Bulls forward Taj Gibson (ankle) no longer using walking boot

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(3/4/2015) Bulls forward Taj Gibson is no longer using a walking boot on his injured ankle, reports ESPNChicago.com.

While Gibson is making progress, he has not been cleared to conduct any basketball activity, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Gibson has missed the last two games after suffering a sprained ankle during last Friday's contest. Forward Tony Snell has seen his role increase with Gibson sidelined.

Tony Snell should see a boost

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/2/2015) Bulls wing Tony Snell had trouble cracking the rotation for the first season and a half of his career, which isn't all that surprising given how Tom Thibodeau views rookies. However, he has started to bloom a bit lately, and could be staring at a massive role in the next few weeks with Jimmy Butler sidelined with an elbow injury.

Snell has been on fire lately, shooting 57.0 percent from the field and averaging 13.5 points per game in 30.1 minutes over the last 10, and will likely see upwards of 35 minutes or more moving forward, given the mediocre options surrounding him at shooting guard and small forward. Snell has been very good with Butler off the floor, posting a 62.5 True Shooting percentage in 457 minutes with Butler on the floor.

However, as good as Snell has been this season, he hasn't been asked to do all that much. Even with Butler off the floor, Snell has just a 14.3 usage rate, while averaging 12.6 points per-36 minutes. He really doesn't do much else beyond shoot and score at this point, so Snell will have to increase his volume in Butler's absence to be much more than a low-end starting option.

Snell could end up playing close to 40 minutes per night in Butler's absence, so the volume might end up being there for him anyways. He is a safe bet to be productive for the Bulls and Fantasy owners alike, though there isn't much of an indication that he is a high-upside play.

Bulls' Jimmy Butler could miss 3-6 weeks with elbow sprain

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(3/2/2015) An MRI revealed Bulls guard Jimmy Butler suffered an elbow sprain and he could miss three-to-six weeks, the team announced Monday.

Butler injured his elbow during Sunday's game against the Clippers and he was not able to finish the contest, but he will not need surgery.

In 55 games, Butler is averaging 20.2 points and 5.9 rebounds. Frowards Tony Snell and Nikola Mirotic are expected to see their roles increase with Butler sidelined.

Butler will be evaluated on a weekly basis in the hopes of returning sooner, a source told the Chicago Tribune.

Bulls' Taj Gibson expected to miss one week with ankle injury

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(3/2/2015) Bulls forward Taj Gibson was using a walking boot after Sunday's loss to the Clippers and is expected to miss a week, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Gibson injured his ankle during Friday's contest and also missed Sunday's game. In 49 games, he is averaging 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds. Forward Tony Snell is expected to fill Gibson's role.

Bulls rule Taj Gibson out of Sunday's game; Pau Gasol to play

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(3/1/2015) Bulls forward Taj Gibson has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Clippers, reports ESPNChicago.com.

Gibson has been dealing with an ankle injury, which he injured during Friday's contest. Forward Tony Snell is expected to see his role increase with Gibson sidelined.

Bulls rule Kirk Hinrich, Taj Gibson out of Monday's game

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/23/2015) The Bulls ruled guard Kirk Hinrich and forward Taj Gibson out of Monday's game against the Bucks, reports the Chicago Tribune. Both players are dealing with an illness.

Guard Aaron Brooks will likely receive more playing time with Hinrich out, while forward Tony Snell could see his minutes increase in place of Gibson.

The Bulls are 7 1/2-point favorites.

Bulls SF Tony Snell stays hot with 22 points vs. Cavaliers

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/12/2015) Bulls small forward Tony Snell scored 22 points on 9 of 11 shooting, including 4 of 6 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 113-98 win over the Cavaliers Thursday.

Snell has been on fire recently, also going 9 for 11 from the field and 4 for 6 from downtown while scoring 24 points Tuesday and making seven of his 10 shots from the field and five of his six tries from three-point range Saturday. The Bulls picked up wins in all three games, as well as a win in a less-than-stellar shooting performance from Snell Sunday. He also had three steals, two rebounds and one assist in 38 minutes Thursday.

The Bulls head into the All-Star break in the midst of a four-game winning streak.

Bulls rule Jimmy Butler out of Thursday's game vs. Cavs

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(2/12/2015) Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said guard Jimmy Butler will not play in Thursday's game against the Cavaliers, reports ESPNChicago.com.

Butler sustained a right shoulder strain during the Tuesday's game against the Kings. He is considered day to day. Tony Snell will start in place of Butler.

Butler will travel to New York following Thursday's game to participate in All-Star Weekend. However, Thibodeau said he was not sure if Butler would play in Sunday's All-Star Game. He has already pulled out of Saturday's Skills Competition.

The Bulls are 1-point underdogs.

Bulls' Tony Snell pours in career-high 24 points in win Tuesday

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(2/11/2015) Bulls forward Tony Snell scored a career-high 24 points on 9 of 11 shooting from the field in Chicago's 104-86 win over the Kings Tuesday.

Snell, who came off the bench to play 41 minutes, also went 4 of 6 from 3-point range.

"I think he's taking good shots, good rhythm shots," coach Tom Thibodeau said."That's the big challenge: shoot when you should and pass when you should. I like that a lot. He had a great rhythm there and he had a tough matchup, too, when Jimmy went down. Rudy Gay is not an easy guy to guard. That puts enormous pressure on you and I thought he played well on both sides of the ball."

Despite playing on and off all season, Snell still feels prepared at all times to get in the game.

"I've been through it last year. It's nothing new," Snell said about playing time. "You never know when your name gets called. I've got to make sure I'm ready when my name gets called."

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

Dunleavy injured his foot during Thursday’s game against the Nuggets. X-rays on the foot were negative. Dunleavy has yet to miss a game this season. He is averaging 9.6 points and 3.8 rebounds. Forward Tony Snell could see an increase in minutes if Dunleavy is unable to play.

The Bulls are 11-point favorites.

Tony Snell scores season-high 20 points vs. Nuggets Friday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(2/4/2014) Bulls rookie guard Tony Snell continues to see inconsistent playing time, as he logged just nine minutes Tuesday against the Suns, one night after playing 30 minutes in a blowout loss.

Snell was limited to just nine minutes with the Bulls up for much of Tuesday's 101-92 win. He scored five points on 2 of 2 shooting, but added no other stats in the win.

Tony Snell pressed into duty due to injuries

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/20/2013) Bulls forward Tony Snell has seen his role decrease in recent games, but that is likely to change with Thursday's game against the Thunder. Jimmy Butler was forced to leave Thursday's game due to an ankle injury, leaving Snell to step up, with Luol Deng already sidelined by an Achilles injury.

Snell, who had played just 16 minutes in the team's previous three games, had to play 41 minutes Thursday once Butler went down. Snell scored 10 points, but shot just 4 of 15 from the field and 2 of 11 from three-point range. He did add eight rebounds, one block, one steal and one assists, in a 107-95 loss.

Snell has been forced to start nine games due to injury as a rookie, and is averaging 9.9 points in 32.9 minutes per game.
