News: 76ers center Kwame Brown saw his first playing time since Jan. 15 on Monday night against the Grizzlies. He scored three points in 11 minutes off the bench. He made his lone attempt from the field and went 1 for 2 from the charity stripe. Brown also posted two rebounds and a block in the 103-100 loss.
Analysis: Brown played in just his 20th game this season on Monday and has been a minimal producer in Fantasy. Continue to ignore the 30-year-old in the majority of formats.
News: 76ers center Kwame Brown was a healthy scratch during Tuesday's contest against the Bucks. Brown, who had missed Philadelphia's last two games due to a sinus infection, was active but earned a DNP-coach's decision in the 110-102 defeat.
Analysis: Brown has been a major bust during his first year in Philadelphia and has played so poorly that coach Doug Collins has taken him out of the rotation, despite not having a true healthy big man on the roster. Fantasy owners should continue to ignore Brown in all formats.
News: Philadelphia center Kwame Brown was out yet again Monday against the Spurs, due to a sinus infection. He remains day to day.
Analysis: We do not expect this issue to line long for Brown, but there is little reason to think he will return to a big role even when healthy. He has appeared in fewer than half of the 76ers games this season, and can be ignore in most Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia center Kwame Brown was ruled out of Friday night's contest against Toronto due to a sinus infection, according to the team's official website. Brown is being considered as day to day.
Analysis: Brown had been away from the Sixers until for a three-game stretch in January until he made his return Tuesday against the Hornets. In that game he was held scoreless and came up with just two rebounds. Brown shouldn't be out for long and is only averaging 2.0 points and 3.4 rebounds per game this season. Continue to ignore him in all Fantasy formats, even when healthy.
News: After being held out in his last three games, Philadelphia center Kwame Brown returned to the court but was a non-factor during Tuesday's contest against the Hornets. Brown picked up two rebounds but was held scoreless while logging seven minutes of game action in a 111-99 defeat.
Analysis: Brown entered the game in the fourth quarter when the game was well out of hand but was still unable to put up points on the board in garbage time. At this point, the former No. 1 overall pick is stuck in the back end of the rotation and is a marginal contributor. He is averaging roughly two points and three rebounds per game and should be ignored in all formats moving forward.
News: Philadelphia center Kwame Brown continues to be away from the team due to a death in the family. Brown could not play Wednesday at Toronto.
Analysis: Brown is away from the team due to personal reasons and it is not yet clear exactly when he'll return, though it should be in the coming days. When back, he is stuck behind Lavoy Allen for the Sixers. He has low-end Fantasy value.
News: 76ers head coach Doug Collins told reporters that center Kwame Brown will not be with the team during Tuesday's game against Brooklyn due to a death in his family.
Analysis: Brown is averaging just 2.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game this season. Though we expect him to return to the team soon, Brown has only in three out of the last six games and is not a consistent Fantasy contributor. He is not worth owning in in any Fantasy formats at this time.
News: Philadelphia center Kwame Brown was called a "situational starter," by coach Doug Collins, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer Wednesday. That means Brown will start when the Sixers need his size in the lineup.
Analysis: Brown is averaging 2.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game this season and that makes Fantasy owners shy away from him in all formats.
News: 76ers center Kwame Brown was not playing with the first team for the first time Saturday, as he was forced to come off the bench behind Lavoy Allen. Brown scored just two points in 8 minutes in the game, as the Sixers lost, 116-109, in overtime. He had started the first six games of his season before hitting the bench.
Analysis: Losing the starting job should not have much of an impact on Browns Fantasy value, if only because things probably cannot get much worse. He is averaging just 2.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in 13.0 minutes per game, and at this point is not worth owning in any Fantasy formats.
News: After missing the past four games with a strained left calf, Kwame Brown was listed as the starting center for the 76ers on Wednesday night against the Pistons. He scored three points with one rebound and a steal while playing 12 minutes in the 94-76 loss.
Analysis: Brown scored four points with three rebounds in his first game this season and continues to have minimal value in Fantasy. Even though he is over his calf issue, continue to ignore the 30-year-old in all formats.
News: 76ers coach Doug Collins said Tuesday he is hoping center Kwame Brown (calf) will be able to return to the lineup for Wednesday's game against Detroit. Brown has missed the past four games with a strained left calf -- the same issue that kept him out the first two games of the season. "Im hoping that Kwame will be able to give us some minutes, Collins told the Philadelphia Inquirer after practice.
Analysis: Brown's presence would be a tremendous lift for the 76ers in the middle of the paint as Andrew Bynum is not expected to return to the lineup until the middle of August. But Brown isn't a reliable offensive threat and will just serve as a cog on defense. He has posted at least 6.4 rebounds per game the past two seasons and could help in that department in category-based Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Philadelphia coach Doug Collins said Tuesday that center Kwame Brown will be sidelined "a while" as he deals with a strained left calf, the Bucks County Courier Times reports. Brown re-aggravated a previous calf injury while making his season debut as a starter Monday night against New York and left the game in the third quarter. He managed just four points and three rebounds in 11 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Brown was filling in for 76ers center Andrew Bynum, who has yet to play in a game this year, but will now take a seat on the bench next to him. Brown, who is in his 11th NBA season, appeared sluggish on the court Monday as he attempted just three shots from the field. The 30-year-old wasn't expected to generate strong numbers this season in a reserve role and should be left on waivers in all Fantasy formats while hobbled.
News: Philadelphia center Kwame Brown, who made his season debut as a starter Monday against the Knicks, re-injured his left calf and had to leave the game in the third quarter, reports the team's official site. Brown played 11 minutes and was 2 of 3 from the field for four points with three rebounds.
Analysis: Brown was inactive for the Sixers until making his debut Monday and he lasted just 11 minutes before re-injuring his calf. He only missed one of his three hots and grabbed three rebounds but looked fat and sluggish on the court. Injured again, Brown has low-end Fantasy appeal and should only be stashed in the deepest of formats.
News: The Sixers finally got a healthy Kwame Brown for Monday's game against the Knicks. Brown, who had been unavailable due to a calf injury prior to Monday's game, got the start for Philadelphia against the Knicks with New York dealing with plenty of injury issues to the team's big men.
Analysis: Brown was needed against the trees on the New York roster as Philadelphia wanted to get a bit more physical. That said, until Brown really shows us something, owners can feel free in avoiding him in all but the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: Philadelphia center Kwame Brown has been labeled "ready to play" by coach Doug Collins for Sunday's game against the Knicks, reports the Delaware County Daily Times Saturday.
Analysis: Brown has been unavailable to this point but the Sixers will need him against the Knicks. Still, he has very limited Fantasy value.
News: 76ers center Kwame Brown was held out of Wednesday's season opener against the Nuggets as he continues to deal with a calf injury. Brown, who has been held out since Oct. 14, is listed as day to day.
Analysis: Brown has been plagued with injuries for a good portion of his career, which is not a good sign for the 30-year-old early into his tenure with the Sixers. He was held to just nine games last year because of injury and has averaged 7.7 points with 6.8 rebounds in his last 75 games in the league. He'll certainly provide some depth for Philadelphia down low but is not considered as a worthwhile option, even when healthy.
News: 76ers center Kwame Brown was unable to play in Monday's preseason game against the Knicks as he continued to deal with a calf injury. He has been sidelined since Oct. 14 due to the issue.
Analysis: Brown was limited to just nine games last season due a shoulder injury and is averaging 7.7 points with 6.8 rebounds in his last 75 games in the NBA. He provides the 76ers with some depth at center but since he has never been a reliable option in Fantasy, continue to ignore the 30-year-old in all formats, healthy or not.
News: ESPN.com reported Friday that the Sixers agreed to a two-year deal with free-agent center Kwame Brown. The deal is reportedly worth $6 million, with the second year being a player option.
Analysis: Brown missed most of last season with a shoulder injury, and is now likely looking at a backup job with the Sixers. He has averaged double-figures in scoring exactly once in his career, back in 2003-04 with the Wizards, so dont plan on targeting him in most Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
News: The Milwaukee Bucks and Golden State Warriors have agreed upon a trade on Tuesday that sends center Andrew Bogut and forward Stephen Jackson to the Warriors for Monta Ellis, Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Brown has an expiring contract and is likely out for the season anyway with a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Brown sounds like a throw in for the Bucks as he's not likely to play again this season and his contract expires at the end of it. Brown played nine games for the Warriors and now heads to the Bucks. It is his seventh NBA stop in what started as the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft by the Wizards before the 2001-02 season. Brown has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: Warriors backup center Kwame Brown had surgery on his chest muscle on Wednesday and is recovering. Brown will likely be sidelined for the rest of the season. Brown will remain in Southern California doing rehab before returning to the Bay Area next week. The Warriors say the injury will sideline Brown at least three months.
Analysis: Brown was injured in a victory over the Miami Heat on Jan. 10. In nine games this season, Brown averaged 6.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in 20.8 minutes. He was giving some quality minutes and giving the Warriors a defensive presence. Brown should not be owned at this stage of the season as his chances to return are slim.
News: Warriors C Kwame Brown will miss at least three months after an MRI on his shoulder revealed a torn pectoralis major that will require surgery. The operation will take place within the next few days. Obviously, were very disappointed, especially for Kwame, who was playing extremely well and had worked diligently since his arrival, Warriors GM Larry Riley said. In a short time, he had proven to be the anchor to our low post defense and certainly lived up to his reputation as one of the top interior defenders in the NBA. He had provided us a big, physical presence in the middle, which is something that weve lacked in the past. Unfortunately, surgery of this nature typically requires, approximately, a three-month recovery period.
Analysis: Brown was injured in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's game against the Heat. He is averaging 6.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. However, he averaged 9.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in three games since moving into the starting lineup, so this injury comes with bad timing. I feel extremely bad for Kwame, coach Mark Jackson said. He had done absolutely everything that myself and our coaching staff had asked of him and quickly started to change this teams image on the defensive end of the floor. If you look at the last week, in particular, he had some pretty impressive defensive performances, especially against some of the top scoring big men in the NBA. This is a blow, but Kwame and the Warriors will recover and move forward. I know that he will work as hard as he can during rehabilitation. Brown had low-end Fantasy appeal to begin with, so drop him in Fantasy if you need the roster spot.
News: CSN Bay Area reports Warriors C Kwame Brown, who injured his shoulder Tuesday, did not practice Wednesday and was headed for an MRI. He is questionable for Thursday's game against the Magic.
Analysis: Brown was having a pretty strong game Tuesday before getting injured. However, he is still averaging just 6.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, so that's not going to cut it in most Fantasy formats. Brown is a low-end Fantasy option when active.
