(12/19/2014) Nets shooting guard Sergey Karasev is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Cavaliers.

Karasev suffered a left oblique strain Tuesday and missed Wednesday's loss in Toronto. He has averaged 4.0 points on 43.2 percent shooting in 11 games.

The Nets are 11-point underdogs in Cleveland against the Cavaliers.

Karasev missed Wednesday’s loss to the Raptors with a left oblique strain. In 11 games, Karasev is averaging 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds.

Karasev, who is averaging 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, has seen extended playing time over the last week as the Nets were dealing with multiple injuries.

(12/16/2014) A sore left side will keep Nets guard Sergey Karasev sidelined for the entirety of the fourth quarter of Tuesday's home game against Miami, per ESPN.

Karasev, who made his fourth consecutive start, sustained the injury in the third quarter. He finished the game with 11 points on 4 of 9 shooting from the field, adding three points, three boards and one block while logging 22 minutes of game action.

Following the loss to Miami, Karasev told reporters he's 50-50 for Brooklyn's game in Toronto on Wednesday. If Karasev is unable to play, the team will likely turn to Bojan Bogdanovic or Alan Anderson for the start.

Karasev has scored two points in three appearances, while Brown has yet to appear in a game during the 2014-15 season.


Nets exercise options for Mason Plumlee, Sergey Karasev

(10/24/2014) The Nets exercised third-year options on center Mason Plumlee and forward Sergey Karasev Friday, the team announced. The decision will keep both players in Brooklyn through the 2015-16 season, and both players have team options for their fourth seasons in 2016-17.

Plumlee appeared in 70 games as a rookie and was surprisingly effective, averaging 7.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in just 18.2 minutes per game. He shot 65.9 percent from the field and road his success to an appearance on Team USA's gold medal-winning FIBA World Cup appearance.

Karasev appeared in just 22 games after the Cavaliers made him the 19th overall pick in last year's draft. Karasev was acquired by the Nets in a three-team deal in July. 


Cavaliers, Nets, Celtics work out three-team trade

(7/9/2014) The Cavaliers opened up cap space in a three-team trade Wednesday, according to ESPN.com.

According to reports, the Cavaliers have traded guards Jarrett Jack and Sergey Karasev to the Nets and center Tyler Zeller to the Celtics, while the Nets sent Marcus Thornton to Boston. It is not clear what, if anything, the Cavaliers will receive in return.

(3/23/2014) Cavaliers forward C.J. Miles and guard Sergey Karasev were unable to play Sunday night against the Knicks.

Miles, who is dealing with an ankle sprain, saw his first game action in nearly a month on Tuesday, playing two minutes off the bench against the Heat. He has missed his last two games since. Karasev has not played in a game since March 4. He is dealing with right knee tendinitis.

Their next chance of returning will come Tuesday at home against Toronto.

(3/22/2014) The Cavaliers have a slew of injured players, and none will be able to make their returns Saturday against the Rockets. Coach Mike Brown told reporters prior to the game forward C.J. Miles (ankle) and Luol Deng (ankle) and guard Sergey Karasev (guard) will all sit out the game as a result of their injuries.

The trio's next chance of returning will come Sunday against the Knicks in New York.

The Charge play home games Saturday and Sunday, and Karasev should see some playing time after logging just 8.9 minutes over 14 games this season. He has averaged 2.2 points on 32.1 percent shooting.

(11/8/2013) The Cavaliers' struggles on the wings earned Sergey Karasev his biggest role of the season Friday against the 76ers, but he gave little reason to think he has earned more. Karasev was scoreless in five minutes Friday, in his second NBA action.

Cavaliers lost the game 94-79, and Karasev has now played six minutes in two games.

(10/21/2013) Cavaliers rookie forward Sergey Karasev hurt his ankle on Monday during preseason action against Philadelphia. Karasev suffered a sprain and could not return, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

The 19-year-old rookie played 10 minutes and took six shots. Unfortunately, he only made one of them, a 3-pointer. He scored three points and took four 3-point attempts. Karasev added a rebound and a steal.

Karasev is attempting to win a rotation spot this season as a rookie. That said, he is very raw and has a steep learning curve.

(10/14/2013) Cavaliers forward Sergey Karasev is currently having visa issues and will not play in Tuesday's preseason game, The News-Herald reports. He is expected to have the issues cleared up shortly and return to play for Cleveland. 

The rookie is unlikely to crack Cleveland's rotation this season. The 19-year-old has a lot of learning to do in the NBA. 


Cavaliers bring rookies into the fold

(8/28/2013) The Cavaliers have finalized rookie deals with all of their draft selections, after agreeing to terms with No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett to a four-year rookie contract last week. He team also announced the finalization of deals with No. 19 pick Sergey Karasev as well as Carrick Felix , a second-rounder.

Bennett, who is likely to come off the bench at bother forward spots is recovering from shoulder surgery, but remains on track to start training camp with the team. He averaged 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game as a freshman for UNLV.

Karasev, a 6'7" small forward, played in 11 games in the Eurocup tournament last season, averaging 16.1 points and 3.0 rebounds per game for Triumph Moscow. Felix earned a guaranteed contract from the Cavaliers despite being a second-round pick out of Arizona State.
