored 18 points Monday night against the Lakers, hitting 3 of 7 three-pointers. He also grabbed five rebounds in his 36 minutes on the court.
Analysis: After routinely scoring in double figures all season Lewis has scored at least 10 points in only five of his last eleven games without a healthy Vince Carter for opposing defenses to contend with. Lewis' production should continue to improve as Carter returns to form. He remains a No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis scored just seven points on Tuesday in a win at Sacramento. The Magic dominated the game and Lewis managed to play just 29 minutes as he shot 2 for 8 from the field and hit a three. He grabbed two rebounds and blocked a shot as well.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging just 11.2 points per game over his last five and that comes with 3.2 boards and 1.8 steals. He's an excellent source of three-point shooting but has been struggling this season overall without former mate Hedo Turkoglu around. He has the upside of a No. 2 Fantasy forward, but his inconsistency right now makes him a No. 3.
News: Magic PF Rashard Lewis scored 24 points Tuesday against the Raptors, shooting 7 for 15 from the field and 5 for 10 from 3-point range. He also had five rebounds and five steals. The 24 points put him over 20 for only the second time in his last 10 games. He has scored in double figures in only two of his last five.
Analysis: Lewis missed the first 10 games of the season while serving a suspension, and he has offered inconsistent numbers since returning. He was never a huge scorer with the Magic, but he still averaged 17-18 points per game, not the 14.8 he's averaging now. He has the upside of a No. 2 Fantasy forward, but his inconsistency right now makes him a No. 3.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis, who tweaked his already tender ankle in the morning walk-through on Friday, was able to play in Friday night's game against Minnesota. He scored 21 points in the game on 7 for 12 shooting, adding two rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes of action.
Analysis: Lewis' production was just fine against Minnesota on Friday as he scored well-above his season average and he actually led the team in points. As long as the ankle doesn't keep him out of action, Fantasy owners should stick with Lewis as a high-end option.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic forward Rashard Lewis tweaked an already tender ankle a bit during Friday's walk-through, according to coach Stan Van Gundy. The report added that Lewis' injury doesnt appear serious.
Analysis: The report also noted that Van Gundy said he planned to go with the same starting lineup he had in in the team's last game, which would include Lewis. We expect him to play, but Fantasy owners should keep close tabs on his production to see if the ankle limits him at all. For now, he remains a good play in all formats.
News: Magic PF Rashard Lewis had 18 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists Monday against the Jazz. He shot 7 for 14 from the field, including 4 for 8 from 3-point range. He's now averaging 16.4 points in 10 December games.
Analysis: Lewis got off to a slow start after serving a 10-game suspension to start the season, but he seems fine now. He still isn't the elite scorer he once was, but he does enough scoring to serve as a No. 2 Fantasy forward, especially with all of his 3-pointers.
News: Magic PF Rashard Lewis, who averaged 13.0 points per game in his first seven games back from a 10-game suspension, has picked up his play of late. He scored 21 points, 15 on 3-pointers, Wednesday against the Raptors to give him 20 or more in five of his last eight games. He's averaging 18.5 points during that stretch.
Analysis: That's more like it for Lewis, who isn't the elite scorer he was earlier in his career but is still a pretty good one. He's an elite 3-point shooter and a good enough rebounder to serve as a No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Magic PF Rashard Lewis, who had his first 20-point effort last time out, had another Wednesday against the Knicks, finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds to give him his third double-double of the season. He shot 6 for 8 from the field, including 5 for 7 from 3-point range.
Analysis: As far as scoring goes, Lewis often has to take a back seat to Dwight Howard and Vince Carter, but he's still good for 15-20 points per game. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy forward, especially in categorical leagues, where his 3-pointers come in handy.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis had his first big performance on Sunday in a win at New York. He was 8 for 15 from the field, scoring 26 points and adding eight rebounds and an assist. It was the first time this season he had managed to score more than 20 points in a game.
Analysis: Lewis missed the first 10 games of the season due to suspension and had struggled some to open up the year. It now seems like he has gotten his shooting touch back and is safe to get active in all formats as a high-end Fantasy option.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis apparently needed one game to get his rhythm back. Two days after struggling in his return to the team, Lewis scored 17 points on Wednesday against the Thunder. That is not all he did. He added 10 rebounds and nine assists as he just missed a triple-double. Lewis hit two threes and shot 7 of 16 from the field.
Analysis: Lewis looked much better on Wednesday and can officially be considered back now. Treat him as a high-end Fantasy option for use in all leagues.
News: After a slow start, Magic PF Rashard Lewis finished with 10 points in his first game back from a suspension Monday against the Bobcats. He looked rusty after serving a 10-game ban handed out by the NBA for testing positive for an elevated testosterone level. The All-Star forward finally found his footing late, sparking a rally that moved the Magic in front for good. He finished the game 4 for 15 shooting, including 0 for 6 from 3-point range. "I think it was just about catching up to the rhythm of the game," Lewis said. "Just taking my time and not rushing shots. Early in the game I feel like I was kind of rushing the 3-point ball, so I was shooting it flat."
Analysis: Lewis is a prolific 3-point shooter who typically averages in the neighborhood of 18 points and six rebounds per game. Once he finds his shot, he'll get back to playing like a high-end No. 2 Fantasy forward again. Get him active in all leagues.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said Thursday that he will start suspended forward Rashard Lewis the very game he becomes eligible. There will be no easing Lewis into the lineup. Lewis, suspended by the league for the first 10 games of the season for taking a banned supplement, can play on Nov. 16 against the Charlotte Bobcats at home. "I'm starting him the first game --- for who, I don't know," Van Gundy said. "It's like when we got Rafer (Alston) at midseason last year. When you know a guy is going to be there long term, you don't mess around."
