Timberwolves SF Andrew Wiggins scores season-high 29 vs. Kings

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/22/2014) Timberwolves small forward Andrew Wiggins scored a season-high 29 points on 9 of 22 shooting, including 2 of 4 shooting from three-point range, in his team's 113-101 loss to the Kings Saturday.

The No. 1 overall pick played a season-high 41 minutes in the loss while shouldering more of the scoring mantle with Kevin Martin sidelined. It's the first time he took more than 14 shots in a game as well as the first time he took more than six free throws, going 9 for 10 from the charity stripe. He also racked up five rebounds, four steals, two assists and one block Saturday. He'll look to keep rolling Wednesday against the Bucks.

Timberwolves' Andrew Wiggins scores eight in home debut

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/31/2014) Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins made his home debut Thursday night, as he contributed with eight points in his team's 97-91 victory over the Pistons.

The No. 1 overall pick, who was traded from Cleveland to Minnesota in exchange for Kevin Love, bounced back from a rough first half and erupted for all eight of his points and grabbed three rebounds to give his team a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter.

He shot 4 of 9 from the field and missed all three of his attempts from the charity stripe. He added four rebounds, one assist and one steal while logging 24 minutes of game action.

"He had a stretch where he showed what the future is a little bit with his ability to go and take over games," coach Flip Saunders said, via the team's official website. "I was hesitant to put him back in with six minutes to go. We went with our veterans and I think if we would have lost I would have been kicking myself wondering why I didn't put him back in."

Timberwolves' Andrew Wiggins to sit Friday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/24/2014) Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins will sit Friday against the Bulls, according to the Star Tribune.

Wiggins is still dealing with a lower back injury. The injury is considered minor, and Wiggins should be available for the start of the regular season.

Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins to sit again

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/22/2014) Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins will not play Wednesday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Wiggins is dealing with a back injury, though it's considered minor. He was expected to miss Wednesday's game, so the news should not come as a surprise.

Timberwolves' Andrew Wiggins out Tuesday, likely out Wednesday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/22/2014) Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins didn't play Tuesday and will likely miss Wednesday's game as well after taking a hard fall Sunday, the Star Tribune reports. The issue appears to be minor in nature, and the rookie is day-to-day moving forward.

Saunders impressed so far with promising Andrew Wiggins

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/9/2014) Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders has been impressed with the preseason performance of rookie forward Andrew Wiggins. He revealed his feelings when talking about Wiggins' performance Tuesday night against Indiana.

"He's more than just an athlete," Saunders told the team website. "He's pretty skilled. He can hit a shot when he wants and make a couple threes, he went to the basket, got to the free throw line a lot, so the more he plays, the more he plays with veteran guys."

Wiggins racked up 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and three blocks in the defeat to the Pacers. He also went 8-for-10 from the foul line.

Timberwolves not ready to name Andrew Wiggins the starter

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/4/2014) Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders has not indicated if guard Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, will be the starter come Oct. 29 when the team opens the regular season at Memphis. According to the team's play-by-play radio announcer, Saunders is more concerned about who finishes the games, rather than who is starting.

Wiggins is competing with Corey Brewer for the starting job. Brewer already admitted he's comfortable with coming off the bench

"I don't mind coming off the bench. Let's be honest, we got the No. 1 pick. I just want to win," Brewer said.

Kevin Love deal morphs into three-team trade

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/22/2014) The Cavaliers' acquisition of Kevin Love is set to go down Saturday, and Yahoo.com reports it will end up being a three-team deal.

The Timberwolves will receive Andrew Wiggins , Anthony Bennett and a lottery-protected first-round pick from the Cavaliers in exchange for Love, and are set to move one of those pieces to Philadelphia to complete the deal.

The Wolves will move the first-round pick -- a top-10 protected pick from Miami -- to the 76ers along with Alexey Shved and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute in exchange for Thaddeus Young, as first reported by the Minnesota Star-Tribune.

Landing in Minnesota should improve Andrew Wiggins' value

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/7/2014) The prize of the trade that ultimately sent Kevin Love to Cleveland will likely be the Timberwolves' acquisition of No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins , assuming there are no unexpected changes in the deal the two sides agreed to.

If Wiggins does ultimately land in Minnesota, as expected, this should be a boon to his Fantasy value. Though Wiggins will have substantially less help as he makes the transition to the NBA than he would have in Cleveland, he is also likely to be much more of a featured option than he otherwise might have been.

Wiggins was likely going to be the third or possibly even fourth offensive option for the Cavs, and likely would have been so for some time, given the presence of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving on long-term deals. Now, the Timberwolves get to build around Wiggins as their long-term centerpiece, and he should be given plenty of rope as the team tries to navigate their upcoming rebuild.

Wiggins is raw, but still put up 17.1 points and 5.9 rebounds in 32.8 minutes per game as a freshman at the University of Kansas. There are some questions about how well his game will translate to the NBA, but he will at least have some help, in the form of point guard Ricky Rubio, who knows exactly how to set up teammates for shots they like.

Wiggins is mostly upside right now, but should be considered a second-round pick in all keeper-league Fantasy formats. In yearly re-draft leagues, he is more of a mid-round option at this point, albeit one with tremendous upside.

Report: Cavs, Wolves finalize Kevin Love deal

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/7/2014) The long-awaited deal to send Kevin Love to the Cavaliers has been agreed to, according to a Yahoo.com report Thursday.

Though the deal cannot be officially finalized until Aug. 23, the Timberwolves are expected to acquire the last two No. 1 overall picks in the deal, in the form of forwards Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins. They will also reportedly receive a 2015 first-round pick in the deal.

The report also indicates the Cavaliers have received a commitment from Love that he will opt out of his current contract next offseason and re-sign a five-year max contract worth $120 million.

Cavs sign Andrew Wiggins, can't trade him for 30 days

by Joe Polito | CBSSports.com
(7/24/2014) Amid constant speculation about the Cavaliers possibly sending their No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins to Minnesota in a deal for Kevin Love, Cleveland will have to wait at least 30 days to do so. The team announced Thursday that it had inked Wiggins to a rookie deal that starts at a $5.5 million annual salary.

Wiggins looked good in Summer League, averaging 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in four games at Las Vegas.
