Suns G Archie Goodwin credits D-League for expanded role

(3/18/2015) Struggling to find playing time for most of his first two seasons in the NBA, guard Archie Goodwin may have found a role with the Suns as a steady backup and he credits his experience in the D-League for the increased time, according to the ValleyoftheSuns.com.

“The things they were doing like sending me to the D-League and consistently having me play down there made me ready,” Goodwin said. “They did a good job of keeping me in game shape and getting me ready to play.”

Playing time opened up for Goodwin after the Suns traded off guards Goran Dragic, Isaiah Thomas and Tyler Ennis.

Goodwin has played 37 percent of his overall minutes this season in just his past four games, which has seen him average just under 9.0 points per game.

Goodwin recently became the first Suns player age 20 or younger since Amar’e Stoudemire to score 10 points or more in at least three consecutive games.