Analysis: Lewis will likely start at power forward despite the fact the team had planned on having Lewis move back to his more natural power forward position. That will leave Mickael Pietrus as a starter and would push Ryan Anderson -- despite his strong recent play -- to the bench. Lewis will be a must-start Fantasy option as soon as he returns.
News: In a preseason game at Chicago on Monday, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy elected to not play forward Rashard Lewis, who is suspended by the NBA for the first 10 games of the regular season after testing positive for an elevated level of testosterone. "We're not going to have him the first 10 games, so we've got to see these other lineups," Van Gundy said. "I will get him in the next two games, but he won't get a lot of time here because we need to get ready for the start of the season."
Analysis: Lewis' suspension makes him worthless for the first three scoring periods in Fantasy, but you shouldn't let him fall too far in drafts. When healthy, he's still one of the best forwards in Fantasy, contributing plenty of 3-pointers along with 18 points per game, not to mention a few rebounds and steals. In fact, if he slips to far into the middle rounds because of the suspension, he's a good bargain pick in Fantasy.
News: Orlando Magic forward Rashard Lewis has tested positive for an elevated testosterone level and is suspended for the first 10 games of the season. Lewis says in a statement that he took an over-the-counter supplement late last season that included a substance he did not realize was banned by the NBA.
Analysis: Lewis will be suspended without pay for the first 10 regular-season games for which he is eligible and physically able to play. He averaged 19.0 points in the playoffs to help lead the Magic to the NBA Finals and is a vital part of the team's rotation. This will knock down his draft position a tad, but could actually make him a solid value pick as he'll only be missing the first two-plus scoring periods of the season.
News: Starting Magic forwards Rashard Lewis looked rusty in his first game in more than a week after being sidelined with a knee injury in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs against the Sixers. It was part of the reason Orlando was pushed back to the Eastern Conference's No. 3 spot. Lewis scored 15 points in the game on 5-for-11 shooting, adding three rebounds and three assists.
Analysis: Lewis missed the last three games of the regular season with knee tendinitis and it could be something that springs back up on him at some point during the playoffs. However, it shouldn't be a long-term injury and he should be a must-start option again in 2009-2010.
News: Orlando Magic starting forwards Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu say their injuries won't sideline them for the team's playoff opener. Both participated in full-contact drills on Friday.
Analysis: Lewis missed the last three games with right knee tendinitis. The All-Star forward says he's feeling fine and will play normal minutes in the first-round playoff series Sunday against Philadelphia. The pair are the top scorers on the Magic behind center Dwight Howard. Lewis averaged 17.7 points and Turkoglu 16.8 this season.
News: Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy said injured starter Rashard Lewis might be able to play in the Magic's first-round playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers beginning Sunday. Lewis missed the last three games with right knee tendinitis. Coach Stan Van Gundy said Lewis wanted to play in the regular-season finale Wednesday night but told him during warm-ups his knees weren't ready. "I think he will be ready, and I hope he will be, but I just don't know at this point," Van Gundy said.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Lewis prior to the start of the game and hope he can play. When healthy, Lewis is a solid Fantasy option, and he will help try to lead Orlando to a playoff victory against the Sixers.
News: First there were reports that said that Orlando PF Rashard Lewis would miss the season finale against the Bobcats on Wednesday. Then, coach Stan Van Gundy dressed his star player and said he may see action. When the game was all said and done, Lewis remained on the bench and didn't see any minutes as he missed his third straight game with a knee injury as the regular season came to an end.
Analysis: Van Gundy doesn't expect Lewis to miss any time once the NBA playoffs begin, but that is no guarantee. Lewis averaged 17.7 points, 5.7 boards and 2.6 assists per game this season and was a three-point specialist with 220 bombs from downtown. Lewis was perhaps Orlando's second best player behind Dwight Howard and a must-start at all times. The Magic will need him in the playoffs.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports Magic forward Rashard Lewis will likely sit out his third consecutive game Wednesday against Charlotte with tendinitis in his right knee. Lewis only participated in about half of the walk through Wednesday morning. While coach Stan Van Gundy doesn't anticipate seeing Lewis miss any playoff time, he wasn't ready to guarantee he'd be ready to go Saturday or Sunday either for the start of the first round. "I don't think so," Van Gundy said of the possibility of Lewis missing time. "He didn't make it through the walk through, so that's not a great sign. What we were doing was nowhere near what a game like thing would be, so we'll see."
Analysis: Keep Lewis reserved in all daily leagues and hope he can return for the playoffs. When healthy, Lewis is a must-start Fantasy option in all formats.
