"People have to start talking about him for Rookie of the Year," coach Brett Brown said after the game, per the Associated Press. He continues to improve."

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

76ers C Nerlens Noel blocks nine shots in near triple-double

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/20/2015) 76ers center Nerlens Noel came close to an unconventional triple-double Friday, scoring 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting while grabbing nine rebounds and blocking a season-high nine shots in his team's 106-95 loss to the Pacers.

"How about Nerlens tonight?" coach Brett Brown said after the game, per the Associated Press. "He had nine blocked shots tonight and I thought he had 11. ... What he did needs to be acknowledged. His stat line was fantastic."

Report: 76ers' trade discussions 'picking up'

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/17/2015) The 76ers aren't likely to make as many deadline deals as they did in 2014, but trade discussions with other teams have been "picking up," The Intelligencer reports.

The most likely trade scenario has the 76ers absorbing salary in order to acquire second-round picks, but they could also deal small forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute or the expiring contracts of Jason Richardson or Andrei Kirilenko.

The team reportedly likes guard Nik Stauskas, who the Kings have shown a willingness to deal before the deadline. It's possible general manager Sam Hinkie could consider a deal swapping Nerlens Noel for Stauskas and a pick, per the report, as the No. 8 pick in 2014 would provide perimeter shooting and has one more year on his deal than Noel.

Michael Carter-Williams is another player who could be on the move if an interested team is willing to meet the 76ers' asking price, according to the report.

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com

Sixers view Nerlens Noel as a natural center

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/5/2015) 76ers coach Brett Brown said power forward Nerlens Noel's future is at center.

"He's gone from being a four man playing alongside Henry Sims to a five man, which is going to be a challenge for us when Joel [Embiid] gets healthy next year," Brown told NBA.com. "We'll deal with it. I think it's a good problem to have and it's not one that we're shying away from.

"We still do all of our deliberate practice work with Nerlens from 18 feet. We still work on his form. Nothing really changes. It's just with what we have right now, he's been slid over to a five spot. We're happy with his progress. I think it's just something that we'll figure out as time unfolds."

Noel has at least seven rebounds in seven straight games and at least two blocks in five of his last eight outings.
