Hawks' Teague, Carroll, Antic return to practice Monday

(3/2/2015) After sitting out Saturday's contest due to a variety of ailments, Hawks guard Jeff Teague (hamstring), forward DeMarre Carroll (shoulder) and forward Pero Antic (knee) were all able to practice Monday, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Coach Mike Budenholzer said all three players would be available to play in Tuesday's game against the Rockets.


Hawks' Pero Antic hurts knee in collision

(3/1/2015) The Hawks originally said that PF Pero Antic sat out Saturday's game at the Heat to rest. However, the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Chris Vivlamore said Antic's knee was bothering him after a collision during Friday's game. 

The team hasn't updated Antic's status for the next game, against Houston on Tuesday.

(2/28/2015) The Hawks announced that PF Pero Antic won't play against the Heat on Saturday night. The move isn't injury related. Antic is getting rested.

The game is the second game of a back-to-back and the third game in four nights for the Hawks, so the team is giving several key players the night off. 

Antic is averaging 5.5 points and 3.0 rebounds this season. The Hawks are five-point favorites on the road.

Antic missed the last two games while dealing with an ankle injury, but he'll be back on the active roster Saturday. He has averaged 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds in 22 rebounds.

John Jenkins and Adreian Payne will be inactive for Atlanta. Antic had been dealing with an ankle injury and played limited minutes the last three games for the Hawks.

Antic, who missed the season opener against Toronto, logged 20 minutes in his first regular season game since suffering a broken nose in training camp. He finished with seven points on 2 of 4 shooting from the field, including 1 of 3 from downtown, and 2 of 3 from the free throw line. He chipped in with two assists and one rebound in a 102-92 victory.

He took an elbow to the face during practice the previous day and as a result, he'll miss the first preseason game on Monday. He will be fitted for a protective mask and will be held out of contact for the next few days. The injury shouldn't impact his status for the season opener.

Antic was able to play in Friday's game against the Nets, but the quick turnaround was obviously too much for him to play. He has sat out the second half of both of the team's last two back-to-back sets this week. He will likely remain day to day moving forward, with the team's second-to-last game set for Monday against the Bobcats.

He missed the team's previous game with ankle soreness, and was eased back into action off the bench. He scored four points on 2 of 6 shooting while adding just one rebound in a 93-88 win.

Antic has been dogged by ankle injuries for much of the season, but has still had a solid rookie season at the age of 31. He is averaging 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game in 48 appearances.