News: Forward Rashard Lewis was sitting out of the Orlando Magic's game against the New Jersey Nets on Saturday night because of tendinitis in his right knee. With the Magic's chance of catching the Boston Celtics for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference all but gone, coach Stan Van Gundy decided that he would give Lewis a rest Saturday night and again Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks. Van Gundy said there is nothing structurally wrong with the knee but he wants to make sure Lewis, who had not missed a game all season, is healthy for the playoffs.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 17.7 points on the season and is a must-start when healthy. Still, the Magic, with the playoffs locked up, will severely limit his playing time going forward. That may make him someone to keep benched.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis had 22 points, 12 rebounds and four assists Tuesday at Houston. It was Lewis' fourth double-double of the season.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 19.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in his past five games. He is a solid Fantasy option in all formats, especially when he rebounds like this, and keep him active in all leagues at this time.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis made two straight threes to begin the second half on Friday against Cleveland and the rout, for the Magic, was on. Lewis helped the Magic give the Cavs their worst loss of the season by scoring 22 points on 6-of-10 shooting and five threes. He added four rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: Lewis has been on fire from downtown of late with at least four threes in four of his last five games and at least three in all of them. He is averaging 20 points per game over that span with five boards, a steal and a block and should be active in all Fantasy leagues at this time. He's as hot as he's been down the stretch.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis nailed five threes en route to scoring 21 points to help lead the Magic over the Heat on Monday. Lewis was 8-of-12 overall and added four rebounds, a steal and a block.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 20 points per night over his last five games and has a total of 17 threes during that span. Lewis has the ability to score 20 points every time he steps on the court and adds a decent amount of rebounds. He's a must-start across the board.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis led his Magic to a win over the Knicks on Saturday by scoring 27 points on 11-of-18 shooting. Lewis nailed four of 10 three-point attempts and added four dimes and four boards. He also had two steals and a block in a complete game for Orlando all while dealing with tendinitis in his right knee. "A lot of people got a lot of bumps and bruises and are fatigued and legs are tired, but you've got to get through it to try to secure the division and hopefully move into second place in the conference," Lewis said. "Right now, we're still playing for a reason."
Analysis: Lewis was definitely Orlando's team leader on Saturday. He's averaging 14 points, five boards and three dimes per game over his last five but has the potential to eclipse those numbers over the coming week and more. He's a three-point specialist as well and should still be active in all Fantasy formats.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Rashard Lewis has been bothered by tendonitis in his knees, which certainly hasn't helped his shooting stroke, according to coach Stan Van Gundy. "He's had some problems with his knees, some tendonitis...he's great in terms of playing through all that. But I think it's bothered him a little bit," Van Gundy said. "He's had a little but of a tough time. Again, I'm not worried he had (Thursday) off and today off to get him some rest.
Analysis: Van Gundy added that he does not think there's any doubt over the next four weeks he'll pull out of it and start shooting the ball well again. Lewis was 0-of-9 against the Jazz last Sunday and 3-of-15 against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night. He remains worth a start in any format, but at least be aware of the likely reason for his struggles.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis had five points, six rebounds and four assists Sunday against Utah. Lewis has now scored less than 10 points in two of his past three games. He is averaging just 12.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in his past five games.
Analysis: In Lewis' three other games he had 15, 21 and 19 points, so it's not like he's not able to score at a high level. Look for Lewis to step up his play as the Magic fight for the top seed in the Eastern Conference and keep him active as a No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis had 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in Sunday's game in Boston. He is averaging 19.6 points over his last five games.
Analysis: Lewis continues to put up useful totals for Fantasy owners. For a power forward, the rebounds are minimal, but the three-point shooting should make up for that. Continue to view him as a No. 2 forward in any format.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis had 29 points, 12 rebounds and three assists Tuesday against Phoenix. It was just his third double-double of the season.
Analysis: Lewis has become a solid Fantasy option in all leagues and should remain active as a No. 2 forward. Hopefully he will start posting more double-doubles as the season goes on.
News: Orlando F Rashard Lewis scored 23 points and the Magic tied a franchise record with 37 3-point tries in their 106-100 comeback win over the 76ers on Saturday night. Lewis jacked up eight of those three-point attempts, hitting five of those he attempted.
Analysis: Lewis added four rebounds and three assists to his stat line while shooting 8-of-12 from the field on Saturday. It was the first time that Lewis had broken the 20-point barrier in the month of February as he is only averaging 15.6 points over his last five games. This game can be a turnaround performance for him, and he's still a must-start.
News: Magic PF Rashard Lewis had another mediocre performance by his standards Tuesday at Chicago, finishing with 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. He shot 3-for-12 from the field, including 3-for-9 from 3-point range. He is averaging only 14.2 points for the month of February, and has yet to reach 20 points in 11 games.
Analysis: Lewis' struggles have coincided with Jameer Nelson's season-ending injury. The Magic's recent acquisition of Rafer Alston might help in time, but for now, Lewis continues to slump. His potential for points, rebounds and 3-pointers makes him too valuable to sit in Fantasy, however.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis, who was forced to leave Friday's game after taking a hit to the face, was back in action on Sunday and played well in his second straight game. Lewis, seemingly playing better since the team traded for point guard Rafer Alston, scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting with four threes. He added seven rebounds and two blocks.
Analysis: Lewis was really struggling since Jameer Nelson went out with an injury. It seemed that nobody on the Magic could set him up in shooting position and his shot was faltering. With Alston now in Orlando, Lewis has someone who can get him the ball again and he's back to hitting nine threes in his last two games. He remains a must-start at all times and is once again playing well.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Rashard Lewis had a sore neck after being inadvertently struck by in the head by Dwight Howard Friday night, but seemed OK. There is no other indication as to whether or not he will play Sunday afternoon against Miami.
Analysis: Judging by this report, it would appear likely that Lewis is going to be available for Sunday's game. Fantasy owners in daily leagues can take a low-end risk here and activate him. Lewis had his highest points total in five games on Friday and is averaging 15.6 points during that stretch. He remains a must-start across the board. He will certainly be available in weekly leagues for the upcoming scoring period.
News:Rashard Lewis scored 18 points in a 92-80 win over Charlotte on Friday before leaving late after getting hit in the face under the basket from teammate Dwight Howard. Lewis was woozy and didn't return, but the Magic were confident he was fine. He added six rebounds and three assists to his stat line. He is questionable for Sunday's game against Miami.