News: Warriors C Kwame Brown left Tuesday night's contest against the Heat with a shoulder injury. Brown appeared to sustain the injury in the fourth quarter and was taken back to the locker room for observation. He finished with eight points and six rebounds in 21 minutes prior to leaving the contest.
Analysis: Brown seemed to be in a great deal of pain as he left the court, but there has still been no official announcement from the Warriors on the severity of his injury. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status moving forward to see when he will be able to get back on the court. However, Brown has been a merely a minimal contributor for Golden State thus far, so consider him a low-end option, when healthy.
News: Warriors C Kwame Brown got the start on Friday against the Lakers and had a productive performance. He scored a season-high 13 points and hauled in six rebounds in the 97-90 loss. He went 6 for 13 from the field and made 1 of 4 free throws while playing 34 minutes. Brown also chipped in with two assists and a steal in the defeat.
Analysis: Brown has been seeing some increased playing time with Andris Biedrins struggling and had his best scoring performance on Friday. He has been decent at rebounding and steals thus far but his scoring remains inconsistent. Keep an eye on the situation in Golden State going forward to see if he can continue to see some solid minutes. If he does, Brown might be a worthwhile add in larger Fantasy formats, especially at a thin position in Fantasy.
News: Golden State C Kwame Brown recorded seven rebounds but just two points during the Warriors' 107-79 loss to Philadelphia on Saturday night. Brown made his lone field-goal attempt as he logged 15 minutes of playing time. He has now totaled 23 rebounds in his past three games.
Analysis: Brown's minutes have been sporadic during the beginning of the season as his playing time seems to be tied to the production of starting C Andris Biedrins. The two could battle for playing time, but neither is a reliable scoring option. However, Brown has been stellar on the boards recently and could come close to duplicating his average of 6.8 rpg from last season. Consider him a decent option in category-based Fantasy formats for now.
News: Veteran C Kwame Brown signed a one-year deal with Golden State on Monday, according to CBSSports.com NBA Insider Ken Berger. The deal is reportedly worth $7 million. The Warriors had signed C DeAndre Jordan to an offer sheet last week, but the Clippers matched the offer on Monday and will keep the younger center for a hefty price. Golden State has been shopping for a center this offseason to improve its defensive front.
Analysis: Brown is notorious for being a bust with Washington after he was selected as the first overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. But he had a quality season in Charlotte last season and posted 7.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game with the Bobcats. He also stayed relatively healthy and appeared in 66 games, his highest total since the 2005-06 season with the Lakers (72). He could start with the Warriors and should be viewed as a decent late-round option in 2011-12 Fantasy drafts.
News: Veteran free-agent C Kwame Brown is strongly considering joining Miami for the upcoming season, according to Yahoo Sports. Brown finished with 7.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while playing 66 games with Charlotte last season. The Bobcats have shown interest in bringing him back for a second year with the club.
Analysis: It's unclear if the Heat shares the same sentiments with adding Brown, but the team is certainly starved for a big man in the middle. The 6-foot-11 Brown has been a major disappointment since he was selected first overall in the 2001 NBA Draft and has posted career averages of 6.8 points and 5.6 rebounds an outing. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status, but he represents a low-end option in most 2011-12 drafts.
News: Bobcats coach Paul Silas remains hopeful that center Kwame Brown, an impending free-agent, will stay in Charlotte. "Kwame is going to be unbelievable this year because we're going to have a chance to work on some of his deficiencies," Silas said. "When he comes back people are going to marvel at him at the way he's going to be playing."
Analysis: The Bobcats would love to have Brown back next year as they don't have a center under contract. Charlotte owner Michael Jordan drafted Brown 10 years ago in Washington, but he's never performed like a No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. Granted not all selections are jackpots, but now Jordan is finally getting something out of Brown. "I know I put a lot of pressure on M.J. by coming here. I know it had to be a tough call for him to do that again," Brown said. "I appreciated him and the opportunity." Fantasy owners should monitor Brown's status during the offseason to see where he signs. The Bobcats would be a good place for him to produce solid numbers, which is what Fantasy owners would love. Consider grabbing Brown in the later rounds on Draft Day as a No. 2 center option.
News: Charlotte coach Paul Silas helped turn around center Kwame Brown's career around. Silas wasn't running the show at the beginning of the 2010-11 season, which him struggle for the first two months of the season. He didn't contribute much during the months of November and December, but would turn things around after the All-Star break. In his last 25 games of the year, Brown averaged 9.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. Silas can be credited with getting Brown to believe in himself as an offensive presence. Brown is a free agent this offseason, but Silas would love to have him back next year. He told The Charlotte Observer that Brown has untapped potential at both ends of the court. "Now they double-team me in the post," Brown said, sounding mildly surprised at that sign of respect. "They realize I can score in the post with anybody else. "I think Paul understands me and my temperament. I know what he wants from me. The game slowed down and it was fun."
Analysis: The Bobcats would love to have Brown back next year as they don't have a center under contract. Charlotte owner Michael Jordan drafted Brown 10 years ago, but he's never performed like a No. Consider grabbing Brown in the later rounds on Draft Day this fall as a No. 2 center option.
News: Though the team is out of the playoff race, Bobcats center Kwame Brown continues to play hard with only a handful of games remaining on the schedule. It showed in Friday's loss to the Heat, when Brown was physical on both ends of the floor for the short-handed Bobcats, dealing with several injuries. He helped pick up the slack, scoring a season-high 23 points on 10 of 15 shooting including 3 of 4 from the free throw line. Brown had one of his best efforts of the year on the glass as well, pulling down 13 rebounds on the night. He added an assist, two steals and a block in 41 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Brown was Charlotte's driving force all night long, and he nearly led them back from a 14-point fourth quarter deficit. We just ran out of energy," Brown said. "They had all of their guys." He even tried to get to one of Miami's guys the wrong way, leveling Dwyane Wade with a flagrant-1 foul on a dunk try with 5:35 left in the third. Still, he had one of his best individual efforts of the season on the way to his eighth double-double in the campaign. Fantasy owners should roll with the former No. 1 overall pick as a low-end option the rest of the way. There's not many healthy big bodies in Charlotte, so Brown figures to play well by default down the stretch.
News: After missing Monday's game to tend to his ill daughter, Bobcats center Kwame Brown was back in the starting lineup on Wednesday. Brown played 36 minutes in Charlotte's 98-97 win over Cleveland. He shot 7 for 9 from the field and went 2 for 5 at the charity stripe, finishing with 16 points. He added eight boards, three assists, two blocks and a steal for the Bobcats.
Analysis: Brown has had a good year for the Bobcats and has been playing well to end the season. Over his last four games he's averaging 13.8 points, 1.3 blocks and 7.8 rebounds per outing. While he's playing like this, Fantasy owners view him as a low-end No. 2 center option.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown is back with the team Wednesday and will be available for Wednesday's game against the Cavs. Brown left the team to tend to his ill daughter in Georgia. He was unavailable for Monday's game against the Bucks.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in daily leagues should plan on Brown playing Wednesday against the Cavaliers. He should be considered a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center in all scoring formats.
News: The Bobcats report that center Kwame Brown is on his way back to Charlotte on Tuesday and is expected to go for Wednesday's game against Cleveland. Brown left the team to tend to his ill daughter in Georgia. He was unavailable for Monday's game against the Bucks.
Analysis: It appears safe for Fantasy owners to count on Brown for Wednesday's game against the Cavs. Consider Brown a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center in the majority of leagues.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown has left the team to tend to his ill daughter in Georgia. He was unavailable for Monday's game against the Bucks. There has been no word on when Brown plans on returning to the team.
Analysis: Brown has been playing average basketball in March, but he's still averaging 7.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per night. He has picked it up over the last three games, scoring no fewer than 11 points each night with at least seven rebounds per game. However, with a personal matter involving family there is never certainty on the player's mentality once he returns. Keep an eye on the situation in hopes that Brown returns sooner than later. We consider him to be a low-end option when healthy.
News: Just as the Bobcats have lost a season-high five straight game, center Kwame Brown has seen a drop-off in production. In the span, he averages 5.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. That includes Monday's pedestrian effort against the Clippers, when Brown scored seven points on 3 of 6 shooting. He pulled just three rebounds on the night, his second-lowest total of the season. The former No. 1 overall pick added an assist in 27 minutes of playing time.
Analysis: Brown has some more room underneath with the departure of Gerald Wallace, though he has had less production since the trade just before the deadline. Brown has not gotten the job done at either end of the floor, he hasn't even managed a single block in the last five contests. He's cooled off considerably since January, when he averaged nearly nine points and nine rebounds per game -- almost double of what he's providing now. Fantasy owners should expect the sub-par numbers to continue on a team in transition. Utilize him in deeper formats as a low-end option.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown was the only big man active for Charlotte on Friday night against the Kings. He logged a team-high 45 minutes as he had to deal with all the big bodies of Sacramento. Brown got a technical after staring down his opponent after putting down a missed layup he took in the first half. The veteran would shoot 4 for 13 from the floor and go 4 for 10 at the charity stripe, finishing with 12 points. Brown also grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds, giving him his sixth double-double of the season. The Bobcats would go on to win the game, 110-98, handing the Kings yet another loss.
Analysis: Charlotte had just eight active players after making some trades on Thursday. Brown will remain the starting center for the team, but he'll get some new guys to play with in the frontcourt. Over his last 10 games Brown is averaging 6.9 points and 7.1 rebounds. While he isn't one of the higher end centers, Fantasy owners in deeper formats can still find value in the one-time No. 1 pick. Consider Brown a low-end center in deeper category-based formats.
News: Charlotte center Kwame Brown has managed to stay in the league for nine years, but has never developed into a star player. He was drafted No. 1 overall back in 2001 by the Wizards and is now with his fifth team in the league. He's only averaged double digits in scoring once in his career and has never reached that plateau in terms of his rebounding production. Despite his mediocrity, Brown has still been valuable to the Bobcats this season. Charlotte lacks size and has had some injuries on the frontcourt this year. Brown gives them depth and a big body to bang down low against some of the East's big men. His numbers are down a bit in February after coming off a pretty solid month of January. He started 2011 averaging 8.9 points and 8.8 boards per outing in his 16 games.
Analysis: Brown entered the All-Star break averaging 6.8 points and 7.5 rebounds over eight February games. While those numbers are great, Brown still holds some Fantasy value. He ranks in the top 50 of centers in terms of points in standard CBSSports.com leagues. It doesn't give Fantasy owners much to go on, but in deeper category-based formats Brown is worth owning. Continue viewing him as a low-end center option in the second half of the season.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown was back with the team Friday morning at shootaround, and he will play Friday night against New Jersey after missing Wednesday's game against Indiana due to a death in the family.
