Report: Jazz looking to deal PG Trey Burke

(6/25/2015) The Jazz are open to a draft-day deal involving point guard Trey Burke, according to a report from the Deseret News

Burke, who averaged 12.8 points per game in both of his seasons with Utah since coming out of Michigan, fell out of the team's starting rotation this year.

(4/16/2015) Jazz guard Trey Burke said Thursday he was looking forward to the offseason to improve his overall game, the team announced.

"I think I've still got a lot of room for improvement," Burke said. "I look forward to getting better."

During the offseason, Burke said he will work on changing his body to improve his quickness, reports the Salt Lake Tribune.

"I have to be quicker," Burke said.

Despite missing the playoffs, Burke said the team proved it can compete with the top teams in the league.

"We showed we can beat the top teams in this league, so I think we're excited about the future," he said.


Jazz's Burke, Favors will play Wednesday: Gordon Hayward out

(4/15/2015) Jazz guard Trey Burke has been cleared to play in Wednesday's game at Houston, reports the team's radio play-by-play announcer.

Burke has missed the last three games with a sore back. After sitting out the last two games to rest, forward Derrick Favors will also play.

Meanwhile, forward Gordon Hayward has been ruled out of the game. It will be the third-straight game Hayward has missed because of a sore Achilles.

The Jazz are 11 1/2-point underdogs.

(3/24/2015) Jazz guard Trey Burke had a night to forget Monday, going 4-for-22 in his team's loss to the Timberwolves, telling the Salt Lake Tribune that he let his teammates down. 

Burke was just 2-for-13 from beyond the arc, and his overall shooting numbers are down from his rookie campaign. 

"I feel like I kind of let my teammates down," he said. "I got some great looks, but I feel like I shot too many 3s. ... It was a bad night for me, and I've got to do better. Period."


NBA announces AS skills competition participants

(2/4/2015) Jazz point guard Trey Burke scored a team-high 21 points on 7 of 13 shooting, including 3 of 8 shooting from behind the arc, in his team's 100-90 loss to the Grizzlies Wednesday.

Burke turned in his highest point total since Jan. 3 while playing 31 minutes off the bench, but the Jazz still took their fourth loss in the last five games. He also tallied four assists, three rebounds and one steal in 31 minutes. The Jazz will move ahead to face the Suns in Phoenix Friday.


Quin Snyder wants Trey Burke to improve on defense

(2/3/2015) Moved to a reserve role a couple of weeks ago, Jazz guard Trey Burke was told exactly what he needs to do by coach Quin Snyder to compete for the starting role again.

“He told me he needs to see me improve more on defense,” Burke said, via Deseret News.

Snyder said he's been impressed with Burke's willingness to take constructive criticism during some of his struggles this season. Burke was replaced by guard Dante Exum in the starting lineup.

“There’s been a number of times this year where there’s been something that’s happened where I’ve pointed it out, and there’s been consequences,” Snyder said. “Every time that’s happened, he’s thanked me for holding him accountable.”


Rising Stars Challenge participants for All-Star Weekend named

(1/28/2015) The 20 first- and second-year participants for the Rising Stars Challenge held on Feb. 13 during All-Star Weekend have been announced.

The U.S. team will be represented by 76ers guard Michael Carter-Williams and forward Nerlens Noel; Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine and forward Shabazz Muhammad; Magic guards Elfrid Payton and Victor Oladipo; Jazz guard Trey Burke; Pistons guard Kentavious Caldwelll-Pope; Nets center Mason Plumlee; and Hornets center Cody Zeller.

The world team will be represented by Jazz guard Dante Exum and center Rudy Gobert; Bucks guard Giannis Antetokounmpo; Nets guard Bojan Bogdanovic; Hawks guard Dennis Schroder; Bulls forward Nikola Mirotic; Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins and center Gorgui Dieng; Thunder center Steven Adams; and Celtics center Kelly Olynyk.


Jazz guard Trey Burke impresses coach coming off the bench

(1/25/2015) Jazz point guard Trey Burke may be coming off the bench for Utah, but it's not keeping him from being productive. In 26 minutes, Burke scored 19 points on 7 of 13 shooting, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range, in Utah's 108-73 win over the Nets Saturday.

"I was locked in from the start and I was looking at ways to attack the defense before I even got out there," Burke said.

Coach Quin Snyder said he was able to anchor the defense well Saturday.

"He is one of the guys that's finding a good balance between scoring and playmaking," Snyder said. "The other thing I thought he did is he guarded. When your point guard is at the point of the attack, is tough-minded defensively and willing to talk, that anchors your whole defense."

In two straight games coming off the bench, Burke is averaging 14.5 points 2.5 assists and two rebounds.

Burke missed Monday’s loss to the Pacers while dealing with strep throat. It will be the third straight game Kanter has missed while dealing with an ankle sprain. Center Rudy Gobert has been starting in Kanter’s place.

(1/6/2015) With guard Trey Burke (strep throat) and center Enes Kanter (sprained ankle) sidelined, Jazz forwards Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward shouldered the scoring load in Monday's loss to Indiana.

Favors led the way with 27 points and 11 rebounds. He shot 10 of 16 from the floor, and 7 of 10 from the charity stripe. He also added one assist, two blocks and one steal while logging 43 minutes of game action. He has doubled up 10 times this season.

Hayward scored 24 points and grabbed seven boards while shooting 6 of 17 from the floor. He missed all five of his attempts from downtown, but knocked down 12 of 13 free throw attempts. He added three assists and one block while logging 42 minutes of game action in a 105-101 defeat.