Analysis: Hopefully the only reason that Lewis didn't come back is because the injury came late in the game and the result was already decided. Lewis had his highest points total in five games on Friday and is averaging 15.6 points during that stretch. He remains a must-start across the board but be sure to check back on his injury situation before finalizing your lineup for the upcoming week.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis is scoring a bit better in the second half of the NBA season but his shot is still struggling with Jameer Nelson done for the year. Lewis led the Magic in scoring on Wednesday night but in a 117-85 loss at New Orleans. Lewis was just 1-of-7 from long range in the game. He added eight assists and five rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis' line of 17-5-8 in Wednesday's game was pretty good but it was his shot that is still off and he can't seem to find his rhythm since Nelson is no longer passing him the ball and running the offense. The way he's playing right now would have him worth using only in 12-team and deeper leagues though he's been a must-start across the board for most of the year. Let's hope he can turn it around shortly.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis isn't playing nearly as well with Jameer Nelson out of the lineup for the Magic. Lewis scored 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting on Wednesday in a loss to Denver. He is averaging over 18 points on the year but hasn't scored that high in six straight games. Lewis was 3-of-7 from deep.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging just 12 points per game over his last five games. He's still hitting threes with two per game over his last five but he's not shooting nearly as well without Nelson getting him the ball in good position. The way he's playing right now would have him worth using only in 12-team and deeper leagues though he's been a must-start across the board for most of the year.
News: Apparently Orlando PF Rashard Lewis missed Jameer Nelson's presence on Wednesday against the Clippers. Lewis scored just seven points on 2-of-6 shooting with Nelson out. He added five assists.
Analysis: Lewis had an off game but is still averaging 15 points, five boards and four assists with almost three threes per night over his last five games. He should bounce back nicely and remains a must-start Fantasy forward.
News: Magic forward Rashard Lewis played through pain Tuesday against Indiana to score 24 points with four assists and four rebounds. An MRI revealed a sprain in Lewis' sore right thumb, reports Florida Today. Lewis, the only Magic player to play in every game this season, was injured in Saturday's loss in Miami when his hand was inadvertently hit by teammate Dwight Howard. Lewis didn't practice Monday and had an MRI test to confirm there were no tears or further damage in the thumb.
Analysis: It appears like Lewis will be fine and should continue to post solid stats. He is a No. 2 Fantasy option at this time.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis led all Magic starters with 24 points on Tuesday night in a win over Indiana. Lewis nailed four threes and added four assists and four rebounds in the game.
Analysis: Lewis is playing at a high level for the Magic with 21 points, six rebounds and three assists per game over his last five. He's a great source of threes with three per game over that span and that comes with a decent amount of blocks and steals to boot.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis put up decent numbers against the Heat in Friday's 103-97 loss to the Heat on Friday. Lewis went 6-of-12 from the field, hitting 3-of-6 from downtown, for 21 points and eight total rebounds.
Analysis: The extra rebounds were a plus, but this is about what Fantasy owners can expect out of Lewis night in and night out. Over his last five games, he has averaged 19.8 points and 5.8 rebounds. He remains a solid No. 2 option in all formats.
News: The best player on the court for Orlando against the Celtics on Thursday night was easily PF Rashard Lewis. Lewis scored 20 points and recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds. He shot 8-of-14 from the field and 3-of-7 from long range and certainly wasn't the reason the Magic lost the game 90-80.
Analysis: Lewis has scored 20 or more points in two in a row and he's averaging around that figure for the entire season. That comes with five boards, three assists, 1.4 steals and almost three three-pointers per night over his last five contests. Continue to view him as a No. 2 forward in any format.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis scored 16 points with four rebounds, four steals and three assists in Friday's game at the Lakers. He is averaging 16.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists over his last five games with 13 three pointers in that span.
Analysis: Lewis continues to put up useful totals for Fantasy owners. For a power forward, the rebounds are minimal, but the three-point shooting should make up for that. Continue to view him as a No. 2 forward in any format.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis continues to play like his consistent self as he scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting in a win over Sacramento on Tuesday night. Lewis added three assists and three boards and was 3-for-5 from long range.
Analysis: Lewis' scoring has been a bit down of late with 16 points per game over his last five down from his season average of 19. Not to worry, though, he's still playing like of the most consistent players in basketball and is nailing almost two threes per night. Lewis remains a must-start in all formats.
News: Orlando PF Rashard Lewis did not hit a single shot from inside the three-point line on Sunday against the Raptors but he still finished with 20 points. All six of Lewis' field goals were 3-pointers in the loss. He was 6-of-16 from the field and 6-of-13 from deep. He added nine assists and six rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 21 points, 5.6 boards, 4.6 assists and almost five threes per contest over his last five games. Five threes. He's one of the best in the NBA from downtown and is playing like a Rotisserie stud across the board. The Magic play four games in Week 11 (Jan. 5-11) and Lewis remains a must-start in all formats.
News: The way he's pouring in the points, Rashard Lewis just might shoot his way into the All-Star game. Lewis set the tone by scoring 16 of his 21 points in the first half and the Orlando Magic rolled over the Chicago Bulls 113-94 for their eighth win in nine games. "Especially in the first half, I felt like I wasn't going to miss a shot," Lewis said. "When I missed one, I was more surprised than anything." Lewis finished with 8-of-17 shooting and three three-pointers. He added seven boards and four assists.
Analysis: Lewis is averaging 21.4 points, 5.6 boards and 3.4 assists over his last five games with 19 threes over that span. That's almost four per game. Lewis is playing like a Rotisserie stud and one who can score in bunches and is worth using in all Fantasy leagues across the board right now.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis was active Monday against the Pistons despite sitting out the shootaround with a bruised ankle. He led the team with 23 points during a 88-82 loss. Lewis was 7-of-17 from the field while adding three rebounds and six assists. Lewis has scored in double figures in every game since Nov. 12. He has hit 20 or more points in six of his last eight games.
