(11/23/2014) Jazz point guard Trey Burke scored a season-high 20 points on 8 of 12 shooting, including 2 of 5 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 106-94 loss to the Pelicans Saturday.

Burke was just 1 of 8 from the field in a two-point outing Friday but bounced back big on night later. He also managed to tally four assists and one block in 34 minutes Saturday. Burke will try and build on the excellent performance Monday against the Bulls.

Burke scored a team-high 23 points on 9 of 15 shooting, including 5 of 8 from 3-point land. He did all of his damage in 38 minutes of game action, also adding four assists and two rebounds. He is averaging 11.0 points, 4.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds over his last five games.

Burke complained about the back after hitting the game-sealing shot against Miami Saturday night. He's averaging 12.7 points and 5.5 assists per game on the year.

"Don't think it's serious, but it's something you keep your eye on," Burke said.

Burke, who has averaged 12.7 points and 5.5 assists over 38 games played, is questionable for Tuesday's game.

(2/9/2014) Jazz guard Trey Burke experienced some lower back pain and could barely walk to the locker room following Saturday's win over the Heat, the Deseret News reports.

Burke managed to score 13 points on 5 of 11 from the floor, including 3 of 8 from downtown. Two of his three treys came in the third quarter. He also contributed with three assists and one rebound while logging 27 minutes of game action.

Burke has averaged 8.8 points, 4.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds over his last five games played. His status remains uncertain for Utah's next game on Tuesday against the Lakers in Los Angeles.

Burke was questionable to play Friday due to illness and ceded playing time to backup point guard Alex Burks, seeing 22 minutes or less of action for the first time since Dec. 11. Burke added six assists and three rebounds before fouling out. He has averaged 13.1 points and 5.7 assists over 34 games played.

Burke went 8 of 17 shooting from the field, including 1 of 5 from downtown, and 3 of 4 from the free throw line. He finished the game with a team-high 20 points and 12 assists. He also chipped in with three rebounds, one block and two steals while logging 37 minutes of game action in a 110-89 victory.

Burker has scored in double figures in five straight games. He has averaged 16.4 points, 8.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds over that span.

Trey Burke doesn't consider Achilles injury serious

(1/14/2014) Jazz guard Trey Burke scored 18 points and dished out eight assists in Monday's 118-103 win over the Nuggets, but came up limping early in the game and had to have his ankle re-taped. However, he doesn't consider the injury, which was near his Achilles, serious moving forward, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

"I slid," Burke said after the game. "I think it was a little wet spot out there and it wasn't my ankle, it was kind of near my Achilles. It's fine. It's just a little sore. I don't know what I did. It doesn't seem serious at all so I'm going to get treatment on it, ice it and see how it feels tomorrow."

Burke has averaged 13.5 points and 5.4 assists over 27 games played.

Burke's 30 points were the most by a rookie in one game this season. He also added eight assists, seven rebounds and one steal while playing 40 minutes in the win. Burke has averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 16 games played.

It was Burke's second double-double of the year, including a 19-point, 10-rebound effort two games prior to Wednesday's win, in which he also had two rebounds and one steal. He's averaged 12.8 points, 4.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 12 games played.

He finished the game with a season-high 20 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals while logging 32 minutes of game action in a 112-104 victory.

Trey Burke still limited by finger injury

(11/25/2013) Jazz guard Trey Burke moved into the starting lineup Sunday, but acknowledged he is still on a minutes limit as he works his way back from preseason surgery on his right hand.

"I understand the process," he told the Salt Lake Tribune. "Obviously you want to get into a rhythm and flow out there. For me, I don’t want to get in there and be thinking, 'I'm about to come out.' So I try not to think about it as much as possible."

Burke played 20 minutes Sunday in his first start, totaling four points and four assists. He also admitted that he is still a bit concerned about the injury when he takes the court.

"Sometimes I try to baby it when I don't even need to really because it's taped," he said. "Sometimes when a hard pass comes at me, I kind of, like, catch it more with my left hand then my right. But I think thats mental."

(11/18/2013) Jazz guard Trey Burke (finger) will take part in at least some of Tuesday's practice, including some contact, the Deseret News reported Monday. Burke has been limited to one-on-one work, and coach Ty Corbin said he is happy with how his recovery is going.

"He's actually feeling a lot better," Corbin said. "I'm encouraged by his progress thus far and how he said he's feeling."

Burke was cleared to increase activity last week, but that was supposed to be limited to dribbling and shooting, so his recovery appears to be moving faster than expected. He is expected to be re-evaluated Nov. 25.
