Nets G Sergey Karasev undergoes successful knee surgery

(3/13/2015) Nets guard Sergey Karasev underwent successful knee surgery Thursday and is expected to make a full recovery in time for next season's training camp, per the team's website. 

The surgery, which repaired damage due to a patellar dislocation, was performed by Nets' Medical Director Dr. Riley Williams III at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. 

Karasev played in 33 games for the Nets this season, posting averages of 4.6 points and 2.0 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game.

(3/11/2015) Nets guard Sergey Karasev has been diagnosed with a dislocated patella and a torn MCL in his right knee and he will miss the rest of the season, the team announced.

Karasev suffered the injury during Tuesday's contest and he will undergo surgery Thursday. In 33 games, he averaged 4.6 points and 2.0 rebounds.

(3/11/2015) The Nets guard situation is in flux as Sergey Karasev will miss Wednesday’s game against the Heat with a knee injury, while Alan Anderson (back) and Markel Brown (ankle) have been downgraded to doubtful, according to the team.

All three players were injured in Tuesday’s loss to the Pelicans. Anderson and Brown traveled to Miami, but their ailments may keep them sidelined. Karasev injured himself after just six minutes of playing time and did not travel with the team, undergoing further testing on his knee.

(3/10/2015) Nets guard Sergey Karasev sustained a sprained right knee and did not return to Tuesday's game against the Pelicans, the team announced. 

Karasev played just six minutes before suffering the injury and grabbed two rebounds with one assist. He will undergo further tests on the knee Wednesday and not travel with the team to Miami for Wednesday's game.

Karasev is averaging 5.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26 games.

Brooklyn is a 10-point underdog at Washington on Friday.

(1/6/2015) Nets guard Sergey Karasev left Monday's game against the Mavs in the fourth quarter after injuring his hip, according to the New York Post. However, he said after the game he was fine and he would be ready to play Wednesday against the Celtics.

Karasev played 26 minutes on Monday against the Mavs, totaling 10 points, two rebounds, four assists and one steal. The second-year guard is averaging 5.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 21 games.

(12/16/2014) A sore left side will keep Nets guard Sergey Karasev sidelined for the entirety of the fourth quarter of Tuesday's home game against Miami, per ESPN.

Karasev, who made his fourth consecutive start, sustained the injury in the third quarter. He finished the game with 11 points on 4 of 9 shooting from the field, adding three points, three boards and one block while logging 22 minutes of game action.

Following the loss to Miami, Karasev told reporters he's 50-50 for Brooklyn's game in Toronto on Wednesday. If Karasev is unable to play, the team will likely turn to Bojan Bogdanovic or Alan Anderson for the start.

(10/24/2014) The Nets exercised third-year options on center Mason Plumlee and forward Sergey Karasev Friday, the team announced. The decision will keep both players in Brooklyn through the 2015-16 season, and both players have team options for their fourth seasons in 2016-17.

Plumlee appeared in 70 games as a rookie and was surprisingly effective, averaging 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in just 18.2 minutes per game. He shot 65.9 percent from the field and road his success to an appearance on Team USA's gold medal-winning FIBA World Cup appearance.

Karasev appeared in just 22 games after the Cavaliers made him the 19th overall pick in last year's draft. Karasev was acquired by the Nets in a three-team deal in July. 


Cavaliers, Nets, Celtics work out three-team trade

(7/9/2014) The Cavaliers opened up cap space in a three-team trade Wednesday, according to ESPN.com.

According to reports, the Cavaliers have traded guards Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev to the Nets and center Tyler Zeller to the Celtics, while the Nets sent Marcus Thornton to Boston. It is not clear what, if anything, the Cavaliers will receive in return.

(3/23/2014) Cavaliers forward C.J. Miles and guard Sergey Karasev were unable to play Sunday night against the Knicks.

Miles, who is dealing with an ankle sprain, saw his first game action in nearly a month on Tuesday, playing two minutes off the bench against the Heat. He has missed his last two games since. Karasev has not played in a game since March 4. He is dealing with right knee tendinitis.

Their next chance of returning will come Tuesday at home against Toronto.

The trio's next chance of returning will come Sunday against the Knicks in New York.

The Charge play home games Saturday and Sunday, and Karasev should see some playing time after logging just 8.9 minutes over 14 games this season. He has averaged 2.2 points on 32.1 percent shooting.

(10/21/2013) Cavaliers rookie forward Sergey Karasev hurt his ankle on Monday during preseason action against Philadelphia. Karasev suffered a sprain and could not return, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The 19-year-old rookie played 10 minutes and took six shots. Unfortunately, he only made one of them, a 3-pointer. He scored three points and took four 3-point attempts. Karasev added a rebound and a steal.

Karasev is attempting to win a rotation spot this season as a rookie. That said, he is very raw and has a steep learning curve.

(10/14/2013) Cavaliers forward Sergey Karasev is currently having visa issues and will not play in Tuesday's preseason game, The News-Herald reports. He is expected to have the issues cleared up shortly and return to play for Cleveland. 

The rookie is unlikely to crack Cleveland's rotation this season. The 19-year-old has a lot of learning to do in the NBA.