Analysis: Lewis hasn't been as explosive of a scorer since leaving Seattle for Orlando in 2007-08, but he still gets the job done on most nights and is a 20-point threat. He could battle this ankle injury for some time if the soreness doesn't go away, but while he is active, he is worth starting in most Fantasy formats.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports Magic forward Rashard Lewis sat out shootaround Monday morning but said he expects to play against the Pistons on Monday night. Lewis said he has a bone bruise on his left ankle after being kicked during the Magic's game Saturday night at Minnesota. "I'm going to play if I have to drag my leg out there," Lewis said. Coach Stan Van Gundy said Lewis' status would be determined before the game.
Analysis: It sounds like Lewis will play, but the Magic might be cautious with him so be careful when setting your lineup. When healthy, Lewis is a No. 2 Fantasy forward in all scoring formats.

News:Rashard Lewis scored 17 points with six rebounds, three blocks and an assist Sunday at Charlotte. He added three three-pointers and has scored at least 13 points in three straight games since he scored just six points against Portland.
Analysis: Lewis had been in a bit of a shooting slump, but seems to be past that now. He continues to be a well-rounded power forward who can help out in both rebounds and three-point shooting. It's hard to find that flexibility in Fantasy.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Rashard Lewis has lost his stroke in the last two games, struggling badly from long range. Lewis, who was averaging 20 points after the first five games of the season, scored just 11 points in the last two games combined.
Analysis: Lewis hit only five of 22 shots Monday, missing all 10 of his 3-point attempts. But the fact that he attempted 22 shots and 10 from beyond the arc should show you that he's going to get plenty of chances to shoot his way out of his funk.

Analysis: Lewis saw his scoring average "slip" to 18.2 points per game last year -- his first in Orlando. Playing alongside Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu, he'll have to fight for points in the frontcourt, but he'll do enough to serve as a No. 2 Fantasy forward again.

News: In Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 27-Nov. 2), the Magic will play three teams that allowed at least 100 points per game last season, which would indicate a positive start for them in Fantasy.
Analysis: Dwight Howard will match up against Al Horford to start the season, but will get either Darko Milicic or rookie Marc Gasol at Memphis and then will play against Spencer Hawes rather than Brad Miller due to an ongoing suspension he will be serving. The matchups seem promising for Howard to get off to a hot start. The same goes for Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu, who should be active in any format.

Analysis: A season after averaging 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his final season with the Sonics, Lewis averaged 18.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his first season with the Magic. saw a different role in Orlando then what he was used to in Seattle. He wasn't needed to score as much with Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu sharing the scoring load with him and there just aren't many rebounds that get away from Howard in the paint. Fantasy owners can expect similar production out of him for the 2008-09 season, but he still puts up numbers worthy of a low-end No. 1 Fantasy forward. You'll just have to adjust expectations.
News: A season after averaging 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his final season with the Sonics, Rashard Lewis averaged 18.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his first season with the Magic. He started 81 games, mostly at power forward.

News:Rashard Lewis didn't play for the Orlando Magic last year, and even he was sick of getting beat by the Detroit Pistons. It happened four straight games in last year's playoffs, and four in the regular season before that. Detroit also handily won their first of four contests this year. On Monday, Lewis scored 16 points -- including the game-winner as time expired -- and the Magic beat Detroit 102-100. "We took them to the end tonight - lets you know that when we come to play our hardest and play at the defensive end we can be one of those good teams too," said Lewis, the longtime Seattle Supersonics star who signed with Orlando in the offseason. Lewis also added six rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis has played well in his first season with the Magic and should continue to be started in all formats as a No. 2 option.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Magic SF Rashard Lewis is just now starting to look like the highly-acclaimed free agent he was this summer when the Magic give him a six-year, $118 million contract. Instead of deferring to Dwight Howard, he now is being more aggressive offensively. The change is evident. In his last five games, he has scored 20-plus points. He has also taken 15 or more shots in five of his last six games and 10 or more 3-point attempts in three of those contests.
Analysis: After hitting rock bottom (by his standards) by averaging 17.4 points per game in December, he's turned up his play in January. Keep him active as a No. 2 forward in Fantasy. The fact that he now feels as though he has the green light to shoot away, that's great news for Fantasy owners.
News: Magic F Rashard Lewis scored 26 points Tuesday against the Bulls. It was Lewis' fifth straight game with 20 or more points after reaching that level only once the previous 12 games. He hit seven of 10 shots, including four of five 3-point attempts, but was more excited by the fact he got to the foul line seven times and made six. "It's time for me to get a little more aggressive," Lewis said. "I can't just sit out on the wing and be a three-point shooter. That's really not my game. I can do a lot more things for this team."

News:Rashard Lewis missed his first game of the season Saturday because of the lingering soreness in his neck that has been bothering him for almost a week.
Analysis: Lewis had been playing in obvious discomfort the previous two games, even going to see a chiropractor in Milwaukee when the Magic played there Wednesday. News: Magic F Rashard Lewis missed Saturday's game against the Grizzlies because of a neck spasms.
Analysis: This injury sounds like one of the day to day variety, but keep an eye on any developments before deciding whether or not to start Lewis for the upcoming scoring period. His scoring and rebounding has dropped a bit since coming from Seattle, but he remains a must-start in Fantasy anyway. He's more of a No. 2 forward than a No. 1, though.
News: F Rashard Lewis collected his first double-double as a member of the Magic on Friday at Charlotte. He scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Analysis: Lewis has only been held under 20 points twice in 11 games to start the season and he's averaging a very steady 21.4 ppg. We'd like to see more rebounds from him as he's only averaging 4.5 per contest, but that's not a reason to sit him in any format.