Analysis: Brown continues to play well and remains a solid No. 2 Fantasy center since Paul Silas took over as head coach. Brown averaged 8.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in January and should remain around those stats as long as he continues to get consistent playing time.
News: The Bobcats announced Thursday that C Kwame Brown was back in Charlotte on Thursday after missing one game due to a death in the family.
Analysis: Brown averaged 8.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in January and has been playing well as of late. The Bobcats aren't deep on the frontcourt as it falls off after Brown. When he's performing like this, Brown should be viewed as a No. 2 center option in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Charlotte center Kwame Brown missed Wednesday's game against Indiana due to a death in the family. He didn't practice with the team on Tuesday and should be ready for Friday's contest versus the Nets. Nazr Mohammed will get the start in Brown's place.
News: Bobcats C Kwame Brown missed practice Tuesday for personal reasons but should be able to play Wednesday at Indiana.
Analysis: After a slow start to the season, Brown started to pick up the pace when the calendar turned to 2011, averaging 8.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in January. The big man is playing like a No. 2 center right now, so use him as such in deeper leagues.
News: Charlotte center Kwame Brown posted his fifth double-double of the season on Wednesday in Detroit. All of his double-doubles have come in 2011, the first back on Jan. 15. His latest installment saw him score 14 points and grab 10 boards in 30 minutes of action. The Bobcats would go on to win the game, 97-87, over the Pistons. Brown shot 6 for 9 from the field and connected on 2 of his 4 foul shots. "I didn't get to play much here - four or five minutes here and there, and that's hard for anyone," Brown said of his former team. "Here, I've been blessed with a situation to play some positive minutes. This league is about opportunities, and what you make of them." The big man would block one shot and dish out one assist.
Analysis: Brown is having a nice year in Charlotte and seems to have bought into interim coach Paul Silas' philosophy. Over his last five games Brown is tallying 10.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest. It seems he's finally figuring out the NBA after 10 years in the league. With him performing well, Fantasy owners should view Brown as a low-end center option in deeper formats.
News: Charlotte center Kwame Brown fell one rebound shy of tying his career high on Tuesday night in Sacramento. Brown scored 13 points and grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds in the Bobcats 94-89 win over the Kings. Brown was selected No. 1 overall almost 10 years ago by Michael Jordan and now is finally contributing in the NBA. "He's getting better, I tell you," Bobcats interim coach Paul Silas said Monday. "He's shooting that little jump shot. He can make layups now. Free-throw shooting, he's getting a lot better. His defense and his rebounding are always going to be there, but those other parts of the game that weren't, he's really producing now." He would grab a franchise best 11 rebounds in the third quarter, tying him with Emeka Okafor. Brown shot 3 for 8 from the field and converted 7 of his 10 foul shots. He added a block, a steal and two assists in his 35 minutes of action. Brown credits his improvement to a new coach on the staff. "The addition of Charles Oakley coming in and working with me every day...It's been helping a lot," Brown said via the team's official website.
Analysis: Brown has been playing better lately for the Bobcats, as he's averaging 9.4 points and 10.0 rebounds over his last five games. Anytime a player produces close to a double-double per contest, he's worth using in Fantasy formats. While it's shocking that Brown found a way to stay in the league for 10 years is a feat in itself. He doesn't dwell on the past and is focusing on this season with the Bobcats. With Brown playing well right now he's worth using in deeper formats. But is has to be difficult for Fantasy owners to have much faith in Brown as he's had a very disappointing NBA career. Start him at your own risk as no one knows how long he'll actually produce decent numbers.
News: Charlotte C Kwame Brown is finally doing for Michael Jordan what he could not do as the No. 1 overall draft pick for the Wizards -- with Jordan as the boss of Washington -- almost 10 years ago. Brown is finally contributing. The 6-foot-11 Brown is averaging 5.9 points and 6.6 rebounds. But he's had games of 12 points and 14 rebounds and 15 points and 16 rebounds in the past two weeks. "He's getting better, I tell you," Bobcats interim coach Paul Silas said Monday. "He's shooting that little jump shot. He can make layups now. Free-throw shooting, he's getting a lot better. His defense and his rebounding are always going to be there, but those other parts of the game that weren't, he's really producing now."
Analysis: Brown has found a way to stick around in the NBA for 10 seasons by refusing to dwell on his troubles after becoming the first player to skip college and be the first pick in the draft. "You can't see what's in front of you by looking back," Brown said. "I want you to walk through that door turned around. You're going to bust your head. I don't do that." Brown will still have his struggles, as he hasn't scored in double figures in three straight games and has seen fewer minutes in those contests, but at least he's not insignificant any longer. In fact, Fantasy owners should probably have him at least on rosters in most deeper formats at this point.
News: The Charlotte Observer reports Tuesday that Bobcats center Kwame Brown likes playing for new Charlotte coach Paul Silas. Brown told the newspaper that every previous coach he's played for over nine seasons has discouraged him from shooting. On Monday at Philadelphia, Brown played 42 minutes and finished with 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Analysis: Brown is only owned in 27 percent of leagues on CBSSports.com and might be worth adding now if you need help at center. He's starting in place of Nazr Mohammed, and he might stay there with his recent play. If Brown can continue to play at this level he might be worth using in all leagues as a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Bobcats C Kwame Brown is sure to garner some attention off the waiver wire in Fantasy hoops leagues after a second consecutive double-double on Monday in Philadelphia. Playing 42 minutes as a starter, Brown managed 15 points with 16 rebounds.
Analysis: Brown has taken advantage of his chance to start over Nazr Mohammed while he was down and looks to have entrenched himself in the starting lineup. Given his track record, it is easy to be skeptical about Brown, but the results have been good for Charlotte's offensive numbers under new coach Paul Silas and Brown could be a steal off the waiver wire at this point. He'll continue to get a chance to play big minutes as long as he remains this productive.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown tied season highs for points and rebounds on Saturday night against the Hornets. In doing so he recorded his first double-double of the year -- scoring 12 points and grabbing 14 boards in 30 minutes on the court. Charlotte would lose to New Orleans, 88-81, but Brown was able to contribute in the paint. He shot 5 for 6 from the filed and converted 2 of his 5 foul shots. Brown added one steal for the Bobcats.
Analysis: Brown is starting to produce for the Bobcats recently. He's averaging 9.4 points and 7.2 boards over his last five games. While his Fantasy value is still really low, Brown is finally posting numbers worth attention. Consider to view him as a low-end center option in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Charlotte C Kwame Brown continues to start with Nazr Mohammed injured and he played fairly well on Monday in a win over the Grizzlies. Brown saw 33 minutes and shot 2 for 3 from the field with four free throws to score eight points. He added six rebounds and a block during his time on the court.
Analysis: Expectations are quite low at this point in Brown's career. He's averaging 7.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game over his last five and owners can't expect much more than that. He doesn't swat a lot of shots and he's not going to be starting for long. Because of that, Brown remains a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown snagged a season-high 14 rebounds in Wednesday's win over the Timberwolves. Brown -- who pulled down 12 boards in the first-half alone -- finished with eight points on 3 of 6 shooting. He also chipped in a steal in 36 minutes of action, which also represents a season-high.
Analysis: Brown will always be labeled a bust after being drafted No. 1 overall in 2001, but he will have a chance to play more than he has in a long while with the Bobcats because they are dealing with front-court injuries to Nazr Mohammed (who has no time-table for a return) and DeSagana Diop (out for the season). Brown might actually be worth owning in Fantasy play for the first time in several years, but starting him is still considered a risk. With no one else to play center in Charlotte, he will continue to play 30-plus minutes, so taking a flier on him is not a bad idea.
News: The Bobcats were without starting center Nazr Mohammed on Monday against Miami and instead started Kwame Brown down low. Brown was overmatched and went just 1 for 4 from the field over 22 minutes. He scored five points and added seven rebounds and a steal.
Analysis: Brown had been a DNP-CD after Paul Silas' first game as coach of the Bobcats and had been inactive in the previous two. He's looked somewhat impressive at times this season, but always goes back to mediocrity. He has low-end Fantasy value when he's on the court.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown earned his first start of the season in Tuesday's 99-81 loss to the Thunder. Brown played 32 minutes in the contest and finished with nine points on 3 of 4 shooting from the field. He went 3 of 6 at the charity stripe and also chipped in with five rebounds and a block in the defeat.
Analysis: Brown has actually been one of the more pleasant surprises for the Bobcats this season. He is averaging 8.8 points and 5.4 rebounds over his last five contests and slowly but surely has been earning more playing time. Still, he is way too inconsistent to use in the majority of Fantasy leagues and his track record suggests his recent run of strong play will not last. Continue to ignore him in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown notched his second double-digit scoring total of the season in Tuesday's 97-91 win over the Raptors. Brown scored 10 points in the contest on 5 of 8 shooting from the floor. He played 18 minutes off the bench and also chipped in with six rebounds and a steal in victory.
Analysis: Brown has now scored in double figures twice in his last five games. He has actually been seeing more minutes than many people expected of late, but is still way too inconsistent to trust in Fantasy play. Continue to ignore the former top overall pick in the NBA Draft.
News: Charlotte center Kwame Brown scored a season-high 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the Bobcats' 109-91 loss at Philadelphia on Saturday. Brown logged a season-high 21 minutes for the Bobcats, who were playing their third game in the last four nights. Brown finished 4 of 6 from the field while sinking 4 of 5 from the free-throw line to finish with his highest point total since April 15, 2009.
Analysis: No need to get worked up by the nice outing from the former top overall pick in the NBA Draft as a tired Charlotte team concluded one of its tightest stretches of the season. Brown should resume seeing fewer than 15 minutes a night -- his average is 11.1 this season -- and should not be owned in Fantasy leagues.
News: Charlotte C Kwame Brown will miss Saturday's game against the Suns after playing against Miami on Friday. Brown is not going to play in the second half of back-to-back games so soon after returning from his ankle injury.
Analysis: Brown looked sluggish and overweight in his first game back and is going to need a lot of playing time before he gets into any kind of rhythm. Not playing the second half of back-to-back contests, he's still very low-end in Fantasy right now.
News: Charlotte C Kwame Brown (ankle) was active for the first time all season on Monday against the Timberwolves. Brown missed the first 10 games of the season and all of training camp with a left ankle sprain. Brown was cleared earlier in the day Monday after the results of a CT scan. He scored three points on 1 of 2 shooting and played just 11 minutes. Brown added three rebounds and three blocked shots but looked slugging and overweight.
Analysis: Brown may be active but we're still not sure what to expect out of him. The once-promising center has become nothing but a low-end reserve in all Fantasy leagues at this point in his career until he actually shows something on the court against real competition.
