Nate Wolters fitted with a cast, out for season

(3/22/2014) Bucks guard Nate Wolters will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a broken left hand Friday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Saturday. Wolters was fitted for a cast on his hand Saturday, and should have no problem being ready by the start of next season.

Wolters finished his rookie season averaging 7.2 points, 3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game in 58 appearances, while shooting 43.7 percent from the field. 


Bucks not ready to rule Nate Wolters out for season

(3/21/2014) Although he suffered a broken hand in Thursday's loss to the Warriors, the Bucks have not officially ruled guard Nate Wolters out for the season yet, the Journal Sentinel reports. He will sit out the next two road games and will be evaluated by team doctor Michael Gordon.

Wolters said he was injured earlier in the game and actually played several minutes with a broken hand before the throbbing pain forced him back to the locker room for an X-ray.

"I just got hit," Wolters said, per the paper. "Hopefully I can get back on the court as soon as possible. We'll just see what happens."

Wolters started in 31 games, appearing in 58 games. He averaged just 7.2 points, 3.4 assists and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor per contest. The Bucks have 13 games left this season, which gives Wolters a small timeframe for a return, depending on the severity of the fracture.

(3/12/2014) Bucks guard Nate Wolters put together a strong performance Tuesday, in a 112-101 loss to the Timberwolves.

Wolters scored in double figures for just the second time in five games, and he put up 14 points in 31 minutes, his best total since Feb. 18. He shot 5 of 6 from the field and made two 3-pointers, while adding three rebounds and three assists go go along with two turnovers.

Wolters struggled with his shot early in his rookie season, but has sorted out his issues recently. He shot 44.8 percent in the month of February and is already up to 54.9 percent while averaging 10.8 points per game in six March contests.

(2/24/2014) Bucks point guard Nate Wolters got the start on Monday, but failed to score in double figures, finishing with just six points on 3 of 5 from the floor while missing all two of his attempts from downtown in a 130-110 victory over Philadelphia.

Wolters played only 15 minutes of game action, also adding two assists, one rebound and one steal. He is averaging 9.4 points, 4.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds over his last five games.

(2/24/2014) Bucks head coach Larry Drew told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that guard Nate Wolters will play Monday night against Philadelphia.

Wolters played just five minutes in the second half of Saturday's game against the Pacers because of an ankle injury. He is averaging 6.9 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds over 44 games this season.

(2/23/2014) Bucks guard Nate Wolters played just five minutes in the second half of Saturday's game against the Pacers, and it wasn't until after the game that we found out why. The team announced Wolters suffered a sprained ankle in first half and couldn't play through it in the 110-100 loss.

Wolters was scoreless on two missed field goals in 19 minutes before leaving, and was held without an assists as well. He will likely be day to day moving forward, heading into the team's next game, Monday against the 76ers.

Wolters played 28 minutes in the game, and struggled to get much going in a 110-100 loss. He shot just 2 of 7 from the field on his way to four points, while adding just four assists and two rebounds, plus one block and steal each.

Wolters has been productive for a second-round pick, averaging 6.3 points, 3.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game in 38 appearances.

(2/5/2014) Bucks guard Nate Wolters is a gametime decision for Wednesday's game against the Nuggets due to illness, the team's play-by-play announcer reports.

Wolters has averaged just over 20 minutes in 37 appearances this season, scoring 6.2 points and dishing out 3.4 assists per game. He has hit 40.2 percent of his field-goal attempts but is just 3 for 29 from behind the arc as well as a 67.2-percent shooter from the free-throw line.

(12/11/2013) Bucks guard Nate Wolters scored a team-high 18 points on 7 of 15 shooting as the Milwaukee bench played prominent minutes in the team's 109-77 blowout loss to the Spurs Wednesday.

Wolters added seven assists, two steals, one rebound and one block in 30 minutes of action as five reserves saw more playing time than any starter in the loss. He has averaged 7.3 points and 4.3 assists in 18 games played.

(11/22/2013) With Luke Ridnour's return to health, Bucks guard Nate Wolters has found himself back on the bench over the last two games. He played just 18 minutes off the bench Friday, in a 115-107 overtime loss to the 76ers.

Wolters was still productive Friday, scoring seven points on 3 of 5 shooting in his 18 minutes. He added four assists and two turnovers.

Wolters had been starting with Ridnour and Brandon Knight out, but his role is likely to continue shrinking with Ridnour back and Knight expected to return soon. Wolters has played 18 minutes in each of his first two games off the bench, averaging 6.5 points and 4.0 assists in those two games.

(11/6/2013) With Brandon Knight and Luke Ridnour still missing time, Bucks rookie point guard Nate Wolters is putting on quite a show.

Wolters helped lead the Bucks to a win over Cleveland Wednesday as he scored nine points and dished out six assists with eight rebounds over 33 minutes.

Wolters has 26 assists through four games, one more than T.J. Ford had for Milwaukee to start the 2003-04 season as a rookie.

Wolters logged 36 minutes of game action and went 3 of 8 shooting from the field, including 0 of 3 from downtown, and 1 of 2 from the free throw line. He finished the game with seven points, 10 assists and four rebounds in a 97-90 defeat.

Injuries force Bucks' reserves into action

(10/30/2013) With Brandon Knight going down in the early minutes of Wednesday's seas opener against the Knicks with a hamstring injury, the Bucks were forced to turn to their backup plans at point guard. Rookie Nate Wolters played 30 minutes, while Gary Neal logged 32 as a reserve.

Wolters, the 38th pick in this year's draft, struggled in his first action. He scored nine points on 3 of 12 shooting, including one 3-pointer. He aded four assists, one steal and one block, while turning the ball over twice.

Neal scored a bit more, but similarly struggled with his shot, pouring in 16 points on 6 of 16 shooting, with two 3-pointers. He adde five assists, and did not turn the ball over in a 90-83 loss.

With Knight and Luke Ridnour (back) dealing with injuries, this duo might need to continue carrying the load for the Bucks out of the backcourt.


Nate Wolters earns guaranteed deal

(8/28/2013) The Bucks finalized a deal with rookie guard Nate Wolters early in August that will guarantee him a contract for the upcoming season. Wolters, the No. 38 pick in this year's draft out of South Dakota State, will be paid $500,000 for his rookie season, with the first two years guaranteed.

Wolters averaged 22.3 points per game as a senior, ranking fourth in the NCAA in scoring among Division I players.