News: Magic F Rashard Lewis score 26 points in Wednesday's season opener vs. Milwaukee. He finished with six boards and was 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.

News: Rashard Lewis scored 16 points in his first preseason game in three weeks, lifting the Magic over the San Antonio Spurs 99-90 on Thursday night.
Analysis: It was the last chance for Lewis and the rest of the Magic to find rhythm before starting the regular season Wednesday against Milwaukee. The All-Star forward played 31 minutes, slightly more than the 30 minutes in his only two preseason games before getting hurt. The good news is that he appeared healthy and is now once again a must-start for the season's first week.
News: Magic SF Rashard Lewis didn't play Friday against the Heat. He remains day-to-day after spraining his ankle Wednesday against the Bobcats.

Analysis: The injury is not supposed to be serious, but he's off to a bad start. Lewis hobbled into the locker room immediately. X-rays were negative. The Magic are calling Lewis "day to day," but he is unlikely to play Friday against the Miami Heat. He's still a safe choice in the early rounds on Draft Day, but continue to monitor his progress -- or lack thereof in the preseason.
News: SF Rashard Lewis left the Orlando Magic's preseason game Monday night with cramps. Lewis hit the ground and couldn't make it down the court in the third quarter. The Magic called a timeout and pulled him, but Lewis remained on the bench. The All-Star forward was playing his first game for Orlando after an offseason sign-and-trade with the Seattle SuperSonics. "It was like my calf muscle just locked up," Lewis said. "When it moved down toward the achilles', it kind of scared me a little. Thought for a second it might be serious. Never had one that felt like that before." In the fourth period, Lewis informed Coach Stan Van Gundy he was available to return, but he never got back in the game.
Analysis: Cramps are usually nothing to worry about, but keep an eye on Lewis' status over the next few days if you haven't drafted yet. If you own him, don't be too concerned. Lewis is a solid No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Rashard Lewis formally joined the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, leaving the Seattle SuperSonics after nine seasons when the teams completed a sign-and-trade deal for the high-scoring forward. The Magic sent Seattle a conditional second-round pick, while the SuperSonics earned a trade exception believed to be in the $9 million range. Lewis agreed to terms with the Magic earlier this month, yet no deal could be closed until Wednesday, the first day that the league's free agent moratorium was lifted. The six-year deal - Lewis agreed to a five-year pact, but the sign-and-trade allows an extra year to be worked into the contract - is expected to be worth at least $110 million.
Analysis: Lewis averaged a career-best 22.4 points last season for Seattle. He's averaged more than 20 points in each of the last three seasons, and is the SuperSonics' all-time leader in 3-point field goals with 973. Expect him to benefit from playing alongside Dwight Howard in Orlando, and consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Rashard Lewis made the decision to sign a "maximum contract" with the Magic late Monday night after meeting with Magic officials in Orlando. The terms of the deal are still being worked out. He's expected to receive a deal in the range of $15 million per season. The Magic wouldn't comment Tuesday, citing league rules that an agreement cannot be announced until July 11.
Analysis: Orlando can only sign Lewis to a five-year contract, while Seattle could sign Lewis to a six-year deal. Lewis' agent said the Magic and Seattle are in discussions about a sign-and-trade deal that would give Lewis that sixth-year, help Orlando clear some salary and give Seattle something in return. Lewis is coming off his best season, when he averaged career-highs in points (22.4), rebounds (6.6) and assists (2.4). His age (he turns 28 next month) and his versatility to hit 3-pointers or score on the low block make Lewis a valuable No. 1 forward option in Fantasy play.
News: Rashard Lewis found out very quickly Sunday just how coveted he is in the NBA free agency marketplace. Lewis' agent, Tony Dutt, said 20 teams contacted him in some form by late Sunday morning regarding the 6-foot-10 forward, who opted out of the final two years of his contract with the Seattle SuperSonics to become a free agent.
Analysis: The Sonics get the first chance to meet with Lewis. New general manger Sam Presti led a Seattle contingent that had discussions with Lewis and Dutt early Sunday in Houston. Lewis is coming off his best season, when he averaged career-highs in points (22.4), rebounds (6.6) and assists (2.4). His age (he turns 28 next month) and his versatility to hit 3-pointers or score on the low block make Lewis a targeted commodity for many teams.
News: Rashard Lewis' agent said Friday night that the SuperSonics' longest-tenured player and second-leading scorer had officially opted out of the final two years of his Seattle contract.
Analysis: That makes him eligible for free-agency beginning on July 1, but doesn't necessarily end his career with the Sonics. The Sonics have one advantage over the rest of the NBA with Lewis now in free-agency: They are the only team who can offer him a six-year contract. Lewis, who turns 28 in August, left $21 million behind in his Sonics contract. He is considered to be one of the NBA's most attractive free agents this summer. The market will include Chauncey Billups, Gerald Wallace and possibly Vince Carter -- if Carter does what Lewis did and opts of out his contract with the New Jersey Nets.
News: Seattle forward Rashard Lewis scored 20 points Monday against Houston and passed Shawn Kemp to move into fourth place on the team's all-time scoring list.
Analysis: Lewis, aside from his injuries, has played well this season and been a solid Fantasy option. Continue to keep him active in your lineup and reap the benefits.
News: Rashard Lewis has averaged 34 points over the past two games -- both Seattle victories -- as he heads into Friday's matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. Lewis scored 33 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Seattle SuperSonics to an improbable victory over the host Denver Nuggets Wednesday night.
Analysis: With 10 rebounds, Rashard Lewis had his 12th double-double this season and third in his last six games. Consider him a must-start Fantasy stud down the stretch.