News: The Charlotte Observer reports that Bobcats C Kwame Brown (ankle) could make his regular season debut on Monday night against Minnesota. Brown said after the team's morning shootaround that he would undergo a CT scan and that if everything checked out, he would play. Brown missed the preseason and the team's first 10 games with a severe ankle sprain. "It's all right. I've just got to get my explosion down,'' Brown said of how he feels physically.
Analysis: Brown also scratched a cornea and is expected to play wearing goggles as protection. He'll have to earn his minutes off the bench initially and is not a player we recommend owning in Fantasy formats. Monitor his progress.
News: Bobcats C Kwame Brown was listed as inactive for Saturday's game against the Jazz as he continued to deal with a left ankle sprain. He has yet to play this season.
Analysis: Brown has begun practicing with Charlotte but no word yet on when he might be ready for some game action. When healthy, Brown will give the Bobcats some depth on the frontcourt, but won't produce enough stats to make himself worth owning. Leave him on the waiver wire in all formats at this point.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown (ankle) sat out another game for Charlotte as he is still recovering from a sprained left ankle. He can practice with the team, but has not made it into any game yet this season.
Analysis: Brown hasn't played yet this year and even when he does play, Fantasy owners won't want to add him to their roster. When healthy, Brown will give the Bobcats some depth on the frontcourt, but won't produce enough stats to make himself worth owning. Leave him on the waiver wire in all formats at this time.
News: Charlotte C Kwame Brown (ankle) continues to miss time as he sat out Wednesday at Toronto. Brown is still recovering from a sprained left ankle, reports NBA.com. He has been cleared for contact in practice but is not yet ready to play in games.
Analysis: We keep telling you that Brown is getting closer to returning but he keeps sitting out, making us look bad. He's still going to likely need a week or two to get back into game shape when he is finally able to return. When healthy, Brown will give the Bobcats some depth on the frontcourt, but isn't worth owning in any Fantasy league at this time until he proves his value on the court.
News: Charlotte C Kwame Brown (ankle) was inactive for Monday against the Spurs. Brown is still recovering from a sprained left ankle, reports NBA.com. He has been cleared for contact in practice but is not yet ready to play in games.
Analysis: Brown is getting closer, which is good news for Charlotte. The bad news is that he will likely need a week or two to get back into game shape. When healthy, Brown will give the Bobcats some depth on the frontcourt, but isn't worth owning in any Fantasy league at this time until he proves his value on the court.
News: Bobcats C Kwame Brown was inactive again for Saturday night's game against the Magic. He is still recovering from a sprained left ankle suffered during training camp. Brown has been cleared for contact in practice, but is not yet ready for game action. Coach Larry Brown said Brown is "getting closer" to return.
Analysis: Brown is getting closer, which is good news for Charlotte. The bad news is that he will likely need a week or two to get back into game shape. When healthy, Brown will give the Bobcats some depth on the frontcourt, but isn't worth owning in any Fantasy league at this time.

News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown (ankle) was cleared for contact on Friday, according to the Charlotte Obeserver. Brown missed all of the preseason with a sprained left ankle and has yet to play in the regular season. He is getting close however.
Analysis: Brown is getting closer, which is good news for Charlotte. The bad news is that he will likely need a week or two to get back into game shape. When healthy, Brown will give the Bobcats some depth on the frontcourt, but isn't worth owning in any Fantasy league at this time.
News: Charlotte C Kwame Brown remains on the inactive list and could not play on Wednesday against New Jersey. Brown has yet to be cleared to scrimmage for the Bobcats but has been able to run some plays in practice. He is making progress.
Analysis: Brown is still going to need more time to return and will be worked slowly into the game when he does come back. Even when healthy, his minutes off the bench will be too inconsistent for him to make a worthwhile impact in Fantasy. You can leave him on waivers.
News: Bobcats C Kwame Brown, who has been out since before the exhibition season with an ankle injury, hasn't been cleared to scrimmage, but he is able to run plays in practice, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Analysis: Sounds like Brown is a way's away from returning. Even when healthy, his minutes off the bench will be too inconsistent for him to make a worthwhile impact in Fantasy. You can leave him on waivers.
News: Charlotte center Kwame Brown missed his third straight game on Saturday as he continues to deal with an ankle injury. He missed the entire preseason and there is no timetable for his return.
Analysis: On Friday Charlotte coach Larry Brown said Brown has been able to work out a little, but that still doesn't help the team or Fantasy owners right now. Brown will add some frontcourt depth when he does return, but until he does he can be ignored and left on waivers.
News: Charlotte center Kwame Brown missed his second straight game with an ankle injury on Friday. He missed the entire preseason and the Bobcats aren't sure when they'll have his services. Bobcats coach Larry Brown said Brown has started to work out some.
Analysis: Charlotte is thin in the frontcourt, so getting Brown will be a nice boost. But with him missing so much time, there is no way to know how effective he'll be once he comes back. He has started to work out some but Fantasy owners should continue to avoid him until he does something on the court.
News: Charlotte C Kwame Brown (ankle) was ruled inactive for the Wednesday night season opener at Dallas. Brown missed the entire preseason and the Bobcats do not know exactly when he will return.
Analysis: Brown could be back against the Pacers Friday or he could miss a large chunk of the early part of the season. Right now the Bobcats just don't know what to expect. Fantasy owners are in the same boat. Until he shows something on the court, owners can avoid him.
News: Bobcats center Kwame Brown did not play at all during the preseason for Charlotte as he continues to deal with an ankle sprain. Brown signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Bobcats in late August in hopes to give them depth on the frontcourt.
Analysis: Brown averaged 3.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.2 blocks per contest in 48 games for Detroit last season. The Bobcats are thin at center and with Brown out it doesn't look good. Fantasy owners should not target Brown early on in the season, but he is worth monitoring as the season progresses -- if he can get healthy.
News: Bobcats C Kwame Brown was in a protective boot at the team's media day after a severe ankle sprain suffered last week. Brown signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Bobcats in late August.
Analysis: When Brown signed, the Bobcats expressed concern over his conditioning. He'll head into the regular season as one of three center options along with Nazr Mohammed and DeSagana Diop. The team's front court situation is a mess and it likely won't result in much production for Fantasy owners, but Brown is worth monitoring in larger formats.
News:Kwame Brown signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Bobcats on Tuesday. General manager Rod Higgins acknowledged a pudgy-looking Kwame Brown must get in better shape, they believe he can fit in a rotation with Nazr Mohammed and DeSagana Diop despite suspect offensive skills.
Analysis: The Bobcats believe the 28-year-old Brown, despite his history of underachieving, can help make up for the loss of Tyson Chandler and Theo Ratliff in the offseason. Coach Larry Brown likes long, athletic centers - and reclamation projects. He won't be much of a Fantasy option once again this fall, but will be worth a look off the waiver wire from time to time in deeper formats if sees even 20 minutes or so per game.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Pistons C Kwame Brown grabbed a season-high 15 rebounds against Indiana on Tuesday. His previous high was eight. Brown has received extended minutes lately as the backup center to Jason Maxiell with Ben Wallace sidelined.
Analysis: Although he is seeing increased minutes, Brown is averaging just 3.3 points and 6.5 rebounds over his last five games. The only Fantasy value he provides is in 12-team and deeper leagues because he is a cheap source of rebounds.
News: Detroit C Kwame Brown saw 25 minutes off the bench in Wednesday night's season opener against the Grizzlies. Brown scored four points on 2 of 3 shooting. He grabbed four boards as well.
Analysis: Brown might get to start for the Pistons in the future but isn't at the moment. He's been nothing but a bust his entire career and will be at best a cheap source of rebounds in Fantasy play this year.
News: The X-rays taken on Detroit C Kwame Brown's hand were negative. Brown is considered questionable for the team's regular season opener on Wednesday at Memphis.
Analysis: Brown might get to start for the Pistons, but he's been nothing but a bust his entire career and will be at best a cheap source of rebounds in Fantasy. He should go undrafted in most formats.
News: Pistons C Kwame Brown sat out Thursday's preseason game against the Timberwolves with a hand injury. Pistons coach John Kuester said before the game that he expected Brown to play, but he didn't. "We still haven't seen the final results of the tests," Kuester said after the game, adding that Brown is questionable for Friday's preseason finale in Milwaukee.
Analysis: Brown might get to start for the Pistons, but he's been nothing but a bust his entire career and will be at best a cheap source of rebounds in Fantasy. He should go undrafted in most formats.
News: Dealing with a hamstring injury, Detroit C Kwame Brown was still able to play in Monday's game against the Bulls. Brown saw 20 minutes in the game and shot 1-of-2 for two points. He grabbed seven rebounds.
Analysis: Brown is averaging four points and eight boards over his last four games for the Pistons. He comes off the bench and makes little contribution. He's only recommended for use in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: The Detroit News reports Pistons center Kwame Brown (left hamstring) was scheduled for treatment Sunday. A team therapist was optimistic Brown would be ready to play Monday night against Chicago.
Analysis: Keep Brown reserved in all leagues. When healthy, he has minimal Fantasy value now that Rasheed Wallace has returned from his calf injury. Brown played well when Wallace was out, but he's back to being a low-end Fantasy option.
News: In a rare game in which he played well, Pistons C Kwame Brown scored 15 points in 27 minutes and picked up seven rebounds. Brown shot 6-of-11 with two blocks.
Analysis: Brown is averaging seven points, seven boards and less than one block per night over his last five games. He's starting right now over Rasheed Wallace but he plays less minutes and is not worth using in anything but the very deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Pistons center Rasheed Wallace will have a new role when he returns to the floor Saturday night against the Sixers. Pistons coach Michael Curry said Wallace, who returns after serving a one-game suspension for picking up too many technical fouls, will be a reserve, reports mlive.com. That means Kwame Brown will remain with the first unit. Prior to the suspension, Wallace had missed 11 of the 12 previous games due to a strained left calf injury. While he is moving better, Curry said he still plans to limit Wallace's minutes. "If I'm going to play Sheed limited minutes, I'd rather him be in a position where he could play in the fourth quarter," Curry said. "Coming off the bench, right now while limiting his minutes, is probably going to be (for) the best."
Analysis: Wallace is still worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy center. He can still get enough production off the bench to help your team in this role. Brown remains a low-end Fantasy option at this time.
News: Detroit C Kwame Brown ripped down 11 rebounds on Saturday at Washington in 26 minutes as a starter. Brown, however, failed to score in the game as he went just 0-for-1 from the field. He added a block and a steal.
Analysis: Brown is averaging eight boards per game over his last five contests but that comes with six points and less than a block. He's only worth using in Fantasy if you are absolutely desperate for cheap rebounds in the deepest of leagues.
News: Detroit C Kwame Brown scored seven points and added seven rebounds in a starting opportunity against the Heat on Sunday. He attempted only two shots, making one and hitting five of the six free throws he attempted.
