Wizards forward Paul Pierce expects to play Tuesday

(12/22/2014) Despite missing practice Monday, Wizards forward Paul Pierce told the media he plans to play Tuesday against the Bulls, reports The Washington Post.

Pierce missed Tuesday’s game against the Timberwolves with a toe injury, but was able to play in the next two games.

The Wizards are 3 1/2-point favorites.

(12/19/2014) Wizards small forward Paul Pierce will play Friday against the Heat, the Washington Post reports.

Pierce missed Tuesday's game with a toe injury but will miss just the one game. He has averaged 13.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in 23 games.

The 18-6 Wizards are 6-point favorites in Miami against the 12-14 Heat.

(12/19/2014) Despite dealing with a toe injury, Wizards forward Paul Pierce is hopeful of playing Friday at Miami, reports the Associated Press.

Pierce missed Tuesday’s win against Minnesota, but his official playing status for Friday’s game has yet to be determined.

Forward Otto Porter replaced Pierce in the starting lineup Tuesday and scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Wizards are 4-point favorites over the Heat Friday.

(12/16/2014) The Wizards announced forward Paul Pierce will not play Tuesday against the Timberwolves.

Pierce is suffering from a sore right toe. Pierce sustained the injury Dec. 3 against the Lakers. It will be the first game Pierce has missed this season. In 23 games, Pierce is averaging 13.2 points and 4.7 rebounds.

Forward Otto Porter will replace Pierce in the starting lineup for the first time this season. Porter is averaging 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds over 20.0 minutes per game. The Wizards are 12 1/2 point favorites over the Timberwolves Tuesday.

(12/4/2014) Wizards forward Paul Pierce did not practice Thursday with a toe injury. He left Wednesday's game against the Lakers with the injury. Pierce is averaging 12.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. 

While Nene, however, participated fully in practice. He has missed the Wizards last five games after leaving the team's Nov. 22 game against the Bucks with a foot injury. 

The Wizards will host the Nuggets Friday.

(12/4/2014) Wizards small forward Paul Pierce said after exiting Wednesday's game with a toe injury that he jammed the toe, which had been bothering him recently, and that he's "day-to-day," the Washington Post reports.

"I felt it in the third quarter," Pierce said. "I got it stepped on real hard and it was tough for me to come back and put pressure on it. It was very inflamed. I’m doing a little better right now so we’ll see how it feels in the next couple days."

The Wizards play the Nuggets Friday in their next game before squaring off with the Celtics, Pierce's longtime team, Sunday and Monday in a home-and-home pairing.

(12/3/2014) Wizards small forward Paul Pierce suffered a toe injury in Wednesday's game against the Lakers and will not return, the team announced.

Pierce played 24 minutes Wednesday before coming out of the game for good. He finished the night with 14 points on 6 of 15 shooting as well as five rebounds, two assists and one block. The Wizards have a day off before facing the Nuggets at home Friday.

(11/22/2014) Wizards forward Paul Pierce scored a season-high 25 points on 8 of 16 shooting, including 4 of 5 shooting from three-point range, while racking up 10 rebounds in his team's 111-100 win over the Bucks Saturday.

Pierce hadn't managed more than 17 points in a game before coming up big Saturday, making all of his field-goal attempts in the final 22 minutes of the game but making just one of his three free-throw attempts during that hot stretch. He also racked up two assists but fouled out late in the game. His next game comes Tuesday against the Hawks.


Wizards G Paul Pierce ejected after arguing with officials

(11/1/2014) Wizards guard Paul Pierce was ejected just before halftime of Saturday's contest against the Bucks for arguing a foul with the officials.

Pierce received a technical after committing a clear-path foul on Brandon Knight with seven seconds remaining in the first half. He argued the call and received a technical. After Knight shot his first technical free throw, Pierce argued some more with the officials and was eventually ejected. He finished with two points in 17 minutes.

"He lost his composure a little bit," coach Randy Wittman said. "I didn't think he deserved the second (technical), I think that was too quick. He deserved the first one. I think he was trying to get one, to be honest with you, and the second one was uncalled for."

According to Comcast SportsNet Washington, Pierce will be fined at least $6,000 by the league for his actions.

Pierce seemed to injure his right knee just prior to halftime. He was seen limping back into the locker room. Following halftime, though, Pierce was on the floor to begin the second half. He appears to have avoided a major injury.

Pierce appeared to injure his right knee. He limped to the locker room just before halftime. The club has not officially announced an injury at this time. Given that it's the preseason, Pierce may be held out for the rest of the game even if he's fine.

(7/13/2014) The Wizards and forward Paul Pierce agreed on a two-year contract at the mid-level exception, according to ESPN's Marc Stein on Saturday. Pierce will have a player option in the second year of his deal.

Pierce averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season for the Nets, the lowest averages of his career across the board.

Nets not considering sign-and-trade with Paul Pierce

(7/3/2014) The Nets are not interested in working out a sign-and-trade deal with the Clippers for veteran forward Paul Pierce, as Nets general manager Billy King told ESPN.com Thursday.

The Clippers have looked into the possibility of working out a sign-and-trade to bring Pierce west, in a move that would reunite him with former coach Doc Rivers. However, King said a deal does not make sense for their side, and is unlikely to happen.

ESPN.com also reports the Nets are interested in bringing Pierce back on a short-term deal worth upwards of $6 million, though negotiations are ongoing. Pierce averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season, the lowest averages of his career across the board.

(4/16/2014) The Nets will be without their entire starting lineup for Wednesday's finale in Cleveland, though health is not a big concern heading into the playoffs. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett are getting the night off to rest before the postseason starts, while Joe Johnson (calf), Deron Williams (knee) and Shaun Livingston (toe) are all receiving treatment for minor injuries.

(4/16/2014) Nets forward Paul Pierce was able to play through a shoulder injury Tuesday, logging 21 minutes in a 109-98 loss to the Knicks. Pierce scored 13 points on 4 of 8 shooting in the game, with one 3-pointer made. He added one rebound, one assist and one steal in the loss.

With the Nets locked into their playoff seeding, Pierce might not even play in the season finale against the Cavaliers Wednesday. If not, he will finish the season averaging 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in 75 appearances, the worst averages of his career across the board.

(4/14/2014) Nets forward Paul Pierce tweaked his shoulder during Sunday's win over the Magic. Head coach Jason Kidd told ESPN New York he could have brought him back into the game "if it had more meaning."

"I could've brought him back, but there was no need to bring him back," Kidd said. "There was no reason to put him in harm's way so we finished the game without him. Now he gets a little rest to get ready for Tuesday."

Pierce should be available to play against the Knicks on Tuesday.

(3/10/2014) The Nets will bring forward Paul Pierce and center Kevin Garnett back on Monday against the Raptors. Andrei Kirilenko will miss Monday's game, according to The Record.

Pierce left Sunday against the Kings with a sore right shoulder. He is averaging 13.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists over 56 games. Garnett missed five games in a row because of back spams. He is averaging 6.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season.

Kirilenko suffered a sprained ankle during Sunday's game against the Kings. His next chance to play will come Wednesday at Miami.

Pierce sustained the injury in the opening minutes of the game. He had just two points on 1 of 1 shooting. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

(2/24/2014) Just a day after scoring 11 points, Nets forward Paul Pierce was back to his old self on Sunday, scoring 25 points on 9 of 17 shooting, including 4 of 7 from behind the arc, and 3 of 3 from the free throw line in a 108-102 victory over the Lakers.

Pierce did all of his work in 33 minutes of game action, also adding seven rebounds and four assists. He is averaging 16.6 points and 4.6 rebounds over his last five games.