News: Sonics forward Rashard Lewis said his back hurt badly enough that he questioned whether to even play Tuesday. But with Ray Allen out, Lewis said he did not want to let his teammates down. Lewis scored 13 of his 22 points in Friday's comeback. He scored 21 of his 35 in the fourth quarter Tuesday. He made 16-of-17 free throws after complaining that he did not get enough respect from the officials in the loss to San Antonio on Sunday.
Analysis: Lewis is a No. 1 forward now that Ray Allen is out. Start him and hope for more outings like this.
News: "There is a lot of pressure on Rashard (Lewis) with Ray (Allen) out. So if he doesn't score the ball for us, we have a chance to do what you just saw." -- Sonics coach Bob Hill, on Rashard Lewis' 13 points Sunday against the Spurs.
Analysis: Lewis should see an increase in scoring now that Allen is out. Expect a better performance in his next game, Tuesday against Minnesota.
News: With Ray Allen out, Seattle forward Rashard Lewis had the final two plays of the game called for him Wednesday. He was fouled on the Sonics' last possession, making both free throws to tie the game. Lewis scored Seattle's final seven points of the game. He finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds.
Analysis: Lewis should see an increase in scoring if Allen (ankle) is out for an extended period of time. He is a No. 2 Fantasy forward in all scoring formats.
News: The Sonics worked for two days on the decision-making of Rashard Lewis while he is getting double-teamed. Sonics coach Bob Hill wants Lewis to take quicker shots or attack the double-team.
Analysis: The fact that he gets double teamed goes to show how valuable of an offensive weapon he is to the Sonics. Hopefully the extra coaching will pay off down the stretch.
News: Lewis finished with 13 points and became Seattle's career leader in 3-pointers made in Tuesday's game against the Pistons. Lewis passed Gary Payton with his 918th 3-pointer as a Sonic with 7:37 left in the first quarter.
Analysis: Lewis continues to produce for his Fantasy owners and remains a solid No. 2 forward in most formats.
News: Rashard Lewis complained after Friday's game at Boston that he did not get enough shots. He took 11 shots, fewer than all but one other starter.
Analysis: It will be interesting to see how many shots he'll get on Sunday at Toronto, but we expect the Sonics to go to him early and often. He's the teams second best scorer behind only Ray Allen. Lewis doesn't suffer too many poor shooting performances and should still be considered an excellent No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Rashard Lewis refused to do a television interview before Wednesday's game, saying the last time he did that, he had a poor performance. Lewis then went out and shot 5-for-15 and scored 11 points against the Sixers.
Analysis: Apparently, it wasn't the TV interview. Not to worry, though. Lewis doesn't suffer too many poor shooting performances and should still be considered an excellent No. 2 Fantasy forward.
News: Seattle forward Rashard Lewis calmly drained a three-pointer with 4.8 seconds left Tuesday against New York and then watched as Stephon Marbury missed a free throw with 0.9 seconds remaining, handing Seattle a 100-99 victory at Madison Square Garden. Lewis finished with 24.
Analysis: Lewis has scored at least 21 points in his past five games. He is back to playing like a No. 1 forward and should be used in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Sonics coach Bob Hill said he will not call more plays for forward Rashard Lewis now that he has said he will become a free agent this summer. Hill said he already calls a large majority of plays for Lewis and Ray Allen.
Analysis: It's not like losing plays will bother Lewis. He had 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists Wednesday against the Clippers. Consider him a No. 2 forward option.
News: The Sonics have offered forward Rashard Lewis a two-year, $25 million contract extension.
Analysis: Lewis is likely to turn it down and opt out of his contract on July 1, becoming an unrestricted free agent. Expect him to show off his skills the rest of the way as he works for a big payday in the offseason. That makes him a must-start in all leagues. Not that he wasn't already.
News: In three games since returning from a hand injury that kept him out since late December, Sonics F Rashard Lewis has averaged 19.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He has also averaged 38.7 minutes per game in those three games.
Analysis: Lewis hurt Fantasy owners while he was out the entire month of January, but now that he is back, there should be no reason not to start him in all Fantasy leagues. He is a must-start when healthy.
News: According to the Tacoma News-Tribune, Sonics F Rashard Lewis is thinking about not wearing the glove he wore in his return to action Saturday night vs. Sacramento.
Analysis: Lewis was rusty in his return to action, but he doesn't seem to worried about it. "I knew I would be a little rusty. But I thought I would still be able to make shots," Lewis said. "I didn't really find a rhythm tonight. I missed a lot of easy shots I usually make." He'll find that rhythm soon and should already be active in most leagues.
News: Seattle F Rashard Lewis (hand) returned to the team's starting lineup Saturday against the Kings. Lewis has not played since late December.
Analysis: It appears safe to get Lewis back into all active Fantasy lineups. He is a must-start when healthy and don't hesitate putting him back into lineups immediately.

Analysis: He isn't expected to play in Wednesday's game at Indiana, and plans to return to Seattle for another workout and an important visit with his doctors Friday. He should be reserved in all leagues for this scoring period, but could be available for a full slate the following week. When healthy, Lewis is a must-start Fantasy forward.
News: According to the Seattle Times, Sonics F Rashard Lewis (hand) flew with the team to Washington D.C., but will remain on the sideline for Monday's game against Washington. Lewis, who underwent surgery to repair a strained tendon sheath in his right hand, will return to the practice court Tuesday.
News: Sonics coach Bob Hill said F Rashard Lewis, Seattle's second-leading scorer who missed his 20th consecutive game Friday because a tendon injury in his right hand, has been cleared to practice and could play as soon as next weekend.