Analysis: Brown is still not much of a force in Detroit despite getting starting minutes. He'll be all but irrelevant when Rasheed Wallace returns to action. He's still now worth using in Fantasy.
News: Pistons fans witnessed a rare sight: Kwame Brown being interviewed after a game as one of the night's stars. Brown, who has struggled since being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft, had 10 points and played 26 minutes of tough defense against Dwight Howard as Detroit beat the Magic 98-94. He stepped up after Rasheed Wallace left with a first-quarter injury. "I'm not sure if that was preparation or just birthday luck," said Brown, who turns 27 on Tuesday. "It felt great to go out there and battle with someone like Dwight, who is one of the best players in this league."
Analysis: Well, like the update said, Brown isn't interviewed after games too often because he doesn't produce all that much. Leave him on waivers despite this small breakthrough.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Detroit C Kwame Brown made a surprise start Sunday to help defend Shaquille O'Neal. Brown had not played in the previous five games. Brown played 19 minutes and had four points, nine rebounds and three turnovers.
Analysis: It's obvious that with time Brown could at least rebound at a nice pace for Fantasy owners at a very weak position. That said, you cannot possibly pick him up until he repeats these kind of minutes and production over an extended period of time.
News: The Detroit Free Press reports that Amir Johnson was named a full-time starter before Friday's game against Boston. That means Kwame Brown, who had been starting against bigger opponents, will sit. We're done with that experiment," coach Michael Curry said. "We're going to continue to start Amir just because of his activity -- even if we have to put Rasheed on the top scoring big and put Amir on a bigger guy."
Analysis: Johnson, in his fourth season, had been sharing the starting spot with Brown. Johnson had just two points in five minutes of action as a "starter" Friday, so we would not get too excited about this promotion. He has very limited upside. Brown has not played in three of his last five games and is not even close to being a recommended Fantasy option.
News: Pistons head coach Michael Curry said he didn't plan to start Kwame Brown again. "That experiment is over," Curry said. Detroit is 9-9 with the former No. 1 pick in the starting lineup.
Analysis: Brown's value didn't go up even when he was starting, so this news makes him even less valuable in Fantasy. Which is hard to believe. Leave him on waivers.
News: According to The Sports Xchange, Pistons C Kwame Brown played eight minutes Friday against the Mavericks and will probably get more playing time Sunday because his girth is needed against Houston's Yao Ming. Michael Curry says he'll start Brown in place of Amir Johnson against teams with large post players and the Rockets are one of those clubs.
Analysis: Brown's Fantasy value does not go up all that much as he is only going to get more playing time because of his defensive prowess against certain teams. Leave him on waivers.
News: The Detroit Free Press reports that Pistons coach Michael Curry announced Tuesday that Richard Hamilton will lose his place in the starting lineup as a small forward. Amir Johnson will replace him in the starting lineup on most nights. Center Kwame Brown will start against especially big teams.
Analysis: Brown's Fantasy value gets a bit of a boost, but not much. Brown has not played in three of his last five games and is not going to be a featured part of the team's offensive plans even when he does start. Fantasy owners should still considered him a very low-end option.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Pistons C Kwame Brown made his first start since Dec. 7 on Friday in a win over the Kings. Brown didn't play well, contributing just two points and four rebounds in 16 minutes. He only played four second-half minutes.
Analysis: So much for that experiment, huh? Brown is still the undisputed king of busts in the NBA Draft. He's got exactly nine points over his last five games, doesn't rebound or block shots and probably won't get much minutes going forward. Even as a center at a weak position, Brown is still someone only worth owning in the deepest of leagues. And we're talking like 30-team leagues here.
News: According to The Sports Xchange, C Kwame Brown did not play after getting benched Tuesday night against the Wizards. Brown is out of the rotation for the time being with Antonio McDyess on the club. McDyess is capable of guarding the biggest centers of the league, reducing Brown's role as a defender against those opponents.
Analysis: With MyDyess back on the Pistons, Brown's value drops to all but nothing. Ignore him in Fantasy, unless you think he'll one day live up to his high draft pick.
News:Kwame Brown had his best game of the season Friday against his former team, the Lakers. He scored 10 points and added 10 rebounds as a starter for his first double-double as a member of the Pistons.
Analysis: Brown started at power forward and may have been used more for his familiarity with the Lakers than anything else. Don't get too excited, though. Brown has rarely been a consistent Fantasy threat and the fact that Antonio McDyess could be returning to the team limits his long-term potential. Take a low-risk flier on him in deeper leagues, but stash him until he proves consistent. If he does not, it's safe to cut him.
News: Detroit coach Michael Curry made a lineup change, starting Kwame Brown for the first time this season and bringing Amir Johnson off the bench. Curry said he would stick with this lineup for the time being.
Analysis: Brown finished the game with just two points, three rebounds and a block in 10 minutes on the floor. This lineup change will not change his Fantasy value much as Brown's playing time is not expected to change.
News: Detroit C Kwame Brown played 18 minutes in Wednesday's win over Toronto and scored three points. Brown added four rebounds.
Analysis: Brown came into the game averaging 3.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 9.3 minutes per game in Detroit over three games this season. The one-time top NBA Draft pick sees limited minutes and doesn't produce when he gets them. He can be left on waivers at this time.
News: The Pistons will have just two games this week, but the matchups are not horrible. Indiana gave up 105.4 points per game last season and the Wizards enter the season with two of their starters out of the lineup in Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood. Detroit, however, enters the season in good shape.
Analysis: The starting lineup has just one change this season with Amir Johnson starting at power forward over Antonio McDyess. But McDyess is career reserve player who produces just as much -- and sometimes more -- off the bench than he does as a starter. Johnson has some appeal in Rotisserie as a shotblocker, but most of the minutes at the four will still go to McDyess. A two-game first week is not the right opportunity to use Johnson in Fantasy. That may come later on. Chauncey Billups sould be a safe play in most formats this week despite the two games as should Richard Hamilton. But Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace's situation depends on options available. This is not the week to take a chance on players like Rodney Stuckey, Jason Maxiell or Kwame Brown.
News: The Detroit Pistons have signed free agent center Kwame Brown, the overall No. 1 pick in the 2001 draft. The team announced the signing on Monday. Brown, the No. 1 pick overall in 2001, will make $4 million next season. If Brown exercises an option for the 2009-10 season, he will play in Detroit for another $4 million. If Brown doesn't take the option, he become a free agent again next summer and the Pistons won't owe him anything.
Analysis: Brown has averaged just 7.5 points and 5.7 rebounds over his career that started with the Washington Wizards and continued with the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies. The 6-foot-11, 270-pound center had the best season of his NBA career with the Wizards four years ago, when he averaged 10.9 points and 7.4 rebounds. He's been waiver wire fodder in Fantasy hoops leagues ever since. Brown is coming off perhaps his biggest disappointment, scoring just 4.8 points a game - his lowest average since his rookie year - with the Lakers and Grizzlies. The Pistons won't need Brown to live up to the billing of being the top pick in the draft, but they will count on him to add depth at center and power forward.
News:Kwame Brown and the Detroit Pistons agreed to terms on a deal potentially worth $8 million over two seasons, team president of basketball operations Joe Dumars told The Associated Press on Monday night. Brown, the No. 1 pick overall in 2001, will make $4 million next season. If Brown exercises an option for the 2009-10 season, he will play in Detroit for another $4 million. If Brown doesn't take the option, he become a free agent again next summer and the Pistons won't owe him anything.

News:Kwame Brown appeared in just 15 games after being traded from Los Angeles to Memphis in the Pau Gasol trade. He averaged only 3.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in those games.
Analysis: Brown started just one of those games, which means the Grizzlies thought higher of super-bust Darko Milicic. So what does that make Brown? A very poor Fantasy option, that's what. He peaked in 2003-04, when he averaged 10.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in Washington. He hasn't even approached those numbers since. He should only be considered in the very late rounds in deeper Fantasy leagues in the hopes that he can find himself playing 20 minutes per game again.
News: Grizzlies F/C Darko Milicic had 4 points with 2 rebounds in just 15 minutes of action Friday against Dallas. Kwame Brown played 31 minutes and scored 6 points with 8 rebounds.
Analysis: Darko should be enjoying quite a Fantasy boost after the departure of Pau Gasol cleared things up for him in the post to produce, but that hasn't happened. In fact, Darko saw Kwame Brown take most of his minutes on Friday. Brown remains a low-end Fantasy option, but could pick up some value if he continues to take Darko's minutes.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Kwame Brown's first offensive move as a Memphis Grizzly on Tuesday against the Bucks was to run over someone and draw a charging foul. He picked up another foul seconds later. Needless to say, his debut of four points and four rebounds off the bench was less than inspiring. But then again, Brown knows the Griz only got him and his expiring $9 million contract to clear cap space. "That's not any of my business," Brown said. "I just have to come out and play hard. We've got a young team here, and there's definitely an opportunity for me to get minutes. This could be a fortunate situation for me. I didn't get to play much out in L.A."
Analysis: Brown's entire career has been disappointing since he was selected No. 1 overall in the 2001 draft. "People have their opinions," Brown said. "I can't live up to what everybody believes. All I can live up to is God and myself. If we had to do that draft all over, who knows what would have happened. Probably the same thing would have happened. Everybody's a genius after the fact." Look to see how Kwame fits in with the Grizzlies before relying too heavily on him in Fantasy leagues.
News: The Lakers have acquired Pau Gasol from the Grizzlies for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, the rights to Marc Gasol and first-round picks in 2008 and 2010, sources have told Tony Mejia of CBSSports.com.
Analysis: Brown goes from being a starter on the Lakers to possibly coming off the bench for the Grizzlies who are in a flux in the front court. They are trading away Stromile Swift as well so the team could go a couple of ways. They could play it small Darko Milicic at center and Rudy Gay at power forward, or they could go with Brown at center with Darko at power forward. Look to see how Kwame fares with his new team, but this isn't really great news for his Fantasy appeal.
News: Lakers center Kwame Brown was one of three Lakers with a double-double Tuesday night against the Knicks. Brown had 10 points and 11 rebounds, joining Kobe Bryant (24 points, 11 assists) and Lamar Odom (22 points, 12 rebounds) with the mark.
Analysis: Brown has been up-and-down in his performance since Andrew Bynum went down with a knee injury. Still, Brown is a center, and he gets extended minutes, so continue to start him as a No. 2 option is all scoring formats.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown scored 10 points Friday at Dallas, marking only the second time he's scored in double figures in a game this season. He also had five rebounds.
