Wizards assign Glen Rice Jr. to NBADL

(11/20/2014) The Wizards announced Thursday they assigned Glen Rice Jr. to Fort Wayne of the NBA Development League. Rice has appeared in five games for Washington, averaging 2.2 points and 8.5 minutes.

(11/6/2014) Sources have indicated the National Basketball Players Association is planning on appealing Knicks guard J.R. Smith’s suspension, according to ESPNNewYork.com.

The NBA suspended Smith without pay for hitting Wizards guard Glen Rice Jr. in the groin during Tuesday’s game. The players association will argue that the hit was unintentional. 

Smith has already served the suspension after sitting out Wednesday night’s game at Detroit.

(11/5/2014) Knicks guard J.R. Smith might not be available for Wednesday's game against the Pistons, if the NBA decides to bring disciplinary action against the veteran guard after he was involved in a fourth-quarter incident Tuesday with Wizards guard Glen Rice Jr., according to the New York Post.

Smith was caught on video appearing to hit Rice in the groin while Smith was dribbling the basketball. Rice crumbled to the floor, and he was assessed a blocking foul on the play.

A Wizards team source told the Post that he believes Smith's actions were intentional since the Knicks were trailing by double digits. Smith was not available for comment after the game.

(10/30/2014) Wizards guard Glen Rice Jr. made his season debut during Thursday night's win over the Magic in Orlando.

Returning from an ankle injury, Rice entered the game with 1:42 remaining in the first quarter and knocked down a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter for his only basket of the night. He finished the game with five points on 1 of 2 shooting from the field and 2 of 3 from the free throw line. He added one rebound in 14 minutes of game action in a 105-98 victory.

(10/30/2014) Wizards guard Glen Rice Jr. was active for Wednesday's regular-season opener but did not play in his team's 107-95 loss to the Heat.

Rice has been dealing with an ankle issue and was a gametime decision for Wednesday's game. His next chance to take the court will come Thursday against the Magic.

Rice suffered a sprained ankle Wednesday against Maccabi Haifa. Coach Randy Wittman has listed him as day to day moving forward, leaving his status uncertain for the regular season opener Oct. 29 against Miami.

Rice scored 11 points in 12 minutes of action before coming out of the game. He played just 11 games during his rookie season, averaging 2.9 points per game while shooting 29.7 percent from the field.

(1/28/2014) Wizards guard Glen Rice Jr. has been recalled from the D-League, the Washington Post reports. Rice played three D-League games while recovering from a broken wrist, averaging 24.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Rice underwent surgery to repair the injured wrist in mid-December. Despite his apparent health and his quality numbers in the D-League, he isn't a lock to be a major part of the Wizards' rotation moving forward. Rice has averaged just 2.9 points and just less than 10 minutes over 11 games played this season.


Glen Rice Jr. could return to practice next week

(1/16/2014) Wizards guard Glen Rice Jr. is getting closer to returning from a fractured right wrist, according to a CSNWashington.com report Thursday. Rice has been cleared to shoot and is nearing a return to full-contact practice, with a timeline indicating a possible return following Monday's game against the 76ers.

Rice had surgery to repair the fracture Dec. 18 and had a three-to-six week timetable for his return, meaning he is on track.