Analysis: Lewis was originally projected to return Feb. 20 against Memphis, but with the Sonics on a four-game losing streak, it looks as though the team wants him back sooner than later. It is still not recommended that you use Lewis for the upcoming scoring period (Feb. 5-11), but just get prepared to put Lewis back into Fantasy lineups in the coming weeks. He is currently owned in just 67 percent of Fantasy leagues, so if he is available in your league, make sure to pick him up. When healthy, Lewis is a must-start Fantasy forward.
News: According to the Seattle Times, injured F Rashard Lewis (hand) had his most intense workout since being injured on Friday. He ran sprints and shot layups and long-range jumpers while wearing a new protective glove over the strained tendon sheath in his right hand. The black glove, which Lewis calls his "Michael Jackson" glove, has a layer of padding that rests on the back of his hand.
Analysis: Lewis, who sustained the injury Dec. 20, has another evaluation after the Sonics return from a trip to Washington and Indiana on Feb. 8. But he expects he might have to wear the glove, a splint and have his index and middle fingers taped during games for the remainder of the season to prevent injury if slapped. He is not projected to return until Feb. 20.
News: Rashard Lewis doesn't have to play one-handed pickup games anymore. The Seattle forward has been given doctors clearance to start shooting again with his injured right hand that has sidelined the former All-Star since late December. Lewis can't participate in contract drills yet, but was out shooting for an extended period before the SuperSonics' game Friday night against Minnesota. Although he was just given the OK to start shooting this week, Lewis hopes to return either right before or right after the All-Star break. "I still got a lot of stiffness in it and a little sore, and I don't have the fully range of motion in my hand yet," Lewis said.
Analysis: Lewis was injured in the first minute of Seattle's 103-95 loss to Dallas on Dec. 20, straining the tendon sheath on the back of his right hand. He has continued to do cardiovascular work and occasionally would take on teammates - mostly young center Johan Petro - playing pickup games with just his left hand. Lewis was averaging 21.9 points and 6.8 rebounds when he was injured. Continue to keep Lewis reserved in all Fantasy formats. When healthy, he is a must-start Fantasy option.
News: Sonics F Rashard Lewis will have his surgically repaired right hand examined on Wednesday. If he is cleared, he can begin exercising the hand, which he says he still cannot make into a fist.
Analysis: The team is still expecting Lewis to make his return sometime in February, so while this is encouraging news, it is nothing to get overly excited about just yet. Continue to keep Lewis reserved in all Fantasy formats. When healthy, he is a must-start Fantasy option.
News: Seattle forward Rashard Lewis will miss a $2.9 million signing bonus because he will not make the All-Star team. However, he can get the bonus if he averages 7.9 rebounds for the season. Out until the All-Star break with an injured hand, Lewis currently is averaging 6.8 rebounds.
Analysis: It's always good for Fantasy owners to know their players have money on the line. Expect a strong rebounding push when Lewis returns in mid-February.
News: Rashard Lewis will have his surgically repaired right hand examined Jan. 25 to determine if he can doing strengthening exercises.
Analysis: He said he is eyeing a return just before the All-Star break or just after. When healthy, he's a solid No. 2 Fantasy forward in any format.
News: As a workout while he is injured, Rashard Lewis has been running the stairs at the various arenas where the Sonics play. He is recovering from right hand surgery. The 6-10 forward had been averaging 21.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game before the Dec. 20 injury.
Analysis: Lewis' timetable remains the same and we can expect him back around the middle of February or later. When healthy, he's a solid No. 2 Fantasy forward in any format.
News: Rashard Lewis wore a gauze wrap under black Velcro straps. Those are keeping him from moving his surgically repaired hand. That's not all Lewis wants immobilized. Even though he is likely to miss the next two months, the SuperSonics' second-leading scorer wants his team to keep him from moving elsewhere in free agency after this season. "I'm pretty confident I will be a Sonic for a while. I want to be a Sonic," Lewis said. Lewis talked before his team hosted New Orleans on Tuesday night, his first public words since surgery last Friday stitched tendons back together in his right hand. He doesn't believe missing the next six to eight weeks will affect his decision whether to void the final two years of his Sonics contract. He sounded confident it won't come to that. He remains hopeful that the Sonics will offer him an attractive contract extension.
Analysis: Lewis, a 2005 All-Star, also said he doesn't think missing perhaps the next 20 games will lower his value. Averaging 21.9 points this season, he hasn't missed more than 11 games in any of his seven, full NBA seasons. He has met with general manager Rick Sund since the injury sustained Dec. 20 while trying to block a shot by Dallas' Erick Dampier. Lewis said Sund agreed with his decision to have surgery immediately rather than just try lengthy rehabilitation. Although that does not help Fantasy owners who drafted Lewis in the early rounds. Unfortunately his timetable remains the same and we can expect him back around the middle of February or later. When healthy, he's a solid No. 2 Fantasy forward in any format.
News: Rashard Lewis, the Seattle SuperSonics' second-leading scorer, is expected to miss at least two months because of a torn hand tendon. The 6-foot-10 forward was to have surgery on his right hand Friday, the team said. An MRI on Thursday revealed an injury to the tendon sheath on the back of his hand. Analysis: Lewis, a 2005 All-Star, is averaging 21.9 points and could become a free agent after the season. He leads the Sonics in 3-point shooting (40.3 percent) and double-doubles (six) after starting the team's first 27 games. At the same time, I was watching their defense and they were coming when I made a move or on the dribble, so I was able to beat the defense before they got to me."

Allen and Lewis are worthy of early round selections with the other three worthy of late round picks in leagues of 12-plus teams. Ridnour could be a bit of a surprise this season, but not enough to draft him earlier than the ninth or tenth round in leagues of 12-plus teams.