Analysis: Brown has averaged 5.8 points and 6.5 rebounds as a starting center this season, making him no better than a low-end No. 2 Fantasy center when starting. He clearly doesn't have the scoring potential of injured starter Andrew Bynum.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown had just six points and six rebounds in Wednesday's loss at San Antonio. He's failed to score in double digits since he had 10 points and 10 rebounds in his first game starting in place of the injured Andrew Bynum.
Analysis: Brown did manage 11 rebounds in his previous game vs. Denver and Fantasy owners should expect him to be around nine points and nine rebounds per game when he's going well with the possibility of a block or two. For that reason, he's worth consideration as a No. 2 center.
News: Lakers center Kwame Brown had seven points, 11 rebounds and two assists in 24 minutes Monday against Denver. Brown now has 27 rebounds in his past three games.
Analysis: Brown should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy center as long as Andrew Bynum (knee) remains out. If he's available in your leagues, add Brown at this time.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown had a rough game in his second start since taking over for Andrew Bynum, who will be out for the next two months with a dislocated kneecap. Brown scored just eight points with six rebounds, turning the ball over seven times while picking up five fouls.
Analysis: Brown had a double-double in his first start after Bynum's injury and he should be around 10 points and 10 rebounds per night for the most part as long as he continues to start for Bynum. There are some rumors that the Lakers could be the destination for free agent Chris Webber, but nothing concrete. If Brown is available off the waiver wire, pick him up as a useful No. 2 center.
News: Lakers center Kwame Brown started Monday at Seattle and finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds in 39 minutes. It was Brown's seventh start of the season but first since the news of Andrew Bynum being out for eight weeks with a knee injury.
Analysis: Browns will get a significant Fantasy boost with Bynum out. His scoring likely won't change, but his production will increase just by the additional minutes. Consider Brown a No. 2 Fantasy center at this time.
News: According to broadcast reports, Andrew Bynum will miss at least eight weeks with a kneecap injury. He was helped off the court in the third quarter of Sunday's game against Memphis, but X-rays taken at the arena Sunday night had come out negative. Kwame Brown is expected to start in his place for the foreseeable future.
Analysis: Bynum was slated to undergo an MRI on Monday and obviously the results were not good. Brown will start in Bynum's place for the time being, but we expect Lamar Odom to benefit most from this injury from a Fantasy standpoint. Brown is worth an add as a No. 2 center in larger leagues, but don't expect him to give you the double-double production Bynum would.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown played 26 minutes off the bench Sunday against the Grizzlies -- his most since Nov. 16. The Lakers had a greater need for him after starting C Andrew Bynum limped off the court with a sprained knee. Brown finished with three points and six rebounds.
Analysis: Brown might get the call to start if Bynum can't play for a few games, but he has yet to produce a 10-point or 10-rebound performance all season -- and he opened as the team's starter. If you desperately need a center in Fantasy, take a flier on him off waivers. More likely, though, you can just leave him be.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown played in his sixth consecutive game Wednesday against the Hornets since returning to the lineup Dec. 28 against the Jazz after missing five weeks with knee and ankle injuries. Brown scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds against the Hornets. He hasn't scored in double figures since returning to the lineup.
Analysis: Unfortunately for Brown and his Fantasy owners, youngster Andrew Bynum has thrived in his absence, meaning the chances of him regaining the starting role have dwindled to slim at best. He still has talent and remains a decent reserve center, but one who can probably go unowned in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown played for the first time since Nov. 18 Friday against the Lakers after missing five weeks with knee and ankle injuries. He had seven points and five rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Kwame Brown (knee, ankle) was supposed to travel on the Lakers' upcoming four-game trip, but Coach Phil Jackson decided against it because Brown "couldn't get on the floor and practice with us yet."
Analysis: He has been trying to recover from injuries and boredom since Chicago center Ben Wallace tumbled into his left knee and ankle on Nov. 18. He has missed 14 games with moderate sprains and was acerbic when told he would apparently be skipping another trip -- which also meant more one-on-one workout time with athletic performance director Chip Schaefer. He's clearly not a player that should be in an active Fantasy lineup at this point.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown missed his 13th straight game with injuries to his left knee and ankle Friday at Golden State. No timetable has been announced for his return.
Analysis: Brown continues to be one of the biggest busts in NBA history, and a slew of injuries have really attributed to his downfall. He is nothing more than a No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown missed his 12th straight game with injuries to his left knee and ankle Thursday against the Spurs. No timetable has been announced for his expected return.
Analysis: Brown continues to be one of the biggest busts in NBA history and a slew of injuries have really attributed to his downfall. He is nothing more than a No. 2 Fantasy center when healthy.
News:Kwame Brown (knee) sat out his 10th straight game Sunday, but is still considered day to day.
Analysis: Brown is dealing with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Keep him reserved until further notice. There are also rumors that he may be traded.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown will be sidelined indefinitely with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Lakers spokesman John Black said an MRI on Monday revealed the extent of the injury. Brown suffered it in the Lakers' 106-78 victory over Chicago on Sunday. He will not make the team's upcoming three-game road trip. The team will reevaluate him in about a week.
Analysis: Brown was averaging 4.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in his first six games this season. He's never quite made the most of his potential and has rightfully fallen out of favor in Fantasy leagues. This injury should only affect deeper leagues, where he should remained reserved.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown suffered a sprained knee and ankle Sunday night vs. Chicago. He underwent X-rays which were negative and is considered day to day.
Analysis: Brown is a very risky start for the upcoming scoring period as he could very easily miss two or three games as a result of the injuries.
News: Lakers usual starting C Kwame Brown returned Tuesday at San Antonio after suffering bursitis in his right heel and missing two games, but he played limited minutes, scoring only seven points in 15 off the bench.
Analysis: When healthy, Brown usually starts, but Andrew Bynum gets better stats in the 50/50 timeshare. Think of Brown as a No. 3 center in Fantasy.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown sat out his second straight game Friday against the Timberwolves with bursitis in his right heel.
Analysis: When healthy, Brown usually starts, but Andrew Bynum gets better stats in the 50/50 timeshare. Think of Brown as a No. 3 center in Fantasy.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown sat out Tuesday night's loss to the Hornets with bursitis in his right heel. Brown, averaging 5.7 points and 7.3 rebounds this season, said he expects to be able to play on Friday when the Lakers play host to Minnesota.
Analysis: When healthy, Brown continues to start for the Lakers, but is still sharing a 50-50 split with Andrew Bynum. Brown is nothing more than a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy center at this time.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown scored seven points and pulled down nine rebounds in 25 minutes Friday against the Suns. He now has 17 rebounds in his first two games.
Analysis: Brown continues to start for the Lakers, but is still sharing a 50-50 split with Andrew Bynum. Brown is nothing more than a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy center at this time.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown brought down eight rebounds in Tuesday night's season-opening loss to Houston. He also scored eight points and added an assist and a steal.
Analysis: Brown looked pretty good in the opener despite the fact that he wasn't exactly featured in the offense (he took only three shots). He came up two points and two boards shy of a double double on opening night. As long as he continues to start, fighting off youngster Andrew Bynum for minutes, Bynum can begin to be considered as a low-end No. 2 center.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown (ankle) was able to start Thursday's preseason game vs. Seattle. He finished with one point and four rebounds in just under 10 minutes.
Analysis: Brown clearly is not up to speed as he tries to recover from ankle surgery. That's what the preseason is for. Brown remains useful as reserve Fantasy center, but the upside that was once there is no longer expected to surface.
News: Lakers head coach Phil Jackson and Kwame Brown don't see eye-to-eye on when the 6-foot-11 center can return to action following offseason ankle surgery, according to The Press-Enterprise. Jackson thinks Brown can play in the Lakers' preseason opener Monday against the Warriors, but Brown, who's complained of soreness in the ankle at times, disagrees. "Would that be the smart thing to do? No," he said. "If this was a playoff game and I had to just soldier through it, yeah, I could play. That's kind of the position that we're in. I just want to get healthy so I don't have to play one game and then the next day I'm all sore."
Analysis: Brown was cleared to play full court only earlier this week, so him not feeling ready to play in a preseason game just yet shouldn't come as a surprise. He says he wants to ensure that he heals in time for the regular-season opener Oct. 30. "That's my goal," Brown said. "I hope that's their goal. I hope we're all on the same page. But I do understand that preseason gets you in some type of rhythm." We expect to see Brown take the court sooner rather than later, so continue to draft him as a No. 2 center in Fantasy for now.
News: Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown, charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer after his cousin was charged with drunken driving last weekend, claimed Wednesday it was simply a misunderstanding. "The truth will come out like it always does," Brown said after the Lakers' second day of practice at their training camp. "I can't go into any case that's open."
Analysis: The 25-year-old Brown averaged 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and a career-best 1.2 blocked shots in 41 games last season. He had offseason surgery on a sprained left ankle. This issue shouldn't cause Brown to miss any playing time, so he remains a No. 2 Fantasy center for now.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer after his cousin was charged with drunken driving. Brown faces misdemeanor charges after Valdosta police pulled over Charles Warren Jr. early Saturday for driving the wrong way down a one-way street, Lt. Bobbi McGraw said Wednesday. She said there was no indication Brown was in the car, but that he happened to be in the area. Brown became disruptive and tried to interfere with the officers' investigation, which led to his arrest, McGraw said. Brown was released shortly after his arrest. He likely will appear in court on the charges within two months, McGraw said.
News: Lakers center Kwame Brown, who underwent reconstructive surgery on his left ankle last month, is scheduled for an operation on his right shoulder Wednesday. Brown, who will have a bursa sac and scar tissue removed, is expected to make a full recovery. A timeline for his return will be determined after surgery. Brown had ankle surgery on May 29, and Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak doesn't expect that to keep him from being at or near 100 percent when training camp begins in October.
Analysis: The 25-year-old Brown averaged 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots in 41 games last season. He is a No. 2 center at best heading into 2007-08, but hopefully he will come into the season healthy.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown averaged 8.4 ppg and 6.0 rpg in 41 appearances during the 2006-07 regular season.
Analysis: Brown is no longer a "promising" young Fantasy talent, but the potential for bigger numbers is there. The presence of Chris Mihm and Andrew Bynum, however, severely limits his potential for a breakout season. Even with no Mihm in 2006-07, he failed to do anything special. Consider him a low-end No. 2 center and draft him as a reserve.
News: Kwame Brown reported some improvement in his sore left ankle, but said he returned to action Sunday versus Seattle mainly because the Lakers had been losing.
Analysis: Brown continues to be an intriguing Fantasy option, but has yet to prove to be reliable as anything more than a No. 2 center in leagues of 12-plus leagues. He should be selected in the late rounds again next season.
News: Kwame Brown is talking about possibly not returning from his sore left ankle for the playoffs, but the Lakers still hope he gives it a try.
