Nets not considering sign-and-trade with Paul Pierce

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7/3/2014) The Nets are not interested in working out a sign-and-trade deal with the Clippers for veteran forward Paul Pierce, as Nets general manager Billy King told ESPN.com Thursday.

The Clippers have looked into the possibility of working out a sign-and-trade to bring Pierce west, in a move that would reunite him with former coach Doc Rivers. However, King said a deal does not make sense for their side, and is unlikely to happen.

ESPN.com also reports the Nets are interested in bringing Pierce back on a short-term deal worth upwards of $6 million, though negotiations are ongoing. Pierce averaged 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season, the lowest averages of his career across the board.
