Report: PG Shane Larkin signs two-year contract with Nets

(7/2/2015) Point guard Shane Larkin is on the move, but he won't have to go far, as the former Knick is signing a two-year deal worth $3 million with the Nets, per Yahoo Sports. 

Larkin played well in a backup role last season, averaging 6.2 points and 3.0 assists in 76 games for New York. He'll join a crowded backcourt in Brooklyn, where the Nets feature Deron Williams, Jarrett Jack and Steve Blake at the point guard position. 


Shane Larkin scores 13 off bench in Knicks loss

(3/20/2015) Shane Larkin scored 13 points off the bench for the Knicks in a 97-81 loss to the 76ers on Friday. 

Larkin scored nine points in the second quarter, hitting four of his five shots. 

For the game, Larkin made a season-high six field goals in 10 attempts from the floor. He also matched a season-high with six rebounds. 

The Knicks next play at the Raptors on Sunday. 


Knicks' Jose Calderon (Achilles) to be reevaluated in two weeks

(3/2/2015) Knicks guard Jose Calderon is wearing a walking boot to protect his sore Achilles and he will be reevaluated in two weeks, reports ESPN New York.

A recent MRI revealed Calderon is dealing with a left Achilles strain. In 42 games, Calderon is averaging 9.1 points and 4.7 assists. Guard Shane Larkin is expected to see his minutes increase with Calderon sidelined.

Knicks unveil injury report for Monday's game; Melo not listed

(1/18/2015) After playing in Thursday’s loss to the Bucks, Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is not listed on the team’s injury report for Monday’s game against the Pelicans, reports The Record.

Anthony had missed the last two weeks with a knee injury, but it appears the absence improved his health.

Meanwhile, forward Amar'e Stoudemire is listed on Monday's injury report as questionable as he continues to deal with a knee injury. Stoudemire was also able to play in Thursday’s loss to the Bucks, but he did not record a point in eight minutes of action.

Guard Shane Larkin is listed as probable with an ankle issue, while a calf injury has center Andrea Bargnani listed as out.

(1/15/2015) Knicks point guard Shane Larkin was forced out of Thursday's contest against the Grizzlies in London with a sprained left ankle, per the Record. He suffered the injury in the second half and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Larkin finished scoreless with one rebound and one assist in 19 minutes of game action. He's averaging 6.4 points and 4.0 assists over his last five games.

The Knicks will return to action on Monday against the Pelicans.

(11/22/2014) Once Jose Calderon returns from a calf injury, the backup point guard job "will be a nightly thing" between Shane Larkin and Pablo Prigioni, Knicks coach Derek Fisher told the New York Post.

"I think it is important that each guy stays ready at every position. But right now we are just trying to figure out what works at that time," Fisher said. "There will be times when Pablo is the best fit. There will be times when Shane is the best fit. And we will just do in that moment what we think is best for the group. They have both done some good things for us so I wouldn't put any one of them out of the mix with Jose coming back."

With the Knicks looking to rebuild, Larkin is an asset that a cash-strapped and mostly draft pick-less New York team would value highly. Calderon reinvented himself as a spot-up shooter for the Mavericks last season, finishing the year with a career-best 191 made three pointers. Dalembert only managed to give the Mavericks 6.6 points in 20 minutes per game last season. Ellington couldn't crack the Dallas rotation to log meaningful stats.

(2/12/2014) With Devin Harris sidelined by an ankle injury, Mavericks guard Shane Larkin stepped into a larger than usual role Wednesday against the Pacers.

Despite playing 23 minutes, Larkin barely made an impact, scoring one point while missing all five of his field-goal attempts in an 81-73 win. Larkin did have a good game passing the ball, dishing out five assists with just one turnover, along with two rebounds in the win.

Larkin missed some time early in the season but has mostly been out of the rotation lately due to his subpar play. He has appeared in just six of the team's last 10 games.

(1/18/2014) Mavericks guard Shane Larkin enjoyed his best performance of the season, scoring nine of his season-high 18 points in the fourth quarter of Friday's win over the Suns in Phoenix.

Larkin converted a pair of free throws with 11.1 seconds remaining to seal a 110-107 win for the Mavericks. He went 6 of 8 shooting from the field, including 2 of 3 from downtown, and 4 of 5 from the free throw line. He also chipped in with five assists, one rebound and two steals while logging 27 minutes of game action.

Larkin has averaged 6.3 points, 2.8 assists and 1.8 rebounds over his last five games.

Larkin has scored in double figures just once in 25 games played. He has averaged 3.2 points, 1.8 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game this season. Fellow rookie Gal Mekel will be the only other healthy backup point guard behind Jose Calderon if Larkin is unable to play Monday.

Larking played just nine minutes, but made a big of an impact, with three assists and three steals. He also scored three points on 1 of 3 shooting, and did not turn the ball over once in a 97-94 win.

Larkin will likely see his role grow as a reserve guard as he gets into shape.