Analysis: In any case, it is almost a certainty that his regular season has come to an end. Brown continues to be an intriguing Fantasy option, but has yet to prove to be reliable as anything more than a No. 2 center in leagues of 12-plus leagues. He should be selected in the late rounds again next season.
News: Lakers forward Kwame Brown had an MRI on his sore left ankle, but no damage beyond a sprain was found.
Analysis: Brown missed Monday's game and should be reserved in all Fantasy leagues at this point.
News: Kwame Brown is expected to miss Monday's game against Denver and might sit out a few more games because of an injury that could require four months of recovery time during the off-season, according to the Los Angeles Times. "It'll take that long to get it stable and strong," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said.
Analysis: At this point, consider Kwame's Fantasy season over. He'll be a middle-to-late round selection in drafts next season, depending on what happens this offseason.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown (ankle) was not with the team Friday night in Seattle. He is considered day to day.
Analysis: Kwame should be back in another game or two, but is just not someone we recommend at this stage of the Fantasy season. There are more reliable and healthier options.
News: Kwame Brown sat out Wednesday against the Clippers after reinjuring his sore left ankle Tuesday night against Denver.
Analysis: Keep Brown reserved in all daily leagues and hope he can return at some point in the scoring period.
News: Lakers forward Kwame Brown re-injured his sore left ankle in the second quarter against Denver on Tuesday and might not play Wednesday against the Clippers. Brown had six points, three rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes.
Analysis: Keep Brown reserved in all daily leagues and hope he can return at some point in the scoring period.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown (ankle) returned to the team's lineup Friday against the Rockets.
Analysis: It appears safe to get Brown back into active Fantasy lineups. When healthy, he is a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Starting Lakers center Kwame Brown (sprained left ankle) missed Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies.
Analysis: Brown is considered day to day. Keep him reserved in all Fantasy leagues which allow daily transactions if you have healthier alternatives.
News: The Lakers' Kwame Brown will replace Andrew Bynum at center in Thursday's starting lineup against Denver. Unhappy with Bynum's inconsistency, Jackson had been planning to make the switch for last Sunday's game against the Dallas Mavericks but decided not to reward Brown after he showed up late for the team's shoot around.
Analysis: Brown now has increased value since he's back in the starting lineup. Bynum's value will now be decreased, but continue to watch their minutes and production to see who plays better.
News: Kwame Brown is likely to replace Andrew Bynum as the Lakers' starting center in light of Andrew Bynum's recent malaise. Bynum has scored in double figures just once in his past five games. Brown, meanwhile, has scored in double figures in three straight games.
Analysis: It appears safe to start using Brown as a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy forward. It might be a good idea to keep Bynum reserved for now.
News: Kwame Brown had a crucial shot blocked Tuesday by Minnesota guard Marko Jaric, but bounced back with a more polished offensive game Wednesday in Milwaukee. He scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Analysis: Brown returned to the team's lineup Friday after missing nearly two months with an ankle injury. The team has been taking it kind of slow with Brown, but his minutes are slowly continuing to increase. He could be very useful down the stretch for Fantasy owners and should be considered a decent low-end Fantasy option at this time.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown (ankle) was able to play Wednesday against the Bucks.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown was listed as probable with a sprained ankle, but played 21 minutes and scored two points in Tuesday's game at Minnesota.
Analysis: Monitor Brown's status in Wednesday's game at Milwaukee. We'll still consider him day to day until he can make it through a full game and prove he is 100 percent.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Lakers F Kwame Brown felt fine after his first game back from a severely sprained ankle on Saturday.
Analysis: Now he needs to work on getting into the flow of the offense. He barely looked at the basket whenever the ball was passed to him against Sacramento. "There's discomfort out there," Jackson said. "He hasn't been in enough practice or enough game situations to feel good." It appears safe to get Brown back into active Fantasy lineups. Before he got injured, he was averaging 8.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He could be a helpful Fantasy option down the stretch in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown returned to the team's lineup Friday against the Kings. He has been out of the lineup since early January with an ankle injury.
Analysis: It appears safe to get Brown back into active Fantasy lineups. Before he got injured, he was averaging 8.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. He could be a helpful Fantasy option down the stretch in most Fantasy leagues.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Lakers forward Luke Walton and Kwame Brown have missed a combined 42 games because of sprained ankles, but they increased their workouts again and took part in five-on-five scrimmages Wednesday. Walton said he wanted to play Friday against Sacramento, but Brown targeted Tuesday against Minnesota for his return.
Analysis: Keep Walton and Brown reserved in daily leagues, but it might be safe to use them in next week's scoring period. Continue to monitor Walton and Brown's status before setting your lineup.
News: The Lakers have three days without a game before playing Friday at home against Sacramento, and there is some hope among the Lakers that Luke Walton and Kwame Brown could return from their sprained ankles against the Kings.
Analysis: It is recommended to keep Walton and Brown reserved for the upcoming scoring period, but they could be used in daily leagues if it's confirmed of their playing status Friday.
News: Lakers center Kwame Brown flew back Wednesday to Los Angeles after seeing a specialist in Indianapolis for a second opinion on his severely sprained left ankle and is expected to be out at least another month, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
Analysis: Kwame is suffering a severe sprain and a bone bruise. They declined to set a timetable for his return but a source said Brown was told he will be out another four to six weeks. He already has missed 18 games since he suffered the injury Dec. 31 against Philadelphia. The loss of Brown has forced 19-year-old Andrew Bynum into the starting lineup, a spot he will hold for the foreseeable future.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown, from Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Ga., missed his 18th straight game with a left ankle sprain.
Analysis: He has been out since Dec. 31, but should likely miss at least another week. When healthy, wait to see how healthy he is before activating him as a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Kwame Brown is heading to Indianapolis for a second opinion Wednesday on his severely sprained ankle.
Analysis: He has been out since Dec. 31, but should likely miss at least another week. When healthy, wait to see how healthy he is before activating him as a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, Lakers C Kwame Brown hopes to return halfway through the team's upcoming road trip. He did a light workout Saturday.
Analysis: He has been out since Dec. 31, but should likely miss another week. When healthy, wait to see how healthy he is before activating him as a No. 2 Fantasy center.
News: Laker coach Phil Jackson said C Kwame Brown (sprained left ankle) and F Lamar Odom (sprained right knee) might "perhaps" practice soon but would not put a timetable on whether they would practice or play next week. "We can't throw that expectation out there," he said.
Analysis: Don't get excited yet about Brown and Odom making a return in the immediate future. They could still be weeks away from making a return. When healthy, both players are viable Fantasy options.
News: According to the Los Angeles Times, for the second time since his arrival in Los Angeles, forward Kwame Brown had a police report filed against him, this one involving a birthday cake. The Lakers center was accused of ruining a $190 chocolate cake belonging to a birthday celebrant, Alexander Martinez, who was holding it outside a Hermosa Beach club early Saturday morning. Brown was out with a group of teammates for Ronny Turiaf's birthday, when he exited the club at about 2 a.m., grabbed the cake and threw it, hitting Martinez's upper back, according to a police report. Brown then left in a limousine. Brown was accused of sexual assault by a college student last May in the middle of the Lakers' first-round playoff series against Phoenix. Prosecutors declined to file charges because of insufficient evidence.
Analysis: Brown, who is out with ankle injury, can't seem to stay out of trouble. Fantasy-wise, keep him reserved in all leagues until he returns.
News: Neither of the Lakers' injured players -- Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown -- accompanied the team on their trip to San Antonio, Dallas and Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Brown, sidelined since spraining his right ankle Dec. 31, has been making good progress. He is expected to be sidelined at least two more weeks.
News: Lakers coach Phil Jackson said C Kwame Brown, sidelined since spraining his right ankle Dec. 31, has been making good progress. "He's been doing a lot of forward running, he's been doing lateral movement," Jackson said. Brown, averaging 8.7 points and 6.6 rebounds, is expected to be sidelined at least two more weeks.
Analysis: This is good news for Brown, but keep him reserved until he's able to resume playing.
News: Los Angeles center Kwame Brown didn't break his left ankle on Sunday, but he did severely sprain it and the date of his return is up in the air. "We don't want to give a target date simply because everybody's body heals different, and there's no way to know at this time how long Kwame will take to heal from the injury," Lakers spokesman John Black said, according to the Los Angeles Times. Sprains of that type typically take 4-6 weeks to heal. Brown will be reevaluated in two weeks. A CT scan and MRI both showed no fracture in the ankle. Brown landed awkwardly on his ankle during Sunday's 104-94 Lakers win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: Keep Brown reserved until he's able to get back on the court, and hope it's sooner rather than later. When healthy, consider Brown a No. 2 center.
News: Lakers C/F Kwame Brown will miss at least the Lakers' next three games with an ankle sprain, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Analysis: That puts him out for the upcoming scoring period and Kwame will have to be reserved in all leagues until further notice. When healthy, he's been a decent No. 2 Fantasy center in leagues of 10-plus teams. Expect Andrew Bynum to get a nice boost in the meantime.
News: Lakers C Kwame Brown scored 11 points and brought down 15 rebounds in Friday's triple-overtime loss at Charlotte.
Analysis: Brown didn't practice Thursday because of minor knee soreness from a collision Wednesday night with Orlando's Grant Hill. That doesn't seem to be much of an issue now, though. Consider Kwame as a No. 2 center or No. 4 forward in Fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown scored 10 points in Wednesday's win at Orlando. He finished 4-for-7 from the floor and also added six rebounds.
Analysis: Consider Kwame as a No. 2 center or No. 4 forward in Fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.
News: Brown went right at Chicago's Ben Wallace on Tuesday night, scoring a season-high 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Analysis: Despite the big game, we are still only considering Kwame as a No. 2 center of No. 4 forward in Fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams until this kind of effort comes on a consistent basis.
News: Lakers F/C Kwame Brown had just five points and four rebounds in 30 minutes against Dallas Wednesday and was benched for Andrew Bynum for the last half of the fourth quarter.
Analysis: Brown was starting to become more of a consisent force in the Lakers starting lineup, but this can be considered a step back. We'd avoid starting him outside of leagues with 12-plus leagues. Even then, he should only be considered a No. 2 center or No. 4 forward. Bynum is worth owning in larger formats, but is no longer the solid start he was at the beginning of the season. Reserve him until he can regain a grip on the job.
News: Lakers head coach Phil Jackson has thought about taking Kwame Brown out of the starting lineup and replace him with Ronny Turiaf. But Brown gave Jackson something to stew about on Friday with a strong performance. He had 13 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a win over the Hawks.
Analysis: Brown is starting to become more of a consisent force in the Lakers starting lineup and we expect him to stay there for the current time. He could be useful as a low-end No. 2 center in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown started on Thursday vs. Utah, but scored just two points. He added five boards and four assists, but shot 0-for-2 from the field.
