Spurs acquire PG Ray McCallum from Kings

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(7/9/2015) The Spurs dealt a future second-round pick to the Kings in exchange for point guard Ray McCallum, per the San Antonio Express-News

McCallum, a second-round pick in 2013, averaged 7.4 points and 2.8 assists for the Kings last season. An offensive-minded point guard, he will have to improve his defensive tendencies to make an impact with the Spurs, who do need backcourt help after losing Cory Joseph and Marco Belinelli.

Kings' Karl says Ray McCallum, Andre Miller will split minutes

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/26/2015) With guard Darren Collison being sidelined for the near future, Kings coach George Karl said he plans to split Collison's role between Ray McCallum Jr. and Andre Miller, reports CowBellKingdom.com.

"I think right now probably my desire is to split them, probably 24-24 is kind of in mind what it’s going to end up," Karl said. "Probably defensively, Ray would be in the game when it counts and [Miller] would be in the game probably offensively. At the end of the game, probably Andre has more experience, but Ray’s got to learn how to play there too."

Kings rule guard Darren Collison out of Wednesday's game

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/24/2015) Kings guard Darren Collison has been ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies, the team announced.

It will be the seventh straight game Collison has missed because of a hip injury. Guard Ray McCallum Jr. has seen his minutes increase with Collison sidelined.

Kings' Darren Collison to see specialist for hip injury

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/23/2015) With Kings guard Darren Collison continuing to be plagued by a hip flexor injury, Collison will fly to Los Angeles on Tuesday to see a specialist, the team announced.

Collison has missed the last six games because of the hip issue. In 45 games, he is averaging 16.1 points and 5.6 assists. Guard Ray McCallum Jr. has been starting in Collison's place.

Kings list Sessions doubtful, Moreland out for Wednesday

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(12/30/2014) The Kings listed guard Ramon Sessions (back) as doubtful for Wednesday’s game at Boston and ruled guard Eric Moreland (shoulder) out.

Ray McCallum Jr. is expected to see an increase in minutes if Sessions cannot play.

Ray McCallum looks out of place in start

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/27/2014) Kings guard Ray McCallum struggled in his first career start Wednesday, playing 43 minutes in a 107-99 loss to the Knicks.

McCallum started in the place of Isaiah Thomas, who missed his first game of the season with a quad injury. He finished with 10 points, but shot just 3 of 14 from the field, missing both of his three-point attempts. He filled up the box score well otherwise, however, adding six rebounds, five assists and a steal, while turning the ball over just twice.

McCallum has hardly played as a rookie, and the No. 36 overall pick in this year's draft hasn't really done much to stand out. He is averaging 3.8 points and 1.3 assists per game in 34 appearances, while shooting just 35.8 percent from the field.

Ray McCallum plays season-high 25 minutes in blowout loss

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/26/2014) Kings guard Ray McCallum Jr. played a season-high 25 minutes in his team's 129-103 loss to the Rockets Tuesday, scoring six points on 2 of 8 shooting.

McCallum also recorded three rebounds and two assists while setting a high in playing time for the second straight game after his 17 minutes of action Sunday. He's played at least 10 minutes in four straight games but made just three of his 16 shots during that stretch. McCallum has averaged 1.6 points and 6.3 minutes over 20 games played.

Ray McCallum Jr. plays a bit in blowout

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(1/23/2014) Kings rookie guard Ray McCallum Jr. has seen a bit more playing time recently, thought he appeared in just his 10th game of the season Wednesday against the Rockets.

McCallum appeared in his second game in a row, but played just eight minutes in a 119-98 blowout loss. He scored two points on 1 of 3 shooting, though he did add four assists without a turnover in his garbage time.

McCallum's inconsistent playing time has clearly hurt his production as a rookie, as he is shooting just 4 of 13 on the season.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(1/21/2014) The Kings recalled guard Ray McCallum from the Reno Bighorns of the D-League Tuesday. In eight appearances with the Kings, McCallum has scored seven points on 3 of 9 shooting in 22 minutes of action.
