Ryan Kelly drops season-high 24 points vs. Nuggets

(3/7/2014) Lakers forward Ryan Kelly came off the bench and dropped a season-high 24 points on 7 of 14 shooting, including 4 of 8 from downtown, and 6 of 6 from the free throw line in a 134-126 loss to the Nuggets on Friday.

Kelly did all of his damage in 33 minutes of game action, also adding 11 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal. He is averaging 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds over his last five games.

(2/5/2014) Lakers forward Ryan Kelly stepped into a starring role Wednesday against the Cavaliers, with the team ravaged by injuries and foul trouble.

Kelly entered the game with a career high in scoring of 20 points, and he surpassed that easily while playing 42 minutes. He scored 26 points on 8 of 16 shooting, while finishing the game as the team's lone big man not felled by injury or disqualified by foul trouble. He added six rebounds and a steal in the 119-108 win.

Kelly has grown into a solid role for a second-round pick, especially one who barely played through the season's first two months. He is averaging 7.3 points per game for the season.

(1/23/2014) Lakers rookie forward Ryan Kelly earned his third start of the season and had a tough time finding his shot in a 109-102 loss to Miami Thursday night.

Kelly was held to single-digit scoring for the first time since Jan. 15, as he went 3 of 10 shooting from the field, including 1 of 4 from downtown, and 0 of 2 from the free throw line. He finished the game with seven points and five rebounds. He also chipped in with two assists and one steal while logging 26 minutes of game action.

Kelly has made at least one 3-pointer in five consecutive games. He has averaged 13.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists over his last five games.

(1/17/2014) Lakers rookie forward Ryan Kelly saw extended minutes for the second consecutive game, as he scored a season-high 20 points on 6 of 12, including 2 of 4 from downtown, and a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line in his team's 107-104 victory over the Celtics on Friday.

Kelly did all of his damage in 34 minutes off the bench, also adding four rebounds and one block. He has averaged 7.8 points and 4.0 rebounds over his last five games played.

(1/9/2014) Lakers forward Ryan Kelly had another quiet game Wednesday against the Rockets, as he continues to contribute in just a reserve role off the bench.

Kelly scored just two points while missing all three of his field-goal attempts in the game, and added just one rebound as well. He did pick up five fouls in just 14 minutes in the 113-99 loss.

Kelly has played at least 13 minutes in each of the team's last eight games, but is averaging just 4.8 points per game in that span. The rookie has yet to score in double figures in 14 NBA games.

(12/27/2013) Lakers forward Ryan Kelly tried to play through a mild left ankle sprain and was non-factor during Friday's loss to the Jazz in Utah.

Kelly was limited to just two points on 1 of 1 shooting. His lone bucket came in the paint in the third quarter. He also added one rebound while logging 13 minutes of game action in a 105-103 defeat.

Kelly has only played in seven games this season and has yet to score more than four points in a game. He is averaging 2.3 points over his last four games.

(12/27/2013) Lakers forward Ryan Kelly is dealing with a mild left ankle sprain, but he is expected to play in Friday's game against the Jazz, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Kelly is expected to remain a part of the team's rotation after playing a season-high 17 minutes on Christmas Day. He has averaged 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds over seven games played.


Ryan Kelly stepping into bigger role

(12/26/2013) Lakers rookie forward Ryan Kelly will remain a part of the team's regular rotation moving forward, coach Mike D'Antoni told the Los Angeles Times Thursday.

"He knows how to play, defensively and offensively," D'Antoni said. "Defensively he's the first one to get to the right spot.  I think that going forward, he can keep earning more time. I'm pretty excited about him."

Kelly has appeared in just seven of the team's first 29 games, but has seen the floor in each of the last three games. He played a season-high 17 minutes Wednesday, scoring four points with one rebound and one assists in a 101-95 loss to the Heat.


Lakers send two to D-League

(11/14/2013) The Lakers assigned forwards Ryan Kelly and Elias Harris to the D-League Thursday, SNY.tv reports.

Kelly scored six points and pulled down two rebounds in the two games where he saw action. Harris has recorded minutes in two games, collecting one rebound, one assist and one steal.

(10/5/2013) Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni told ESPN that rookie forward Ryan Kelly is still a week away from participating in drills. Kelly, who is dealing with a foot injury, is not expected to see any action in the preseason.

"He's starting to progress," D'Antoni said. "He's getting on the floor now."