Analysis: Brown has had back-to-back two point games since a 13-point, 9-rebound effort Nov. 26 vs. New Jersey. We suggest keeping him reserved until he gets on a roll.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown scored 15 points and had five rebounds on Friday in a loss to the Jazz.
Analysis: Brown has now scored in double-figures in two straight games and has totaled 19 rebounds. He is starting to put together solid outing and could be counted on as a low-end No. 2 center.
News: Lakers center Kwame Brown is being asked to be a defensive "stopper" by Coach Phil Jackson, even though Andrew Bynum is expected to do more of the scoring from the center spot this season. Brown scored eight points and had seven rebounds off the bench on Friday.
Analysis: If Brown starts playing well, he might work his way back into the starting lineup. Consider Brown a short-term replacement in Fantasy leagues, with the possibility of moving up to a No. 2 center, if he steals minutes away from Bynum.
News: Lakers F Kwame Brown (shoulder) scored six points with two rebounds in his first action of the season on Sunday vs. Memphis.
Analysis: Brown played 18 minutes in his first game. With Andrew Bynum off to a nice start, he's likely destined to come off the bench for the foreseeable future.
News: Kwame Brown (shoulder) started the season on the inactive list. He is not expected to return until at least mid-November.
Analysis: Brown should be reserved until at least Fantasy Week 3 (Nov. 13-19) when he can officially return and prove his health in consecutive games without any lingering effects of his injury.
News: Lakers centers Kwame Brown (right shoulder) and Chris Mihm (right ankle) and guard Aaron McKie (back) -- won't be ready by opening night against Phoenix Tuesday. Guard Shammond Williams (abdominal strain) is questionable for Tuesday's opener against Phoenix, and forward Vladimir Radmanovic (sprained right hand) is probable.
Analysis: With Brown and Mihm sidelined at least a couple more weeks, the 19-year-old Bynum will start at center against the Suns. Bynum didn't play much as a rookie last year, but looked like a different player during the preseason. "He's made strides - he's not a boy anymore," Jackson said. "I got a little bigger," Bynum said. "The goal is playing time, to earn time and help my team win this year." Bynum really is only someone to consider in larger leagues for the first couple weeks.
News: Lakers coach Phil Jackson confirmed that centers Kwame Brown (right shoulder) and Chris Mihm (offseason right ankle surgery) will miss at least the first two weeks of the season, making Andrew Bynum, who turns 18 Friday, the starter.
Analysis: Mihm is expected to be out until mid-November with his ankle problems. Kwame Brown is a decent pick in the later drafts this season, but obviously, keep him reserved early on. Bynum really is only someone to consider in larger leagues for the first couple weeks.
News: The injury-depleted Lakers were without Kobe Bryant, Chris Mihm, Kwame Brown, Vladimir Radmanovic, Sasha Vujacic and Aaron McKie for Friday's preseason game vs. New Orleans.
Analysis: Vujacic sat out because of the left ankle he sprained in Thursday night's 91-90 loss to the Clippers, but Brian Cook returned to the lineup after missing one game with the same injury. Other than Mihm, who will be out until at least mid-November, the rest of these players are expected to be ready for the season. Unfortunately, only Kobe, Mihm and Kwame Brown are worth picking up on Draft Day anyway.
News: Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown will be sidelined approximately three to four weeks because of a bruised rotator cuff and bursitis in his right shoulder, meaning he'll miss the start of the season. Lakers spokesman John Black said Thursday that Dr. Neal Elattrache, a shoulder specialist, examined Brown a day earlier and made the diagnosis. The 24-year-old Brown hasn't played since colliding with Andrew Bynum during practice Saturday. His shoulder bothered him last season as well. Brown, the first overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards, averaged 7.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 72 games for the Lakers last season - his first with the team. He became the team's starting center after Chris Mihm injured his right ankle March 12.
Analysis: Brown has been drafted in leagues as a trendy No. 2 center with great potential for a breakout season. Now, he will have to find a spot on your bench for about a month. Brown has been a huge disappointment since being drafted No. 1 in the 2001 draft and now can be added to his list of career lowlights. Brown still might be worth a flier in the later rounds of Fantasy drafts, but he will probably now be available in your league's free agent pool because of the injury.
News: Second-year player Andrew Bynum was expected to start at center in a preseason game against Sacramento Tuesday in place of Kwame Brown, whose right shoulder is injured. "The more I play, the more I'm gaining confidence," Bynum said.
Analysis: Brown is a trendy sleeper pick as a No. 2 center in larger leagues with Andrew Bynum turning heads as a super-sleeper in dynasty formats.
News: The Lakers spent much of practice Friday talking trash, pushing and shoving each other on their fourth day of camp. "It was testy some times," Lamar Odom said. "Everybody wanted to prove that they could play. Right about this time, you don't really get to show your individual stuff."
Analysis: This is a good sign. A team that many believe to be overly dependant on Kobe Bryant is at least showing some signs of life in training camp. Under the guidance of Phil Jackson, walking cane and all, this team could provide more Fantasy useful players than it has in several years. Odom is the team's second most useful Fantasy option behind Bryant, but there is more to sift through. Kwame Brown is a trendy sleeper pick as a No. 2 center in larger leagues with Andrew Bynum turning heads as a super-sleeper in dynasty formats. Chris Mihm has gained recognition as a viable option in deeper formats and even players like Vladimir Radmanovic, Chris Mihm, Smush Parker and rookie Jordan Farmar could all have varying degrees of Fantasy value over the course of the season.
News: Prosecutors rejected a sexual assault claim against Kwame Brown on Tuesday because of a lack of evidence. "I am gratified that the authorities have come to the same conclusion and that the matter is being dropped," Brown said in a statement issued Tuesday through his agent. "I have been upset and frustrated to be wrongly and very publicly accused of something that I did not do and to have my name and reputation so unfairly damaged."
Analysis: Deputy District Attorney Darci Johnson wrote in an evaluation of the case that the decision not to prosecute was made after "a medical exam of the victim was reviewed and revealed no signs of forcible sexual assault."
News: Chris Mihm (ankle) missed his sixth game Wednesday vs. Sacramento. Team spokesman John Black said Mihm is slowly improving, but his return is weeks away. Kwame Brown scored 21 points in his absence while also bringing down 12 boards. He was 8-for-12 from the floor and he added three assists.
Analysis: He has no Fantasy value for this season, but his absence has sparked the renaissance of Kwame Brown. Add him immediately if he is still available in your league.
News: Kwame Brown scored 11 points with nine rebounds on Monday night vs. Boston. Over his last five games, he's averaging 9.4 ppg and 7.0 rpg.
Analysis: Add him in larger leagues if you can afford the roster space and are willing to take a gamble on a very unreliable Fantasy source. He's playing as well as he's going to play.
News: After Chris Mihm went down with an ankle injury last Sunday that could make him miss the rest of the regular season, Kwame Brown started off his brief sting as the Lakers' center with back-to-back solid games, but since he's turned in a 5-point, 4-rebound game vs. New Jersey and a 8-point, 6-rebound game vs. Cleveland on Sunday.
Analysis: Add him in larger leagues only if you can afford the roster space and are willing to take a gamble on a very unreliable Fantasy source.
News: Center Kwame Brown provided strong defense Wednesday against Kevin Garnett (4-of-14 shooting, 16 points) and also had 13 points and nine rebounds.
Analysis: Brown has posted back-to-back solid lines, but don't get too excited. He's averaging 7.2 ppg over his last five games. Add him in larger leagues only if you can afford the roster space and are willing to take a gamble on a very unreliable Fantasy source.
News: Power forward Kwame Brown had an MRI and a CT scan on his sore left foot Tuesday and their was no major damage found in either test. Brown was able to play on Wednesday and he contributed 10 points on 5-for-5 from the floor while also bringing down three boards.
Analysis: Kwame has been a huge bust in the NBA, but Phil Jackson has been able to squeeze some value from the the former first-overall pick by the Wizards. He heads into the break averaging just 6.1 ppg, but his 6.0 rpg is useful in very deep leagues. If Lamar Odom is traded away as rumored, Kwame could see a decent boost in average after the break.
News: Kwame Brown shot 3-for-7 from the floor on Wednesday at Houston and he is now 9-for-25 from the floor over his last five games.
Analysis: Brown has not reached 10 points since Jan. 14 and he hasn't reached 10 points in two consecutive games all season long. His appeal is limited to his rebounding, which isn't a big help to Fantasy owners either, so he should only be owned in the deepest of leagues.
News: Kwame Brown scored just two points while bringing down four rebounds on Sunday at Detroit.
Analysis: Brown has only reached double digits five times this season in scoring and four times in rebounding. He's still no where near the player we all expected him to be, but he is worth owning in deeper leagues while he's starting at center for the Lakers.
News: Kwame Brown has failed to put together back-to-back double-digit games in any category this season. He's reached double-digits scoring just five times and has done so just four times in rebounds.
Analysis: There are very few players that are as frustrating as Kwame Brown is to Fantasy owners. He's a bust, and he can't contribute enough over any week in the season to warrant starting in Fantasy leagues. Still, you don't want to be the guy who dropped Kwame only to see him finally break out. At this point, it's a better choice to risk being "that guy" than it is to start Brown on any given week.
News: Kwame Brown scored eight points while grabbing eight rebounds on Thursday night at Sacramento.
Analysis: Brown has shown signs of a breakout lately, but has not followed up on any of them. He should still be considered a bust, but is worth hanging on to or picking up because of his situation as a starter in L.A. For now, avoid starting him if at all possible until he can string more than two good games together.

News: Kwame Brown scored 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting with 12 rebounds on Saturday at Golden State.
Analysis: Brown is now as valuable as he's ever been from a Fantasy standpoint. That isn't saying much, but it's a start. He's close to becoming a viable No. 2 center in leagues with 12-plus teams.
News: Kwame Brown scored eight points while bringing down nine rebounds on Thursday night vs. Cleveland. He finished 3-for-7 from the field in 34 minutes.
Analysis: Brown is now as valuable as he's ever been from a Fantasy standpoint. That isn't saying much, but it's a start. He's close to becoming a viable No. 2 center in leagues with 12-plus teams.

News: Brown made just 1-of-6 from the floor in Sunday's game at Miami to finish with just two points. He was able to grab seven rebounds in 27 minutes to give Fantasy owners something.
Analysis: Brown is a risky Fantasy play each week, as he can either be dead on or extremely shaky. If you like rolling the dice, start him in the upcoming Fantasy week.
News: Kwame Brown was perfect from the field, going 6-of-6, in 27 minutes on Dec. 12 and finished with 12 points and four rebounds.
Analysis: Kwame will not be perfect from the field too often, and remains a risky Fantasy starter.
